We came for girls night & it was a wonderful night!! The food was incredible! Live music was a very nice added plus! They have a happy hour weekdays from 5 to 7 PM, including four or five cocktails and the house wines. I tried an aperol spritz, which was absolutely fantastic and a glass of the Merlot, which was very rich!!! we split the 8 ounce meatball, which was absolutely enormous and delicious to the very last bite! We then had the antipasto misto platter, which was a very full and had a beautiful array of choices. we finished off with the goat cheese bruschetta, which was my personal favorite. The balsamic glaze was perfection and the goat cheese and tomatoes were extremely fresh! They were very busy, but Service was still great! I was invited to dinner by a friend who wanted Italian food. Since it was her choice she chose Gusto. She said she had heard many good things about this Jax Beach staple. Gusto is located in a large strip mall with easy parking. There are several tables outside if you like the parking lot view. When we stepped inside I was brought back to my childhood. This is how Italian restaurants looked back in the day. White table cloths, red candles, and dark paneling. The place is pretty large and deep with a nice size bar. We waited up front for a good 5 minutes while the hostess was staring at us, chatting it up with someone. I was worried this was going to be the mode of the evening, but it wasn't. She took us to the side where they have maybe 10 booths that are kind of private the only thing I didn't like was that it's super dark in the corner. Our server came over immediately. She was super professional and friendly at the same time. She told us it was happy hour until seven and there was a discount on some wines and drinks like Negroni's and Aperol Spritz's. I ended up ordering a martini based on the fact that the server said they had blue cheese olives. My drink was very good and so are the blue cheese olives. The menu is pretty large with all your typical Italian dishes and some a little different. I do not eat pork and I try to eat seafood when I go out but most of the entrées that had seafood also had pork in them. I asked the server if they can make it without, and she said yes. Salad comes with your meal here. The salad was fresh and crisp. I really wanted some bread with my salad but the bread arrived after we finished them. I ended up ordering a pasta pappadelle with scallops in a lemon caper sauce. I asked them to hold the pork on the dish which they did. The dish was quite large and very good. My only critique would be a little less sauce. It was kind of swimming in the sauce, but it was very tasty and the scallops were delicious. I also ordered a side of what I thought was broccoli rabe. I really like it and don't make it at home. As I remember it was written on the menu as Broccoli Rapini or rapini @$12. I thought that was a little steep for a side but I ordered it anyway because I really like it. Like I said I don't ever make it at home. I questioned the server about it before I ordered it and I thought she understood that I was asking if it was broccoli rabe. The dish came and it was a side of broccolini not broccoli rabe. It also was a tiny order, especially for the price. This was my only disappointment. I will chalk this up to miscommunication between myself and the server. My friend really liked her dish as well. We liked it so much & ate it all so we were too full for dessert. I noticed on the menu they have a special Sunday dinner for two for $60. This is an old school place that I bet has been around for years. The food was solid and the service was good. I'm glad we tried it. read more

The food here is good however the service is horrible from the rude hostess to our nonexistent server Brooke. Even with dinner reservations it took over an hour and fifteen minutes for our party of three to be served. And we all ordered the same thing! The wrong wine was brought to the table when the bread finally appeared and we never did receive our appetizer. Saw other tables seated, they ate and had their tables cleared before our food was brought out. Told the kitchen was busy and they ordered before us. Love going to GUSTO's to dance on Thursday nights. Sidewalk 65 band was terrific. Our waitress was excellent but GUSTO's food is some of the worse Italian food I ever had. Tonight I ordered something simple thinking there is no way that they can screw up spaghetti and meat sauce or bolognese. I couldn't find the meat in the bolognese or our server went to the kitchen and put meat sauce of top. The cook must mince the meat into molecules since I couldn't see the meat or taste it. It was inedible . I paid $26.00 for this dinner and that is obscene. My $13.00 martini became $14.47 on my bill. One of the other people at the table was also overcharged for their apersol spritz. The server did correct the tabs. They added on a 20% tip (we had 5 people). They also added on an extra fee for using a credit card. I haven't found one dish that I can eat there. I am second generation Italian American and know how it should taste. Go to Bella Vista or Vito's for decent Italian food. read more

I planned a college sorority reunion for 27 ladies & 3 spouses at Gusto's .. let me tell you it was FABULOUS ! From the food, we ordered off the menu, and everyone got hot wonderful dishes that they ordered. We couldn't get over how great the sauce was. Everyone wanted to take jars home. We were there on Wednesday, Jazz night. The trio was super & played to us w/some oldie & some newer songs. The group got up & danced & sang along with the trio. They only took one break in 2hrs. The staff was friendly & handled a rowdy bunch of ladies with grace & smiles. I am the only one that lives here at the beach & can't wait to go back. The mgr was wonderful to work with. We had a really good time on a Saturday night here. Had a delicious traditional Italian dinner. We started with the calamari which was tasty. I had a baseball sized meatball that they call an app. But trust me it's a meal all by itself and it was awesome. She had the scarporella that she really enjoyed and our friends also enjoyed their dinners too. They serve some bread with some olive oil which was great. They have a very good wine selection by the glass and they don't charge an arm and a leg for it. I wish I recalled our servers name as I'd give him a shout out here. He was great, really friendly, always stopped by to make sure everything was ok. The facility is a little tired but still had an authentic feel to it. Made it right in time for the live band, Class Act to start. Reserved a table and was seated right in front of the band. Hostess was very friendly and seated us right away. Our server, Brooke was personable, but left me waiting for her at every step of the meal. Drinks were almost always empty. On to the food! The complimentary bread was okay, but nothing that any of the table had interest in despite us all being carb fiends. Ordered the calamari appetizer, which was perfectly cooked without any overpowering flavor. The marinara was the perfect compliment to the sweet crunch of the calamari. I ordered the meat tortellini with the panna and peas. Sauce was creamy, but lacked depth. The tortellini was soft with a nice chewy texture, but again lacked any meaningful flavor. I couldn't even tell you there was a meat in it or what kind it was. Did not have the flavor of house made pasta. Wouldn't order again, but wasn't terrible. Peas were the best part of the dish. Hubby ordered the lasagna. It was smaller than expected, but packed full of delicious ricotta. Marinara was again a star! Not a bit was left on the plate. Teen ordered the linguine con cozze. There were a pleasantly large amount of mussels with the dish. Flavor was well seasoned and married together well with the sauce. Server freshly grated Parmesan over the all dishes. Tiramisu had a good chocolate flavor, but lacked the gentle punch of espresso I was hoping for. Ladyfingers disappeared into the mix. A little smaller than expected as well. The band was absolutely fantastic! Played different styles and nailed some pretty epic harmonies. Definitely recommend the entertainment! read more

This was my first time here and came to listen to the band KTG a local group who we know is great! We arrived about an hour before the band started and we were happy to get a table as this local band packs in the patrons. I brought my own wine and the corkage fee is $15 which is standard. We started with some house bread and dipping sauce. It was a bit hard but tasty. I asked the server for her best recommendation for a vegetarian dish and went with it. Eggplant Parmesan and you can choose from several different pastas. It was really good and a big portion. You also get a side salad. My friends each ordered different entree salads. They both liked their dishes. The service was a bit slow but they were very busy. Unfortunately, we took no photos of the food and only the band. Large Italian menu including pastas, pizzas, salads. By the time we got the menu for happy hour we had already ordered non hh drinks so that was a slight hiccup but all in all I would definitely be back. First time coming and why we waited so long is beyond me! The waiter was absolutely on point and amazing. They take reservations but we didn't have any. We were lucky and got seated right away! My husband ordered a red wine and I got the expresso martini. Delicious!! The area we sat in was romantic and cozy! We started with a Parmesan meatball. The red sauce was light but can I say some of the best marinara. The restaurant filled fast because of the live entertainment and obviously the food! I ordered salmon with vegetables and a salad. My husband had fettuccine Alfredo. Everything was so on point and cooked to perfection! Our whole experience was one we will tell others to experience. Not sure what happened to my review, (I posted it quickly after experiencing dinner there for the first time). I would recommend the charcuterie that was good. One of my friends ordered that for all of us to share I'm thinking all I definitely want to go back and try the pizza. I see a lot of good reviews but it seems like some of the pasta is handmade fresh, and it even says fresh on the menu. Mine on my entrée did not say "fresh "I guess I just assume the linguine was made fresh and it was actually dried boxed pasta. It was some type of seafood, linguine and pasta with spinach and artichokes, and prosciutto. The pasta was flavorless. The veal was pounded out, real flat, unrecognizable, and. I could not believe tI pay 60 something dollars for two glasses of wine and this meal and it was subpar lacking flavor ... chefs recipe could've use some salt, butter, heavy cream since it was a cream base pasta sauce. It was a little overwhelming, I would illuminate prosciutto and the artichokes. There were just too many components to this recipe which made it confusing. But the waitress was absolutely fabulous! She served as a party of 12 people. The only sad thing is we did all have individual checks and gratuity was added. I believe about 18%. I usually tip 25% so kind of took money from her read more

We wanted to dine on Saturday night without reservations so our party of 3 was seated at a high top table near the bar. No wait, so we were happy to accept the offer, we arrived at the right time because the restaurant filled up quickly! Our server was very personable and informed us of the happy hour specials and recommended appetizers. We ordered the sausage appetizer and it came out as a side of broccoli. Quickly corrected and the flavor was tasty but we were not impressed with the presentation. (See pictures) Our bread service was good, the bread was soft and the olive oil accompaniment had some flavor for dipping.the soup & salad course was as good but our overall favorite was the Italian wedding soup! If you're in the mood for soup this is a repeat! The entrées were filling and delicious! The sauces were delicious and the fish was cooked to perfection! We asked if the pasta was made in house and we're told that the Pappardelle and other pasta was Maddie in house but the gnocchi is not. We were not impressed with the wine selection considering the extensive menu. We had a great time and enjoyed our dinners, looking forward to family date night in the near future.
