I guess I panicked when my clutch failed and took my 2017 wrx to Gurley Leep where I bought it new a long time ago. I paid the $207 diagnostic fee only to be told that the whole clutch needed to be replaced. I could not get any specifics about what exactly was wrong, only that it was toast and needed to be replaced. $4k incl tax and various fees. I thought it sounded a bit steep and towed it down the street to a repair shop where I got it properly diagnosed and repaired for less than $1,100 incl taxes and fees. Turned out the clutch itself was fine. I then got repeat txts from GL to rate my experience and I gave it 3/10 stars. 1 star for the "job", but Steven at the service center was nice. Got additional txts and the manager left a message on my voice mail to ask why I couldn't give them a 10/10? I tried to call him back to relay my experience as I thought it might be helpful for him to know how things look from the customer side but it kept going to voice mail. I write this review mainly because I want to warn others of getting a similar or worse experience. Can't believe that service at an official Subaru dealership can be this poor. Probably OK to buy a Subaru from them but consider going elsewhere for service unless they change. read more

My wife and I lost our truck in the tornado at Menards up in Three Rivers on March 6th. After driving to many locations and also many phone calls, Aron from Gurley Leep Hyundi Subaru was one of the few sales people who stayed in contact with me to try to help us find another truck. Absolutely disgusted by this service department. We took a vehicle in - under warrantee - with a check engine light. We made an appointment for it. What a joke! They have had it for five weeks. They have never initiated contact with us about the status. Each time when we call, we are told they are working on it "as we speak". FIVE WEEKS! Twice we've been promised a call from the manager. Twice he never called. I am now on my way to a lawyer to force them to repair the car or pay for someone else to do so. read more

I have gone to this place a handful of times now. I have yet to have a positive experience. Every time I go in for a routine oil change, they request hundreds of dollars in service that is not needed nor even suggested by the manufacture. This notably being a fuel induction service that Hyundai recommends every 60,000 miles but my car only had ~30,000. Additionally, I had to go in for a brake service this week. not only was it an expensive repair to resurface rotors on a three year old car, but they did not even fix the issue. I had to bring in my car again as the rotor was rubbing on something. And finally, with this brake ordeal, the brakes behave nowhere near as they did before. and the service technician just told me "that's how they are". I've driven identical cars to mine and they did not perform this way. This place is both incompetent and only focused on separating you from your money. read more

NOTE: This review is specifically for the Service Center. Thoroughly disappointed with my experience there, and cannot recommend anyone take their cars. Five months ago, brought in my Subaru for a serpentine belt. Gave Gurley Leep a lot of money for that, but expected that my car would be safely driven for some time afterwards. Took it into Jiffy Lube for an oil change last week, and their techs immediately diagnosed by the serpentine belt was failing, caused by a loose power steering pump. How did Gurley Leep *not* catch that five months ago? Brought it back to GL on a Friday. No call back. Saturday came and went. It wasn't until late afternoon Monday that they finally got back to me. Not only was GL ready to charge me $175 more than Jiffy Lube to fix the power steering pump, but they conveniently "found" three other problems marked "Needs immediate attention." All told, they were willing to charge me nearly $1,700 more to get my car up to shape. Their staff, specifically Cindy, took zero accountability for their tech's mistakes. Nobody has called to apologize or offer any path for restitution. They were ready to charge me nearly $2k more for work they completely missed five months ago. Seriously, take your car to Jiffy Lube. Their techs know what they're doing, and charge less to do it right. I'll never consider GL again after this experience and hope you steer clear. read more

I've had to take my car here a couple times for service that needed the dealer instead of my normal mechanic. The first time was for a part recall. Within 10 minutes of dropping it off, I receive a text message with a list of 6 things that are "immediate attention" and they are asking to fix. I told them to wait, took it to my normal mechanic who inspected the list I was given and said I didn't need any of those things. Recently, I had to take my car in for transmission issue(this is years later and unrelated to the first example) which could only be fixed my the dealer. The same thing happened where they said I needed my spark plugs replaced and it required immediate attention, however I had recently done that with my mechanic. Again, they are trying to take advantage of me and get me to pay for things I don't need. When I got my car back, they called the next day to see how it was and if I was satisfied with the service. I called back three times, no answer the first two, and left a message on the final call mentioning something that still felt off with the vehicle. Never heard back from them. Called again and mentioned new issues that have come up mere two days after the work they did and now that I have finally gotten a hold of them, they said I can't get back in for another 10 days. Terrible customer service and shady operations. I hate that some of these issues can only be fixed with the dealer but as I am looking to get a new car now, you can guarantee I will not be using any of the Gurley Leep branches for my new vehicle. They won't care because they have such a dominant presence in the area but avoid them at all cost. read more

Went there today to get my oil changed, not from south bend but needed my oil changed while traveling - so stopped in, usually there are refreshments such as water, soda and coffee at my normal Subaru. So to have no drinks available was unusual, then I see a man asking for a cup to get a drink. The sales guy hands him 1 styrofoam cup, the guy tries to get coffee but there isn't any. No way to make any either. I step into the bathroom after a woman worker comes out, the toilet will not flush and it's evident it hasn't work in a very long time. I mention this to a sales rep as I step out, he laughs and says, "yeah, we know". I then watch another woman who works there go into that restroom. She is still in there when 3 co-works walk out of a meeting, I notice that one of those men are pictured as the manager on a poster which states: Enjoy a snack and drink on us! He walks over to the restroom and screams loudly, "hey (the name of the gal in the restroom) How you doing in there! Everything coming out ok", as he walks away laughing and looks to me for a laugh, in an attempt to shame her. One of the women that was in the meeting with the manager says, "awe...leave her alone. Be nice!" If my boss shamed me for being in the bathroom like this manager of this Subaru did to his employee, I would leave that job and place a human resource complaint on him. When all was done with my 3 mth oil change, I'm handed a bill stating they found 1800.00 in work that needed to be done. Remember I just serviced my vehicle 3 mths ago, had my complete 36,000. Check up- had breaks put on and new tires put on. So I was shocked that they were recommending new breaks, new rotors, oils changed, rotors repaired, tires rotated, and many other things. I threw a fit and told them I just had all this done at my regular Subaru which they assured me that my Subaru dealership where I have bought multiple Subaru vehicles and serviced them all right there did not do the work that I paid them for! I said well if that's correct I will sue them. I left and called my dealership. The next week I go to my dealership where they personally take me in the shop and prove to me everything that they stated was a big fat hairy nasty lie!! They saw a woman walk in and thought they could take advantage of me!! To the tune of 1800.00. Sorry boys..... this girl don't play ball with con artist. I paid for my oil change and I will never be back! When I drove my car out, they supposedly washed my car- but my front window I couldn't see out of because they had written something in orange pen across my windshield. The new girl was so proud to tell me, we give free car washes, I see I was charged 15. For that free damn car wash now!!! read more

We were on vacation in MI when our A/C died on our Subaru with less than 28,000 miles! Gurley Leep Subaru located in Mishawaka Indiana, was the closest Subaru dealership available, 42 miles away. I called five days prior and set up the appointment for 9:00am. Then the day before the appointment I called to confirm. The young man told me I was scheduled for 9:15 AM, which was odd. Maybe I put it down incorrectly in my calendar. When I arrived, I was greeted by Blake McFarland, the Service Advisor. He went through their reservation system, and my reservation was nowhere to be found. You can imagine my frustration... I called to request an early appointment, and I'm on vacation. It took me an hour to drive down there, and they have no record that I called! Blake did all he could to calm me, and explain that he would try to work me into an already full system. But, to his credit he did just that. He showed me to the customer service lounge, and then went straight out into the service bay to get my car put in and checked. It turns out that my Freon was very low. They also checked the entire system for a leak. After a quick recharge, I was done within one hour. I cannot say enough about Blake McFarland working through a customer service problem with a customer that was a bit peeved. He was cordial and very direct, explaining what they would be doing, and then updating me throughout the process. Gurley Leep should be proud of a job well done by Blake. But, this Dealership also needs to address their reservation system as there clearly was a disconnect. I even showed Blake the 2 calls I made that were still in my IPhone "recent calls" screen. This is the main reason I gave them only 4 stars. read more

My Hyundai is under warranty, brand new only 30 days old when there was bubbling on the bumper. Called to have them look at it and got the run around not wanting me to schedule or help me. When I finally got an appointment for one month later they tried to tell me the bumper wasn't a stock bumper and someone altered it so they didn't have to fix it. When I told them I watched the car get unloaded with plastic still wrapped on it they changed their tune and said that they would take pictures and get back to me and they never have. Terrible. I have the brake light/ABS/safety recall....my car is literally unsafe to drive and nearly took me off the road in a rain storm. They scheduled the work...for NEXT WEEK Subaru is garbage...they are actually completely fine with me driving an unsafe car UPDATE: Tried to get them to move up the appointment but no one---neither corporate nor GL, will bother to answer. NEW UPDATE: After pointing out the danger, FINALLY they moved me up (hooray for Cyndi (sp))....and found a new issue requiring another $3000 in repairs. Purchased a Certified Used Car from them on Friday. Their websites (all of them) have a 3 day exchange on certified used cars. We do not like the vehicle we purchased. Missing some needed accessories, they have a couple more on the lot with little more mileage on them with what we like. Was told this location doesn't offer the 3 day exchange. Interesting. A while back my wife and I spent time at this location. We brought our F 250 Lariat to trade for a Subaru Touring xl. The salesman talked to the manager and we agreed on an even trade. I felt that my truck was certainly worth more than a Subaru, but I agreed to the deal. The next morning I called and asked when the car would be ready for us to pick up and exchange titles. The salesman then said "Oh my manager now wants you to write a check for 1 thousand dollars above the trade". I was almost laughing at this. However, I was angry that they balked on an agreement. I would leave no stars if given the choice. They're low life hustlers, at best. They will trick you into believing they won't hard pull your credit, they will & do! We came across 3 from this place. They'll tell you that you're not signing anything important or anything to worry about. Again, do not trust these people. The manager, tells you that those hard pulls are now your problem to have removed from your credit report. The manager will also tell you that credit karma is unreliable. It was scheduled. I figured this was a mistake. I spoke with the service rep and her manager and asked for it to be revised. They said "there is nothing we can do". BE VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT DOING BUSINESS WITH GURLEY LEEP HYUNDAI SERVICE!!! I took my 2013 Hyundai Sonata there for them to perform an oil consumption test related to the Hyundai warranty issue with oil burning engines. They told me the car was not burning oil when it clearly was!!! I measured the oil after 984 miles of driving and it was down nearly 2 quarts! I called the General Manager (Mike Anderson) after the Service Manager wouldn't even return my calls. He said he stuck by his people and won't even accept the car back to measure the oil again. I wish I would have read the other reviews before going to this dealership to get repairs. After paying $150 for them to run a diagnostic , which is over 3 X as much as any other mechanic shop would have charged me, they give me my car back with a broken shifter cover. That is the leather fabric covering the metal parts of the shifter. When I point it out to them they just say it must have been like that when you brought it in period it most certainly was not like that when I brought it in. The technician came out to look at it and told me that the brackets are broken and I'm going to have to superglue it in. After being tremendously overpriced to have a diagnostic run I thought maybe they would have the professionalism to at least give me my car back the way it came or repair anything that they broken in the process of watching my car. Save your money and save yourself the trouble and the damage on your car and do not go to this dealership for any reason. read more

I love my Subaru, but I have completely lost faith in this dealership's service team. I take my car in religiously for oil changes and every time their "free" inspection discovers a long list of problems. If you're waiting, they'll pull you aside into a special room to tell you all that is wrong and how much it will cost. If you're off-site, they'll call you (and send you an email if they have your address) that will list all the issues and how much they'll cost you. Both are high-pressure sells, so I've grown accustomed to just saying no and telling them I'll think about it for the next time. Only this last time - an embarrassing number of years into owning my car - did I think about getting a second opinion rather than just googling and talking to family and friends to determine what needed to be done and what didn't. After Gurley-Leep recommended over $1000 worth of repairs, I wised up and sought out a different mechanic. This guy, highly recommended by friends and strangers, checked all the things on Gurley-Leep's list of issues and didn't find one problem with my car. None of those things needed to be fixed or replaced. Of course my car was in perfect shape, in large part thanks to Gurley-Leep and all the money I've poured into this car over the years, but I lost the last shred of faith I had in them. Even if their mechanics are good, somewhere on the service-team's chain of command there's something shady going on. read more

They are liars trying to take every last dollar from you. They said I failed an alignment test I had just passed less than a month ago when I got an oil change & inspection from a different dealer. They said I need tire rotation when I had just gotten that done at said oil change. They said the free re-alignment included in my 3-year warranty was only good for the first year. Literally dealing with anything at this dealership has been a complete shitshow. They sent my title to the wrong address (and yelled at me/hung up on me when I called about it), they blamed me for a problem that Subaru ended up creating a recall for, and the shuttle just comes and leaves without asking anyone in the waiting room if they were waiting (have been here for nearly an hour and a half right now just to find out that me and one other lady were just completely left behind). Upon our last trip, we were offered a ridiculous trade in value, treated terribly by manager "joe". He basically said that's our offer, take it or leave it and walked away! NEVER AGAIN! When we purchased our Subaru Outback from the dealer last year the first thing that happened was they tried to give us $0 in trade for our Lexux RX300. When the payments looked way too high, I started looking everything over and realized their "mistake". When we got to the financing department, they had a high preasure sales pitch to sell us a pre-paid maintenance plan. When I said no, the guy told me I was the first person to ever turn down this service. I told him congratulations, there is a first time for everything and now he will have a reason to remember this day. What a load of crap... So today my wife takes the car in for the 15k mile oil change and tire rotation with a $29 oil change coupon and comes home with a receipt for $270. They sold her a bunch of "normal maintenance" items. Two different fuel cleaners that cost a total of $160 and the oil change ended up costing $75! $35 for the oil change and $40 for "shop supplies"! WTF! I obviously will never take any car back there for service ever again. Stay clear of these guys. I love the car and the salesman who sold us the car was great, but the rest of the company is horrible. read more

I'm writing this review to save others from the lack of service that is Gurley Leep Subaru. I have still not been contacted back from Gurley Leep Subaru regarding my claim to a reimbursement for the same repairs done to my car at another Subaru dealership AFTER my vehicle was suffering the same issues which I thought were going to be repaired at Gurley Leep. Approximately around August 18th, I was on a road trip to visit my parents in Granger and these issues started to pop up back in Ohio. Most of the lights in the dashboard were flashing or just on and my ac was not working properly. Since my dad told me that there was a Subaru dealership near Granger, I thought why not bring my car to a Subaru dealership. So I brought the car to the dealership, which they told me that they would take a look at the car and I could either get the car repaired there based on their assessments or get it repaired elsewhere and just pay them a diagnostic fee. I thought, "Well it needs to get repaired anyway." so I went with Gurley Leep. They called me later in the day saying that the car had previously been in a front end collision and all the sensors were placed incorrectly based on the repair. (Now I bought my car from a family friend but he said that it was not in a front end collision, just a rear end collision.) Also the incorrect antifreeze had been put in and it needed to be flushed out and the proper antifreeze put in. I said yes to the repairs and the car was good as new a day and approximately $400.00 later. On the way back from Granger driving to the east coast, my car started suffering from the same issues that popped up in the first place! Most of the lights in the dashboard were flashing or just on and my ac was not working properly. I was obviously upset by this and suffered a panic attack from the result. Thank goodness some family members were driving along with me and they took the wheel and got us safely to our home in Connecticut. I called Gurley Leep about this issues popping up again and they said that they have a 1 year, 1200 mile warranty on their repairs, so I could just go to another Subaru dealership, get my car fixed again and claim a reimbursement from Gurley Leep. I thought that I could go back to my apartment in New York and drop the car off at a Subaru dealership there. So I was heading back to my apartment in New York when my car started stalling on I-95 S! I looked under the hood and there was no coolant left! It was bone dry! I had to pull over, call a tow truck then get it to the closest Subaru dealership in Milford, CT. Luckily, that Subaru dealership fixed my car PROPERLY after an approximately $300 repair. I have not had any issues with my car after their repair and I have driven it for hundreds of miles since. Now, about that reimbursement from Gurley Leep? It has never happened. I've contacted their Service Manager Nathan Johnson several times via email and phone regarding my claim and I have not gotten any response except for an initial email and conversation regarding my claim, which he said that he would look into. Obviously he has not looked into and obviously he has been avoiding this issue. I hope that no one has experienced what I've experienced at Gurley Leep. I'll close this review with the email I have sent Nathan several times regarding my claim: "Hello Nate. I have tried calling and emailing you before regarding settling a reimbursement for repair on my 2012 Subaru. I advise you to please contact me regarding your decision on this matter. If I would only rate our salesman, Joe U, it would be all thumbs up, five stars, for sure. He's excellent. I have nothing bad to say about him, or our experience buying our Forester four years ago. But... When we had some warning lights show up (abs, hill assist and stability) I went to our regular mechanic. He wasn't sure what the problem was. To be fair, the warning lights were only coming on intermittently. He recommended taking it to our dealership. So, I made the appointment. Meanwhile, I did a little research on my own and discovered others with the same situation. The probable cause was a bad brake switch, a part that usually costs less than $50. I also looked to get an estimate on the repair, anywhere from $100. to $150. Fine. Not so fine at the dealership. They charged me almost $300. Labor... Really? How much time does it take to pull and replace a switch? A $40 fee for the disposal of my old part. Wait, it gets worse... They gave me a detailed list of repairs they believe I need to have done... Over a thousand dollars!!!! I don't think so. read more
