They tried to rip my 92 yo mom off. My dad used this place when he was alive so mon trusted them. Went in for an oil change on her low mile Buick and they charged her an extra $100 to "diagnose" an oil leak. She has zero oil on her garage floor so I was surprised. They found no oil leak either. Imagine that! Then they presented her with a bill of $1300+ that included recommendations for every service imaginable, all completely unnecessary. Called same day to get tires rebalanced. Their super friendly staff got me in within an hour and out the door in 45 minutes. They confirmed with me that all the tires were off balance and did an excellent job fixing the issue- no more vibration! Ruuun. Go anywhere, ANYWHERE else. Do not send your wife, daughter, aunt or any female here. Like a previous post said this isn't the 50s, and women shouldn't be treated different when getting car work done! I got my car towed here to have it looked at and dealt initially with the front desk person Jim. I was told on the call it would be two days to look at it. Which was fine. Although, I get there and there was little kindness or empathy. I told him what happened; my axle broke and my wheel was no longer attached due to rust. Jim acted like i was an idiot, first off, "rubber can't rust off"... this is obvious... and after looking at my car he asked "what did you hit?" No Jim, no. Just because I'm a female driver doesn't mean I'm reckless and hit someone. I mentioned this comment being rude the day I returned to get my car scrapped and Josh, I believe, said "he's doing his job, I'm sorry you feel offended" -- ha, what a terrible customer service response and fake apology. Doing your job would be, "what happened?"... or "talk to me about what happened?" Biggest advice would be to try treating your customers like humans. They initially gave me a quote to "simply get it into the shop" not even to tell me if there would be further repairs outside of the axle and tire being disconnected. It was 1700$ to just get it in the shop. My car was worth MAYBE 300$ and 600$ if it was in perfect condition and they wanted to charge me way more than the cost of it -- when in the past my mechanic would straight up tell me it wasn't worth repairing versus trying to rip me off with initial repairs that cost more than the cars worth. Luckily I knew my car wasn't worth repairing. At the initial visit Jim told me he guessed I could sit in their waiting area for a ride... he kept giving me comments about "we don't have the space" when i was clearly working to get it sorted AND there were spots in their lot. I was obviously not trying to store it. When returning to give them my title to get my car scrapped, Josh I believe threatened to add financial burden by impounding me, after I was yelled at due to my confusion and frustration with why they wouldn't take my title. They were rude to me from the moment I walked into the door but I did not curse AT him, I cursed. Their job is to not make shit worse, which clearly they did. Overall not worth the rudeness, the insensitivity, the added trauma of having unempathetic / unkind humans, lack of helpfulness, and threats of having added financial burden simply because "it wasn't his problem" and truly it appeared he didn't want to work with me. I needed to get a ride, and to not be working which requires a bit of time -- another area of no empathy or understanding. Long story short, just avoid this place. They made a shitty day/experience worse with unnecessary stress and were not in the least bit kind, warm, helpful, or understanding. I ended up calling a scrapper who towed my car, PAID ME, and were NOT unkind to me. read more

I brought my car in with a flat tire during the week of 9/26/22. I was told the tire had two nails in it with one nail in the side, that the tire was irreparable, and that I needed two new rear tires, which Golden Valley tire offered to replace for over $750. Enter Golden Valley Tire & Service. I've used their services only once so far -- and that was to replace my tires with a type of tire that's recommended for winter weather -- but I was really impressed with their overall service. In addition to having the new tires installed, I also had the oil changed and because I have a very old car, I paid a little extra to have the battery, etc., examined to make sure everything would withstand some of the brutal temperatures that Minnesotans so "enjoy." Place is horrible. I got gouged last time I was there. Gave them another try as I had a flat in the vicinity. Tried to sell me a new tire when the brand new one had nothing but a nail that another shop plugged for 32.00. Employee admitted to driving flat accross their lot into the bay manager denied it. They lie and they will milk you for all your worth. Original owner died. New management sucks. Go anywhere else. Contrary to the owners reply below. The tire was repaired in Hopkins for 32.58. This owner is known for trying to sell tires that don't need to be replaced. The tech who called me to quote a replacement tire stated the tire was repairable and that it had some runner dust build up or some term I don't recall exactly the term he used but it was all bogus. I demanded they plug and patch the tire. They refused. I went to Hopkins to a shop I trust got the work done in 45 minutes for 32.58. The owner here states in his rebuttal of another review like this one - lots of places will do work these guys wont. These guys sell service and products that are not only unnecessary but a fabrication. I'll be contacting the BBB over this one. Worst consumer experience ever. My brakes were making a thumping noise on July 4th when I stepped on the brakes. I dropped it off at an auto shop near my home to have it looked at on 7/5. They called me 7/6 and said that the rotors went bad and they looked at Carfax and I had them installed in July 2021. They recommended I got to the shop that had installed them for warranty. I called and spoke to Brandon at Golden Valley Tire & Service and told him the situation and that they should be still under warranty. He said he couldn't get me in until Monday for inspection. I set the appointment and I received a confirmation. A bit later, something told me to call him back and find out when the warranty expires. He said that the warranty expires 7/7. I asked if the work would still be covered on 7/10 since that is when the appointment is. He said no. So, he was just going to have me come in, charge me for the inspection and tell me then that it wasn't covered by warranty!!!??? Asked me if I'm beyond just ticked off... read more

These guys are great. I work with Scott Kildahl, who set me up with the once a year oil change from AMSoil. It isn't cheaper - the cost ends up being about the same as getting 4 separate oil changes - but having to only change my oil once a year is awesome. This is a full service shop and these guys have done all of the work on my Nissan for the past 3 years. Always good workmanship (from what I can tell, anyway) and the prices are always fair. Also, they explain to you everything that was done, which is a huge bonus. They also helped me out in a pinch - the day before the 4th of July weekend - when my battery died. I stopped in, and they got me back on the road in less than a half hour, all while they were slammed with last-minute fixes for other folks. This is the kind of place that you want to go with a car problem...trustworthy, honest, and fair. That's really all I can ask for when it comes to someone fixing my car. read more

Golden Valley Tire & Service was excellent. We needed new tires and wanted to shop locally. I know their prices are good, as I'd gotten estimates from a few other local providers, and their phone and in-person service was as good as it gets. Fast, accurate, courteous, friendly. I had read from another female reviewer that the staff was perhaps discourteous or biased, but I didn't personally experience that (which isn't to say it didn't happen at the time or doesn't exist). Overall, a great local experience at the price and time I needed. Would definitely use them again. Much easier to get an appointment than at Costco Tire Center, to boot! read more

Shout out to Golden Valley Tire. They've been my go to for small and large car issues for years. Today it was a small one--my low tire light came on. I stopped in, was impressed by their remodel allowing for social distancing and safety, and immediately was sent to take my car for a tire check. Thankfully, the mechanic noticed a bolt in my front tire, showed me the leak, and arranged with the schedulers to fix it right away. For a small price, I have no worries about my tires. The guy at the front desk checked my car in and had someone drive me to work so I wouldn't be late. I have been bringing my car back ever since.
