This is a great local place to go and watch a sports game. It is bar food with an amazing beer list. They have TVs everywhere. Is a great place for groups or to just have a quick drink. I have been coming here for a while. Unfortunately the food has been going downhill. The last time we were there we ordered nachos and some sandwiches. The sandwiches were average. The nachos came out with an awful shredded chicken and two pieces of Jalapeños and almost no melted cheese. Check out the picture. It's the laziest nachos on the planet. I used to love Gullifty's. It was the perfect place to watch a game, or enjoy a summer night on the patio. I knew most of the staff and it always felt like home.The food was always excellent and there were many choices/. The choice of craft beer was second to none. Sadly, those days are long past. My friend arrived early on a Tuesday around 6 in the evening. Things were not busy. Where do I start? Our food was cold. The server never brought salt, pepper or grated cheese to our table. She was completely inattentive and at one point left us sitting while she disappeared, This all makes me very sad. This used to be one of my favorites but no more. BTW we might have ordered dessert but with the slow service it was not even worth it to do so. read more

I used to love it but this weekend it was terrible. I went with my boyfriend and a friend. They ordered fries and fried cheese. I got soup. The fried cheese came with a side of marinara that should not have had peppers per the server. It did. My friend is very allergic so this was bad. Our server took away my soup while I was still eating and had the spoon in my hand. They were out of the cider on tap and couldn't figure out the cans. My boyfriend was seated between two tables that they had pushed together to make a booth and there was a leak between tables and the water leaked between them so he left wet footprints when he went to the restroom and his pants were wet around the knees. I was pretty satisfied with my experience at Gullifty's during a lunch outing with my husband. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we basically we craving typical bar type foods (pizza, sandwiches, fries, etc). Since it was so nice out we were able to sit at their outdoor patio. Our server was good in the beginning but seemed to forget about us as time went on. So much so that another staff member came to check up on us to see if we needed any refills. It was game time for the NFL so there were some food and drink specials. They have a decent tap list and has something for every taste. My husband ordered a game day special pizza Chicken Diablo and I got the Port and Pesto sandwich with sweet potato fries. Definitely would recommend this sandwich. Very tasty and very plentiful. My husband's pizza was good too but since our server started to forget about us his pizza came out much later than mine. We were in no rush and he was enjoying his drink but I was almost finished my meal by the time his pizza came out. He didn't want me to wait but it's still a bummer. Overall this place hit the spot for the type of food we were craving and we will probably eat here again if we get a hankering for bar food. read more

Food was delicious!! But the beer/service at the bar at 1:30/2pm not so much. Sat down at the bar, waited at least 5 minutes for someone to come to the bar and get my order. I just enjoy domestic light beers, ordered a Miller light. Waited another few mins for a good pour. Bartender was using a tool to take loads and loads of foam out. He said it's been acting up all week. It was flat, so changed to Bud light and it was a little better for the carbonation, not flat at least. Service at the bar was slim, bartender mostly not at the bar. Food was amazing though. Best cheesesteak I've had in a long time!!!! Old Original Bookbinders, Seafood & Steakhouses, Old Guard Classics; these are expected to stand the test of time & stick around, often for hundreds of years. Gullifty's is a rarity, only TGI Friday's (casual fare) has been around as long but doesn't even come close to the quality of Gullifty's. Chef Louie is THE BEST, & gets it right EVERY TIME!!! The French Onion Soup was SUPERB; flavorful, fabulous, incredibly tasty & well-seasoned broth, with NO droopy onions (no onions period) as requested, made it GOOD 'til the last drop. Paper-thin pounded chicken breasts with the most divine sherry cream sauce & sauteed crimini mushrooms make the Chicken Christie a stand-out & sooo hard to resist. Chef Louis is one of the 1st to take the "paper thin" request sooo seriously to heart. This guy is simply The Greatest!!! I think you have a genius social media manager because, upon finding myself on the Main Line with my picky-eater mom yesterday, I suggested you for lunch based on remembering that correspondence and knowing of no other restaurants in the area. First: Place is pretty. Second: Food is also pretty. We started with the fried mozzarella that comes with honey mustard. So good! My mom (re: picky) noted that they were the "best she's ever had." I'd have to agree with her. She then went with the "no filler" crab cake sandwich, and I had the Chimay Grand Réserve Cheddar Ale Philly Cheesesteak (just copied and pasted that from their online menu because it's a fancy name.) Both were great choices. There are so many more items on the menu that sound interesting, prices are fair, and I'd definitely recommend. I just wish I lived closer to visit again! I wanted to take my son here when he came in from New York because I USED to love it. What a disappointment. I waited patiently for a table, the hostess. Was great but when we were finally seated we go NO service. I mean none! Casual neighborhood sports bar with plenty of available seating and friendly service. It's close proximity to a number of colleges makes it great for an affordable dinner destination for students as well as families on the Main Line. I think the food is very solid, though the menu is quite expansive (I feel sometimes this can work as a detriment). The cheesesteaks, wraps, and flatbreads are all high quality, but make certain to order the fried mozzarella appetizer. It's ridiculous. Lastly, they have over 40 beers on tap so if you're a beer drinker, you won't have trouble finding a brew up your alley. read more

The employees I encountered are really nice, just a little inexperienced and need some guidance. It was clear the place was understaffed, especially for the size of the place. Food: I tried the loaded potato skins and the pesto veg sandwich with portobello mushrooms. Potato skins were meh, not crispy at all, and the quality of the cheese was on par with kraft slices. Good amount of food for the price, but the flavor was lacking. As for the sandwich, they skimped on the mushroom since it was just a single portobello cap plus other veggies in small quantities. The pesto wasn't very good and needs a lot of work-shopping. In general, the sandwich could be bigger and I would highly recommend more mushrooms and veggies. To go with my sandwich, I chose the sweet potato fries, which were, hands down, my favorite item from the place. They were crispy, sweet, and salty in all the best ways. The dipping sauce that went with it was perfect, too! My parents thought their pasta and flatbread were good, though. In the future, I hope the restaurant has more people taste-test the food they make, because it could use a lot of work on that front. read more

Stopped in here for drinks and light appetizers after taking in a film at the Bryn Mawr. Things are much the same which is to say pretty good. Service was good, drinks were fine, food was ok. We were able to get a booth and talk for a while which was terrific. This is a fixture on Philly's Main Line--it's kind of been here forever--but for what it is, it's great! read more

Tremendous beer list. Cheap well drinks, special drinks can get a little pricy, buyer beware. I had a Old fashioned that was served without being shaken and without a stir stick. Busy night at the bar meant I had to flag down the bar tender after nursing the drink for 8 minutes or so. Once stirred, very tasty. Fried Calamari is one of the best appetizers there, potato skins are good too. Desserts are great, it's very hard to save room but at least one time when you visit, either pile it in or only get an appetizer. Key lime pie is out of this world. Last night I have the Ciro Chicken fajitas served sizzling with peppers and onions same old same old? NO. Fried chicken tenders tossed in hot wing sauce! and served with cheese, lettuces, tomato, sour cream, salsa and four flour tortillas. add 1$ for guacamole :( However the amount of chicken could hardly fit in 5 tortillas let alone 4, but don't worry, I made it work. This bar and grille off the Main Line is a great place to hang out and get a good bite of eat. The Zhuròu Yumi (Pork Nachos) is okay - definitely greasy, so it was hard to appreciate the cheese and sauce. Maybe good before a lot of drinking, but by themselves a little much. I absolutely loved the grilled portabello sandwich - delicious with lots of veggies and a well-marinated potabello cap. My wife got the Gullifty burger which was good, except the requested "medium rare" was definitely "medium well." I had really high hopes. We walked in and were greeted by the host with a ton of energy and enthusiasm. He made recommendations on the menu. Good music playing. This is good, right... well... waiting waiting waiting for the food, Anyone coming by? No. Where'd our waitress go? I had heard really wonderful things about Gulliftys so I was excited to try this place for dinner last night. Unfortunately while the food was good, the attitude of the staff and service left a LOT to be desired. I will say that I can get pizza and wine a lot of places. That's not memorable to me. I do remember your staff acting as if we were a burden to them. Ill start with the food and drinks. We all ordered a round of Cabernet with waters. Water came immediately, Cabernet? Not so much. Our waitress walked up to us off the bat just saying "can I get you guys something to drink?". No "hi how are you" nothing. The cabs took probably 10-15 minutes to get back to us and only 2 came the first time? She had to bring back the 3rd. After dropping those off there was no less than a 15-20 minute wait before she showed again to take our order. We got nachos as an app, and dinner was fish and chips, pizza, and duck flatbread. All the food was good, my fish and chips were crispy and not too heavy. Pizza was yummy and the duck flatbread was good even though they forgot the salad she ordered with it. Now to the cons, we walked in the front door to the main restaurant and the asked the young hostess up front if there was room outside. "There's a host outside" was her response as she stared blankly at us. Okay...how do we get there...which direction? Like give me something here. It was as if we annoyed her. So once we figured out what way to go we approached the other hostess who also seemed annoyed by us when we asked how long the wait was "I don't know really" was her response. Okay can you give us an educated guess? We are here to give you guys money but we just seem to be annoying you. Overall, this could be a great spot but unless I just came on an off night staffing wise then they need to give their entire staff some customer service training. Came here on a recent Saturday night with family. We got there at about 6:30 and it was packed. We were told there would be a 30-45 minute wait so we sat and hoped for the best. The hostess got us about ten minutes later to say they had a table for us which was great!! Our waitress Michaela was awesome! Very attentive and kind throughout. All of our food came out in good time and everyone mostly enjoyed their meals. I had the crabcake sandwich which is my usual there, very tasty and fresh. Other family members got chicken parm, burgers, and a wrap - everyone seemed content. No room for dessert but so many options that looked amazing. I'm glad to see Gullifty's has gotten back to good food again, for awhile it was hit or miss but it's been really impressing me recently. read more

He Said: Ouch. We came for a family dinner and due to the size of the party (I think we had 15 or 20) we sat downstairs. On a beautiful day in which the upstairs and outdoor seating were packed we have to figure they put the scrub team of servers in the basement. The service was awful. I think they must have gotten the hint when one of us got up the second or third time to ask a server to come over to get us a new round of drinks or another app, but it was a bad experience. We're pretty friendly and fun people, so I can promise you we were not rude or in any way deserving of being ignored. As for the food: largely forgettable. Service was also poor because our server came up once every half hour despite not being busy at all. My husband ended his shift late but I really wanted to celebrate his birthday with him. This was one of the few places close by that was open past 9pm on a Tuesday, so I decided we'd give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised to find this place next to the Barre3 I'd gone to once before. When we got there we waited a good 2-3 minutes just looking around for a hostess to seat us. Finally I told my husband "I'm going in," and flagged down a waitress. It was immediately apparent they were short-staffed. Granted, it was within an hour of their closing by that point, but still a little disappointing to have to chase someone down to wait on us. We could have easily just walked away and I don't think anyone would have noticed. There was a late night happy hour menu, which was cool. The rum punch was excellent. The bacon and cheese fries were OK. They weren't sizzling hot and neither was the buffalo popcorn chicken my husband got. I suspect it may have cooled off a little while the waitress got to the other tables. Dinner wasn't so great, for me at least. I was not impressed with my mac and cheese, which was supposed to have bacon in it (I only found a few pieces here and there). The chicken in it didn't taste well-seasoned and, sorry to say, I did not find the mac and cheese recipe altogether tasty. It was a small serving and yet I still left a lot on my dish. Service was pretty good. Our table was not set when we first sat down and they had to bring forks and napkins. At one point the waitress brought out new forks and sat the forks directly on the table (thankfully I'm not a germaphobe and did ask for more napkins). Later on in the night the table started to get a little crowded with used napkins that could have been cleared off in a few of the wait staff's trips. Again, the waitress seemed to be tending to multiple tables, so I will give her a break. It looked like the manager (?) stepped in a few times to wait on us. Dessert was a peanut butter pie, which was actually the highlight of the night for me besides the rum punch. That tasted delicious. I think my hubs enjoyed his strawberry pie as well. All in all, A-Ok. I would return if I was in the area for Barre or something. They have some things they could work on, but it's deserving of a second try to really give a fair grade. read more

Wow- I've been coming since the 70's- the 19-70s. Was an institution here, a cash cow for the owner. In past 2 years, the menu has been hugely reduced, eliminating such wildly popular items such as fajitas (which were fabulous.) Portion sizes have gone from generous on huge plates to just-barely-enough on mid- to tiny plates. Tables in the bar area have been downsized, now most are 2-tops only (don't know why.) Decor colors inside are oddly clown-like (as of 8 or so years ago). Beer draft varieties reduced recently but still good. Pizza, cheesesteak, burgers still excellent, but . . . . Any more cutbacks and this place will be in serious trouble. Please take heed, son of founder! Too many cutbacks will bite you! read more

I hadn't been to this place since I was a Villanova student a few years ago but my fiance and I just went last night with his family. We were going to an event nearby and I remembered Gullifty's as a decent place to eat. We made a reservation on open table, but since we were there a little earlier (5pm) it probably wasn't necessary. However, I have dined there at later times when I was at Nova and I definitely recommend making a reservation for later on a weekend, it does get packed and busy! Overall, the food is decent as I remembered. I had buffalo chicken fajitas which was pretty cool as it combined two of my favorite things in one. My fiance got a burger and really enjoyed it. The pretzel buns they come on are FANTASTIC! I had a bite and was blown away. My fiance's family enjoyed their meals as well. I wish I had saved room for their homemade pumpkin ice cream. Their pumpkin cheesecake is really good as I've had it in the past and I'm bummed I was too full for dessert. Gullifty's is a pretty decent place, but it is pretty loud so keep that in mind if you're looking for a quiet night out. read more
