Best gyro spot in Westchester hands down. I took a trip to Greece (Athens, Santorini, Mykonos and Crete) and this is the only place in the area that has the real deal! Other Greek spots around don't have the pork option or even put the fries in the gyro (EVERY gyro spot in Greece did this). If you want the real deal come here! Super nice staff too! 50-100 The food is good but they treat their tzatziki like a pot of gold. To make a long story short. I did online orders for pickup. One time i ordered beef souvlaki platter which are chunks of meat. This came with the tzatziki sauce. Another time I ordered just the beef skewers which is just the meat that is served on the platter and a bunch of other dishes. When I brought the order home, I realized there was no tzatziki sauce. I called up and the lady on the phone was very condescending. Stating each of my orders like I was an idiot and how each doesn't come with sauce. For example I ordered the lemon potatoes which of course doesn't. But the beef skewers should definitely come with sauce. Technically its the same beef chunks they put in the platter! Have ordered twice and same experience. Hummus was delish though! Strong tahini flavor and great whipped texture. Lentil soup had too much lemon and tasted like the fake stuff. The veggie souvlaki is amazing. Tastes like any other souvlaki and perfect for a summer night. Their tzaziki is flavorful and homemade. The falafel patties in the sandwich were a bit different. Was on my way to a different restaurant and decided to stop in Gyro Gyro. It's not a 'restaurant' if you will, had only two table that seated 6 each. It's more of a take out place. There is no waiter service, you place your order at the counter and your food gets delivered to your table. There are no alcoholic beverages served, just soft drinks. The menu had pork gyro, & the usual lamb & beef, plus chicken... I ordered the pork gyro, loaded with extra tzatziki on side. found an empty table & seated myself in a couple on minutes my gyro arrived. WOW! It was loaded including fries. Man... I'm disappointed because I tried the chicken gyro once and it was pretty flavorful however it could LOSE the fries in the gyro and souvlaki PLEASE! Just throw em away! I mean I thought "Oh cool fries, never seen this in a gyro" and there are reasons why!!!! The fries tasted like they were twice cooked and no flavor... pretty pointless actually. Now for the biggest disappointment of all: this has to be the worst falafel possible I mean it's mushy, the spices/herbs don't seem blended very well and again it's MUSHY AF. I've made the mix for falafels so first off I know by the color of them they wouldn't be great. Then they have this brownish color to them in the inside... also something I've never seen in a real Greek falafel! I have eaten here a few times and everything was great. Today, I was going to call in an order to pick up, but a few things changed from the old menu. I called and the gal told me it is under new ownership. I decided to order anyway. Big mistake!!! I ordered Greek Fries: OK, Beef & Lamb Gyro: pre-made, sub-par at best, Chicken Gyro: HORRIBLE. Chicken Gyro was, as best I can tell, made with gizzards and dark meat. Dark meat is okay, in fact, I prefer it if it's made right. Gizzards is a no no. At first I thought they got the order wrong because the first bite I thought I was eating fish... maybe Bacalao (salt Cod). I'm not kidding. I unrolled it to inspect and found that it was chicken, but mixed with some gizzards. Can't say for sure, however, but the color and texture indicated it was. Also, connective tissue which is typical of a gizzard. Irrespective of what part of the chicken was used, it didn't taste like chicken. As I stated above, it tasted like fish, perhaps like a fried Mackerel with the skin left on. This is as accurate a description as I can make. I don't make it a habit of blasting any establishment, but I feel I need to here. I know good food , and travel long distances to have a great meal. I am also a great cook, so I know how something is prepared. That Chicken Gyro? I don't know WHAT that was. As for the Beef & Lamb Gyro, it was the pre-made, processed kind you would get at a mall or low-end Greek diner....at best, edible. I am very disappointed, as this place used to be excellent. Ordered a delivery for a group of 8 (including 2 kids). I basically did the meat platter for 8 along with a bunch of other sides, appetizers, and a salad. For a start, delivery was a little slower than expected. For food: The grilled meat platter had a lot to be desired. Although there was a good amount and variety of meat in a tray, the beef was definitely not medium done (when you order you have to select an option of how you want the meat cooked). All the meat was well done and dry. There were lots of bits of overcooked pork bits as almost 1/4 of the meat tray. A good side was the lemon roasted potatoes but it only comes with 2 potatoes cut in half (4 pieces). The salad was fresh and much needed with the fries, meat, and pita. One of the sides that wasn't popular was the spinach rice side because it was very sour. read more

If you like the pork Gyros at BZ Grill in Astoria, you can save a bridge toll, the ones here are very similar. They also have chicken Gyro, and the ground beef and lamb style that first comes to mind. I wish they had the real lamb Turkish doner, but this is a Greek place.... I stopped in with J. for a Wednesday lunch after encountering a whopper of a line at the Candlelight. -This makes for a good nearby alternative. I began with a taramasalata appetizer - tasty, less pink than usual (perhaps a sign that's it's homemade) served with warm, soft pita and cucumber slices. We both plumped for the pork Gyros. My Gyro had some fries inside and lots of meat, the bread was excellent, assembly was good. I found the sandwich slightly dry, and moistened it with the house's own hot sauce. I would go with this sandwich again- get some extra Tzatziki. While the salad in the sandwich is better at Lefteris, the meat here is superior. great fresh food! This is one of my top favorite places to go for Greek food which says a lot because they're are so many around. The food is so fresh, and cooked right when you order is. That being said it is a little pricey but you pay just over $15 for a giant platter you will get at least 2 full meals out of it. This is a much better gyro restaurant than its predecessor. There are many gyro spots in westchester but only a few that I would frequent... this being one of them. The restaurant is clean with a cozy place to eat in the back. The staff are friendly and the food is good. I had a lamb and beef gyro. The meat was tender and seasoned properly, unlike over salted gyro meats that I've had in other places. It had a handful of cut fries with tzatziki and tomatoes on a pita piled high with gyro meat. My wife had the chicken souvlaki sandwich which she also enjoyed. There were a few "fatty" pieces of chicken in her pita which made it chewy but that's easily resolved by trimming the excess fat. Tried this place finally. Been driving by it waiting for it to open! Went inside was greeted. Spoke to a gentlemen who I told it was my first time there. I asked if I could do a platter with the pork beef and lamb and he said we could do that. Wanted to try all the meats. I love the lamb the best. The beef and pork were good but the lamb is probably the best I've ever had. Got fresh fries which were amazing because they were seasoned very well and rice which was good as well.
