Self serve sauce, salad, and dessert station
    Karen K.

I loved the idea of having both jbbq + hot pot in one, but my experience here was just OK. I did make a reservation a week in advance and I had no issue when arriving. I found that it was not a great jbbq restaurant of having larger parties, especially because you're only sharing one hot pot and one grill with everyone. My party of 6 felt very squished at the table, and one person even had to sit at the end. I saw other parties of 6, where they had to have two chairs sit at the end, and they looked uncomfortable as well. It's $42.99 for weekend dinner. Hot pot soup bases are extra costs, and the drinks are charged per can. Not unlimited refills. There's lots of meat options, both for grilling and boiling. The meats tasted fresh. Not a lot of the meats were marinated, and I'm assuming it's because there's a self serve sauce station. There's also vegetable options, appetizers, and fried snacks. Not a lot of dessert options. I found the service to be decent, not as attentive as the other jbbq restaurants in the area. I saw that there were only really 3-4 servers in the entire restaurant. I also felt like the restaurant wasn't prepared for our party. We had to keep asking for the right amount of plates, napkins, grilling tongs, and hot pot spoons. And with water, they kept forgetting to bring back our water jugs after asking for a refill. Maybe my experience here was just because it's a new restaurant and maybe they're still learning the ropes... I would come back again to try it again when they're more established. Tip: 10% off if you pay cash, and additional free parking in the back of the restaurant.

I love the idea of hot pot and grill together. My chef friends are especially excited bc they can showcase their teppanyaki skills on the flat grill ;) We made instant noodles/udon stir-fry, scrambled eggs with lamb meat... the creativity was endless! You do need to pay extra for soup bases if you are doing hot pot. We had the tom yum and pork bone soup bases. The tom yum one is amazing if you love spicy! Food is delicious. I was very surprised that the snacks are so good (takoyaki, brown sugar rice cakes, brown sugar jelly at the sauce counter, etc). They do have tables for max 6 people (non-ideal bc not everyone has access to the hot pot or grill). For 5 people, they just add a chair at the end of a table of 4 (also non-ideal bc you are sitting in the walkway). Tbh, 4 people is the perfect size to share this hot pot and the grill experience.

Black pepper beef ribs (pretty much the only meat that ever came out lol)

Food is good and service is attentive, one price for having the hot pot and grill at the same time is amazing. Worth to try.

The interior leans heavily into traditional Chinese decor, giving it a more immersive, themed feel than your typical hotpot place. They even have gowns you can choose from if you want to dress up a bit and lean into the experience, which adds a fun touch. Not something you see everywhere. Service 4/5 Service was smooth overall. Staff were attentive and things came out at a good pace. It hasn't been overly busy the times I've gone, so hard to say how it holds up during peak hours, but no issues from my visits so far. Food 3.5/5 Solid selection of hotpot ingredients, with enough variety to keep things interesting. Quality was consistent across the board. They also have a bamboo-style drink that stands out visually and fits the whole theme well. Nothing felt lacking, but also nothing that completely blew past expectations. One thing I did notice is it hasn't been packed during my visits, which either means I've been going at quieter times or there are aspects I haven't fully experienced yet during peak hours. Still, for the atmosphere, parking convenience, and overall quality, it's an easy spot to come back to.

Finally lively AYCE hotpot with wagyu…read more Liuyishou is a popular outfit for traditional hotpot, and here in the GTA they have long moved to AYCE format. This Scarborough location has been around for a long time as seen by the dated interior. Nonetheless it's still popular with some good promos to compete among the huge swath of Asian restaurants in this plaza. We chose an array of hotpot broths including the house special spicy, sukiyaki, pork bone broth & tomato soup. We came here to celebrate a family occasion, and Liuyishou delivered with its good selection of broths, meats, seafood, and veggies. The $8 Wagyu add-on on weekend was a nice upgrade--thinly sliced, tender, and worth trying if you want something a bit more indulgent. The $3.99 all-you-can-drink station was a pleasant surprise too, making it easy to keep refilling without thinking twice. Service was quick even despite it being relatively busy and a bit loud during dinner peak. Note the pricing per adult ($34.99 weekend dinner) excludes the soup base which is about $17 for a large shareable pot or $9 for an individual sized pot per guest so the bill can rack up. The wagyu and drinks are add-ons too. They do have a 2 adult + 1 kid family combo for $73.99 on weekends with one drink pitcher excluding soup base. Dessert is included such as taro soft serve, rice ball soup & cold jelly. Skip it or hit it? Hit it for a casual, authentic hotpot experience. Wish they replaced the worn seats.

They have a sauce bar and the washroom is very clean and has mouthwash and floss. They even have feminine hygiene products which is quite thoughtful. Service was pretty good. They came to refill our soup every now and then and food came quite quick. I liked how they offer a big pot or separate individual pots per person. Now on to the actual food, I thought the food was just sooo average. Nothing was bad but at the same time nothing stood out to me... I vastly prefer Daimaru and Haidilao over this place. The soup base here was more bland with less ingredients. The meat was not as tender and fatty. The veggies were fine but the lettuce was a bit bitter. I did like how they have a sauce bar but their soy sauce is VERY salty so be careful. I also wish they had more dessert options. I'm glad I tried it but I don't think I would return considering Daimaru offers the same lunch AYCE at the same price with better food overall and more selections. There are some good things about this place but it's just not enough for me to come back. They also accept credit card which is nice.

There was a big triangle table that people sit side by side. And also table of 4 or table of 8. We have 3 people that be reserved a table of 4. And my husband had a 2 meat shabu shabu with teriyaki base. The meat we chose beef and lamb. The teriyaki base came pretty quick. We started boiling the base and then we got the 2 bowls of meat, 1 bowl of vegetables, and a bowl of the noodles. The base was pretty sweet, but still good with all the ingredients. The dipping sauces were set on a central table that we made our own. I like sesame oil, sesame sauce, Shacha sauce with green onion and cilantro to mix them up. My coconut Tom Yum soup came a bit late. The meat was a good portion, the shrimp was 3 big pieces of tiger shrimp. And there was some veggies at the bottom with noodles. They were all in good portion, the only problem was the soup, it didn't seem to have coconut in it, the taste and the color looked like Tom Yum soup only. For lunch time, my Shabu Shabu was $16.xx+tax and my noodles soup was $9.80+tax. The price was pretty decent. I would like to come back and try other combinations.

The menu for dinner is quite robust and everyone was able to find multiple things that they enjoyed. I particularly love the japanese glass noodles. It goes amazingly with the tomato or sukiyaki soup base. I also love that they provided us with a soup skimmer so we could get rid of the oils as we continued to cook. Compared to the Scarborough location, I'd say this one felt calmer even though it was still pretty packed. I think it's just the way the booths are spaced out and it's really well staffed. It wasn't a long wait for anything, and always easy to flag someone down if we needed to order or just needed some help. The parking here though is quite difficult compared to the Scarborough location. Theres a ton of competing restaurants and the lot isn't large enough to accomodate all of them. There's more parking in the underground space though so you can walk through the plaza if you like.
