It's my top standard when it comes to chicken rice and nothing so far in other parts of Thailand or in Arizona have come close to that same taste. Ever since I've heard about this place, I've been wanting to go, and just recently had the chance to finally make the trip. After briefly glancing over the menu, we ordered two orders of the classic with traditional sauce (of course) to dine in, and one order of the combo to take home with us. The chicken was tender, not too dry or rubbery, and the traditional sauce was spectacular. The chicken to rice ratio was appropriate. The taste of the rice was correct, not too bland. The accompanying soup was okay, I would be fine without it. Overall, I've got to say their chicken rice is the closest tasting to my favorite vendor's chicken rice I've had so far in Arizona. The staff were friendly, and helpful. The store was adequate in size and had a quaint atmosphere with lots of natural lighting filtering in. I have been wanting to check out Chick-A-Dee for a while and did not disappoint. We dined on a Tuesday night. It was pretty quiet. Go support this small business for them to continue staying in business. I loved the storyboard chicken mural detailed the sourcing of the fresh chicken. We tried the half and half with garlic rice, dumplings, purple rice, and clucket. The garlic and purple rice were so tasty. I can probably eat a few trays of the clucket nuggets with the thai sauce. Chick-A-Dee is something I crave for atleast weekly. My favorite dish here is the classic which is dark meat chicken skinless that has been seasoned to perfection with Thai spices. The rice here is amazing quality and flavor too tastes like ginger and very soft texture. The chicken stock is simmered for 48 hrs which is the stock used to cook the rice. My husband ordered the white meat and it was very tender as well. Order comes with a nice broth. Thai iced tea tastes perfect not too sweet and just the right ratio of cream. Service is quick she is very nice. The restaurant is located in this small plaza across Barrows which was not too difficult to find. Inside it is clean and well decorated. It was a nice surprise to find a Hainan chicken rice place in the valley. My husband enjoyed the Thai soy sauce. I was hoping for the traditional ginger scallion sauce and the chili sauce as well. I didn't see either of those and those are usually my go-to sauces when eating Hainan chicken. We had the Thai fried chicken nuggets and the spice seasoning was tasty. We just ended up sharing so this gave us the best option to try the most items. The rice is very good - super flavorful. There's some parking available in the lot that's right in front of the store, and you can find seating indoors. I personally ordered the half-and-half, which has steamed dark and white chicken meat served with ginger garlic rice. I got my order promptly, and I knew it was going to be good when I opened up the package containing the chicken. I was given generous portions of chicken, and it was juicy and tender. It went very well with the rice and small containers of ginger garlic broth and thai traditional sauce. I literally did not stop eating until I felt full -- that's how you know the food is delicious! All 3 people in my party ordered the half dark meat, half white steamed chicken. I opted for the sweet black sauce while my pals ordered the traditional sauce (which I highly recommend over the sweet black). You get steamed chicken (it comes out like poached) with rice, soup, and a dipping sauce. You order at the counter, pay, seat yourself, and go back to the counter when your order is ready. We tried a variety of things and they had some August specials that we took advantage of. I really liked the half and half (white meat and dark meat) chicken and rice that comes with soup (clear chicken) and a sauce (I picked traditional sauce). The chicken was tender and moist just like a perfect poach. The rice was nice and freshly made and I thought the traditional sauce gave it all the flavors that it needed. The soup it really light and taste exactly the way good matzo ball broth is suppose to taste like. This goes really well with the sweet black Thai Tea. I think this combination is the very best thing to get here. We also shared the crispy chicken with the sweet black sauce. The crispy chicken was fried nice and seemed free of oil. It doesn't have any unusual flavors added. The black sweet sauce is very unusual to us and is too sweet for both of us. Potstickers were fried nicely. (Ok) The Cluckets (chicken nuggets) are NOT for children. They are very unique and tasty and Spicy! They are coated in a little sweet and heat. I'm ecstatic that Phoenix finally has a Khao Mun Gai restaurant! Khao Mun Gai, or a Thai variation of Hainanese chicken rice, is comfort food for many but is surprisingly hard to come by in the US. I went in with a high expectation and Chick-A-Dee did not disappoint. I got a Combo, which comes with poached and fried chicken -- both were high quality and tender. The Thai traditional sauce was flavorful and outstanding. My favorite part was the ginger garlic rice, which was cooked with chicken stock. Food was authentically served in wrapping paper and a rubber band (one of the reviews complained about food not being put in a box but this is how it should be). Workers/owners were friendly and genuinely cared about what you thought. My only wish is that they offered two choices of sauce with the Combo. Most Thais eat poached chicken with the Thai traditional sauce and fried chicken with sweet chilli sauce. You can get another sauce on your own for $1 though. I've eaten Khao Mun Gai at dozens of places in and outside Thailand, and Chick-A-Dee is one of the best! read more
