My friend and I were craving Korean-Chinese food, so we searched for restaurants in Fort Lee and ended up at Gyeonghoeru. We tried the most basic Korean-Chinese dishes: jajangmyeon, jjambbong, and tangsuyuk, and they were surprisingly delicious! It was by far the best Korean-Chinese food I've had in the US. My friend felt the same way. When the food was first served, the portions seemed so large that we were going to take any leftovers home, but the food was so delicious that we finished everything without a single scrap. We come here pretty often and get takeout regularly. Our go tos are the jjajungmyun and jjampong. All of the takeout come with plenty of pickled sides. And from the picture, you can clearly see that the portion sizes are huge! I typically I'm not able to finish the whole meal. For reference we get dinner for three and I feel like it can comfortably feed four people. The taste is also really fantastic. I have yet to sit down and dine in. I am not a fan of their tang suyuk and prefer their kampungi with their jajangmein or jjampong. I have been here a few times now. I always got the jjajangmyun or jjamppong in the past, which are classics and you can't go wrong with those. But lately I've been obsessed with kkanpunggi, so I got that with fried rice the last time I came here. The kkanpunggi is very crispy and tasty. I hate when the sauce makes the pieces lose their crispiness and become soggy, but that does not happen with the kkanpunggi from Gyeonghoeru!! Automatic 5/5 from me just for that! Also, the portions are generous and the price is relatively on the cheaper side in my opinion. This place isn't the most well decorated or fancy, but if you're craving jjajangmyun or any other Korean Chinese fusion, this is a solid restaurant to go to. Give it a try! read more

So much food! Came here to try the black bean noodles and they have a menu that serves 2-3 so we picked the sweet and sour pork and seafood soup too. Hot tea arrives before the food and it warms you up well to get ready for a big hearty meal. We got scissors, sorry if we used them incorrectly! But they were perfect for cutting the noodles we were serving into our bowls. The baby octopus were incredibly chewy but the flowered calamari was delicious!!!! All that and 2 cans of coke came out to less than $50. This is great for filling your belly on a chilly day while running errands. The servers were polite and it must be family run because when it started to get crowded I saw on old man get up from his table and start bussing. Really affordable menu and parking lot. We stopped in for dinner and had the jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), jjamppong (seafood noodles), fried chicken dish and the tansuyuk (sweet and sour pork). I really liked the tansuyuk and fried chicken, which were fried perfectly with crispy crust. The tansuyuk sauce is on the side, which I like. The black bean noodles were good. I am not a big fan of seafood so I can't comment on the jjamppong. Pricing is very reasonable and portions are huge. Our server was very nice and efficient. For the pork, I like how they separate the sweet and sour sauce because then the deep fried pork will stay crispy for a longer period of time. It doesn't get better than this - I'd say the best Korean-Chinese restaurant in the area that delivers in taste, variety of menu options, quantity and price. Read to the end and I'll tell you all about what you need to order! I almost didn't want to do an update review, but I've been frequenting this place for the last 4-5 years and I must. I'd say what really sets this spot apart from other KC restaurants is it's menu variety & fun combo options. Don't we all want to eat the two or three dishes together at a KC restaurant? This place gets it and allows you to get lunch specials/ individual portion consisting of 3 items, such as jjajangmyun (your main), tangsooyook (your entree), and fried mandoo (your appetizer). They also have those in entree portions to feed larger groups too. Let me tell you a bit about their food: Jjajangmyun - They have old style jjajangmyun with pumpkin pieces at such affordable price that when I first had it a few years back, I was shocked that it existed ($6). I'd say their jjajangmyun is probably the weakest dish for me personally because on a recent trip, wife and I ordered a 3-dish combo for 2-3 ppl consisting of Tangsooyook, jjajangmyun and jjambbong, and it was just too plain, without any meat, and tasted kind of flat. So order the ones with toppings, and it's pretty good. Tip: put pepper flakes in it to make it better! Seafood jjambbong - Solid. The spicy broth just hits the spot each time! Al dente noodles and such generous portion of seafood toppings make this a must try! Tangsooyook (sweet and sour pork/beef) - Can't skip this entree! While it may not be the best I've had around here, it's pretty solid- crispy, juicy meat that isn't too oily, with delectable sauce to dip in. Tip: Don't pour entire bowl of sauce over the dish but little at a time so it stays crispy longer (and esp. if you're gonna take leftover to go home), make a dip of soy sauce & hot red pepper flakes. Thank me later. Some less know items for you to try: Yangjangpi - my favorite entree. While I won't go for it as frequently as tangsooyook, it's delicious! Once I took it to go and it was a crowd pleaser with hearty toppings of veggies, seafood and meat with that flame kissed taste mixed with brain-freezing hot mustard sauce. Just be careful to not douse it too much if you want to avoid the brain freeze. It's a great dish that comes with flat rice noodles but you could very well extend the utility by eating it with rice. Joonghwa fried rice - a recent discovery! It's like a cross between Korean spicy pork over rice & spicy octopus stone pot... with Chinese flavors. Portion was solid and that spicy fire taste mixed with crunchy fried rice, juicy bits of pork and squid was a wow for me, at unbelievable price. Also their shrimp and mushroom fried rice, kkangpoonggi, etc. are tasty as well. I spoke to the owner lady recently and she shared her philosophy: "Give people sumptuous amount of delicious food, and the word of mouth will keep bringing people here." She knows what she's talking about, and that winning philosophy is what makes me come back again and again! The best you can get, esp. in these inflationary times! Soooo yummy and such a great deal!! This order was for two people and we had leftovers. The spicy seafood noodles had the perfect amount of spice. I've tried black bean noodles once before and I didn't like them but this restaurant makes them perfectly! The fried rice is your generic fried rice but I ate it with the soup from the seafood noodles. The fried pork was probably my favorite because it was perfectly crispy. I didn't like the dipping sauce that it came with so I asked for ketchup. The orders came out in a timely manner and the waiters were very attentive and polite. Let's start with the positives. The service was friendly and fast. Very affordable prices and good portions. As for the food, it was a salt mine and I'm not 100% sure but I think our dishes had MSG in them. I say this because I have a high sensitivity to MSG and get severe headaches, flushing, sweating, nausea, and a host of other symptoms. I had all of them straight away. As for the ambiance, it's typical of a more down home Asian restaurant. Probably good if you know what to order and aren't reactive to MSG. read more

This review is mainly for the gang poongi which was delicious and crispy. It was my first time having this crispy chicken dish, and I loved it. My boyfriend got jampong and jajangmyun which I had a taste of and it was pretty good (I'm not a huge fan of jajangmyun in general). I ordered the nurungji seafood soup, which was admittedly a mistake (I had been warned that nobody ever orders this). It was extremely bland, even for me and I like bland foods. I thought the nurungji would be crispy but it was soggy and in the soup... I still ate most of the seafood pieces, which were abundant. Solid place for Korean Chinese dishes! The service is fast and their dishes are classic.

Came here after hiking at Palisades Interstate Park, which was about a 20-minute drive away. There is a parking lot right next to this establishment at a quiet and tiny strip mall. Upon entering the restaurant, my group waited about five minutes or so to be seated. We were given paper table placemats with the menu printed on them. We thought that was it for the menu, but we were later given menu books with pictures, which helped us finalized our choices. We saw a lot of people getting the jajangmyeon (noodles with black soybean sauce) and were very tempted, so two people in my group got number 38 (set menu consisting of fried dumplings, sweet and sour pork, and jajangmyeon). The jajangmyeon was ok... it was my first time trying it, so idk if other places do it better or this is as good as it gets. The fried dumplings were not good; they were very deep fried and reminded me of those deep fried egg rolls at Chinese takeout places. The sweet and sour pork was decent and came with little chunks of pineapple. I got the lunch menu number 16 (vegetable beef and starch noodles aka japchae). The japchae was a little on the blander side and could've done with more flavoring. Not as much beef as veggies in the dish, which is ok for me since I like veggies more than meat. It also came with your choice of fried rice or plain white rice My fiancé got number 13 from the lunch menu (rice with fried chicken and garlic). I think I was expecting the chicken to taste like soy garlic chicken wings but the garlic flavor wasn't that strong. Still, it was really delicious and probably my favorite out of everything that we ordered. The last dish we ordered was number 9 on the lunch menu (seafood udon). It was the biggest bowl of udon I've ever seen with a heap of seafood topped on. Again, on the blander side. The restaurant gave out banchan (complimentary side dishes) but no kimchi. The portions for everything we ordered were massive. I ended up taking half my japchae home. Our server offered us tea at the very end of our meal although we asked for some hot water when we sat down and never got it. read more

I think the best thing is the ojingeo kkanpung, which they give a very generous portion of in the combo meals. It has a tasty sauce, although the squid tastes a leeetle old. They were also kind enough to switch out the normal jjajangmyeon w the jjenbang seafood jjajang in my combo! The jjajang itself is fine, nothing special and not amazing seafood but good sauce flavor. You will leave this place with your stomachs filled and wallets happy. There is free outdoor parking and it is located by H-Mart and Mochinut. So you can come here to get some groceries, eat, and have dessert. The staff greeted us and instructed us to sit down all in Korean, but we can take the hint. The tables were set up with the paper menu but I think it was to put your meal on top. They gave us the bigger plastic menus afterward. The utensils are covered- even the METAL spoon (which is super hygienic and cute). When we ordered, we just pointed to what we wanted to make things easier. I got the set, number 43 tang man jja myeon and it came with: sweet n sour pork, fried dumplings, noodles w black bean sauce. Since it is korean cuisine they have complementary side dishes as well. All for about $12 (not including tax and tip)! The food came pretty fast. There were also scissors in case I wanted to cut the noodles up I think. I absolutely loved how the bowl was divided up into three sections with all the food. I'll have to be honest, I personally wasn't a fan of the black bean noodles because of the flavor. I prefer shanghai's version of black bean noodles. The sweet and sour pork was SO good though. There was some pineapple on top to help with the flavor. The texture was perfect- crunchy but a bit chewy. The fried dumplings was super thick on the outside which I didn't like but once I dipped it in sauce, it was better. the only thing i regret about this place is not eating here, i did just take out but I'M COMING BACK! i've been on the hunt for yellow jjangmyung noodles for the past couple years. i'm in philly and i've looked at restaurants as well as asian marts and it's been rare to find but this place has it!!!! i got the seafood jjambbong, spicy jjajangmyun and kkangpoongi to go. i asked for the noodles uncooked since i had a long drive ahead of me and i only like all my noodles al dente i got home and boiled the noodles and heated up the sauces and i had an euphoric and nostalgic dining experience. the jjambbong broth was BOMB, it's exactly what i remember having from delivery in korea. the spicy jjajang though was so so, i'm definitely going to get the regular one next time i go. the kkangpoongi had the flavors but i wish it was meatier overall, this place hit the spot and i will be coming back to have the full experience! read more

Very delicious jajangmyeon. Not too greasy or salty. Slightly different and lighter than some other shops. The way they made it was probably my favorite in New Jersey and New York. The seasonal special jamppong for 2 was pretty good and monstrous in size for a good price (24.95) with a lot of seafood inside. Not quite as spicy as I would have liked, however. Overall I've probably had better jamppong, but it's not bad here and they definitely didn't skimp on the seafood, which was not bad tasting. You can get one of the many combo options that allow you to get a little bit of both. Gyeonghoeru is well known for their noodle dishes. Noodles soup, stirred fried, or mixed in with sauce, they have it all. I highly recommend trying out their jjampong/black bean noodle (Pic #1). If you want a meat option try their deep fried pork/jjampong combo (Pic#2). For all my mushroom lovers, their jap chae (Pic#3) is delicious! I encourage my fellow yelpers to dine in because all their noodle options are best eaten immediately. Every item comes with complimentary spicy pickled cubed radish, raw onions and sweet yellow crunchy radish. Pairs well with all their noodle dishes.
