I was part of a sizeable (25-30 pax) post-concert "swarm" of Gullifty's on a Sunday evening in August 2026. Overall, I was super happy with the quality of service, food, and drink. The casual indoor spaces were comfortable and not too loud. The spritzes were tasty, and my shrimp Caesar wrap was fresh and flavorful. While the restaurant knew we were coming, the staff deserves praise for their patience and good humor amidst the chaos. I would happily return for happy hour! read more

Gullifty's has been a Main Line family-owned mainstay for many years. I've been dining there for a long time. Over the years, the quality of the food has remained high. My wife and I recently went to a reservation at Gullifty. The ambience and service were both great. Unfortunately the food was not. The food was very standard and lack flavor and authenticity. This was probably one of the first times I've seen my wife eat a meal and not finish her meal or want to take it away. I tried to buy if her mail towards the end of dinner and I was surprised. I did not like it either. She ordered the barbecue chicken with mashed potatoes and a side salad. I would consider myself a foodie, but I was surprised at the food quality of this restaurant. We've been going here for 20+ years and usually have a great experience. This time it was a disaster. The nachos were on a paper plate and looked like a 5 year old prepared them. The wait took forever. My pizza was incorrect and the server argued with me that I was wrong. He then came back to tell me I was in fact correct. At this point everyone had eaten so I asked for it to go. And they still forgot it. Finally got the pizza with the check. Guess what? Wrong pizza again. We haven't been to Gullifty's in awhile. I was in the mood for their chocolate mousse pie. We went on Saturday at 5:30pm. It wasn't crowded. Our server was Austin M. He was friendly and checked on us periodically. We decided to split the pulled pork and pickle pizza. The 14" was a good size for 2 to split. The pizza was delicious. Austin recommended some ranch dressing for dipping. It was delicious. When we asked for 2 slices of chocolate mousse pie, Austin delivered the bad news that they were out of it. He suggested the Irish cream chocolate chip cheesecake. We declined. I was surprised that they were out of the chocolate mousse pie especially since there was a card on the table showing it as a featured dessert with their homemade peppermint ice cream. We will have to try again another time. They do serve Coke products and have plenty of parking in the lot. read more

I came here recently with friends and family before a concert. Conversation and hanging was an astounding 1000 stars. Food was a 3 that didn't make me feel so good the following hours. We got there during Happy Hour so all appetizers and certain drinks were discounted 20%. My regular margarita had a bad blend of liquor and mix and was not good. The watermelon margarita was only slightly better according to my kid. The off-menu Grey Goose and cranberry was "quite nice" from what my wife said requiring a second one. My friends had Pizza Boy beers which they enjoyed thoroughly. We all went with a bunch of appetizers due to the Happy Hour discount. We had some winners and others not so much. The mozzarella sticks were nicely fried 1" cubes of cheese that went well with the marinara. The Brussels sprouts also were well prepared with a nice crisp and the bacon and other stuff inside made this a fun thing to eat. Fried pickles were meh and forgettable. Where things were not so good were with all the tacos. Gullifty's has no clue about filling up the store flour shells. They were quite chintzy with the insides. The unusual sounding alligator tacos (real alligator tail) were little fried pieces of nothing that I guess was alligator. A gimmick that my friends and I both fell for and they just sucked. The BBQ carnitas tacos my kid had also had hardly any filling or real taste. My French onion soup actually was a hit if not a little torched on the cheese. Lastly, my wife went with a regular menu item of fish and chips. Too many French fries and not enough fish. She said it was "fine," which is not much of a compliment. The BBQ chicken wings my friend got were decent, and the salad was just ok. The large restaurant was quite empty and literally cold on a Monday evening so when we got to sit outside at the end of October feeing almost Summer-like was much better. Service was very friendly and mostly attentive. I'm told this place is a huge Villanova favorite. They could make some improvements in the food department. $95 not including tip for three drinks, two appetizers, a soup, and three mains (based on how the menu works). I didn't go inside this place because I was in a hurry and very hungry! I needed an order gluten free, nut free, and shell fish free. This place was awesome at accommodating and even offered to bring the food out to the car and take payment over the phone! They once had an employee who has celiac and he created some gluten free options so this was great! The chicken sandwich was delicious. Nicely marinated, not too dry. The old place looks better but the food was awful. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad and there was just no excuse for the poor quality of everything on the plate. The salad was overdressed. The salmon sub-par and not fresh. The beets were canned (a slight grey hue and uniform tiny cubes) and the greens were terrible. With all the abundant fresh greens around now, there is no excuse for ugly, tasteless greens. Greens are sold next door for example. I had a better salad in Russia. My friend's meal was also bad. Looked bad, tasted bad. The drink was good-- I will give them that. The server was sweet, but perhaps this was a vacuous strategy for having to serve up this mess. read more

Not sure what happened over time. First, I admit I failed to read the menu carefully. I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken. It's in a heavy balsamic glaze. I have written several reviews in the past about Gullifty's. We have been going there for about 20 years and basically love the place. Two weeks ago we went there and were there for more than three hours because the service was SO SLOOOOOOOOW! All the food and drinks were great, was usual, but it seemed to take forever to get the food and then to get the bill. I normally pay by credit card but did not do so this time because I had no idea when or if the server would come back with my credit card. Last Wednesday we went again, and it was 100 percent different. The food and drinks were great again, as usual, but everything came out within a reasonable time. And we basically fell in love with our server, Alexis. She has lots of personality, is very efficient (she came back several times to ask how things were going), and if that's not enough, she is very pretty. (I apologize; I know that it's politically incorrect to mention it, even though it is obvious to everyone.) if I had a restaurant, I would offer Alexis a lot to come and work there! read more

Very nice update of our favourite family place of 35 years ago. The dining area is nicer, well done. The server was excellent. Hard to evaluate the food because I just had an omelet and my wife had a tasty apple-infused french toast, not gourmet foods that take much culinary skill. Gullifty's is now one of the family "go to" spots for birthdays and luncheons as the menu is very safe and everyone can find something they like. Today we had a party of 7 and John (from the bar outside) and Chris?? were our wonderful and attentive servers. The prices are not cheap - but nothing is these day - $9.00 for French Onion soup and $12.00 for a wedge salad (very good and fresh). I added $7.50 for a few medium sized grilled shrimp to be added. I can't believe I forgot to update this one. A few years ago I wrote a bad review of Gullifty's. I didn't just criticize the food. I pretty much called the owner a lunatic. Well right after that the owner got in touch with me. It turns out that he's like the nicest guy in the world. He invited me back to the restaurant and picked my brain. I moved away for a while and when I came back I finally returned to Gullifty's. It was great! This place is a local institution for a reason. They're constantly reinventing themselves within the mold of an affordable family bar and restaurant. We'll be back, hopefully for years to come. read more

We've been going to Gullifty's for over 20 years. In the past, the food has been pretty good, but service is typically slow. We tried it last night to see if new management and renovations would enhance our experience. Unfortunately, it was lackluster. The food service was slow, even though the place was empty. My individual pizza was bland. My wife ordered a turkey burger with mushrooms, which had few mushrooms, and had a skimpy amount of chips. A rather bland meal, and not cheap. I had a reservation for a party of 6 on Saturday night. We arrived early and were told the table we would be going to had received their check, so we waited on the couches in the front. Around the time of our reservation the host came to get us and proceeded to try to seat us at a table for 4. We then awkwardly stood to the side without acknowledgment and about 10 minutes later were seated at another table for 4 in the bar area that had 2 extra chairs squeezed in. Once we started ordering we were informed that the drinks included with the kids' meals were only soft drinks-logical? Then the kids' meals came out before the rest of the food and we waited 20 minutes longer (as soon as the kids were done eating) for our food to come. We did not receive any further service until we were done eating when we were informed that they were out of most of the desserts. This was an interesting stop and if you go to Gullifty's you may be eating the best cheesesteak on the Main Line and possibly the Philadelphia area. The cheesesteak I ate was finely chopped and drowning in the most amazing Gullifty's made cheese sauce. After an uncomfortable conversation with Owner Jason and a quick taste test you should be eating a less chopped cheesesteak meat that glistens with a fresh morning dew of the best beer cheese sauce ever made. We had a pretty good experience here. It was more crowded than we expected so it was good we made a reservation. Our table was ready when we arrived which was great. We had a good waitress who remembered a 6 person order without writing anything down. The potato soup was good. The fajitas was also good. The chicken sandwich with cheese and fried onions is very good and the Thanksgiving bowl is also good if a little salty. I'm not sure what my vegetarian/occasional pescatarian husband has ordered there, but he's enjoyed it enough in the couple of times we've visited that he has suggested we go back. We've shared and enjoyed the brussels sprouts. It's pretty cozy for a bar/restaurant and I saw someone making balloon animals, presumably for children, the last time we were there. There was a table with a few children so I think despite the nearby bar, it is a decent place for families. Hot tip for anybody who can't handle stairs: don't go in the main entrance! Park along the side where Mom's Market is and under a sort of awning you will find the stairs-free entrance. I suggest going for lunch or arriving an hour or so early so that you can explore the fabulous used bookstore that is on the other side of the parking lot. read more

Well trained staff though few in number on this Monday night, the service did not suffer at all, and the teamwork (which always impresses me) was evident. Anthony at the door (and pretty much anyplace else he was needed) and our server John worked seamlessly and professionally. Yet a third person brought our dinner, likely to ensure it was delivered timely and hot. I mean these folks were moving with a sense of mission. In my long experience this never happens by accident. Someone in senior management is screening staff for affability and work ethic AND most importantly customer driven attitude - then supplying effective training. Anthony and John are both fine ambassadors for Gullifty's. My wife had a quiche and salad while I opted for the filet tips accompanied by perfectly flavored mashed potatoes and a sherry cram sauce. John wisely advised that, if as stated I wished my filet tips medium rare, would I mind if the tenderloin tips were delivered 'on the side' as otherwise they might wind up overcooked in the sauce. Very much appreciated - and definitely customer-focused. He read me well, determined how best to address my preferences. Good for the kitchen, good for the customer, and good for the operation. By today's standard I considered the value (defined as the relationship of the entire experience and the $$$ charged for same) was superior. read more

Gave Gullifty's another chance. Went on 9/29 to grab food and watch the Eagles game. Bartender placed a menu in front of me and didn't greet or otherwise acknowledge my presence. Walked by me no less than 8 times and nothing. So sad a place I used to enjoy can be this bad. Maybe I don't fit the requisite demographic. Who knows. Literally the worst place I've been to on the Main Line. Hopefully your experience is better than mine. It can't be worse!!! read more

It's been here for years. First visit in 1984. Lots of changes but still reliable. Loved our dishes though the menu is a little meh. Only 2 other tables for our late mother's day lunch. One occupied by the chef's family. Assumption on my part. He was very social and even cleaned up after they left. Also eavesdropped on a casual interview. Seemed like a great guy whoever he was. Think they are getting cheaper cuts of meat from what they were serving when they first started offering the steaks. They smother them in some sauce and it's very disappointing. The place was packed and we were told we'd wait for half an hour, and then were seated in five minutes. The place was packed and loud, but the service was amazing. I didn't get the name of our server but she was from SoCal and deserves a huge raise and a hug! The food isn't bad. I had just appetizers. the chicken quesadilla is really good. The nachos are not good--it's the cheese they use. My friends enjoyed their sandwiches and I had a bite of the salmon sandwich. Good, not great. The drinks were very good. I cracked and tried their newest drink called "the process." It had ginger ale and tasted sweet and I could drink it all day, it's so dangerously good. I also liked the Angry Orchard Rose Cider.
