    Jamaica - not too sweet!

Really good tacos, a great variety, and the Jamaica isn't too sweet. Of the 4 I had this time, the cochinita pibil was my favorite.

I visited Guisados last Sunday after a run with the Run Culture group, and I can't say enough good things about this place. They were incredibly kind and supportive of our running event allowing us to use their parking lot, providing water, and letting all the runners use their restrooms. That level of hospitality really stood out. After the run, my husband, friends, and I stayed to eat and support the business and wow, we're so glad we did. The tacos were absolutely delicious! We tried the tinga, nopales, bistec en salsa roja, mole, cochinita pibil, and a chile relleno burrito... everything was full of flavor and so well prepared. The drinks were just as good the horchata and jamaica were refreshing and perfect after a run. The coffee line was long, which must mean it's popular we'll definitely try it next time! The restaurant is very clean, including the restrooms, and the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. There's also a decent-sized parking lot, which is always a plus in Pasadena. I loved it so much... I actually came back yesterday for more tacos Highly recommend this spot not just for the amazing food, but for the great service and community support. We'll definitely be back!

On our recent trip to California, we got to to eat and drink at amazing restaurants & bars. One of them was Guisados in Pasadena. It was a great experience with exceptional tacos as well as house made Sangria !! We had fish tacos, chicken tacos as well pork - all were delicious, freshly prepared with tortillas being made from scratch. The restaurant has limited inside seating but a great outdoor patio. Staff are friendly, helpful and with big smiles !!

Jesus was the man. He really took extensive time explaining many of the items, how they are cooked, and what flavors go into them. My wife and I tried 6 tacos total, before going back to try 2 more. They were that good and all are filled with flavor. My favorite was the chicken tinga and my wife's was the chorizo, but everything was great and slow roasted. Heads up, if you get a taco where you can pick your heat level, go 2 levels lower than what you plan on getting. The levels go up to 10, but 3 is considered medium. I got 5 and even that burned my mouth off, I was crying. The agua frescas were super fresh and refreshing. The pan dulce also extremely soft and fresh - they bake them in house daily! Overall, Guisados was a really nice surprise. Great food, nice relaxing seating. Easy & free parking. The entire service from Jesus, the other staff members behind the counter, and the bussers were very friendly and felt happy talking to us. We'll definitely come back to try more off the menu, and for breakfast & coffee as well.

Great service, delicious food. Convenient location. Shrimps are so fresh. Must return.

ordered 5 different types of tacos to go... nothing is labeled... it's a guessing game

Ordered 5 different tacos to go... bistek roja, cochinita pibil, pescado, steak picado & tinga de pollo. Food came badly wrapped... and without any labels. We had to open each item & guess what it is. We've eaten there before and the food is not bad, and after this experience, I will only eat at the restaurant because whoever packs the food is horrible.

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the tacos just weren't for me. I ordered two cochinita pibil tacos, and aside from being very soggy, they had way too much salsa poured on top, which overpowered everything else. I also tried the chorizo taco, and it didn't meet my expectations--it tasted pretty basic, more like store-bought chorizo than something fresh or flavorful. On a positive note, the restaurant itself was quiet and not very crowded, although there seemed to be a steady flow of to-go orders. The service was fast and friendly, which I appreciated. Overall, though, the food just didn't do it for me!

Our first time coming in here and that did it. . It didn't disappoint. We started in just wanting to try 1-2 tacos and ended up ordering more. Their salsas???? Tasty. That's it, I can't say anymore or less. It's just delicious! Thank you guys

Ordered Doordash and it arrived pretty fast ~30 min! Got the Sampler ($13.25) and had the option to pick 6 different tacos! My 6 options were: Steak Picado, Bistek Roja, Mole, Tinga, Cochinita, and Chorizo. The tacos were pretty cold and dry when I got them so I was pretty disappointed. Honestly, it was hard to distinguish the flavors because they were all so salty! I really wanted to have a favorite but they all tasted the same to me. They were all pretty small and super greasy! Overall, I was pretty disappointed and none of the tacos stood out to me so this was 5/10 The Horchata was ok and nothing special. A little too sweet and it tasted pretty artificial flavored so this was 5/10 Most likely won't recommend or reorder unfortunately.

I love their fresh handmade corn tortillas! Their service was friendly and fast. Clean restaurant with fun ambiance. Their horchata is delicious and their fish taco and ceviche tostada was amazing! My group noted their food was not too hot (temperature-wise). I'm not sure why some places don't list their prices. It matters in my decision making.

Amazing food, quality and service! Didn't realize there was such a close Guisados. Came on a Sunday morning. My SO and I ordered a breakfast burrito, two Cochinita pebil tacos and a quesadilla con chorizo. Everything was delicious and so filling. The staff were so friendly and it was such a great Sunday morning vibe. Also, free parking is always such a plus.

I've had Guisados a few times now and really enjoy their tacos, ceviche tostadas, and refreshing drinks--especially the agua frescas. The horchata is delicious, though a bit too sweet for my taste. I haven't tried enough to pick a single favorite taco yet, but I really like the bistek, tinga, and seafood options. Their ceviche tostada is always a standout for me--fresh and flavorful every time. The space is a bit rustic, but I love that it's spacious with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a large parking lot, and it's kept clean. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to!

    This restaurant serves kosher food?

No, it's a Mexican restaurant with much of the food mixing milk products with meat, i.e., pork, chicken, beef, etc. Guisados is not a good choice for kosher foods, yet it is one for pure deliciousness!

Do you sell your corn tortillas for people to take home?

    Do they serve beer?

    yes!!!

Can you ask for no cheese or cream (i.e. dairy-free)?

    Yes

Are the corn tortillas non GMO?

    Yeah and cage free too

Do tamales have lard? Or are they vegetarian?

I recently asked them, they told me all their tamales have lard in the masa except the elote tamales which are made with butter.

    Open for dine-in yet?

    Yes

Here are the problems: 1. $7 for Chips and Guacamole - a giant basket of mediocre chips - basically a tablespoon of guacamole. Sorry, that's a terrible value. 2. The tacos were good, but again, kind of a crap value at $3 a taco. 3. I also ordered a medium Diet Pepsi. I don't know the exact price, but I had just spent $27 with a tip for 4 tacos/chips and guacamole/and a drink, but they wouldn't give me a refill unless I spent another $1.11. This was not the case when we had our dining experience. We got the plate of chile relleno with a beef enchilada, the mole plate and a kids quesadilla with rice and beans. 1. The chile in the chile relleno was soooo tiny, the battered egg was big and fluffy which is why it looks big. The rice was crunchy and had pieces of overcooked rice. The beef on the enchilada was on top of the enchilada NOT inside and it tasted like boiled beef with no flavor! I put it to the side. The inside just had a bit of shredded marble cheese. So disappointed. The beans were ok, restaurant quality, canned flavored. 2. The mole was very sweet and although that's not a bad thing, it still didn't have any kind of authenticity in the flavor it was as though it was just packaged sauce dumped on the chicken. 3. The kids quesadilla has bellpeppers and onions inside! Which was not disclosed on the menu. My kid likes bellpeppers but not the green ones and not in her quesadillas... come on. I had to pick them off. Over all I'm glad I live far away from here because it was really bad quality food. The service was nice and attentive. The ambiance was empty and almost abandoned... and I even went on a weekend.

It really hits the spot when you're craving comforting, flavorful Mexican food. The chips are fresh, the salsa is good, and the menu has offerings that feel more authentic and varied than a lot of other places. I especially appreciate that they have Yucatán cuisine options, which you do not always see at every Mexican restaurant. I am also very fussy with mole and typically do not like it at all, but I actually really enjoy the mole from El Portal. It has been a real eye-opener for me and honestly inspired me to give mole another shot elsewhere. One thing to keep in mind: a lot of the combo plates are smothered in delicious red sauce and plenty of cheese, so if you are not a big cheese person, just be aware before ordering. The enchiladas are good, though sometimes they could use a little more sauce, as the tortillas can come out a bit dry. The margaritas are tasty, but they do feel a little small for the price (Roughly $16 for a 8oz glass?!) The staff are friendly, the vibe is nice, and overall the food is consistently good. They were perfectly thin crispy non-salty and warm, paired with a nice salsa that seems house made but was a little too tomato/ketchupy but by no means bad.
