I took the family out for dinner to Gustav's this last Saturday. This was in preparation to get ready for an upcoming trip to Munich Germany. When we arrived Saturday evening, the place was packed. The ambience of this place is really cool. It's totally decked out in German flags and wooden alpine decor that I imagine what Germany restaurants will look like when we eventually visit We waited approximately about 30 minutes for a seat which was fine. We got to our table and were tended to right away by the host and the waitress. I ordered a large 22 ounce size Stein of German beer and my son enjoyed one of their cocktail specialties, The Black Forrest, which consisted of , Jägermeister , whiskey, chocolate, and cream, topped off with chocolate sprinkles on the top. Very tasty. The wife had an Arnold Palmer, well because, someone had to drive home! LOL! The food was absolutely outstanding! My son had the Bavarian feast which is a sampling of all different types of German food. His first time having German food and he loved it. My wife ordered the chicken schnitzel and she liked it a lot. I ordered the Hungarian Jäger Schnitzel and it was outstanding. Not to mention the cheese fondue with bread and sausage and it was a perfect evening with the family.

My husband and I ate here tonight and the food was amazing! We split the barbarian feast and also had the rosemary garlic cheese bread. It was the best food that we have had eating out in years. It is such a neat German restaurant too. We loved it! And the waitress Jess was also amazing!

Another wonderful experience at this location! I made reservations for a group of 6 people through their online reservation portal. It's easy to use and I love having all the information in writing, including address and phone number, so I can forward the information to others in the group. So convenient! We met our group for lunch at noon on a Sunday. We were seated right away. Our table was set up and ready with menus. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. We started with a couple of their fondue platters, one with bread and sausage, and one with a pretzel. We love their cheese fondue! I believe it's the same recipe the original Gustav's owners used. This is the only Gustav's left in the Portland/Vancouver area. They are now owned by the NW Hospitality Group, who also owns Amaro's Table and Cecilia's restaurants. All of their locations have great service and delicious food! I appreciate that the new owners kept all the cool Bavarian decor. It really adds to the experience! Our group ordered a wide variety of entrees...salmon, schnitzel, sandwiches, soups, salads, etc. Everyone was happy with their meals and drinks. Our server kept the drinks coming and made sure our water glasses were full. She was great! Overall, our group had a very nice time here. I would highly recommend.

A gem of a German restaurant near the Washington/Oregon border. I ordered the Hungarian Schnitzel with red cabbage and a sausage. The portions were huge and the food was fantastic. This food reminded me of my mother's cooking when I was little. The service was great and the decor makes you feel like you are in Bavaria. Whenever I'm back in the area, ill be back!

This place is absolutely adorable. Its an experience by itself. All of the food we ordered was yummy. Some portions were enormous and some portions were not. We all liked the food well enough. Server was wonderful. We would be back. The only thing id love is a visual menu because I had to Google half the items to see what they were.

Sat at the bar for happy hour. I got the die bloom cocktail, it was really good. I feel like their happy hour deals aren't that great though!

What a sensational place! In the lower part of WA state there's a real real German resturaunt! I couldn't believe what I saw when we walked in and we were transported to southern Germany! I give this place a very high grade for atmosphere, ambiance, service and German style food! I'm a German American - an immigrant in fact who has lived many years in Germany with my family. It was by chance we came upon Gustav's and we were overjoyed at our discovery! If you want German style food done the German way this is the place. I've lived all around the states and never have I found such authentic kitchen! Don't miss this! Alles Schmekt gut!

Potato pancakes, salad, and sliders from the happy hour menu!! all delicious

We love this restaurant it never disappoints. The service is always so good. All the people who work there are just very friendly and take excellent care of you our server yesterday her name was Jess, but the rest of the staff. I don't know their names, but they were all wonderful. The food was so good we ordered mostly off the happy hour menu. I love this restaurant so much and the way that you feel like you're in Germany when you're there, it's beautiful inside! Compliments to all the staff and the chef for sure

Love German food and don't see it around that often. Had to come in and give it a try. It looks like a mountain side chalet inside, high ceilings and lots of often beans. Really cool Service was prompt and friendly. Alex was my server, helped me with my questions and recommended a few things. Started with the Bier onion soup and it was good. Could have used more broth cause the bread sucked it all up but was cheesy and delicious Had the Hungarian jager schnitzel with Spatzle and it was amazing. Breaded thin pork with a nice gravy. Was so good Ordered the apple strudel for dessert with a coffee and it was really good. Had the special beer, wunderbock. Was nutty and full and the perfect drink for a cold day Great experience would definitely come back

Much has changed here since my last review, so I thought I should update it…read more They have expanded the space inside to include a larger bathroom, which is awesome considering they only had one gender neutral bathroom available when we first started coming here. There are more tables too, both normal height and high tops. They've also added a pool table and cornhole, in addition to the original ping pong table. Their menu has evolved as well. In addition to pizzas, sandwiches and appetizers, they've added a Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese, spinach artichoke dip and ice cream floats. They have a nice variety of beers and ciders. Staff is always friendly and helpful. We love their QR code ordering system. It helps you get your food faster and you can just pay your tab on your phone. Such a convenience! You can also make reservations online, which is great for large parties. As others have mentioned, it is located in an odd industrial area set back from the main road. It's easy to miss if you're not watching for their sign. There's plenty of parking and a large outdoor seating area during the summer. Their food prices have gone up, and some items seem a little steep now, but that seems to be happening everywhere nowadays.

Several outdoor seating options too. Several beers on tap but I love IPAs, so that's what I got. The 5k was my favorite. The Santa Fe chicken sandwich was quite good. Plenty of flavor there. It came with a side of chips that were perfectly crunchy and salty. I'll definitely be frequenting this brewery.
