The ambience is nice. A great spot for a night out if ambiance is the goal. But if the goal is high-quality Indian food, Fresno/Clovis has better options. The food looked nice but the taste was average with above average prices. Chicken saag was okay at best and cost significantly more than it's worth at $19 (with no rice). The paneer tikka masala was better but was lacking on paneer. At $20 (without rice) it was nearly double the cost of what you could get else where. Rice is included at most Indian restaurants. Here they charge $3. It's not much but it's typically included as a basic necessity. You don't eat most of the dishes here without rice, unless you're paying extra for naan. Naan was okay priced but thin and on the smaller side. At $9 for just three veggie samosas, you'd have better luck stopping by any one of the Indian markets in the area and buying samosas that are larger and priced better. Chutney was good but it was funny how much they gave considering the three small samosas. The one "winner" of the night was the tikki chaat. It was the only thing that was priced well at $13 and delicious. Customer service was severely lacking. The hostess said one thing as we entered, but so softly that I just assumed it was "how many". Walking us to our table and setting the menus down, they said nothing even after I said thank you. I made a point to smile and say thank you when they brought waters but they did so without any response. Again when they brought the plates. When the food came, they put the food down and said what it was but no response to a thank you again. This was near noon on a weekday, with the place nearly empty. I believe only three other small groups there. If they are going for the upscale vibe to justify the high prices then at minimum they need significantly better customer service. A good place for a date if you don't care about the quality of the food prices. But if you want better food at a better price, there are plenty of other options in the area.

We're back again at our favorite Indian authentic cuisine in Clovis. This restaurant has become one of our favorite restaurants in Town. Excellent service and professional staff. Delicious food as always. Lovely ambiance with Romantic Indian music. We enjoyed everything they had to offer each time we visit them. We highly recommend this place!!!

I haven't been to a bad Indian restaurant since I've been eating at them! And this one didn't fail me! We got greeted and our table as soon as We walked in. It is so pretty in here! This is the best decor I've seen in an Indian restaurant. Our order got taken, it didn't take long at all. Mannnn! If y'all haven't tried Indian food it has so much flavor! Everything was so good! And all that we got was only $42.00 it was enough to fees 3 people. We also got basmati rice! When I return, I will return!

Been awhile since we've been here. Food is always good here. Service not so much. Our server Karan was very quiet. Had to ask to order. Food was delivered rather quick, only to find it wasn't ours. Lamb Samosas were good, but normally we get sauces. Chicken Biryani was equally good as well as naan. In the past, we would finish the meal with both a sweet and spice component. Not today. Perhaps they don't do this anymore? Place is very beautiful and they give a 15% military discount.

This is actually my first 1-star review but unfortunately the experience at Gulab Indian Biristo left me no choice. We called ahead and were told the latest dine-in time was 9:00 PM. We arrived at 8:55 PM and were initially told we couldn't dine in because the kitchen closes at 9:20 PM. After explaining we had called, they let us sit, but gave us only 10 minutes to order. It felt rushed and unwelcoming from the start. The food was alright. The butter chicken was creamy and flavorful, and the lamb biryani tasted good but had mostly rice and not much meat. Garlic naan was good. Portions were fine. Price vs quality was average. Service was the real issue. We changed our order from 2 rice to 1, received 1 rice, but were charged for 2. I also had a $10 discount approved, but the check showed only $8 off. They corrected it after I pointed it out, but there was no apology. The most uncomfortable part was being pressured at our table to leave a Google review and include the staff member's name. It felt awkward and unprofessional. Overall, the food being "alright" couldn't make up for the poor service, billing mistakes, and pressure for reviews. I won't be returning. **also they have canned soda only apparently, and charge $3 and no refills**

A highly recommended restaurant from my peers. Just so happened a invite was extended to us by a fellow Yelp Elite so my wife and took the opportunity to see for ourselves what the hype was all about with this place. Service: Our group made a reservation for a party 8. We were promptly seated upon our arrival. Our server "Barleen" (sorry if I mispelled your name) was very accomodating and very welcoming of us as new guests. She gave us recommendations when asked. 5 of 5 stars Food/Offering: As a group, we ordered two orders or rice, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, veggie samosas, a few other vegeterian dishes (which I didn't quite get the names), a biryani dish (forgot the meat choice), channa masala, goat and a cauliflower concoction. In addition, we ordered veggie naan. We were also provided additional naan on the house, a toasty bread topped with condenseand and sweet sugar candy. The dishes were very flavorful! The goat however was a little on the tougher side, almost jerkyish. I also tried for the first time a Taj Mahal beer (lager) which was very good. 5 of 5. Overall: A bit on the pricier side than others but I don't mind paying a little more for good food and a good experience. It was nice to dine with my fellow Yelp Elites. I swear people were just looking at us with our cell phones snapping pictures left and right =) Also, this place caters a lot to the indian community of Fresno/Clovis especially to those that work in the medical field so I guess the trust is there that this place is good. I will most definitely come back when the craving is there.

I was told to try them out by a few people. They have a seating bar section and regular sitting. The lights are very dimmed, dark room. We did wait quite some time to get our order taken. We ordered the butter chicken, samosas, balsamic rice, and garlic naan. We were brought waters and I asked for a drink menu. We enjoyed our food and were content with the portions. The butter chicken was good not as strong flavor as others I've tried, which is good to me. We want to come back and try more dishes.

The inside is beautifully decorated. They have turquoise seats with gold embroidered designs. A nice bar area and the place is very big inside. The service was a little slow but the food made up for it. We got garlic naan, samosas, and the shrimp tikka tandoori. The naan was perfectly cooked. The samosas were nice and crispy on the outside while the potatoes were still soft. My shrimp dish was light and very flavorful. The vegetables were all crisp and fresh. The shrimp was marinated well and cooked to perfection. It did have a little spice to it but the rice kind of helped with the heat. My drink I believe was called the grasshopper. It was a little sweet for me but still good. A great first time experience here and won't be my last.

On 6/13/25 I came here with several of my Yelp peeps as a yelper we love trying new places. Upon entering it was like walking into a high class restaurant. I was greeted immediately by the host. He pointed out where my group was seated. The staff was absolutely phenomenal! We had garlic, naan and veggie samosas, which both dishes were absolutely delicious. I ended up ordering the Gulab twist it was 9/10! It was like a twist on a gin and tonic, but Indian style. I highly recommend if you like gin and tonics. We decide to order family style to try out various dishes as this was our first time dining here and definitely not my last. Staff definitely made us for welcome. The atmosphere was great. It was very lovely. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered butter, chicken, I believe chicken masala , Saag which is a spinach dish absolutely delicious, the chickpea dish was yummy as well and the cauliflower and potato dish was my number one favorite of the night. The others ordered curry, goat, and other meat dishes, which I really didn't sample since I'm a vegetarian, but I did taste a little bit of the broth and it was delicious. The staff let us try various dessert items which the hospitality was absolutely amazing . I cannot wait to come back to Gulab Indian bistro. It will definitely be on my rotation to dine out. Overall, it was a lot of fun to sample various dishes, meet the staff and share a loving meal with my Yelp peeps . Thank you, Gulab. Indian bistro for the lovely night. Cannot wait to come back!

First off the place is beautiful. We walked in and it was pretty empty . Just a couple tables taken. Took a few minutes for them to clear a table for us. I was excited to try their food because of all the great reviews. We ordered a few items to share. I really wanted to love this place but the food was mediocre and not seasoned enough. We ordered medium spice but it wasn't hot at all. I'm only giving 3 stars because there is always room for a better experience.

Definitely recommend this place! This place feels higher end with affordable prices. Our server Jap took really good care of us. He forgot to include a drink in our order and told us it's on the house. He also gave us a dessert on the house. The food portions looked small but it was a good amount. The ambiance is amazing with excellent music. It' gives cool bar vibes. First bite of garlic naan bread with tamarind sauce made me love this place immediately. Let me begin with the fact that I love Indian food. I've gone to many different Indian restaurants and Gulab stands out! The ambience was very nice, it's almost like an upscale Indian restaurant. I loved how thoughtful their menu was, it had different color codes for different dietary needs. And everything on the menu had an image with a suggestion for a wine pairing. Their food presentation is superb and it tastes even better than it looks. The servers came by just enough to keep everybody happy without being intrusive or overbearing. I got the vegetable samosas, vegetable manchurians, and fish pineapple curry with plain rice and garlic naan. The vegetable samosas were very good. What impressed me the most about them was how soft the bread was! Sometimes sections of the bread are overly hard and crunchy, but it was pastry soft. I cannot recommend the vegetable manchurians enough, a slight sweet and spicy and a subtle crisp to the outer edge of the ball and the flavor is amazing! The curry is flavorful everything is cooked to perfection. I was very pleased with garlic naan because it did not shy away from the flavor of the garlic. Many places I've gone to and they had "garlic" naan. I cannot recommend this place enough and cannot wait to go back myself! read more

Just walking up to the door, the smell of the food was so good. The restaurant is new and nicely remodeled. This was only the third or fourth day that the restaurant has been open, so there was only bottles and cans of beer. Wine and a full bar is supposed to be in the works. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was great. The naan was probably the best I have had anywhere. Everything was delicious and I will definitely be back. read more

The best Indian food in the fresno/clovis area. Found this little gem hole in the wall a few months ago. When you enter, you get an elegant sit-down ambiance with an upscale feel. I ordered the paneer Tika Masala and tried their goat/mutten curry. Flavors are on point. Harpreet our server was very friendly and delightful. She asked for our order and took care of us the whole night. If you are in the East side of clovis, I recommend coming here for authentic Indian food. The Nan is melt in your mouth. read more

Our waiter Dev was exceptional He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made great recommendations and ensured our glasses were always full. The service was top-notch and made our dining experience truly special. Dev prepared good drinks for us from the bar, he prepared the best drink with green sauce which was his own recipe. BEST Indian food I have ever had. Ordered the chicken korma and it was flavorful, creamy, and the chicken was so tender and juicy. The garlic naan was the best I have ever had.The food and dessert was a 10/10! Tandoori Chicken appetizer was phenomena.I will be back! Can't wait to try something new next time. read more

Food was absolutely delicious, ambience was amazing. But.... there is a but.... the Hostess was evidently racist towards white people. Didn't want to seat us, didnt give any white people the desert tray advertised, and barely paid any attention to us at our table. Felt rushed by her all the way thru. I will dine here again, as like i said the food is glorious. Just know if you're white, you might be ignored a little. read more

Once again Fresno/Clovis proves that the Indian food scene here is as good as any place around. Just open for three days and Gulab is putting out some amazing dishes! We ordered the veggie samosas and what a treat! They were so flavorful and had just the right amount of spice and heat to them. Next up was the Gulab Garlic shrimp appetizer and it was so tasty! The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the yogurt & coconut sauce on them was just done right! Up next was the Chicken Tikka Masala and this also was amazing. The mixture of flavor and spice was perfectly balanced and the Chicken was tender and both married together damn well. We also had garlic naan and it was pillowy soft and had an outside that lent some crispness and char that carried it over the top! This is a must go to place if you like Indian Food and the interior is as amazing as the food! read more

This place should be the best Indian Restaurant in Clovis and Fresno area. I have ordered food to-go on multiple occasions now (Dinner and Lunch *today), and I have never been disappointed. Food is fresh, nicely packed, good amount, and delicious to be honest. I will definitely recommend 1.Chicken Dhaba* seekh kabobs with Tandoori Roti 2.Gulab tandoori Chicken with tandoori roti 3. For Lunch definitely Aloo (potatoe) prathas. It came with some kind of Cucumber, onion, achaar salad. Let me tell you, its delicious the salad it self. 4.Samosa chaat Just their tandoori roti is soooo good I can eat it by itself. **They also gave us free gulab jamun as we order constantly, and their jamun are fresh, warm and not overly sweet. read more

Wow! Met some friends for a relaxing and peaceful meal at Gulab. The food was spot on. Our server Harpreet, was efficient, quick and attentive. She helped us choose our meal items, but did not rush us. The restaurant has a very upscale vibe, but it is welcoming and warm. The service was outstanding. I was a bit nervous to recommend this restaurant, as it was only my second visit, but the food did not disappoint! We loved the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Chaat Samosas, garlic naan and the Vegetable Pakora. If you like Indian food, or you want to try something different, you will enjoy this restaurant. read more

The worst restaurant I've ever gone to. It takes them 45 minutes to clean a fucking table. The ambience sucks because they don't work as a team. People stand around but won't help clean. They can send text messages though. read more

Our family just finished our first meal at Gulab. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly from start to finish. The ambiance is very nice -- tastefully decorated with subdued lighting. The subtle blue theme is a nice touch. Our server, Harpreet, was really helpful with ordering, including helping us with suggestions when we weren't sure what to select. The food was delicious -- the fish curry and lamb biryani were especially good. The presentation of the lamb biryani was particularly well-done. One nice touch that my wife appreciated was that they leave a call button at your table -- you can just press it if you'd ever like service. We'd go back (and almost certainly well) without hesitation. Thumbs up... read more

This place was great! The decor is beautiful outside and inside. I love how it is dimly lit. My party of about 8 sat at the bar, and still had a great experience. Akash was so patient and funny! We've been 3 times and I crave it, it's so delicious! It has a spice level. We get medium and it's plenty spicy! Not sure we could handle anything hotter. So much flavor. It's nice to each get a dish and eat it family style. We always get rice and naan too. Cocktails are fabulous too. I love the Gulab Twist. Basically gin and tonic with some Indian spices. Yum. Let me start off by saying, the service is amazing. They have a call button so you're able to enjoy your meal without interruptions and your waiter is able to work without worrying about you. The food was wonderful, everything came out fresh. Their garlic naan was amazing. We ordered the plain rice, garlic naan, chicken tikki masala, vegetable samosas and butter chicken. Left Without Eating Because of Disappointing Service I was really looking forward to dining here, hoping for a warm and welcoming experience from a place that represents our culture. Unfortunately, the service was so lackluster and cold-especially toward patrons who seemed to be from the Indian community-that we decided to leave before even ordering. It's heartbreaking when a restaurant serving our own cuisine doesn't show kindness or respect to its own people. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is always friendly, and I'm greeted and seated quickly every time I visit. The food comes out fresh, hot, and consistently delicious. One of the things I love most is how generous the portions are. The plates are so big that my boyfriend and I will sometimes share a meal, and we still leave satisfied. My go-to order is the chicken shawarma plate with Fattoush salad, hummus, and warm pita bread--it's absolutely incredible every single time. If you're looking for authentic Mediterranean food with excellent service, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to go.
