    Pancake and seafood eggroll w/fries
    Adrienne C.

Not gonna lie, I was iffy about coming to this place when my friends suggested it for brunch but turns out, I was a little wrong. The waitresses were so sweet, welcoming, and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You do have to park on the parking garage and take the elevator. They validate your parking. Anyway, I got cranberry mimosas which were made perfectly. I also got the crawfish gravy over fried grits and a side of potatoes. I LOVED the crawfish gravy and grits. I was not impressed by the potatoes. They were undercooked and a little greasy. The seasoning on them slid off due to the grease that was on them. They just didn't do it for me. They also give you a complimentary praline cornbread. The cornbread itself didn't taste like much but the praline sauce that was on it was good. My friends suggested got the seafood eggroll and it came with fries (menu says it comes with coleslaw) but my friends was happy with the fries. She also got a pancake which she said was good. They didn't bring syrup for it so she had to ask for that and when she did get some it was a very small amount and the pancake itself was huge. My other friend got the chicken and waffles with a side of potatoes. He enjoyed the chicken and waffles. They both got pineapple mimosas which they enjoyed as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute place, nice staff, good food, good drinks. Can't go wrong.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Classic Cajun bowl with sausage

If you love Cajun cuisine, friendly service with owners that make you feel part of the family, and supporting small businesses come here! At first we were a bit confused because the signage above still advertises croissants (Not sure if they've changed it since we ate here in July) but it turns out since they bought the business from the croissant place it is now Cajun food and croissants. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is limited but on a random summer weekday we had no problem getting a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu offers a lot of the popular Cajun favorites and we were offered some complimentary praline cornbread which was very moist and full flavored. There were so many delectable items on the menu it was hard to choose just one. I went with the classic Cajun bowl with sausage. It was oh so good! The grits were just the right consistency and went well with the tender sausage and fluffy eggs. Service was beyond exceptional. They really make you feel at home here. We will definitely come back again when we want a nice leisurely breakfast!

    Gumbo & Grits

The food was great and the service was just as amazing! The owner is really sweet and helpful if you have any questions about the menu. We got the gumbo & grits and alligator & grits.

My Smart Set Sisters thoroughly enjoyed our food!

This is my second time here and it didn't disappoint! This time I brought my hubby with me and he was in aw! I had the crawfish étouffée over grits with pork sausage! The flyover was outstanding! My hubby had the Big Cajun Breakfast with grilled catfish and he loved it! Davita knows how to do the damn thing! This is a must try if you are looking for some down-home Cajun Cooking!

I'm torn. I want them to do so well that they exceed their own hopes and ecxpectations. So I want y'all to find it and try it. But don't come here and try to fast food my favorite cafe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the charm and personalization.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It takes a little while to cook each meal to order. And when you come to terms with that, you'll be amazed at how fast they are. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small dining area with only 5 tables. One with 2 chairs, one with 3 and the rest with 4[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been here when they're full and the volume is still reasonable. You can carry on conversation without raising your voice or struggling to hear[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

    Beignets and praline sauce
    Paula D.

I woke up craving catfish and grits. O-M-Geee. These are the best grits I ever had in my life! The praline cornbread was amazing. The beignets with praline sauce was so good. I need more. It's a tiny cafe with five tables. They also do catering. All I heard from other patrons was "quality ingredients." The woman, Davita, is devine. Addressing everyone by name. She checked on me. I said "When the food is this good, I'm quietly enjoying every bite." Catfish, grits, and eggs were amazing. So happy to find this cute little cafe. I can't do Brunch & Sip for my catfish cravings because they are too loud. Will definitely be back here.

    Chicken and waffles delish
    Krissy H.

Wow, wow, wow!!!! don't be misled by the looks this place is the bomb along with the customer experience was above and beyond, amazing customer interfacing. Lets put it this way I truly dislike corn bread well that's no longer the case they bring you out some before your meal it is delish its more like corn cake so moist and delicious. As for or meals I must say they rocked that as well. Its a diamond in the rough and a must try.

French toast. Has more of an "icing glaze" for syrup

So we were looking at cars in the area and got hungry. We found this place was within 5 miles of the Tempe auto mall and had great reviews (plus it was different with their Cajun style). We ordered the biscuits and crawfish gravy and a French toast. The food was very good! Came out hot and was plenty filling. The bonus was seeing one of the owners making her way table to table with genuine concern to make sure everything was good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The "cons" are that the restaurant is very small and tight. There are about 5 tables but when in use it makes it difficult for patrons to come in and grab their to-go orders[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Also, our food did take some time to get to us after ordering. The good was that even though it was about 20mins or so the food was hot. I can only guess they got behind because of the number of people with to-go orders. We also had to wait a long time for them to make more coffee. We actually finished our food by the time the coffee was ready and to be honest, the coffee wasn't great. Lastly, the girl running the cash register and serving had a great personality. She did everything with a smile so the owners did great by hiring her! I believe this restaurant can be great once they pick up the pace and continue to make improvements. It was to have something different with the Louisiana Cajun food. That is what made it stand out and tempt us to try them!

Shrimp grits. Over easy eggs. Croissant. Andouille
    Jensen M.

Shrimp and grits. 2 eggs. Andouille sausage. Delicious. One of my eggs was over hard, but flavors were great. The owner was super warm. And the shrimp was perfectly tender.

We are two out of this before we got a picture. Each order comes with 3.
    Leslie A.

We are already planning to go back. Like this is our new favorite place. Seriously, everything has so much flavor. Some has a little kick. Mac n cheese has crab and shrimp with sausage. Etouffe was so creamy. Jambalaya was really good. Grilled alligator yum. Grits were creamy. Crawfish biscuits and gravy was so savory with slices of sausage. Service was fantastic. They sell their own seasoning so grab that. Hands down best Cajun creole we have had. Oh and the praline cream cheese beignets were freaking orgasmic!!!! Huge portions too!!!

Say hello to your new favorite downtown restaurant! Wow, where to begin?…read more Service was amazing - they even printed out a small card with our reservation name on it which was presented on our table. Such a cute touch and very thoughtful. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The spot is small and chic. It's very intimate dining so you'll be sitting close to the table next to you. Luckily, it's a quiet and calm space, so no need to worry about noise. The food was incredible. The salmon crudo was possibly the best crudo I have ever had in my entire life. So fresh and the flavors were balanced to perfection. The risotto changed my life... it was so delicious I couldn't even believe it. The only thing I would recommend skipping was the octopus tostada - not my favorite and a little fishy for my liking. Personal preference of course! The duck tasted great and was beautifully presented, but it wasn't my favorite. Again, I'm not a huge meat eater so take my advice on this one with a grain of salt. Overall an extremely romantic and special meal.

To start, the menu is a bit puzzling. It's kind of like a handful of Asian-inspired dishes, a handful of Mexican/South American, and a handful of French or New American. But there's not enough of each to chart a course through one type of cuisine. So, basically you're gonna have a cultural melange meal. Hamachi crudo was really good and fairly unique. The halibut was excellently prepared but not particularly innovative in any way I could tell. Zucchini had goat cheese, which wasn't immediately clear from the description, so I didn't enjoy the rude surprise I got when I took my first bite, and didn't eat anymore, as I really despise the stuff. So that was a waste. Not a dig on the dish, just a personal thing I wish I had more notice of. There were other issues though. The wine list was exceptionally small, They were out of the bread, which is supposedly a must-try. And then we were going to get the steak but the folks next to us advised against it, showing their cut that had zero fat. They said it was leather. On that point, the tables are SUPER CLOSE. Like, a couple inches apart. You hear everything and almost can't avoid getting entwined into others' conversation. We liked the people we were next to, but be aware that it's an unintentionally awkward communal experience that's not well-suited to a date night. The service was pretty good, they put out a nice printed greeting with the reservation name, and give you a sparkling wine toast. But considering the price and overall experience we had, I'd pass and not come back.

When we got there though it wasnt very clear that it was there. We got there a little early but the accommodated us nicely. Originally there was going to be 9 people but I asked day of event if I could bring another person and they said yes. The drinks were so good. Th divine feminine tasted like Jamaica drink with the hibiscus. Then I had the happy birthday Mr. President. Oh. My. God. It didn't even taste like alcohol it tasted like vanilla ice cream I'm so serious. It was delicious. Then I had the siren drink. That one wasn't bad at all. We all had a great time and shared laughs and everything. I love the setting of it though. It's a bit dark so we had to use phone lights to see the menu. But it feels like stepping into a whole new world once you enter. I think it's perfect for hanging out. Date night. Anniversary dinner. All of it. Our server was nice. Very friendly. I think he could use a little more on his hospitality just because sometimes I feel like he didn't know what to say exactly. A little disappointed that there wasn't really anything special for a birthday though. Not even a little card on the table that said happy birthday. Just a thought. Other fine dining establishments I've been in did.

He then confirmed we were still within the happy hour window and offered to bring us a menu. They used to have an extensive happy hour menu featuring several drinks and food items and now their "happy hour menu" consists of a cheeseburger for $22. Not sure that that really constitutes as a happy hour menu... I asked him why they changed the menu and he put up his hands as if to say he's not to blame and said he doesn't have anything to do with those decisions. He said that "management decided to make a few substitutions but they're pretty good" and didn't provide any further elaboration. I ordered the appetizer lamb lollipops which had four small pieces for $25. My friend decided to try the "happy hour" cheeseburger and he said it was good but it did appear a bit overpriced for an average burger with a pretty hefty serving of french fries. I really wasn't impressed by the quality of the food, the portion size, the price, or the service. Unfortunately, I'll be taking Rough Rider off my list of regular places i frequent and restaurants I recommend to others.

For our main entrees we ordered the New England lobster roll and the gemelli pasta with shrimp and scallops. The lobster roll was flavorful but felt like it was missing something. The gemelli pasta tasted a bit bland for my taste buds, but the family member I went with really enjoyed it. Since we always have room for dessert, we ordered a crème brulee to share. The crème brulee was nice and not overly sweet. Overall, service was professional, knowledgeable, attentive, and the food arrived in a timely manner. The restaurant itself is quite spacious with nautical décor throughout which gives off a comfortable and relaxing vibe.

I always really enjoy the ability to order 4 or 5 different things just to try something new. On this evening we started with the Beef Tartar, the Asian BBQ pork belly, and the Japanese sweet potato. All 3 were delicious and easily able to be shared between 3 people. We transitioned into ordering the prime New York Strip and the Maitake mushroom to share. The steak had a very nice pungent but sweet glaze on it that went very well with the marbling of the cut. Finally, we had the strawberry chamomile tart which was a great way to cap off the evening!
