We came here for Brunch on Thanksgiving. We arrived around 10:15am and the place was not busy at all yet. It was the perfect time for a leisurely family breakfast. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is located in downtown phoenix. The signs can be seen from the streets but figuring out which parking structure to use was a little confusing for us for this first visit. If you find the correct parking structure (off of 2nd street) you can get your parking validated by the restaurant when you're finished eating. As we were seated, we were greeted with a fresh basket of warm praline corn muffins. They were fantastic. Don't sleep on those! We had a veritable smorgasbord! At the table, we ordered shrimp with grits, chicken and waffles with pecan praline sauce and fresh hot syrup (which for the record, came with three actual full chicken wings,... if you order chicken and waffles and they give you any less than actual full chicken wings they are imposters! This is the way the original soul food recipe started many years ago, do yourself a favor and don't settle for anything less!). We also had cheesy grits with scrambled eggs with cheese and andouille sausage. All the food was excellent, freshly prepared and perfectly executed on all points. The restaurant itself feels like a casual breakfast joint. The kind you might find on triple D with Guy Fieri. Everything I saw was clean and comfortable. They had both outdoor and indoor dining areas available. Our server was kind, courteous and helpful. I thought it was interesting that we were invited to help ourselves to Refills on our own coffee at a coffee station located near the counter. That was a new experience for me. I am currently temporarily wheelchair bound so if I was by myself, it might be a concern but thankfully, I very rarely go out to eat by myself so it's not a problem that I anticipate having in the future. We were going to go to a fancy Thanksgiving brunch, that would have cost us hundreds of dollars but we changed our mind at the last minute. This whole meal only cost an average of $20 a person and it met, and or exceeded my expectations in every way....and that's what's up! I will definitely come back here again. I look forward to visiting this place frequently and maybe using it as a great location near downtown where I can have business meetings or casual conversations with clients and friends. Although it should be noted that they are not open late so a good place for breakfast lunch or brunch but if you're looking for dinner plans, you may wanna look somewhere else. read more

Cute little restaurant tucked into partially vacant strip mall. I came looking to try one thing and the pictures of everything else have me anxious to dine IN. So croissants were the goal and I scored on that decision. The first time I came in I opted to sample a couple varieties to determine if they were what were needed for a special occasion... ...my Bday luncheon with the PC (Prosecco Club). The croissants were as anticipated -flaky, buttery, fluffy Traditional croissant, and the other a Chocolate croissant - flaky crust, buttery, dark chocolate that oozed slightly creating a finger linking mess I didn't regret. Came back a few days later to grab one for hubby but none are available until Thursday through Sunday. Alas, I did have option to special order some for event and was not restricted to ordering a full dozen of one flavor or anything. The lady that answered all my questions was able to answer all my questions, take my order, and took my number to confirm my order and pick up time the day prior. Really great customer service. When I arrived to pick up my order I got there more than a half hour early and my order was packaged and waiting. Same lady that took my order even did me a favor my writing the flavors of the filled croissants on top of the box. Can not wait to come back and have brunch. First time trying this delicious Cajun spot and already looking forward to going back. Staff are extremely nice and very welcoming. We were greeted with some delicious corn bread to try and it was sweet and moist. It was a tasty start to the meal. I opted for a side of grits and we tried the praline cornbread bananas foster. The grits were the best I have ever heard, super creamy and had a savory flavor to them. They were perfect just the way they were and didn't need any cheese or topping. The bananas foster had that delicious cornbread with a caramelized butter and brown sugar sauce. It comes with a side of eggs and meat of your choice. Everything was cooked to perfection! The place is very small inside, only a few tables. It's super cute and they make it work for the size. Not gonna lie, I was iffy about coming to this place when my friends suggested it for brunch but turns out, I was a little wrong. The waitresses were so sweet, welcoming, and attentive. The space is nice. You do have to park on the parking garage and take the elevator. They validate your parking. Anyway, I got cranberry mimosas which were made perfectly. I also got the crawfish gravy over fried grits and a side of potatoes. I LOVED the crawfish gravy and grits. I was not impressed by the potatoes. They were undercooked and a little greasy. The seasoning on them slid off due to the grease that was on them. They just didn't do it for me. They also give you a complimentary praline cornbread. The cornbread itself didn't taste like much but the praline sauce that was on it was good. My friends suggested got the seafood eggroll and it came with fries (menu says it comes with coleslaw) but my friends was happy with the fries. She also got a pancake which she said was good. They didn't bring syrup for it so she had to ask for that and when she did get some it was a very small amount and the pancake itself was huge. My other friend got the chicken and waffles with a side of potatoes. He enjoyed the chicken and waffles. They both got pineapple mimosas which they enjoyed as well. If you love Cajun cuisine, friendly service with owners that make you feel part of the family, and supporting small businesses come here! At first we were a bit confused because the signage above still advertises croissants (Not sure if they've changed it since we ate here in July) but it turns out since they bought the business from the croissant place it is now Cajun food and croissants. Seating is limited but on a random summer weekday we had no problem getting a table. The menu offers a lot of the popular Cajun favorites and we were offered some complimentary praline cornbread which was very moist and full flavored. There were so many delectable items on the menu it was hard to choose just one. I went with the classic Cajun bowl with sausage. It was oh so good! The grits were just the right consistency and went well with the tender sausage and fluffy eggs. Service was beyond exceptional. They really make you feel at home here. Absolute 10/10. From the moment Rex took my call in order to the time I received my food, the service was excellent. My personal preferences were accommodated and the food was fresh and flavorful. I'm torn. I want them to do so well that they exceed their own hopes and ecxpectations. So I want y'all to find it and try it. But don't come here and try to fast food my favorite cafe. I love the charm and personalization. It takes a little while to cook each meal to order. And when you come to terms with that, you'll be amazed at how fast they are. Lets put it this way I truly dislike corn bread well that's no longer the case they bring you out some before your meal it is delish its more like corn cake so moist and delicious. So we were looking at cars in the area and got hungry. We found this place was within 5 miles of the Tempe auto mall and had great reviews (plus it was different with their Cajun style). We ordered the biscuits and crawfish gravy and a French toast. The food was very good! Came out hot and was plenty filling. The bonus was seeing one of the owners making her way table to table with genuine concern to make sure everything was good! The "cons" are that the restaurant is very small and tight. There are about 5 tables but when in use it makes it difficult for patrons to come in and grab their to-go orders. Also, our food did take some time to get to us after ordering. The good was that even though it was about 20mins or so the food was hot. I can only guess they got behind because of the number of people with to-go orders. We also had to wait a long time for them to make more coffee. We actually finished our food by the time the coffee was ready and to be honest, the coffee wasn't great. Lastly, the girl running the cash register and serving had a great personality. She did everything with a smile so the owners did great by hiring her! I believe this restaurant can be great once they pick up the pace and continue to make improvements. It was to have something different with the Louisiana Cajun food. Food is delicious. I love the beignets. I would eat anything with the praline sauce. We ordered three beignets - one of each flavor. One of beignets fillings on the menu was coffee - we didn't have it. Still delicious. Service is consistently great and attentive. The omelette and French toast was delicious. Loved the corn bread and this kind wasn't dry like most corn bread. We ordered a red velvet Bundt cake and it wasn't amazing. It had a weird aftertaste. We didn't finish it. Jimi's lady friend claimed we were going to a croissant place but, in a twist even M Night Schamalan couldn't predict, the crossiant place was combined with a Cajun restaurant. Now Jimi has seen something like this before. Where he comes from it's not uncommon to see a Pizza Hut combined with a Taco Bell. They even go as far as wedging a KFC in there sometimes for the greasiest three way any side of the Mississippi. We stumbled upon this place today and I am so glad we did. My husband ordered their trio because he couldn't decide. He ended up with red beans and rice, gumbo, and the crawfish étouffée. He said this was the best Cajun food he'd had since being in Mississippi. I really wanted grits, and they did not disappoint. The trio of beignets was incredible. The French Toast was delicious The Gumbo & Grits was delicious The omelette on a scale of 1-5 was a 2 while it had its appeal it wasnt fulfilling. It was mostly egg with no substance & bland with no flavor. The service was horrible. We were greeted & handed menus when we walked in & told to seat ourselves then 10 mins later the waitress showed up to get our drink order then 10 mins later came back with our drinks then said she would be back to take our order then 10 mins later showed back up to take our order. No interaction inbetween very basic service. The waitress did & said the bare minimum from a service standpoint. She was dressed very casual in an oversized Denise Rodman shirt. Seems like she showed up at work and was doing her best to give a bare minimum effort. The ambiance wasn't nothing desirable or intriguing. Very basic & bland. If you need to use the restroom it is in a separate building the 1208 building adjacent to the restaurant which was locked and no further directions was given on how to navigate accessing it. Good thing we were leaving so we simply left & used the restroom elsewhere. On a scar of 1-5 I give them a 4 because what I tasted was delicious what partner had was ok nothing special. The service was horrible but I would eat there again because I really enjoyed the meal I had was the French toast & the gumbo & grits. So it is selective. Really really REALLY wanted to like this place, as Cajun is one of my favorite cuisines. But what an utter disappointment. The flavor, the consistency, the preparation, and the ingredients just weren't there. To me, my jambalaya was very bland and had a few pieces of shrimp and sausage and nothing else in it. It also had a very oily residue. My red beans and rice was flavorless, plain red beans on top of white rice with hardly any gravy. The fries served with the po'boy were cold. Everyone's food came out at different times. I was the last one served. Everyone was finished by the time I received my meal. What also put a damper on the experience is the very limited beverage selection which included no cups or ice. I would highly recommend at least offering freshly brewed iced tea and sweet tea with a cup of ice. The inside seating is small and restricted to a few 4 tops and a 2 top. I would encourage anyone wanting to try this place to order delivery instead of trying to eat there. This way you can doctor up the food and have a decent beverage to go with your meal. I hate to sound critical but I have to be completely honest with my review. My experience with cajun food is from being a flight attendant for over 30+yrs and always bidding to layover in MSY, MLU, BTR, JAN, and GPT, where I could find the best cajun restaurants. 3 out of 4 of us said we would not return to Cajun Breakfast Joint. read more

This is our new go to breakfast place. Full of flavor and huge portions. The staff is so sweet and wanted to make sure your experience was amazing! We got the crab cake bowl with grits and avocado, salmon and grits, and crawfish gravy and biscuits and for dessert the baked oatmeal. They even gave us praline cornbread as a starter while the food was being made. It's a cute little place with about 5-6 tables so make sure to go early to grab a spot! Had to drive for this one yelpers, but soooo worth it. It's a small little restaurant with a lot of big flavors. The service was excellent. The waitress ( sorry I forget her name) was so helpful. Took the time to explain everything. The menu was good size, lols of choices. I got the fried grit cakes with crawfish gravy and my mom got the banana foster. Both were so good!!
