This place is game changing! The OG sampler plate of tacos comes with SIX mini versions of their top meat tacos (and at ONLY $8.25!!! Plus they have a vegetarian option too!). I was blown away! Handmade corn tortillas and ingredients that have obviously been lovingly slow cooked. Every single taco tasted AMAZING! I can't pick a favorite (which never happens lol). If you are in the area, don't pass up a chance to try this fine establishment out. You won't regret it! . Service was helpful and very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. The staff are friendly and very helpful with questions about the menu. They also serve alcohol. They provide free iced water which is self serve. It is a fast causal restaurant. You order at the front and they take your name. When your order is ready they will bring it to you so no need for you to get up. The menu is pretty extensive and categorized by different meat. They do have vegetarian options. Also they have desert on the menu. I ordered Chorizo, Chuleta En Chile Verde and Cochinita Pibil. The meat in all the tacos were tender and flavorful. I love these tacos! These aren't the kind of tacos you would have everyday. I'm tempted to have these once a week, but even then that might be too much. But omggggg.... They are greasy, they're messy, and they're the slap yo' mama, they're so good tacos. I always get the carne asada tacos (maximum of 2) with the carne asada quesadilla. That's a combo that makes me full every time no matter how many times I've eaten it. I usually get the hubby the pork ones and he can't stop raving about them. These aren't the kind of tacos you can eat 5 or 6 at a time (I'm sure many have). These are the kind of tacos people eat when they're trying to get over a hangover, a breakup, or just need to get away from the boss being on your case for a minute. These are the forget about life kind of tacos. The restaurant is very clean and minimalist. What you see is what you get. The menu is simple and how they cook the tacos are even simpler. It's great that Guisados has been expanding rapidly beyond Boyle Heights and DTLA. It's nice having one close to my office now. I can never seem to commit to a few kinds, so I always go for the Sampler. You get to choose six mini tacos, all on firm homemade corn tortillas. A silver easel is presented with the six colorful tacos de guisados. No matter what order you eat them, they're sure to be a work of art! This time I treated my taste buds to: * Steak Picado: Flank steak, bacon, and green bell peppers are stewed and topped with salsa verde. Don't drip any of the juices. * Bistek en Salsa Roja: Shredded flank steak is simmered with red bell peppers and tomatoes, which give off a red tint to the dark brown shredded meat. A scoop of avocado provides a nice creamy touch. * Tinga de Pollo: Shredded chicken is simmered with chipotles, chorizo, cabbage, and onion, then topped with chipotle chile and a scoop of avocado. This red-orange one is oh so smoky with a hint of heat. * Mole Poblano: Shredded chicken is braised in a black poblano mole and topped with queso fresca, crema, crunchy red onion, sesame seeds, and salsa seca. The mole is nutty, thick, with a subtle poblano taste. Alright I've been to several of these and every time I've had a great experience. This time I tried had the Steak Picado, Tinga de Pollo, Mole Poblano, Chorizo, Frijoles con Queso and the Chiles Toreados. I ate them in that order. There's a reason why. First off, everything had a ton of flavor. No grease or soggy tortillas. The tortillas are very fresh and hand made. And with the final taco.. the warn you to eat it last. I'm glad I listened. First bite tasted amazing. All the peppers had delicious flavor. Then an atomic bomb exploded in my stomach that gave my a huge hiccup. I knew it was over from there. Amazing flavor. EXTREMELY spicy. Being from the LA area I've heard about Guisados for years and finally ended up trying it. This place did not disappoint and definitely lived up to the hype. Really liked what they did with this location that was formerly Doña Rosa I believe. To start this place is very clean, simple, and spacious. I got the taco sampler which I definitely recommend. From what I've tried the chicharron and the steak picado were the best although the other options were very good as well. All of there aguas frescas are made in house which is rare these days. I had the horchata which was on the very sweet side but the homemade flavors salvaged the drink. Staff is very friendly and informative of what the menu consist of. They also bring you your food and give you a breakdown of what you are about to eat. All in all this place is a great addition to the areas food scene. read more

I am a fan of the 6 mini tacos sampler -- you get to taste a variety and they are good and so cute ((hehe)). Ask for a side of salsa, because I like the extra spice. Also, their horchata drink is so good. This location has their own parking lot (and it's free!) and the customer service is great! I was overall very happy with my tacos here. I was surprised that they only used 1 tortilla per taco, but it held up very well with all the meats and sauces. You don't expect your usual carne asada, al pastor, etc here. It's more of a place with "fancier" meats and mole. There's also a variety of vegetarian/vegan selections, though for most of those I would recommend adding more salt/seasonings. DO try the mole--I'm rather picky with mole, but this was a good balance of sweet and savory. What I also love is the customer service. The employees are friendly and do check in with you to see how you're doing. They also have a cute little outdoor space that creates a very comfortable and inviting ambiance. As noted in other reviews, Guisados specializes in braised meats. If you like saucy, moist meat, then this is the place for you. I ordered the OG sampler upon recommendation from the staff. The mini tacos were truly mini-sized, smaller than street tacos, but eight of them filled me right up for lunch. My favorites were the mole poblano and the spicy sweet pork. The mole poblano had an almost barbecued, rich flavor to it with some creaminess from the cheese. The spicy sweet pork also had a very rich flavor. The spicy chicken taco was extremely tangy and very spicy, also very yummy. The chicharron taco was nice and flavorful. I thought I would enjoy the beef/steak tacos the most, but they were just okay. The meat was a little tough and the taste of the sauces didn't stand out. read more

Then you'll love it. And judging by the reviews I guess a lot of people like liquid taco with slimy peppers and onions in it. Considering the countless excellent hole in the wall mom and pop taco shops and stands in the LA county area, I can't imagine why you would go here unless... Oh right, you're white. White people love this kind of thing. It's like the IPA of tacos. There is no way people ACTUALLY love this food but they feel it makes them seem like they have good 'authentic' taste if they eat here, so they do and they pretend they love it. Love at first bite! We can't get enough of Guisados! I love how simple this place is. You walk up, pick anything off their menu, and minutes later you're sitting down having some of the best tacos in LA. Everything here is made by hand, and it shows! With each bite, you'll find yourself getting sadder and sadder but only because your meal is coming to an end. I've been driving by this place for so long, but finally went for the first time since they've open. Steak Picado taco, bomb. Meat so tender, a little sweet, just yum. That's all I could think of while taking bites of it. Pescado taco, so good. Some places you just lose the fish because they stuff it with 90% cabbage with a small slice of mostly battered fish. But, the fish in this had a good size to it and you can actually taste it. Chicharron taco, maybe just me, but a bit too, ummm, wet. Maybe I was thinking like crispy chicharron when I ordered it. Texture aside, it had good flavor. It didn't bug me much at all, but yah, some of the tacos were super "wet" and were just dripping with sauce. Some would be turned off by it, but it's okay, just get a fork and pick up anything that falls out of the tacos and pick up that sauce with it. Slurp it up if no one's looking. Haha. Also, had the elote tamale.. nice as a dessert. My wife said it reminded her of corn bread. It was delicious. Definitely going back for some of that! read more

Tamales were the reason for visiting, since Christmas is right around the corner. I wanted to try the Elote tamales, which were sweet and delicious. The location is rather basic, but the food excellent, with a nice kitchen environment and a wide open waiting area. Lots of taco goodness ranging from fish, chicken, chorizo and shrimp tacos (and these were the only ones I tried)...for those who like it super spicy the toreado taco is worth a roll, but dont say you werent warned...I like my heat but these are killer ...salsas are great with mild to spicy habanero versions and in Covid world they have pick up and delivery options available. The cheese tamales and sweet corn tamales are also great. In the morning, a Horchata Cold Brew is refreshing. The only downside to this location is that the cashiers can spend too much time explaining items to customers. One early afternoon I just left without ordering since the male cashier was helping a guy choose a cookie based on how much money he had left.
