Will Oakland gyros get dethroned today because I'm trying to dethrone them. Ok I have been looking at this place for a while now but the lack of good pictures and the small amount of reviews was not enticing to stop by but today I said WTF lets just go. First off this is a gyro/food stand with no dining area but you could stand and eat off the small shelf that goes the length of the street Windows, it's basically take out. This is a cheap eats kind of fast food stand when you look at all the prices. I noticed the gyros were being cranked out at a good pace so I saw I would get some fresh meat for this review. No it's not one of those power house meat coma gyros but it was not one of those anemic ones. First off it didn't look as impressive as Oaklands does. Before I slopped on all the cucumber sauce I sampled the meat and it was not dry but it lacked the depth of flavor because I thought it was tame but seasoned well, it lacked the gamey in your face lamb flavor for my taste and I love lamb. I hated the pita bread because it was tough and chewy and with the first bite I noticed that right away. The cucumber sauce was not as sharp as I like and mostly tasted liked creme cheese but it had a smooth, velvety whipped texture. Overall it's not the supper best but not the supper worst gyro and I will keep looking to topple Oakland gyros because I want definite proof that I feel Oakland gyros is the best in town.

Think I may have just found my new gyro stop! Added bonus, it's within walking distance of my house! The staff was very friendly and the service was great. I got the Gyro special with an extra pita because they load that thing up with meat. They also give you a good amount of tzatziki sauce. They do take credit. I would recommend checking this place out.

The cold station had a great variety of hummus and dips served with pita bread--my son loved it so much he ate thirteen pieces of pita! I'm usually not a big fan of raw oysters, but they looked so fresh that I decided to try them... and I couldn't stop eating them. They also had traditional Easter red eggs and egg salad, which was a nice touch. The hot food selection was very impressive as well, including freshly carved prime rib and ham, roasted lamb leg, and sausages. There were also breakfast favorites like French toast and scrambled eggs. Desserts were excellent too--cakes, fresh fruits, and yogurt rounded out the meal perfectly. The setting is just as lovely--the restaurant has an outdoor patio that would be especially enjoyable in the summer, with a great view of the city skyline. It's also a perfect spot for photos. On top of all that, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a perfect dining experience and a memorable Easter celebration.

We also ordered chicken souvlaki- a little chewy but seasoned nicely. Portion sizes were excellent.

The café has plenty of tables and a little bar area, and lots of Greek décor and videos to transport you to Greece. The servers were very attentive and pleasant. We ordered the Keftedes for an appetizer, they were so delicious! Well seasoned and the perfect crispy shell with soft pita bread. We also ordered the Zeus and the Lemon Baked Salmon. The Zeus was well seasoned and included lamb, pork, and beef in a pita. The Lemon Baked Salmon was a little to lemony for my taste but still good, I just wish I had something to cut the lemon flavor a little bit. Overall, the food and drinks were good, and would be back to try more. I did find the prices a little high for some items, including the drinks, some more worth it than others.

I couldn't stop thinking about the Grilled Octopus on the menu, so I ordered it, too, and asked chef to slice it for me. It was tender and served in olive oil with warm and soft pita. Sooooo good! A 6-top reservation came in while I was there. Yes, they accept reservations, which I believe you can book through their website. I've been coming here for years and seen different family members behind the counter or in the kitchen over the years, which adds to the charm of a small, family-owned business, and also shows I've aged. If you haven't been here, or haven't been here in a while, come check them out! a little more upscale in appearance with a casual vibe.

Tre Rivali has a really stylish and modern atmosphere without feeling overly pretentious, and the menu is interesting enough to stand out from the typical hotel dining experience. The meat and cheese boards were probably one of the highlights for me -- generous, well put together, and fairly priced. I also tried the scallops with truffled parsnip cream, brown butter, hazelnut, and Brussels sprout leaves. The flavors worked really well together and the dish was beautifully prepared, although the portion itself was a bit small for the price. The cocktails were also solid. They clearly know how to make the classics properly, and both the Old Fashioned and Manhattan were well balanced and enjoyable. Service was friendly and professional throughout the evening, which made the experience even better. Overall, it's a really good option if you're staying nearby or looking for an upscale dinner spot in Milwaukee. A little pricey, but still worth checking out.

Another amazing hotel restaurant?…read more Listen. I know this is typically kind of an anomaly. I travel a lot and can attest many, many hotel restaurants are pretty ho-hum. But, I do think that Milwaukee may just be the exception here. And, certainly Tre Rivali, located inside the Journeyman Hotel, is absolutely the exception. Chic and modern with a menu that intrigues and cocktails that delight, I have had many wonderful experiences here. Their meat and cheese boards are epic and well priced. I've ordered and quite enjoyed their scallops that come served with truffled parsnip cream, brown butter, hazelnut, brussels sprout leaves. Divine. It's not a hearty dish, though, so if you tend toward a hearty appetite, I'd recommend a starter of some kind. Or, perhaps dessert? Their cocktails are all well made and they have a firm grasp on the classics (they make a mean classic old fashioned and Manhattan). The service is always lovely. Get to it!
