***4.5 STARS*** I cannot believe I forgot to write a review on this location of Liliha Bakery (LB), located in Ala Moana, the 3rd location of its current 6 locations island wide. They opened in 2019 after taking over longtime previous tenant of Alan Wong's Pineapple Room located on the 3rd floor of Macy's. I've dined at this location a couple of times, most recently when a college buddy and his family came back to Oahu since their last visit in March 2022. During that visit I recall their best meal of the Hawai'i trip was at the Nimitz location of LB. It was a no brainer to have suggested meet up at LB but at this location given that they were staying at nearby Hilton Hawaiian Village. My buddy and his family arrived before I did and snagged a table. I was caught in traffic and arrived shortly after the agreed time. A huge plus of this location is the ample parking on premise. It was a weekday late afternoon and had no issues of securing a parking stall nearby. The restaurant was crowded upon arrival. At first glance I saw a good mixture of tourists and kamaaina. It was quite noisy as many conversations were going on so it was challenging to hold a conversation. My buddy and I used the initial interaction catching up with each other that we didn't pay attention to the menu and had asked our waiter to give us more time. After a disappointing experience at LB with paper thin grilled mahi mahi, I opted for the fried chicken this time around. After ordering we were delivered LB's iconic grilled butter rolls with the ever so bright fuchsia colored jelly. This was table favorite as my buddy's daughter and her friend chowed down. Majority of the table ordered the teriyaki chicken that must have hit the spot as all 3 dining mates cleaned their plates. One of the girls got the bacon cheeseburger that was impressive and seemed like a winner as she almost ate the whole massive burger. My fried chicken was a winner. Chicken was served piping hot, juicy and flavorful. I really enjoyed the sides of fried rice upgrade and potato salad, but not a fan of the buttered corn. For dessert, we opted to select things from the limited options of their display case at the bakery section as most of the items were cleaned out. Service was not bad as our server was responsible for several large parties but he did make his way back to our table to check up on us. Overall, decent experiences at Ala Moana's LB where I'd be game for return visits. Great convenient location with ample parking, tasty food and baked goods. Just remember to come early to their bakery as you'll get punished with a limited selection to choose from if you go late in the day. read more

I came by to Liliha Bakery as recommended by a local for some local food! To my surprise, this is located inside the mall, tucked right inside Macy's. It was a short little walk from where I was staying nearby. This place was a neat treat for a wide variety of food options for dinner with breakfast served all day, woohoo! Not only the menu was huge there's also a bakery right outside the restaurant. Upon entering on in a weeknight, the baked goods were all tempting and the inside busy busy. ORDER: *Pork Belly Loco Moco with Iced Vanilla Latte Super satisfying meal, amazing! The pork belly was plentiful, along with being surrounded by the gravy and drizzling eggs on top. Juicy and tender and savory all around. As for dessert, I tried it later that night and the cream puffs are heavenly! From Matcha, to Dubai Chocolate, and Lemon- excellent and fresh tasting inside filling to out. Ordered some food for after work because I did not want to cook after a long day. First the on line ordering system was not working and would not let you complete your order after spending time placing it. I call the restaurant itself and ask if the system is down, if the restaurant is not taking to go orders, or is the kitchen close and bakery open? And was told they are taking orders and processed my order over the phone. Great, 20 minutes and I can grab my order, which is perfect because I finish my shift around that time. I ordered one loco moco extra gravy sunny egg, 2 roast pork dinners gravy all over potato and mac salad. Get there to pick up my food, they have me sign the slip and I leave a tip and home to enjoy a late dinner with my family. We are ready to eat and our food is burnt! The roast pork dinners were made with the burnt pieces in the pan that was dry and blackened. It hard and bitter from being burnt! The kitchen staff covered it in gravy to hide it. The rice was mushy. Our loco moco burger patty was also bitter, like they were in the middle of cleaning the grill and decided to cook the burger on that. It was horrible. I placed my order at 7pm and they don't close until 8:30. I was very upset. I tipped the team and that's the food I got, old, burnt, and not edible. I paid over $60 for freshly made food and was given trash. Why would a restaurant kitchen even think that it was okay to serve that to a customer? They should have taken the roast pork off the menu at that point! $60 was wasted. And shouldn't the front of the house look at the food before packing as a second layer of quality control? Im sure the owner, Peter Kim, would not approve of his business serving low quality to his customers. My recommendation is to check your food before leaving. And never order the roast pork at night. Lesson learned! They have other related businesses at the mall, Yummy's, Lahaina Chicken Company, Steak and Fish, and Liliha Bakery at Macy's. They opened a new L&L and I would have had a better product if I went there and saved money too! After a hards day work, very disappointing and frustrating experience. We ended up making package ramein after all. I ordered my food on 6/25, Thursday at 7pm, last name Navarro. I hope this review will improve your business practices, value your customers more, and bring more attention to consistency and quality that is expected when paying $18 - $28 for a meal. read more

One of the most popular locations, this branch is ideally situated next to Macy's at Ala Moana Center. Its convenient location, ample free parking, and easy access are definitely major attractions. However, be prepared for slower service during peak hours. We had to repeatedly ask for water refills, pancake syrup, extra napkins, and other basic items. There were plenty of servers on duty, but several seemed more engaged in chatting with one another than paying attention to customers who needed assistance. I hope this review brings these noticeable service shortcomings to management's attention. With better attentiveness and customer service, this location could provide an experience that matches its excellent location and popularity. read more

The food is so addictive and good--especially the buns --it's definitely worth a try! Mushroom chicken is so so . Service is great. Everyone is really nice and attentive, but it was really busy inside. Had to wait about 40 minutes so make sure to get there early or make reservations But charging $3 for a single bun cut in half is pretty crazy when you can down the whole thing in one bite. read more

My friend brought me here for lunch so we could try their lunch menu. We started with the pastries and cream puffs, which were a nice treat, but I'm really glad we also tried the oxtail soup and prime rib entrees. Everything was packed with flavor. The steaks were huge, cooked well, and very flavorful. Definitely a satisfying meal and I'll be coming back to try more items from their menu. I have to say, some of the pastries were a little sweeter than I personally prefer, but I'm still glad I got to try them. Highly recommended spot to get sweet treats and breakfast. Bakery caught our eyes as soon as we walked in and instantly ordered a coconut danish! We let the hostess know our party was here and ready to be seated. She informed us that there will be a short wait. We were seated 5 mins later and provided menus and gave drink orders. We waited maybe another 20 mins or so, then had to flag down our waitress to give our food orders. I ordered the corn beef hash, which comes with rice, eggs, and a mixed salad, as well as bread for the table. The bread was accompanied with strawberry jelly that tastes like filling from a donut. This location is very convenient and easily accessible if you are shopping at the mall. They open at 7 am which is an hour later than their original location which makes it harder to grab treats and get to work before all the traffic starts. When I get there early they have everything, but sometimes later in the afternoon they start to run out of items. One item I wanted to try was their kouign-amann and it looked good but was bit dry. I think I will stick to their poi mochi donuts which are soft and a bit chewy without being overly sweet. My daughter also loves their hotdog roll with a mayo/ketchup top. Service is always good at 7 am. I have eaten sit down meals at this location and sometimes you have to wait depending on the amount of people there. The restaurant is located within/next to Macys so you can sip while you wait. The inside is nice and bright but wish they had a better view rather than the parking lot. Liliha Bakery was so... hard to find LOL. We were wandering back and forth through the Ala Moana Shopping Center trying to locate this restaurant. Was it in Macy's? Next to Macy's? Google Maps showed that it was in Macy's, but we were like "there's no way lol." But after circling the perimeter a couple of times, we were like "idk let's check the inside of the Macy's." We roamed around the inside of the Macy's for a while and eventually made our way to the third floor where the women's clothing section was. We didn't actually think that Liliha Bakery would be there, but we were running out of places to look. But it was! Right there, on the third floor of the Macy's, next to the dresses, was the entrance to Liliha Bakery. The sight was a little bizarre because like why would it be there, but regardless, that's where it is.  We put our name on the waitlist through the kiosk and waited about 15 minutes for our table. Service was very nice. We all got the loco moco with fried rice. It was so good! The hamburger patty tasted like it was fresh off a charcoal grill - a little smoky with a delicious charred edge. The garlic fried rice was so good too. We all scraped our plates clean! This was probably the best loco moco I've ever had. I'll definitely have to give Liliha Bakery another visit on my next trip to Oahu... and this time, I'll know exactly where to find it! read more

Ordered Oxtail Soup and Miso Butterfish. Both were good. Oxtail soup had a bit too much green onions though. Butterfish had too much miso sauce but was tasty. Butterfish was very fresh and flaky- melts in your mouth texture. There wasn't a single fish bone in my butterfish so kudos to the fish cutter/cook. Loved the complimentary butter rolls with the meals. Service was a bit subpar. Host seated us next to a noisy large group that was celebrating some kind of work related event with speeches etc. There were so many empty tables around so it was not cool to seat us right next to this noisy group. This is one of our favorite places to eat at when were in Waikiki. This specific location is at the Ala Moana mall... inside Macy's. Lol. Originally came to just pick up some cream puffs but decided to sit and eat. Best decision ever. Complimentary butter rolls with jelly (melts in your mouth). We got their loco moco (good), the kimchi fried rice with spam and eggs (delish), and the 3 pc. fried chicken with rice, corn, and potato mac salad (THE BEST!). Liliha Bakery is a local staple, and in recent years they've added a bunch of new locations. We've gotten takeout from this one inside Macy's a few times, but only dined in for the first time recently. You can get here through the store, or simply park right outside on the top level. They have a counter with their baked goods and other items to go as well. This place was busy! But the host was efficient to greet everyone and people were seated quickly. We sat at the big bar, which had no wait and the server was very fast to take our order. The menu is gigantic, with local foods, sandwiches, and breakfast. I had the kimchi fried rice, sooo good with lots of flavor. Portion sizes are huge for the price. The side of mac salad was yummy too, lots of dill. The plantation iced tea offered a refreshingly tropical treat too. If you're looking for something more casual and inexpensive while shopping in Ala Moana, this is a great option. read more

We were in town for a meeting. Since we were in Ala Moana we had lunch at our favorite comfort food restaurant Liliha Bakery. We had the Fried Chicken and Country Omelette with their famous Butter Rolls. They were very busy but they did a great job of getting everyone seated. Our server did a good job. I love their Fried Chicken. Served Hot, Crispy outside moist and tender inside. Delicious. We love the Butter Rolls so much we had to get some from the bakery with a bottle of their Cherry Jelly. dining in..... I met some co-workers this past weekend for dinner. Since we live in different parts of the island, the consensus was to meet at somewhere central-ish with a lot of parking available. Thank goodness Ala Moana has lot of food options. NOTES 1. The restaurant is located at Macy's on the third floor; this is the former Pineapple Room space. 2. This location has a restaurant AND bakery section.....though the bakery wasn't too busy when we arrived. 3. There's a dedicated entrance from the parking lot....upper deck mauka side. Or, you can walk thru Macy's also. 4. Similar to other locations, check-in at the host stand to be seated. 5. Soda and coffee are refillable. I had 2 refills of my coke zero. Our group of 4 met at 5:30. Thankfully, the restaurant was not busy at all and we were seated immediately. Having been to other LB locations, we didn't deliberate too long on what to order. I chose the chicken kaarage (white rice with tossed salad), while other ordered the chicken milanese (special), mushroom chicken, and the loco moco. The server dropped off the famous LB dinner rolls with their signature jelly while we waited for our food. Since we spent a lot of time catching up, we felt we didn't wait too long for the food. As expected, the food at LB doesn't disappoint as its comfort food at its finest. I really enjoyed my entree, as it was a decent portion and the chicken was prepared well enough, but I thought it could do with less sauce. Everyone enjoyed their food, but like myself, asked for take out box for their leftovers. The one item no one took home was the dinner rolls because those were long gone by meal's end. SERVICE Our server was friendly, polite, and attentive. She checked on us periodically throughout the meal, and readily provided refills for water, soda, and coffee. BOTTOM LINE Good service. I know I am probably in the minority, but I've never really understood the hype around Liliha Bakery. My husband loves the oxtail soup, so we end up here once in a while, but this latest visit didn't win me over. I ordered the saimin and it was disappointing. The broth was overly salty and the noodles were overcooked and mushy. Saimin is comfort food, and this bowl just wasn't comforting. Service was minimal, and we were seated directly across from the kitchen. I know some people enjoy watching the action, but I don't. Personally, I don't want a front-row seat to food prep while I'm eating. It made the experience feel chaotic and less appetizing. The bakery items are still good, but the restaurant side continues to leave me underwhelmed. My husband will probably keep coming back for the oxtail soup. As for me, I'll happily pass. read more

We went to this location because we're staying in Waikiki. I enjoy the mac nut waffles which didn't disappoint me. My husband tried the smoked pork belly with two eggs and multi-grain rice. Unfortunately the smoked pork belly wasn't smoked enough. He didn't think it was pork belly because there was minimal fat. It seemed like pork loin. Servers were friendly and helpful but it didn't seem like there was enough help because no one came to ask us if we needed anything. We had to look for someone. We were there when they opened so that may have been the reason. Aside from that ambiance was fine. Music may have been a bit too loud. Affordable prices for portions. Went to have lunch with some old coworkers this past week. We got there about 11 and there were a large number of people waiting to get seated (I'd guess) about 20 or so. We were surprised that many people were there midday on a Tuesday. We put our name on the list and waited about 15 minutes to get seated. The restaurant was crowded and a bit noisy. We did have to get close to hear or speak a loudly to hear each other. Not a deal breaker but something to know if you are having a business meeting. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. We placed our order and food arrived in under 10 minutes. I ordered the 2 eggs, rice and meat. I wouldn't say the meal was bad but I had eaten at the Pearl City location and in comparison it was not the same. Eggs and sausage are hard to mess up and those were ok, sausage did seem a little under cooked. My issue was with the fried rice. Rice was kind of mushy and not very flavorful. Oh well, maybe it was just an off day. With all that said I'd still return, but probably order something else. read more

Let's face it- when you are shopping (or being the mule) at the AMC where to go to lunch becomes important, especially when you have been there for a couple of hours. Our favorite orders are their mahi plates and their mushroom chicken plates. They are served with a scoop of rice, potato/mac salad or toss, and their butter roll with the "radioactive" jelly. Jason, our server was friendly and meticulous in bringing ice waters, hot water with lemons. The atmosphere was somewhat quiet, but not so busy, and pleasant for conversations. Their famous butter rolls were great with their jelly...very sweet and buttery. We ordered clam chowder, rich and filled with good amount of clams, chunky potatoes and herbs. As far the grilled shrimp, it was seasoned well with a smokiness flavor from being charred. I like when they charred their hamburger too...same affect! The Liliha Bakery restaurant at Macy's Ala Moana is a very busy restaurant, so expect to wait during rush hours. I've dined there twice in a 2 week span, mostly because it was convenient. I've dined at the restaurant on Nimitz before and wasn't impressed, the fried rice, in my opinion, wasn't very good. First trip to the Macy's location we ordered the chicken cutlet with gravy, one with mushrooms. It was OK, needed more gravy for the rice and the gravy was also underseasoned. The mac salad needed more seasoning. We also ordered plantation iced tea, iced tea with pineapple juice, was OK but it is $7 per glass with no refills. The second time we dined there I had the tuna sandwich and I wanted some French fries with it but they don't serve fries. The menu offers burgers so how can you not have fries? They gave me some pan fried thick sliced potatoes instead, but again it was under seasoned. My tuna sandwich wasn't very good because there was way too much mayonnaise in it. I ate a little more than half of my sandwich. My girlfriend had the Denver omelet without the cheese because the only cheese they offer was American. How can you not have cheddar or some other cheese in a nice restaurant like this? Again , we had plantation iced teas with our meals. Parking is ample, but scarce when Ala Moana is busy or when Macy's has a big sale. Seating can be a challenge during rush hours. And, we found that service, while friendly, can be pretty slow at times. Our meals came out to be about $65 each time for two diners with tip. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the bakery rocks. Might not go back for a meal though. read more

This is a bakery located on the second floor of Macy's near the restrooms in Ala Moana Shopping Mall. They have delcious chiffon cakes - my favorites are the guava and passion fruit - pillowy soft with taste. The cream filled pastries are good also - huge assortment (need to watch your calories :) because they look delicious and tempting that you want to try everything). The restaurant has an extensive menu that fits everyone's needs. Portions are good and they can accommodate your selection to your dietary needs. Food is served temperature hot, good food presentation, food smell was aromatic and service was excellent. Our server checked on us constantly to make sure we were happy with our meal. Frankly, I prefer this location rather than the one on Nimitz. I like the overall thought of not worrying about cramped parking spaces (depending where you park at the mall) or long wait times just to be seated. The atmosphere here is calm and collective; away from the busy food courts and other eateries upstairs. Each time my family and I would come, we're always directly seated and all our food orders come out together and on time. My husband got me hooked on their cobb salad with chicken and it's the only thing I look forward to getting each and every time! read more

Located on the 3rd floor of Macy's at Ala Moana Center, this place offers local-style comfort food in a bright, lively, and comfortable dining room. Unlike the tiny original on Kuakini, this location is huge with lots of booths, tables, and a long counter if you want the classic diner vibe. Even so, expect a 10-15 minute wait, especially on weekends and holidays. (Pro tip: check in at the tablet up front and they'll text or call when your table is ready.) The Food: Generous portions, consistent quality. We've been here at least a dozen times over the years and have never had a bad meal. Breakfast: The omelettes are my go-to. Fluffy eggs, never overcooked, perfectly seasoned. And yes, they have brown rice. Coffee is bottomless. Lunch/Dinner: My personal favorite is the Oxtail Soup--loaded with tender oxtail, plenty of peanuts, and love the abundance of Chinese parsley. The Fried Chicken and Loco Moco are also excellent, but fair warning: food coma guaranteed. And no matter when you come--breakfast, lunch, or dinner--you can't resist their Grilled Butter Rolls with jelly. I dare you to eat just one. Service: Friendly and welcoming. During peak hours it might take a few minutes for your server to get to you, but once the order's in, the whole team hustles and food comes out surprisingly quick. The staff works hard, and it shows. This place was recommended by the hotel front desk, and they were absolutely right. It's a casual café style spot, not fine dining, but honestly, that is part of the charm. been here couple of times throughout my travels to hawaii and each time i go here, it hits just the same. the service from the aunties is always great, and i always get giddy when they call me dear. they're fast, efficient, and the food never misses. they start you off with some butter rolls with their signature guava jam. i'm not usually a jam dude, but here at liliha, i'm a jam dude. its sweet, a little tart, and goes so well with the savory fulls. the main entrees are always great but my recommendation is one hundred percent the butter fish. its the wagyu of the sea and they always cook it to perfection. read more
