A little hole in the wall located in Kalihi. I have to say, the pictures I've seen really enticed me into coming by. I was glad they took reservations because from the pictures I've seen the restaurant is pretty small and can only accommodate a few parties. I do recommend that if you plan on coming in for brunch, place your reservation a few days in advance. I called two days before I went and they were already book for the morning. Now, one downer of this restaurant is the parking. There aren't that many parking spaces since it shares the lot with other businesses and they reserve some parking spaces. I came at prime lunch time and I was lucky enough to arrive when someone was leaving. I believe their protocol is that you wait until they call you to let you know that your table is ready. I didn't know that and wasn't told that when I made the reservation so I ended up just walking inside. My party and I didn't have to wait that long before we were seated. Now the inside of the restaurant has that local old school vibe like you're in Shiro's or L & L. Although, you know you're in a Filipino establishment because if you need to use the restroom they only have one which is located behind their kitchen. When you walk through, it's just OPM! I mean it's cute because it was like Filipino rap. The cooks were nice and say Hi when you walk through with the hostess. Plus you don't have to worry about anyone hearing you do your business since they blast the music (LOL). For food, I was sad because they ran out of prime rib and short rib! But it's fine, I'll have to come back. Despite that, my friends and I ordered a variety of dishes. In my picture it shows the following: Bangus (Milk Fish) & Adobo Fried Rice - My friend who ordered this loves salty and vinegary dishes so she really loved this dish. However, I found it way to vinegary! It was like the Bangus was soaked in the vinegar sauce and didn't even make it crispy. I thought it was boneless, but it actually had a lot of bones still. That is expected when it comes to Bangus, but they should keep the tomato and onion on the side so it's easier to pick the bones out. Since I found the fish to vinegary, I was livid that they give a side of vinegar as dipping sauce because that is just overload! The Adobo Fried Rice was okay, but it's weird because it's like they're not consistent with their cooking. My other friend other another Adobo Fried Rice Combo with Sweet Longanisa, but his fried rice and adobo tasted like it was cooked in vinegar. He couldn't even make a dent in his dish. But the adobo fried rice that was served with the bangus tasted fine. It honestly tasted like Julie's Adobo Fried Rice, but with more meat. Crab Cake Benedict w/ Imitation Crab Salad - Super yummy! Probably the best Imitation Crab Salad I've ever had. It had the perfect ratio of everything. I had to take some home to eat with crackers because it's so addicting. The Crab Cake Benedict was also bomb! They put avocado under the patty which makes the dish very filling. Corn Beef Hash & Bacon Breakfast Plate - Didn't taste this, but my friend said it was good. The bacon was thick and not some cheap thin bacon! Overall, good experience. The food was yummy and service was decent. I'll have to come back to try their sweet menu items and get my that prime rib since that's what everyone raves about! read more

This cafe was recommended by our Uber driver. The cafe is a hidden gem. It's a small place and found in a sketchy looking plaza. But the cafe has great customer service. They are friendly and very accommodating. 5 stars all across the board. We didn't have any reservation because we didn't know we needed one but they were able to accommodate our party of 8. LOVE!!! As per usual, I ALWAYS gotta try the pancakes and I always wanna try something new (and try to get something the bf will eat). Sooo...I got the Oreo cheesecake pancakes and it was superb! Looks like the batter has Oreos mixed in and topped with bits of Oreo drizzled with cheesecake sauce (YAAASSS)! They also have Fruity Pebbles French toast so of course I had to get that too because I LOVE Fruity Pebbles and I have a huge sweet tooth! And surprisingly the bf kinda like it too (yay)! I gotta have my meat as well so I also got the adobo fried rice omelette with the lechón kawali combo. Those two by themselves are sooo delicious, but them two together is AMAZE BALLS!!! I've been wanting to check out this place for awhile It's right off King St. town bound, just before the post office. There is lots of parking and even spots designated for pickup. I ordered takeout by calling them. Super friendly! They also have an online-ordering system in place. From their menu, there were certain items that were marked as "Our Favorites." I decided to try the Cajun Seared Cajun Ahi with white rice and imitation crab salad. The ahi was good. There were some pieces with the cartilage still attached, but it was still edible. I liked the honey wasabi aioli that was drizzled all over. Lots of great flavor and mildly spicy. The crab salad wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I wanted to try something other than the usual mac or toss salad as a side. One thing to note: they added a fresh orchid flower as a garnish. I didn't eat it, but I wondered why they would add the flower. I thought about how the plate would look like without the flower. It would look plain, and also wouldn't look fresh. It's amazing how a garnish can make food more desirable and enjoyable to eat. That's just me. Overall, prices are great as well as customer service. I've been hearing a lot of talk about this little cafe located in the heart of Kalihi. So when my friend, Jillian suggested coming here for our meet up, I was thrilled! So happy that I read up on the location and saw that they take reservations! Peeps, if you want to eat in, you need to make reservation!!! Because of having to social distance and it's a tiny place itself, there's only 4 tables that can be used. During our stay, so many groups tried to walk in but were turned away because all the time slots were taken. But, you can always do take out! Ok, so Guieb Cafe is located in the same area as Diners and between Sakana Grill and Han Yang Restaurant. Just a little heads up, stalls are pretty skinny here. So if you have a large vehicle, you'll want an end stall. Luckily, when we came to eat, there was lots of options as the other places weren't open yet. To my surprise, it's rather nice and clean inside. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by the workers in the front asking if I had a reservation. I was a little early, so I had to wait like 2 mins for them to clean the area and get it ready. Temp checks done with your wrist and a contact tracing form to be filled and we were good to go. I knew ahead that I wanted to try their omelette. Kind of my go to item when trying out a brekkie place. And of course had to upgrade my rice to fried rice. Yum!! My friend decided to get their fruity pebbles french toast. So fun! Ok, omelette was a nice size. Went with "Da Local" which has Portuguese sausage, spam, bacon, white & green onions and cheddar cheese. Everything that a proper omelette should have. The fried rice was like a local and chinese style fried rice. But it was good. Filled with breakfast meat, onions, carrots, peas, shoyu & sesame oil and some kamaboko. Everything was good, but I wish I was given some hot sauce and ketchup. That's ok though, I can do without once in a while. As for the fruity pebble French toast. It was so colorful and everything you can imagine it would be. Thick slices of sweet bread and accompanied with syrup and little country crock spread. All in all, it was a good experience here. Fast and friendly service, yummy food and good options to choose from. Next time, I'm gonna try their prime rib loco moco that everyone raves about. Will be back!! read more

Was craving Ube pancakes and filipino breakfast. One of my good friends recommended Guieb Cafe. My significant other and I arrived around 9:30 am and thank goodness it wasn't busy. Parking was plentiful and we waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The ladies working were all so nice and friendly. We ordered the Ube mascarpone pancakes, crab and shrimp Alfredo omelette with fried rice, adobo fried rice omelette with longanisa. My coworkers picked up the Kalihifornia Burger for me for lunch today. SOLID. Normally I wouldn't eat the entire burger of this size, but I ate it all and saved the fries. We ordered the fruity pebble french toast and the fitness omelette with a side of tossed salad. The fresh toast had a perfect fruity pebble taste and satisfied our sweet tooth. (Sheesh, I really am on track toward trying everything.) I love everything about GC. Fair prices, quality food, beautiful presentation, easy ordering if doing takeout, and pleasant customer service. I rave about this place to my friends and coworkers and I've got most of them interested in giving GC a try if they're ever in the area. CHAOS is what I would describe the place as. Good food, very friendly and attentive staff But it's so small, cluttered, loud, and just not enough space to accommodate the amount of ppl that they do. Everyone is just shouting over everyone bc it's such a small enclosed space. Also, if you need to use the restroom is located passed the kitchen. So you have to walk through the kitchen where you're exposed to the food being prepared. Doesn't seem super sanitary since the food is just right there on the counter and any old person can just walk by it. We got takeout for our first time trying this place and it was pretty tasty! They were able to give us an extra sauce for the pancakes when we typed it into the notes, which I know not every place accommodates. Super happy with the pancakes! Oh man, we ate way too much though. My partner is pescatarian and doesn't always find protein options he can eat but was thrilled with the wide range of options for his dietary needs. They get Filipino menu though so I ordered the adobo fried rice with Lechon Kawali . It was just ok I was kinda disappointed because only had two pieces of adobo and mostly rice and the Lechon wasn't too tasty and not enough onions and tomatoes for me. Hash browns were undercooked and still raw potato hard and the egg yolks were overcooked and not even slightly runny. Had to pop em in the microwave and even then the hash browns were still hard (geez, how undercooked was it???). Food was not cheap. A bit of friendly advice: ditch the flowers and focus on making solid food. Cheap window dressing will never hide poor quality. Will never patronize again. read more

After seeing this place pop on on foodie IG over the past few weeks, I decided to give it a try. Made my way up to Wahiawa to checkout Guieb Cafe. This is actually their second location - only open 7 weeks. Their original is in Kalihi. After tasting this food, I would have no problem traversing to Kalihi. But I truly hope they catch on and stick around - breakfast and brunch are my most favorite meals. I got the Fried rice Adobo Omelette with Lechon Kawali. First off, the egg was cooked perfectly! Pure yellow, no browning and folded over so gently. Beneath the layer of egg is an unctuous and generous portion of adobo fried rice. It was deliciously balanced between sour, salty, and sweet delivering a palate punching, eye rolling experience. It had big chunks of pork adobo combined with soft pillowy rice. The Lechon kawali itself was both crunchy and moist delivering on the porky flavor. The tomato and onions delivered some nice acid as you ate through the meal. Go. That's it - just go. Make time to go for brunch, even if it's take out. It's well worth it! read more
