My husband and I wanted to try this restaurant which was highly recommended.. we ordered the calamari to start which was just ok and then for our entree we ordered the lasagna and the red clam pasta. The clams were so small I don't even know if there were any in there and much too spicy. The service was nothing to brag about and the Asian lady that sat at this small round table was so creepy just sitting there staring at everyone the whole time. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone it's not worth your time or money. read more

Love love love. I can't Believe how many times I've gone to the post office, and pass this place nonchalantly. The food is so yummy. The place has live music, very classically played. The decor is kind of an old Italy field, a little dated but I get what they're portraying and it's clean. I love the little semi-private tables for dinner in addition to the open dining room. Something for everyone. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and warmth. Everyone was super friendly, very attentive, and the food came out freshly made. This place is great. Live music plus very friendly staff and atmosphere. I must say my favorite dish is by far the Italian wedding soup. Omg to die for. Like I literally wanted to take some home with me. It's by far the best soup I've ever tried. We shared the caprice salad which I loved. I ordered the pizza for dinner which was delicious and my boyfriend had the chicken marsala. We both left super satisfied. read more

I am not sure how I have over looked this Italian gem that is so close to the beach. Going inside was stepping back into to Little Italy in New York, complete with the owner coming around to check on your food with an open shirt and gold chains We made reservations but we were late. We still found a table open, not the best table in the house, but certainly nothing to be ashamed about. There are tables in an alcove area that seem a lot more private, so if you call ahead ask for one of those. But on to the food: Bread - good bread, but dipping mix served with the olive oil was outstanding. Thankfully they did not bring out more because I would have eaten it. Calamari Fritti - lightly fried with a delicious crust and we could not get enough of the marinara it is served with. Fettine Di Pollo Scarpariello - tender chicken with a lemon crust with olives, capers, mushrooms and roasted red peppers. It was delicate and delicious, without being over powering but was not the winning dish of the night. Gluten Free pizza - I am not sure how, but it was OUT OF THIS WORLD good. My wife got it and after sampling it, I regretted my decision, but not enough to switch. We passed on desert, but it sounded like traditional Italian fare. Parking is plentiful in a lot for the strip center. Reservations are easy through the Yelp app or calling the restaurant. Service- well Service was pleasant but really uneven. Drinks were not refilled and several requests had to be repeated a few times before we got what we requested. But overall, a really nice evening. read more

Always feel like family when I dine at the famous Gusto's of Jax! The 904 is lucky to have such an authentic Italian place to have a pallet pleasing experience. I've been coming here for over seven years solo, in groups, special occasions and it never disappoints. From pesce pasta dishes, to the napoli style pizza, the must have meatball antipasti, not to mention the wine choices - molto bene. They also do live music various nights of the week. I was blown away by this unassuming restaurant in its location. This was one of our favorite meals on our trip to Jax Beach when I was craving Italian. We were delighted to see they had a live band and patrons dancings to a few of the romantic ballads. My baked manicotti hit the spot and their tiramisu was very traditional. This review is for the Wednesday night jazz club. The band was amazing, especially with their guest singer Jamia. I hope she comes back; beautiful voice! As for the food, I have extremely high standards on Italian food and wasn't crazy about the pasta but didn't get to try the other dishes or pizza which may be amazing. Tip: ask for dressing on the side or you'll get a drenched salad. read more

Although the owner has other restaurants in his family of establishments, he was less than ready for a real opening. The service was terrible, since three different people took our order and forgot. The food also was not as good as expected, given the good reviews posted for the owner's other related restaurants. Definitely Underrated! Visited with my son. My son enjoyed his penne ala vodka w:salmon. And I absolutely loved my grouper with a puttanesca like sauce with olives and capers. We have been going here for a very long time.The last couple of months the service has been very bad. The servers are rude. They are also running off the locals by demanding everyone one at the table spend a certain amount of money on food. If you are eating and drinking alcoholic that adds up to alot more. Who wants to order dinner at 8:30 or 9 pm. If you order a pizza they don't want you to share. Also the quality of the food has gone down. I sure hope they get the drift it is the bad attitudes that are driving business away not the great bands they have there! Gustos please take note! read more

Their menu is very limited and by looking at the pictures, that Ragu definitely caught my eye. I'm a meat eater and this plate has chunks of beef so I ordered it. Come to find out, they change the meat and pasta often so the meat they put in Ragu that night was ground beef (like bolognese) and the pasta was the large macaroni type. Very disappointed to say the least. Steak chunks in parpadelle pasta just like what they served prior would have been five stars! My wife's pasta dish was also changed to gnocchi which she didn't care for. We definitely went on a wrong night, but what can you do if your reservation is still a month away? The only thing I enjoyed was the tiramisu. Light and not too sweet. Service was slow although our server was friendly and accommodating. Mamasamas is only available for dinner and maybe because it's cooler at night. The place had fans running throughout and windows open. Not sure if it has air conditioning.

My wife and I have been a fan of Gusto since it opened under Chef Tonino. Not any more. Went there last night expecting the usual great service and meal. Sadly disappointing. The menu has been scaled back to a single sheet front and back with much less to offer. The bread served prior to the meal was doughy and the olive oil had little seasoning added. We selected the lasagna and it was bland and unimpressive. When I asked about Tonino, I found out that his services as Chef had been terminated over a partner dispute. On the positive side, our waitress was friendly and attentive. We will not be returning. A shame. read more

We went to Gusto on Mother's Day on the recommendation of a friend. It was a reunion of sorts as we were former customers at Tonino's in JAX Beach some 20 years ago before he moved on; but didn't realize he was running Gusto until now. We remembered how good the food was at Tonino's and Gusto didn't disappoint! A fine variety of creative dishes from Rome, it's a level above the typical Italian restaurant found in Jacsonville. Service was very good, and there was a Jazz piano player to add to the ambiance. We plan to go back to Gusto soon and would definitely recommend it to friends. read more

A great Italian restaurant. Have followed Chef Tonino from his prior location, to this new location is which is fantastic! White linen table cloths, beautiful atmosphere, romantic & cozy, and best of all, you always feel welcome! The staff is friendly, remembers your name and what you drink. Wait staff does a great job! However, the time to get food was slow, it took 5 minutes after my party had all of their food. The owner refused to accept our Local Flavor coupon. She's had variants of this type of pizza at a few places around town over the past year. So she was excited to see they offer it like she wanted it right out of the gate. She said when you look at the photos you'll probably think it's too much on a pizza but it's not. When you eat it, it's actually well balanced. She liked the quality of the crust too. She took about 3/4 of the pie home, so she'll have some great lunch tomorrow as well. Like I said, we rarely get down to Ponte Vedra but we had a reason to be down there tonight so I'm glad we remembered to stop in at Vincenzo's while we were in the area.
