I tried this place today for the first time. This a small place with a big menu. After looking at the menu, asked the owner or the Gentleman that works there which I think he was the owner if the Grape leaves were home made or did they come already made in a can...?? this is a simple questions, I am form the Middle East and i know my food very well. If the grape leaves came already made in a can, then I don't want them. He told me that they are made fresh in his other store and they come to this store from there...? He told me that he will give me one to try with the food..? He suggested that I order the Lamb Shawarma plate...? so I did which was around $12.00. When he brought me the food, The meat plate was full, there were lots of food, rice with meat on the top of it, so it was a big portion. However, that was not a Shawarma meat and it was not anything even close to Shawarma. It was some lamb pieces cooked with onion and tomatoes. This was not even close...?? It was more of an Indian Dish but was not even that good...? He also gave me two grape leaves which came from a can...?? I knew it the second I looked at them..? I don't understand why can't they just say it from the start that these came from a can and they are not fleshly made...??? I know that they have Gyro sandwiches which are hard to screw since the meat is already ready to go and all which they have to do is slice it and put it in the bread but I did not try it after getting stuck with that Shawarma plate. Over all, I give this place only two stars. Don't sell food that you don't know how to cook or you don't' know much about....? What I had was not anything close to Shawarma and I ended up not eating most of the place due to the taste. Would I go back again.??? No way. Next time he needs to be upfront about the grape leaves when asked and also he needs to stop recommending the most expensive dishes on his menu if they are not good. We get the lamb gyros usually, but the first time we came here I got a salad with lamb. If we eat there, we will disgustingly indulge in the fries with gobs of mayo. I know, I know. Judge me if you must. The baba ganoush is pretty decent as well. But the food is so great and served hot off the grill in a nice, soft pita. Last night, the hubby picked me up from downtown and he insisted that we stop to get 4 gyros on the way home. He called in our order. The guy on the phone asked how long we'd be. He said 15-20. When we got there and the hubby walked in, one of the guys behind the counter held up 4 fingers, the hubby gave him the nod, and then the meat was thrown on the grill so that it could be nice n hot upon pick up. The prices are also decent at about $6 a pop for a lamb gyro. The establishment is on the divey side with a few deuces inside and a couple set outside. Parking has been no issue when we've come here but it's located in a strip mall of sorts that has a doctor's office, other eateries, a Big 5, and a yoga studio so I can see it getting hectic at times. I've been coming to Gyro Hut in Northgate, as well as their sister restaurant, Gyro House in Shoreline, for a long time - at least over the last several years since I've been working nearby. I started out with always getting a gyro, but then I started venturing on to trying other stuff, and let me tell you - I've never had anything there that I didn't absolutely love. If you are looking for healthy, not run-of-the-mill, inexpensive, and super tasty food, Gyro Hut is a must try. While Northgate Way can sometimes get congested (an easy fix by heading to the Shoreline location around Hwy 99 & 152nd), a trip to either location is well worth it. If you are going for a gyro, I highly recommend the "jumbo" - not because it's bigger, but because they add hummus to it (or feta or baba ganoush) and their homemade hummus is amazing. Their gyro meat is ridiculously delicious; not rubbery like some places or game-y tasting, and their definitely do not skimp on portions. I typically give half of mine to my husband, although it's so tasty that I wish I could eat it all. Definitely the best gyro style meat I've found in all the ones I've tried from Portland, to the Seattle Metro area, to Whatcom County where I'm from. That's a lot of Mediterranean places; Some fancy schmancy upscale restaurants, some little tiny hole-in-the-wall haunts, and all in all, Gyro Hut/House is at the top of my list. So, let's say you want to try something different - I LOVE their salads, especially the Greek, and (surprise) the Gyro Salad. Perfectly chopped romaine, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, feta, and seasonings tossed in a tangy house vinaigrette. Very refreshing and very, very good. Their Chicken Shawarma is also delicious. It is served with basmati rice and a small greek salad, along with some pita triangles. I've had this plate 2 to 3 times and have always enjoyed it. Prices can't be beat. The jumbo gyro is $6.99 and it's impressive if it can be finished in one sitting. They have their regular gyro on a daily special with fries and a can of pop for about the same price. I believe the gyro salad is either $6.49 or $7.49. A salad of much lesser quality at California Pizza Kitchen just cost me $16 after it was all said and done last week. The Northgate location is quite small - definitely not a place for groups, but they do have a few tables in there. Service has always been very friendly, and they remember me every time I show up. They also will deliver to close neighbors if your bill is $30 or more and you can order online easily if you want to. I work nearby, so if I announce that I'm having them deliver on a given day, it is never hard to reach that amount since my coworkers have all been turned on to Gyro Hut as well. (Helpful hint: If you are traveling in a group, just go to the Shoreline location, as they have more room and tables and it's the same food.) Want dessert? They have multiple kinds of Mediterranean style pastries, and while I don't have a sweet tooth myself, my husband is a big fan of the baklava. Summary, if you get nothing else from this review: I could order from Gyro Hut or Gyro House daily and not get tired of it. I think I've had too many gyros in my life, and it's raised my standards by a considerable amount. You see, gyros are almost always good; I've never had a bad one, but it's possible to define a gyro as being average. That's kind of what this place is like. It's nestled in a strip mall, surrounded by a ton of generic chain stores. And deep therein lies one shred of originality. Gyro Hut can certainly be enjoyable, but it's by no means exceptional. It's kind of like a fast food restaurant in that you go up to the counter and order there. No waiters, and you can even kind of see the food being made in the kitchen. I ordered a gyro meal with salad and soda because it was cheap and seemed appropriate considering the name of the restaurant. As I reached out to grab my drink from the refrigerator on the left, the guy at the counter told me to take from the other one instead. Aw, and that apricot drink was looking so good! But it's kind of a strange thing to tell someone, since what's the difference between the two refrigerators? The total wait time was about eight minutes, which is pretty good even for a restaurant of this style. I especially loved how the gyro was tightly wrapped in paper and then held in place with a toothpick! Too often do restaurants not care about gyros falling apart, and the result is a messy gyro with juices dripping everywhere. Not the case here. These folks were kind enough to make sure that my food was kept neat, and that's always greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, the gyro wasn't particularly big considering its price, and it wasn't that special either. I've definitely had better. There was a small salad to the side that definitely had that unmistakable Greek flavor. Lots of cheese, oil, and olives. There's that distinctive sour taste to the salad that I really enjoy. There's also a lot of tomato and cucumber in there to reinforce the idea that the meal is healthy. Too bad there still isn't a lot of it, and I know they could have added more. Gyro salads are one of my favourite meals when I crave greenery + protein. There is something about the way that the ingredients work harmoniously to balance between crunchy vegetables and the tender meat. A plateful of tomato and cucumber, onion and feta with extra olives please and the meat. Don't forget the succulent gyro meat! Turned slowly and carved in slivers + slabs of crisped perfection. Paired with some pillowy pita bread and their thick tzatziki, it is truly heaven. This tiny restaurant has the gyro salad down right. A good amount of gyro, lightly dressed greenery and all the ingredients I look for in my Greek salad. And they have other things if gyros aren't your bag - items like shawarma (lamb, chicken or beef), falafel, shish kabab, panini, burgers + a Greek pizza. I've only ordered gyro-related items though, I'm weak! I wish they didn't use plastic cutlery or disposable plates but I find myself forgetting when the meal arrives to the table. Oh yeah, the garlic fries are fantastic, bring a buddy to share or finish the basket on your own. And a friend of mine swears by their Greek fries as a meal onto itself. They deliver from both of their locations with a $25.00 minimum (other location in Shoreline). The minimum is a little higher than I'd like but still a dangerous prospect when you don't feel like cooking or having pizza/Chinese food. Still on the search for an amazing gyro. This was just ok. Restaurant was a bit dingy and dirty (food on the counter and floor) No napkins out (odd for a gyro place since they tend to be messy). Got a jumbo gyro since I had not eaten all day. And there was nothing jumbo about it. Four slices or gyro meat and hardly any tzatziki sauce - so it was dry. But meat was tasty. I placed a to go order late last night for a lamb shawarma plate and chicken kebob plate. This place is definitely pricy compared to other similar restaurants so I was super unhappy when I got home and I didn't have chicken but gyro instead which is cheaper and tastes way different. And on top of that the cashier almost charged me more for the lamb shawarma plate which is already expensive. I will say the food was good! But please get your customers orders right. read more

I was craving a gyro salad and had always passed by this place so I looked it up online. They have an online ordering system so I went ahead and signed up an account and placed an order for pick up. They offer a 10% discount for online pick orders and since I was a first time customer, it was a %15 discount. I left my house pretty much right after and my order was ready for pick up when I got there. The total for a gyro salad was ~$8 w/ the discount. I went home and was impressed with the amount of meat they give you. Thick slices of gyro meat on top of romain w/ tomatoe slices, slices olives, and feta. Everything I've had at the Gyro Hut so far has been amazing! I generally will get the lamb or chicken gyro, both are delicious and can be made spicy! They tend to get REALLY busy around lunch time (11:30/1) - if you're in any kind of rush I would recommend calling in your order. This location is also pretty small (they have seating for about 10/12 people at a time), I prefer getting my meal to go. The only thing that bums me out about this place is that they are not consistent with their customer loyalty card - I go there very regularly so having my 10th gyro free (or nearly free) was super exciting to me. The Gryo Hut in Northgate (Seattle) is such a great deal and one of the largest filled Gyro's I have ever had. It is in a strip mall, a very small shop. I have tried several Gyro's and they all were filled to the same level with a great taste. I had a special request to not have green peppers in my side salad, and could not find one anywhere in the salad. It had a bit of lettuce and good amount of cucumbers and tomatoes and a nice amount of feta cheese. The deal for around $13 includes the full Gyro, a half salad and a can of soda. They even gave me the hot sauce for free. Next time in Northgate and need a quick lunch or nice dinner take away, try this place. read more

I am out of my mind dissapointed with the huge downward slant this Gyro Hut has recently taken. This used to be our go-to for the best gyros we could find in Seattle. My last review from over a year ago had a full 5 stars and has now dropped to 1. Last night we ordered 3 jumbo gyros. Mine was so dissapointing that I didn't even eat it. What a WASTE OF MONEY!!! I was so sorry I had chosen gyros for dinner. The meat was so dried out and crispy that it tasted like burnt carbon compared to actual gyro meat. Also, we paid extra for "Jumbo Gyro", and I swear we got less meat than a regular gyro has. There was 1/2 a tomato slice, barely any fetta, and almost no taziki. For someone who loves eating good food, this to-go order made me want to cry. Like I said, I went and made myself a BLT from my kitchen because I found the food inedible. Everything was made fresh and it only took about 10 minutes for everything to be ready. I had the falafel sandwich - one of the best I've had to date. The hummus on it was mild, yet flavorful. Usually I prefer to have tzaziki on falafel pitas, however since it wasn't a pita pouch, (but rather a pita rolled like a taco,) the tzaziki would've just poured out. This sandwich was good without anything added to it. The fried cauliflower was very tasty, though the portion was fairly small considering the hefty price tag. A side of fries for $2.50 vs. a side of cauliflower for $5.95? That hardly seems reasonable...Not sure what I was expecting, but I will probably just cook my own in the future or get it elsewhere. read more

I haven't had a gyro in a while, but I decided to stop here while I was in the Northgate area. It's a small restaurant in a little shopping center, I almost missed it while driving by. I ordered a chicken gyro and greek fries. The service was polite and quick, and the food was delightful. Good flavor, not too saucy (which I think can be an issue with gyros sometimes). I used to come to this place all the time, I've been out of the area for the past two months or so, so it's been awhile since I've been in. I stopped by today for a gyro meal, which is what I always buy. There was three people working I have never seen before, what happened to the old employees? The guy who I told my order, and rang me up fumbled for the price. He kept pressing buttons on the register haphazardly - obviously not finding what he was looking for. I watched the price screen on my side go up and down and up and down. He finally looked up at me and says. "It'll be $14." Now I haven't been in, in awhile but the last time I was here it's always been $10. So I say to him "It's been awhile since I've been in, but last time I was here it was only $10". He replies "Oh yeah, they changed the price." And then he started pressing buttons on the register again. He looks up one more time and says "Okay it'll be $11". I said ok, paid him and got it to go... As far as the food goes, the Gyro was fine, tastes like it always does. But the fries were totally without any seasoning at all.
