It was…read morerefreshing seeing something different from the usual McDonald's or Subway locations that I expect to see as the restaurant option in a Walmart. Charley's Cheesesteaks can trace its history to the higher learning institution known as Ohio State University where one of its students, Charley Shin, not only tried his first cheesesteak, but opened his first cheesesteak orientated restaurant in a 450 square foot building which he called Charley's Steakery, which he opened by Ohio State University. In 1991, Charley Shin started franchising his brand. In 2002, Charley Shin rebranded Charley's Steakery to Charley's Grilled Subs and started marketing the "grilled fresh in front of you" aspect. Another rebrand to Charley's Cheesesteaks and more growth to the company found that the company which sat solely in a 450 square foot building had grown into a brand with over 650 locations in 46 states and is also in 17 countries. The focus of this brand is to focus on putting their locations inside businesses like this Walmart, in high traffic shopping plazas, airports and even Army and Air Force bases across the world. With this business model, Charley's Cheesesteaks is focusing more on convenience than providing a great tasting product that was born in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Think of this food as what is is designed to be, a fast food version of a cheesesteak. A cheesesteak can be a wondrous thing. I lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for awhile and I know the true culinary glory of what a cheesesteak can be and Charley's Cheesesteaks is not that culinary glory. Again, Charley's Cheesesteaks is designed for convenience and offers a fast food version of this food. If you were looking for convenience, this place is convenient. However, if you want what a cheese steak can be, look elsewhere. The cheesesteaks just do not add up to what a cheesesteak can be. I found it missing the mark and just not possessing the quality of the cheesesteaks in Philadelphia. Again, if you want convenience and are shopping in Walmart, check them out. Just don't set your expectations too high.

The food is ok, but wow, so expensive for fast food. 1 kids meal + 2 adult meals (medium) was $36…read more For that price we could have gone somewhere a little better. The food is good, but not that good.
