This is the Not-so Philly Cheese Steak. It is a must order. I was recommended this since it would probably be the only time I would ever eat here. It did not disappoint! At first look it is very unassuming but let me tell you it delivered on taste. The heat from the jalapenos, the hidden cheese mixed in and the tender meat. Wow! Yesterday I went to Melt, my favorite sandwich place in all of Westchester county - what a disappointment. Same location. Some of the same extremely friendly staff. But apparently the restaurant has new owners since last December and the food offering has suffered badly. Melt was a sandwich shop with quality BBQ DNA. The meats and toppings were excellent, and you were encouraged to mix and match. You still are, but it's not the same. No pulled pork to begin with as the restaurant is now halal. Ok, that shouldn't be too big a problem but the offering is fundamentally different when you start to think about it. I ordered the chopped sandwich, which is a mix of chopped meats, salad, cheese and salad dressing. It wasn't bad, but for the signature sandwich it wasn't the best. And for $21, it's definitely not worth the price, even if it is pretty large. I also had fries - skip them as they were more grease than potato. With a tip lunch cost me nearly $30. Too much. I'm in mourning at having lost such a great sandwich joint only to be replaced by another mediocre and expensive establishment. I do hope they find their groove, the place wasn't empty so maybe there's something else on the menu worthwhile. I won't be back soon to find out. read more

I was really craving a Grilled Cheese from my fave restaurant or a Veggie Sandwich from the Italian Deli. But ditched those choices for newer taste buds and figured MELT would meet me perfectly in between. Lots of options here- not just for Meat eaters but for Vegetarians, 1- maybe 2 Seafood options and they could probably hook you up with Vegan items too. Overhead Menu seems overwhelming, but it's really self explanatory: (1) choose your Breads: Roll, something else and like a long Hero-type or, a Flatbread, (2) Choose your Meats/Proteins and (3) Sandwich 'Combos'. Instantly skipped the Seafood options and went straight for the 'Mushroom Combo' with Sautéed Onions, Mozzarella and Au jus on a Flatbread. I asked what kind of au jus it was anyway because I was curious. And without me even finishing my thought, this guy was in sync all the way with me and knew exactly what I was aiming at. To which he said, "it's meat based- but we can leave it out"- to which I said, "thank you for letting me know". Boom! Thank you!!! Negatives? Just one actually. I mean......we all have different levels of pet-peeveness and one of mine has always been restaurants not having proper ventilation and my clothes and hair smelling like grease. I totally get it- as MELT's cooking is all done right up front. (But here's a Tip within a review I'd use myself next time: if I don't want to smell like food, I'd call up, take it to go and that's it). I'm gonna let this pet-peeve of mine be an exception to my own rule because this place is rocking. Melt has been on my radar for a while now - hot toasty crafted sandwiches are something I'm almost always in the mood for. I actually tried coming here for lunch a couple of months back but it was so crowded and I didn't have time to wait. Tonight however I had better luck and decided to stop here and grab dinner. Melt has a simple layout; it's set up like a small counter service eatery with the production area as the focal point with a small seating area near the front. The menu is set up so you choose your roll size, protein, then fillings. They have a creative selection of proteins, and their fillings are arrangements of various flavor combinations. I decided to get a short roll with grilled chicken - and I chose the Italian combination. This came with roasted tomatoes (though they seemed more like sun-dried), broccoli rabe, and provolone cheese. The sandwich was then toasted so it came out nice and melty. The sandwich was good - I feel I played it kind of conservative in terms of what Melt has to offer, but the flavors were pure and worked well together. My only complaint was with the price. Very expensive in my opinion. I ordered for my entire office, and left a $5 tip. One of my coworkers did a last min switch from a soda to an iced tea after I was run up... The employee then attempted to run an entire credit card transaction for a dollar to make up the difference. (So cheap, especially after we made such a large order) We just handed her a dollar bill and called it even. Most places would have just said "don't worry about it". After going in here today, seeing new menu items, a new layout, and people I have never seen before- I came to the conclusion they have got new owners. I believe I spoke with the new owner (he was the one taking the orders) who was very nice, and pleasant. Unfortunately, that was the extent of the good I have to say. Not only did he say he had to ring my second sandwich up as a separate transaction (I found this odd, why could you not add it to my first sandwich, just to get more sales?) the cost was way more than what it normally is. When I was handed the bag, it felt extremely light. I have gone in here over 1000 times since it's opened years back, I knew right there something was off. After getting back to my office, I opened up the sandwich and was actually appalled. Not only was my order completely wrong, the flatbreads are now at least half the size of what they used to be, and they're 3-4 dollars MORE EXPENSIVE? Absolutely egregious and just down right sad. A place that was the perfect lunch, the perfect spot, has now been ruined by greed. A former regular customer, sad to say I will no longer be patronizing this business. Insulted isn't even the word. Extra note: they do not have many of the old items either, I asked for bacon and got some roast beef looking slice on my sandwich, and when I asked for the pulled angus beef that was my go to- they said they had shredded steak instead. I've tried out a couple of their sandwich combos and different breads, and my favorite has to be the wheat flatbread with the Mediterranean/greek toppings and pulled beef. The combo with broccoli rabe and tomatoes is tasty but salty. They also only have white bread for the long sandwiches. At the price point, it's a quality sandwich, and there are plenty of options. Love the interior and the attentiveness of the staff. Very easy to order on their step by step menu, really takes away a lot of the thinking, which is good because I don't think much. I opted for a long pastrami sandwich with the cuban toppings. I'm accustomed to Katz's Deli down in the city so I already knew the experience here would be a bit different given that the pastrami here is thin-cut and not steam-finished like I assume Katz's to be. The sandwich came piping hot on a perfectly toasted hero. If the bread can't slice up the roof of my mouth then I know it's not legitimate (don't get me wrong I love my pastrami on rye too). The first bite was ridiculous. The pastrami was a lot more tender than I was expecting which is always good when it comes to meat. Pickles were a wonderful addition. The only gripe I had with this spot was that the dijon mustard was more salty than I had bargained for. Still devoured the entire thing happily though. 100% would come back to try the other options. read more

Small local place that has an amazing owing at times you wonder what they are giving away that the line is out the door. Great customer service always checking to see if everything is ok. so today we had the Turkey Ruben, Adobe chicken with mango and the steakhouse! all three were amazing and had great flavor and textures. Adobe chicken had a nice back end sip e but paired beautifully with the mango mix. You choose your bread, your meat, and your combo. The combos are the prearranged styles of sandwiches that you can choose from. I've had a few including the French onion, the Italian, and most recently the Thanksgiving. I was really impressed with the Thanksgiving. It had turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, stuffing, and green beans. All the highlights of Thanksgiving stuffed in a sandwich.
