LG service solution team contracted and fixed an appointment with GVC to fix my refrigerator. To our surprise, the GVC personal shows up at the door a day before the appointment without prior notice or intimation about his visit. After the initial troubleshoot, i was told that the parts will be ordered and he'll be back in 4-5 days for the repair. Days passed and there was no word from GVC on whether the parts were arrived or not. Getting hold of them is not easy (none will bother to respond to the voice mails), finally after getting hold of them to check on my repair order, they mentioned the parts haven't arrived yet and was given a new date (pushing by a week) and confirmed the repair on a specific day/time(9am-1pm) and none showed up on that day. I felt like i am being fooled about the situation and asked further on why GVC confirmed the date/time in the first place when they don't know when the parts will arrive and doesn't bother to notify or keep me informed instead sharing all the news when I call them. I reminded them on the bad reviews all over the place from customers for the same reasons (very poor communication i.e no emails, no return or update calls). On this, the person on other side was not happy about the facts about their company when presented to them and also bluntly said, they'll go ahead and cancel the repair order. For me, that reflected how serious they were in their business. LG themselves couldn't get hold (or response) of the GVC manager for few days to get the order details to confirm whether the parts are shipped or delayed for any reasons, so think about situation of a customer. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS for any repairs. A very pathetic and horrible company ever worked with. this company was hired by a third contracted party (LG) for a service repair claim on sat May 10 2024 for a refrigerator not working. the date was set for wed may 15 2024 and GVC gave a window of 9 hours to be home 8 am-5pm. they never came nor did the company call or email or return any calls that day when I was calling to find out how much longer. they arrived at 5:10pm walk up to the door, take a picture of himself at the house and doesn't wait or want to talk to the camera (ring) and walks away. The Tech doesn't call to say he arrived, or leave a note and I never got an email to reschedule. I called and told the LG company and told them I HAVE A VIDEO WITH TIME STAMP. He showed up next day without notice at all, was there for 2 minutes and said the mother board part will take 5-10 days. its May 28 2024 and they won't return my phone calls the won't keep me updated. i only got one call from gvc asking for the proof on may 21. its been 18 day without a refrigerator/freezer and all i want is an update. horrible company!!! read more

The second worse company I have ever tried to do business with. LG contracted them to repair our refrigerator and they came out to look at. Said they had to order parts and they would expedite them. 10 days later no word from them, finally got a hold of them after many many phone messages, they said the parts were in and they would have a repair tech there between 9am & 1pm. no show, no courtesy call, several more phone messages left with company and no return call. We contacted LG and they say they have been trying for 5 days to reach someone at GVC and no returned calls. How can a business stay in business with service like this. read more

They were here on time and did a thorough job, tech was very nice and knowledgeable, answered all my stupid questions! I feel very confident the job was done right. I did leave 2 unreturned Messages and they never returned my phone calls but they did come thru for me in the end and I'm sure they were busy so I'll give them a pass. read more

We have an LG side by side refrigerator that is 5 years old. The icemaker stopped making ice. I chose another company first that spent 2 hours looking at it and then said it could bec1 of 3 things so they started with the least expensive part which took 3 weeks to arrive. I thought this seemed a little shade tree mechanic like but went along with it. After replacing the part and charging me $350 the icemaker still did not work. I decided to ask LG if they had a recommendation and they recommended GVC Appliance. They scheduled me for the next day and after 25 minutes the repairman told me that the icemaker was not asking the computer for water so it needed to be replaced. He ordered the part and 10 days later spent 15 minutes installing it and it works perfectly. I will definitely call them again if I have appliance problems. read more

I was super happy until 2 months later when the fridge broke again. Same issue as before. I called Gus numerous times and attempted to reach out to him on multiple platforms and got no response. I am so disappointed at GUS today that I'm at lost for words! I called to make an appt.for today. Called and txted him the day before to confirm. It was confirmed for today 4-6pm. Contacted him at 3pm to let him know that I'll be waiting for him. At 5:30pm,when I txted him, he said "sorry man, tomorrow？" without explanation. I called him but does not pick up..txted him at 6:00pm asking if he is still coming. He finally said "I am not". Unbelievable!!!! I took today off for this appointment. My fridge had already been diagnosed and I already had the parts but after several attempts my warranty company couldn't find anyone to work on a Lg fridge with Butane. So I called LG that sent out this company. They came out within 24hrs. The tech was professional and fixed the fridge no problem. The fridge is working great. He came out to fix my washer and disconnected my laundry area sink's cold water in order to use the part to make the washer work.........so now i get to find someone to figure out the sink ..........Fixing one thing should not involve making something else not work . If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Don came to my house on a service call because my refrigerator needed sliding rails. He told me the parts would be $260 and would be ordered and installed within the week totaling $443. A week went by and I called to follow up and spoke with Gus. He said the pets weren't in yet but had no details of shipping/tracking info. I followed up a few days later and Gus still had no info at which point I told them to return the parts and refund my money (minus the $50 service call and the return shipping). Gus said no problem over the phone. I followed up with an email and submitted my request on their website and have not received any info on my refund. DO NOT use this company if u value service, timeliness, professionalism and ur time and money. They didn't show up for a scheduled 4 hour time window appointment (note: not 2 hour window as their website states). They then implied multiple times on the phone that I was lying about being home. Charges $40 for a call fee, which is fine but when the problem diagnosed it incorrect during that call, it is not okay. He tried to sell us the door key striker for our microwave oven for $34, which sell for $4 online, even though it was not the broken piece. When we told him if it's not broken then why does he need to replace it, he then said the entire door need to to be replaced and will cost $195 for the door and $95 for installation. We refused. He then said that he can drill a hole in the door and put the spring back in but will charge $95. We ended up getting that done just so we would have a working microwave for some time. All in all we paid $115 or $120 for him to drill a hole into the microwave. My wife is the one who dealt with him and his attitude towards her was condescending and abrupt when she questioned him about the part he was trying to replace. Oh well, an experience gained. His solution lasted about 10 days and we've since bought a new oven. Would not recommend. read more

Called Gus the owner who was prompt to respond to the service call on a Monday. Diagnosis was correct and he had the part for replacement as well. That day he was teaching someone and after approval replaced the defective part. Unfortunately after he was paid, as he was leaving he decided to leave the old compressor despite our request to remove it. We removed the heavy box the following day unknowingly that the compressor leaked oil all over my wooden floor, across the stone floor and a trail through the garage to the garbage can. Not only were his fees to do the work high, now I have to figure out how to clean the compressor fluid mess. Maybe a new fridge would have cost less. read more

He was able to get it working in the mean time so he can order parts to fix it permanently. Very pleased with there prompt service. I was informed of the service call charge ahead of time, and Gus showed up as scheduled, quickly and efficiently determined the problem with the washing machine, and had the part with him that I needed! Gus the owner did a great job of showing up on time, diagnose the problem and had the refrigerator repaired quickly. It was on a Saturday and he did not have the part that I needed. He was on his way to Livermore for another call so he picked up the part that I needed in Dublin I believe. Got back withing 3 hours and replaced the part. This solved the problem to my ice maker and dripping at the water dispenser. Water still leaked very little after a week so we called Gus and he came back to replace a hose without charge. It was part of his warranty for 90 days. I am very satisfied with his professionalism, friendliness and backing up his work. Just a word of advice...Don't ever call Sears for appliance repair. Wed our LG washer wouldn't drain during the rinse cycle. I called LG customer service. After running a couple test I was given a phone number for GVC. I called and my call was promptly answered. I made an appointment for Friday morning between 8-10. The repair person showed up promptly at 820 AM. He confirmed what I suspected was the problem. He told me how much and had the part with him. In 45 min the repair was complete. Very professional and courteous service provided in a timely manner. I will definitely call them again when needed. read more

HIGHLY recommended for fridge service. Our fridge broke down last week and when I called the service company who covered our extended warranty, they said it would take 4 days before someone arrived. The husband took a chance and gave GVC a try and it was a great decision. The service guy arrived within an hour after we called him and installed a temporary part to keep our fridge working while the correct part was on order. Horrible. Called this guy to fix the dishwasher. He could not diagnose the problem. Was guessing it could be this or that.. lets order these parts and see it fixes the problem. Asking all the money in advance even though he was not even sure what the problem was. I said i dont want to just pay for the parts.. just put the dishwasher back. he put dishwasher back but did not screw it... i did not realize at that moment. Next day in the morning i saw something was weird. I texted greg telling what his technician did, he did not even had the courtesy to reply back. Our washer was getting hung up on the rinse cycle. The GVC tech arrived on time and noticed the rubber membrane on the start button was partially depressed. Stated the rubber membrane can sometimes cause a problem. Tech stated not in this case and diagnosed the problem as the transmission at a cost of over $400 with labor. Tech said not worth repairing. After thinking about the situation for a while I decided to straighten out the rubber membrane. Problem solved. I've done multiple loads without incident. read more

I am always careful and on my guard when dealing with service providers or contractors. There are a lot of unscrupulous and unqualified ones out there. I am happy to say that GVC rates high in customer service, honesty and professionalism. My 2 year old Kenmore dishwasher suddenly started to emit smoke and then promptly shut down. Fearing the worst I googled for an appliance repair shop near me. GVC was the only one within a reasonable distance and I decided to give them a try. Gus showed up in a spotless van that advertised the brands he serviced (first impressions do count). He quickly traced the problem to food residue stuck in the heating elements, suggested that the dishwasher be cleaned with Dishwasher Magic every month or two. He charged me the amount of his service call, a very reasonable amount. The reason I am giving GVC 5 stars, for what turned out to be a simple problem caused by a somewhat careless dishwasher owner, is one of trust. I would definitely call on GVC in the future to repair any one of my appliances as I am confident that I would be treated fairly, professionally and provided with a quality service for a reasonable price. read more

I had an excellent experience recently. Our washer was broken and I called GVC to come and take a look. They showed up same day. Their cost was 50% of Sears fee (just to show up). The guy who showed up showed me exactly what was wrong (bad timer), gave me an estimate on the spot. He also inspected the washer and told me the bearings were close to wearing out and not to fix the unit, just replace it. He easily could have fixed it without saying anything but told me it wasn't worth repairing. I paid the $50 fee to show up and diagnose the problem and bought a new washer from Lowes. Honest, knowledgeable and showed up quickly. Cant beat that! read more

OMG! Gus was amazing. He showed up on time with the right part. Fixed it quickly and while he was here he heard my dishwasher running and noticed that the water wasn't draining properly. He quickly got under my sink and fixed my dishwasher/garbage disposal at no extra charge. I also mentioned that I had been looking for a filter for the hood on my stove and he called around to check prices for me as well as give me the part number so I could check on-line for a better price. First and foremost, Gus' integrity, work ethic, quick & thorough work and pricing are all very good and reasonable. Besides the $40 service call, he typically charges around $90/labor. Parts are obviously extra depending on the need. My personal experience. I have an older refrig in the garage that my wife and I use for storing beverages and meats. I called Sears, but they wanted $75 for the service call and couldn't schedule a visit for several days. Gus had an opening the very next day after my call. I thought it needed a coolant charge but Gus conscientiously advised that would be cost-prohibitive because it used an older coolant substance that was now hard to find and expensive to buy. But he was not readily convinced that was the problem. His professional knowledge helped him to discover that the real problem was a faulty defrost switch. After safely removing the ice accumulation between the inner and outer wall of the freezer compartment (using a "Shark" brand steamer), he replaced the switch. I am pleased to report that the frig is working great again. Now I want to address the unkind and ignorant negative comments that some made here. One person complained that she was unaware that there was a service charge. Most experienced home owners know that ANY service industry has a service charge. They'd go broke if they just ran around give free estimates all day. My having both worked in a service industry and being a home owner for a few decades helps me to know & understand things that the other person apparently has no clue about. One poster complained it was a brand new home with brand new appliances. That individual apparently doesn't know that new homes come with warranties that cover appliances. They reveal their own ignorance there. Finally, one negative poster tried to make it look like this small businessman was running a scam. The scam, if you carefully read the post, was the poster him/herself. The reason I mention these is that they discredit an honest man and make those searching review boards like this reach a wrong conclusion. After reading a number of reviews here and noticing that the majority of them were positive, I called the man to fix my refrig and I am glad I did. I am concerned that others that may reach a wrong conclusion based on negative posts. This man doesn't deserve such unkindness. I called this place about my oven not working properly. He told me he would come out and take a look at it. He mentioned he would charge $40 for service calls. I should have asked him if he would apply the $40 towards any repair that needs to be done. He showed up on time which is great. My daughter opened the door as I was busy upstairs at the moment when he arrived. 5mins later I came downstairs and find my oven disassembled - meaning the door, the bottom cover, the heating drawer and shelves. At this time he stepped away to get something from his work vehicle. I was curios to see what was going on and saw that he had already written the receipt. He charged me for a new igniter ($88.60), tax, labor ($90) and service call ($40). All in all my bill was $205.96 (gave me $20 discount). And so when he came back I asked him to explain to me the problem. Basically he said the igniter have grease build up and needed to be replaced. So he worked on it and scrubbed it a little (he said he was doing me a favor by cleaning it). In my mind, well I didn't ask you to clean it, but thanks! So after disassembling the oven, a trip to the car, discussed the problem, the costs and a few mins of contemplating the costs, he scrub-scrub, change the igniter, put the pieces back again, write the check, and suggested to me that I should clean the oven with those oven cleaning spray. Oh and I told him that I prefer not to use chemicals to clean my oven (I caught him roll his eyes) and it was all done in 40mins. Then he left. I knew I paid too much. Fine, double your parts price, but c'mon triple charge me for your 20min labor at $130?? I live in Mtn. House and I remember one repair tech told me before that a lot of these service repairs thinks that people that lives in Mtn. House have money so they do charge more. It's pretty rare that I get around to writing a review, but two things have made this the exception. The first is the excellent service I have received from Gus at GVC Appliance Repair with regard to two separate appliance repairs, and the other is the unprofessional and distasteful review by Alexis C. back in June. First, the good stuff. Gus has repaired a fried motherboard in both a GE dishwasher and GE refrigerator at my home. On both occasions, he showed up at the appointed time, was professional, courteous, and efficient. With regard to the refrigerator, he brought his own personal coolers to help us avoid frozen food spoilage while we were waiting for a part to be shipped out overnight. When putting the fridge back together, he cleaned out the interior so well it shined. This is the kind of over-the-top and A+ service you get from this man. Given my experience with Gus, you might see why I fully believe Alexis when she says she's "new to all this homeowner stuff" and also believe she made a bad assumption and blamed Gus for her error. But that's not the worst of it. She's so gracious that she calls him a "douche bag" after he comes all the way over to her house, dismantles her appliance, tells her what is wrong, and reassembles her oven back the way it was, without charging her a penny after she refuses to pay him for the service call. And then she ices the cake by posting a bad review on yelp. If Gus was even slightly rude (which I doubt, given my interactions with him), it was clearly deserved. Treat this guy honestly and he'll treat you professionally and courteously, while repairing your appliance capably, and at a very competitive and reasonable price. read more

Super poor service. Our dishwasher stopped draining and we called this company. They scheduled an appt on MLK day. When they didn't show we called and assumed he was a no show because of the holiday and that he forgot. We left a message, 2 days later still no call back. It's annoying to rearrange your day to accomodate someone who could care less. read more
