There was a point in time where Gold Spoon was the hottest Korean restaurant in Carrollton and…read morecertainly one of the most revered in the state of Texas. It was the epitome of small but mighty, serving up classic high quality Korean dishes in what felt like a pocha style establishment with excellent service. Now that word has gotten out, there are numerous visitors from all over and they've made some slight adjustments that have taken it a notch down for me and others. This includes the hiking of prices (#1) and the introduction of non-Korean staff to appease many non-Korean patrons. The latter has had more mishaps than the previous wait staff, but the mistakes are quickly remedied with swift adjustments. They even updated their awning with a much bolder "금수저" (golden spoon) awning. Food wise, it also feels like there has been a change as well. The soondubu went up a solid $3 and the mandoo fillings have been skimpy as of late. I also feel the banchan has been more limited than the past with only a handful of dishes than the variety from before. I also wish they kept their old late night hours before as well, but that's only reserved for Friday and Saturday. I still think Gold Spoon is worth a visit, but I do long for the version from before and hope they can revert back to how they earned their accoladed in the first place. ___________ (#1) Foodflation back at it again

20/10 would recommend to anyone trying out authentic Korean cuisine…read more The combo menu is SOOO worth it. Truly a Korean-style restaurant with plentiful banchan. I absolutely love their scorched rice, which you really can't get anywhere else tbh. Business is always booming here, even on slow days. I've come here on both a random weekday and a weekend, and there's always people no matter what. But don't worry, they clean immediately the moment you walk out that door, so there's no wait time. Everyone eats here. EVERYONE. Korean families, foreigners, youngins who love Korean culture, high school students, the diversity is insane. That's how you know it's good when it's appealing to both Koreans and foreigners.

We had full meals with no rice. No drink menu brought despite the request. Service worsened after my white husband left. The remaining of us were Black. When we finished the meal they kept throwing open and closing the curtains of our booth and tossing in and removing chopstick boxes. I was finishing an interview with a business associate, so we didn't want to leave just yet. No one was waiting for the table and seats were empty. I said please and thank you in Korean multiple times with no eye contact or acknowledgement. BCD Tofu house tastes better and treats me far better. I used to order carryout and Uber Eats from Cho Dang Village without incident, but now I am guessing they thought I was a driver, not a customer.

Incredibly high quality cuts of beef, slow simmered potatoes, chewy/fresh rice cakes, and fresh delicious vegetables and green onions. The brown gravy/sauce was delicious. The small plates of banchan were both intentional and flavorful. Very good pickling on them. Service was very friendly and the ambiance was peaceful. Even though it was busy, people ate in silence and enjoyed their food. They keep it ice box cold, so definitely bring a layer if you get chilly! It was under $90 for the Galbi Jjim, which is actually a smoking deal. I can't wait to go back.

We also ordered sollangtang and both spicy and non spicy cold noodles. Boy there is something for everyone on the menu. There is even combinations which we will have to try next time. A bit of a wait for the food but totally worth it. We love that the utensils are in a box on the table and pitcher of water and cups are brought to the table. The food is amazing. Just beware, the hot stone items (bibimbap, sollontang) stay piping hot for a LONG time :) be ready to have a big block of time to have a meal here.

You can ring the bell and it sounds like a chicken. We ordered the 1. 2 soda floats, this has ice slushy, not too bad, but I will be okay with water, but a good once in awhile. We got Dr. Pepper and Pineapple 2. Honey Chicken - must get, the chicken was flavorful and best one I have had and came out pipping hot. I can not wait to try other flavors 3. Crab - I do not care too much for this. My wife enjoy this quite a bit. I do not like the mushy. I ate it to try it and good with the rice rolls 4. Coleslaw - I loved this and worth the $4 dollars 5. Gizzards - fried and comes with lettuce, I would get this again. Overall this place is awesome and would come here again.

The peppers pair perfecty with the chicken and sauce and they add a nice texture. 2. Dumplings - the spice in the sauce sneaks up on you but its so good and creamy. Love how these are fried and the noodles inside. 3. Daq gu ee - comes on a hot plate and its definitely buttery and the veggies are cooked perfectly. Chicken was so juicy!!!!!!!!!! 4. Soy garlic wings - these were my least favorite but thats because I dont really like chicken wings, they were more for my boyfriend. Leans on the crunchy side. The ban chan was so good, their cucumbers are sliced not too thick and not too thin. Busssssss
