My husband and I very much enjoyed our first visit to the Gyro House for lunch today. It was sparkling clean, had an inviting Greek atmosphere, and a top notch server, Angie, who was courteous, kind, and friendly. It was hard to choose what to have, as so many items on the menu sounded great, but I selected the spanakopita plate with the lemon sauced potatoes. Everything was just delicious; the phyllo was crispy and light, and the spinach and feta filling was the perfect density, and a side of their heavenly tzatziki sauce complemented it perfectly. The potatoes were firm yet tender, and absorbed the lemon and oregano sauce and made for a perfect side dish. My husband was astounded at the generous portion of gyro meat on his pita, and said it was incredibly flavorful and the accompanying marinated red onions and tomatoes enhanced the meat well. He, too, praised the thick, creamy tzatziki sauce, but he ended up taking at least a third of his gyro home to enjoy tomorrow. This was my first visit and it will not be the last! The gyro I had was delicious. I was especially pleased by the quality of the pita and the lamb being minimally greasy. I dined in for lunch, and the service was fantastic. My server (Julie) was attentive and delightful, and they had several nice touches included in the experience, as well. I don't think I've ever had a sprinkling of paprika on a gyro before (delicious), which they did, they also used red onions, and the waitress brought me a serving of Greek honey donuts (loukoumades) as a thank you for coming in, as well. Table service patrons even get nice cloth napkins and real flatware. It was a delightful experience that I will be back for, including the upbeat, traditional Greek music. Next time I look forward to trying the chicken kebabs and spanakopita. I haven't had Greek lemon soup in years, either, and I look forward to trying that, as well. read more

I finally made it to Gyro House!!! This has been a bucket list place for me since they opened a year ago and they're the indirect replacements for Gyros West in the area. When I stopped around 4pm they were still doing a daily special of $5 gyros between 2pm and 5pm. I grabbed two plain gyros and an order of loukoumades (honey and cinnamon donuts) to go. I've eaten at a fair number of gyro places in the Milwaukee area and I hold two in particular up on a pedestal based on their gyros. I think it's fair to say Gyro House can be added to that pedestal. There was a ton of meat on each gyro and it was moist and tender. I'm not sure if they grilled the pita a little in house or if that's how it comes out of the package, but I'm glad that attention was paid to the pita too by someone and it wasn't just dry and bland. The loukoumades came in a cylindrical plastic container, similar to what fried rice comes in from some Chinese restaurants. The honey sauce pooled at the bottom, so those donuts had more of the honey flavor soaked in by the time I got to them. It wasn't hard to tip the container on its side and let some of the honey sauce run towards the top of the container though. Overall, an excellent option for dessert or instead of a side like fries. read more

It was a pleasure to visit Gyro House today with my friend. We were welcomed warmly when we walked in and given excellent service. The space is nicely decorated and there are very cute outside tables if you like patio dining. Plenty of parking in the strip mall area. My friend ordered the gyro and I had the chicken platter. The food was fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced for the quantity/quality. The lemon potatoes are absolutely amazing. Can't wait to return! read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants! The staff is always outstanding, the restaurant is clean and well maintained, they offer outdoor dining, and the food is the best in the area! Today we had the Pastitsio and Gyro supreme with fries. The Pastitsio is excellent with exceptional flavors. The pea stew and lemon potatoes that come with it are also delicious. I've been craving Gyros for a while now and when we stumbled upon Gyro House we decided to stop in based on how well decorated the exterior of the restaurant was. There were a few tables set up outside and the inside was also decorated very nicely. Everything felt nice and clean, except for the bathroom...more on that in a bit. We decided to eat in instead of a to-go order as the restaurant seemed very inviting and the waitstaff was very friendly. We ordered two Gyros and I also ordered the chicken kabobs. We were quickly served and enjoyed the Gyros, though my chicken kabobs weren't very flavorful. Also, the tzatziki sauce was delicious but it was served in a plastic cup instead of inside the Gyros. I guess it allows customers to add it themselves. After our meal I used the bathroom to wash my hands. Upon entering I noticed paper towels strewn around the floor. Okay, fine, some people don't have good aim I guess. But the larger issue was that both the soap and paper towel dispensers were inoperable. My only issue is that the salad dressing that was included is 98% oil 2% vinegar which is not a welcome ratio. Definitely need more vinegar. The soup is like a warm hug. It's perfect. We stumbled upon this place after a shopping trip. I wasn't expecting much. Boy, was I wrong. Big time. We were seated at a table of our choice, and given a menu and a pitcher of water for the table. So many items to choose from. We ended up ordering the Greek salad with a side of gyro meat. Served with amazing tzatziki sauce. The lamb was like butter. They serve it on the side, not in the salad. That was great! The salad comes with literally a slab of feta. Also a slice of amazing grilled bread. This gem is so authentic and charming that we will absolutely be back. The ambiance is adorable. irst time here. From the outside, it's an unassuming storefront. However, when I entered, I was a bit confused -- and then blown away (that doesn't happen very often). Instead of what I imagined -- a counter to order from and nondescript tables and chairs -- they have managed to make a lovely little place, set up like a nice diner with tablecloths, a carafe of water, and table service. What a delightful surprise. Got there around 11:30 -- it was mostly empty, but then the place filled up fast. Our server gave us time to order our food and brought our drinks. We ordered a couple of bourekakee (spinach and feta), the Roasted Lamb Souvlaki Pita, and the Beef and Lamb Supreme Pita Combo. It didn't take very long for the food to arrive. Everything looked great -- hot and with good portions. The bourekakee were just okay. I thought they were a bit dry and not fresh. The gyro was excellent -- good flavors. It came with a generous amount of tzatziki sauce. Unfortunately, the Roasted Lamb Pita was disappointing. The meat was dry and not that flavorful. I added more tzatziki to help it out. So it was a mixed bag: wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, but some of the food items were disappointing. I would be willing to try again, but I'd order something different. read more

What a fantastic stop. Service was phenomenal. Food was delicious. Honestly, the best gyro meat I think I've ever had. The flavor, the cut, everything. I've been hearing a lot of really good things about this place, and I wanted a quick non junk/fast food bite while I was out running errands, so I decided to stop in. I'm from Chicago, and we have gyro stands on every block there. I was expecting this to be a gyro stand, and I was apparently wrong. If you're not ordering carryout, it's waiter service and cloth napkins only, which is not what I expected or wanted, especially when what I was ordering was $8. I just want to order at the counter, shove my food in my face, be left alone, and throw my napkin in the garbage when I'm done. Instead, I'm now forced to let someone wait on me and leave a tip. If I wanted waiter service, I would have gone to an obvious sit down restaurant. Unfortunate, this is not where the frustration ended for me. I ordered a chicken gyro. I have gone over the menu about 20 times trying to figure out how I could have ordered this differently to get what I wanted, and I've determined it's not me. What I was given was what I believe is the chicken souvlaki pita. Now, for a restaurant called Gyro House, that only has one item on the menu that has both the words gyro and chicken in it, I'm really not sure how this can be misunderstood. Once I told the server what I had actually wanted, he tried to tell me I ordered incorrectly and should have asked for the street gyro. Please see the attached photo and tell me if I'm wrong here. Then they bring me what I ordered and it has French fries on it. Now I'm confused again, because the description says potatoes, not fries. Again, if you look at the menu, fries and potatoes are listed elsewhere as two different items, so why would it say potatoes if it means fries? And not everyone eats or wants fried food, so that needs to be differentiated. I again tell this to the server, and he corrects my order with the kind of potato I expect to come on my gyro. The food had a really great flavor. The chicken was fairly fatty, but I got through it. I decided I was going to give them another chance with a carryout order at a later date, and then the staff started talking about me in Spanish, as if I can't hear, even though there's no wall between the kitchen and dining room and you can hear everything they're saying. At this point, the experience was so unpleasant that I'm not willing to come back for another chance. I'm guessing the Father and son that run this business were not present while I was there, because this is not typical Greek hospitality. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be aware of what's happening in the restaurant when they're not around, but they've lost a potential customer because of it. read more

The gyro was delicious and, as is tradition, overloaded with meat! I should've got a 2nd pita and made two sandwiches out of it all. The burger was okay. The patty was a bit pink inside and softer consistency, so I just cooked it another minute at home to make sure it was done properly. My husband and I stopped in for a to go order on June 5. It was busy but food was coming out fast. Our order was correct and we started on the Greek fries in the car on the way home. They were hot and fresh, but not much Greek flair to be found. There was a scatter of feta and then some dried oregano like you would have in your spice cabinet. It didn't add any flavor because it was just dried leaves. Not much lemon taste, if any. I wouldn't get them again because they were nothing special, and the dried oregano was actually a bit unpleasantly crunchy. I've never had dolmades before. These were served cold, but I think they would have been better at room temperature. They had a very mild flavor. I liked the pork kebob, which was served with a little container of lemon juice (unlike the fresh lemon wedge that came with the dolmades). It didn't add much, but luckily the pork was nicely seasoned and delicious. I would have appreciated something more than just plain lemon juice for the pork, like maybe adding some olive oil or even some of that dried oregano. The grilled bread was very good. My husband had a gyro and said it was good, but I didn't get to taste it so I'm not including it in my review. Overall, while the food was okay, I'd probably stick to gyros and regular fries. read more

Just a delightfully delicious experience. These people do Greek right! Their menu covers so many dishes, from appetizers, salads, soup, mains and a variety of desserts.....do yourself a favor and look at their menu online before you dine in the restaurant. It's a fun experience eating there. Everyone who works there is so helpful. They really hustle, too! Gyro House has been such an excellent addition to the area! When you first walk in, the staff here always greet you warmly and there is an immediate scent of great food. We came on a whim with another couple on a Saturday night. All that we ordered were perfection of Greek down home cooking. We had delicious appetizers of fried zucchini with skordalia and bourekeke, our entrees Loaded Gyro, Tour of Greece, chicken souvlaki, and Greek spaghetti, and then loukoumades for a tasty dessert finish. Everything came to our table well timed, hot, fresh, with very pleasing presentation. All so delicious, We came away full and very satisfied. OMG !!!!! Large portions and fast service the minute that I walked and this is about a week after the grand opening on 01/15/25. The dining room is rather small. It's roughly 10 tables for 4 people. So during peak hours finding a table will be rough. The menu looks small but what they have to offer will compensate for that. Came here a little early on a weeknight and had no problem getting a table. (Had previously come on a Saturday night and the place was overrun so we just went someplace else.) Fairly small dining room but nice decor reminiscent of Greece. I had the gyro platter. The food came out super fast. There was a huge portion, I definitely didn't need the platter as the gyro itself would have been sufficient. Or the gyro platter could probably feed two people. There was a big pile of gyro meat with some sliced onions and tomatoes over a pita, Tzatziki sauce on the side and fries. Really too much to attempt to eat as a gyro pita sandwich. I'd actually suggest they reduce the portion (and hopefully reduce the price as well.) Unfortunately I thought the gyro was ok but not great. The meat seemed a little dry and flavorless. I hesitated to even order fish fry from a place I'm unfamiliar with but I ordered the cod fillet dinner. Presentation was nice enough, but unfortunately, the beautiful crispy outside did not go with the very mushy inside. I kept looking at it and pulling it apart trying to figure out what I was eating. It was so mushy. I couldn't believe it there was no taste to it. It actually grossed me out. I have such a tiny portion for coleslaw too. I'm a square thick white toasted bread that doesn't go along with fish at all. I ate some of the fries because I was hungry, but I literally couldn't eat the dinner that I just paid so much for I don't know what happened. I'm sorry to have to give it such a horrible rating. But something happened to this fish. It's probably a boxed frozen fish. They got somewhere instead of fresh fish and for the price it should be fresh. I'm writing this just to warn other people that this could vary likely happen to you. I should've known better when I saw that it was a fillet as well. Cod is better and bigger chunks. I honestly am wondering if it was even cod! It tasted nothing like it and I absolutely love cod. The service was very good and food arrived very very quickly. The food was pretty good. The appetizer spanakopita is large, but it did get a little soggy once plated. The steak and chicken kebabs were both good, but there was quite a bit of fat on both. The Greek fries were good, but the wide thick steak fries got a little bit soggy with the lemon juice on the plate. Skinnier fries might do better with that, but everyone does them differently. Sometimes I order the toppings on the side so that I can dip the fries in it. I will definitely come back to try something else. The place was very busy. The first time we came, there was no way we were going to get a table on a Saturday evening. The line was out the door. Plan accordingly!! It is very cute inside with cloth, napkins, and cut paper on top of the glass tables. The chairs are nice, and the tables are small and tightly spaced; they bring carafes of water to reduce trips to the table as space is at such a premium. Amazing overall. For starters, we had lunch with our rambunctious toddler. The owner immediately brought over a small plate of French fries so that she didn't have to wait. This was so appreciated - she was calm and behaved the entire meal. My husband and I both had the authentic gyro sandwich meals. Very tasty! My wife and I have been looking for a really good Greek restaurant and we definitely found one with Gyro House. We went in on a Sunday after church for lunch and the food was amazing. I think that can say this having been to many Greek resultants, this one is absolutely one to try. The staff was cordial and ready to help with any of our requests. Their prices are reasonable and the establishment was very clean. There is one thing else I need to mention. I left my credit card here on accident after paying our bill. I didn't realize it for a couple days, and phoned them. Immediately they told me they had it waiting for me, so the following day I went in to pick it up and order a salad to go for my wife. Again, staff were extremely nice and generous. I will, without a doubt, be back. read more
