We had 8 different tacos and all but one were a solid 5 (the vegetarian taco was ok). Very welcoming and friendly. Wasn't sure what to order but they let me sample a couple of the meats and recommended several. Ordered the steak Picado, tinga de pollo cochinta pibil. All three were excellent but my fav was the steak picado. These are mini tacos so no judging lol. Will have to get the sampler next time which is six mini tacos. Super clean inside all around and again the staff were very friendly and had high customer service skills. Two came to my table to make sure my meal was good and I enjoyed it. Had late nite taco dinner with my little one, super yummy tacos. Every taco had a distinct flavor, which made them so good. The size of each taco was perfect not too big or small, so I was able to eat 4 different tacos. My little boy whom is a super picker eater loved it, was complementing how good it was with every bite. Make sure when you order, if for kids select no chili/salsa preparation. The staff was great, while we were waiting for some salsa on the side they gave my little boy some treats!!! Three salsas to try - red, green and chipotle. A sweet and unexpected treat were their conchitas! Three flavors - strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. More like a 3.5 but I'm happy a Guisados opened in Pasadena. I round it up because of these hard times so I hope Guisados do survive the pandemic. Guisados is not your typical traditional Mexican place. It's also very expensive for tacos but I think they have different meats with different salsas and marination. So they all taste very different from each other even if you're eating beef of some sort & pork of some sort. With that said, I think a lot of them are actually pretty good but the two big no nos for me are their quesdilla and the pork chop taco. The pork chop that is diced upi s honestly just super dry even though the other aspects/flavors of it are actually ok(as I mentioned earlier). I would honestly just say they have the worst quesdilla ever. There is no other nicer way of putting it. I would even a quesdilla from taco bell/del taco than the one at Guisados. Maybe it's their own take on a quesdilla but it's just awful. The cheese isn't melted and everything about it is just not good. You have been warned. Hope this location survive the pandemic. At least I finally filled that void of my weekly yelp review. read more

We used to love going to the Echo Park location and were excited to see them moving into Pasadena. First time in a Guisados in a few years and either my taste's changed or theirs has. The calabacitas tacos were watery and flavorless. The frijoles tacos were delicious, but tacos are on the small side for the price ($3.25 per). The quesadilla con chorizo looked amazing and was downed without any offer to share a taste, so I guess it was a hit. I do like that there's plenty of patio seating here. Oh, also, do yourself a favor and get the Horchata coldbrew. read more

It's true--these tacos are amazing. The Tingas de Pollo has a nice kick and is flavorful. My daughter had me order more of the Frijoles con Queso. The Papas con chorizo are amazing. The tortillas by themselves are thick and delicious and work well with the juices. Friendly service. Definitely coming back. I didn't give 5 stars because of the graffiti in the restroom. I can deal with it but it does need to be addressed at some point. read more

It's very good (and cheap)! Right when you walk in you can see staff molding balls of maiz into tortillas to make fresh on the grill--super fresh, hot, and chewy texture! There are Jonathan Gold endorsements plastered all over the place in this location, with quotes of the late Gold even painted on the wall lol. I ordered the 6 mini taco sampler plate which offers a lot of great variety for a very affordable price under $9. This place is definitely worth trying. They put a unique spin into something very familiar as tacos, and they manage to do so without messing it up. They're consistent; they taste great every time. A major reason for this is that they have hand made tortillas!! It is a great option for taco lovers who may feel a wee bit skeptical about going to the legit LA taco trucks that cook their tacos on a portable charcoal grill on some random street. You know those are legit tho ;-) But back to guisados: I appreciate that they venture out and experiment and have more than just traditional tacos. They're all good--even the veggie ones!! I've been a fan of Guisados for years as a visitor to the LA area, so it was the first meal I had when I moved to Pasadena and it did not disappoint. Nothing can beat the fresh, homemade tortillas and the juicy, flavorful fillings. I highly recommend getting the sampler platter every time to enjoy more fillings. If you're a cheese lover, you have to try the quesadilla (which is even available in the sample platter)! Plenty of seating indoors and out with a lovely mural on the outer wall. I ate at the EastLA location a couple times when they first opened. And then once DT. But I've eaten the Pasadena location way more so I'll review here. They definitely have a loyal fan base/following. But I don't think they deserve all the praise. The handmade tortillas are good, but not great. They're usually quite undercooked. I've tried all of their guisados except for the chorizo. Not a fan of any chorizo. Like Mexican pepperoni--which I don't like either. What's good? I really liked the bistek in salsa roja and camarones and calabacitas. The pibil was pretty good too. But even these were under-seasoned. I didn't like the chicharron at all. The texture was disgusting. All the others are pretty good, but nothing special. I've never had one that blew me away. All their food suffers from being under salted and under seasoned. The chiles torreador is nothing but heat. Little else going on. I do like the space in Pasadena and the little outdoor seating area. Overall, Guisados' food is ok. There about 20 taco stands and restaurants near my house I'd rather eat at than here. read more

Everything was delicious! Here's what I got- vegetarian sampler, ( quesadilla, bean taco, zucchini taco, and mushroom taco) cheese tamale, potato taco, and fish tacos. I especially loved the mushroom tacos, the potato tacos and their red salsa was sooo good I took the extra home . Their tortilla is made fresh in house and tastes delicious and soft They also had great customer service, the guy working there was very accommodating ( he was bald and a little goatee). They're dog friendly and have plenty of seating inside and outside. I was really surprised by how quick everything was and was overall very satisfying. I originally went to the Boyle Heights location and in comparison, this Pasadena location is beautiful- well designed with indoor and outdoor seating- not fully AC equipped inside, so you might chose takeout on those scorching hot days. On the TACO subject- absolutely the best Guisado tacos I've ever had- for starters finding Cochinita Pibil is a rarity and they do it right- Smokey, right earthy achiote, and pickled red onions- handmade corn tortillas and a cold brew horchata are my favorite. read more
