    Nicely presented seaweed salad
    Holly K.

I really enjoyed my dinner here. The main selling point for me is their variety, vibe, and the fact that they accept reservations regardless of your party size!! I love that I can choose to eat here, stress-free on a Saturday at 6pm... a busy place during prime dinner time but I can waltz right in because they actually let me make a reservation for 2 people ahead of time. Game-changing. I was also really impressed by their interior space. I didn't sit in one, but they have larger booths in the midsection of their restaurant which are all in semi-circle pods which gives it a very private feel because you cant see any of the tables around you. In general, it's a way better vibe than the competing jbbq places in that it doesn't have that same hustle bustle feel if you know what I mean... way more suitable for date night. They had so many different food items on that menu that I was excited to try. Takowasabi, salmon poke, specialty sushi rolls. All were very good and nicely presented... the sushi rolls were somewhat interesting... one of them had apple in it but I enjoy that they're creative with it. My bf said the meat quality and variety is not as good, but it's still very tasty and tender, plus I personally am willing to sacrifice a bit of meat quality for variety of other items. If you're a heavy meat eater you might disagree though. Service was attentive and on par with what you'd expect from a jbbq restaurant. The price came out to about $120 after tax and tip, which I feel is standard these days for weekend AYCE. Overall, I would def recommend and will likely be back when the next craving/special occasion hits.

The ambience is great, they have open dining area as well as private booth and rooms, dimmed lights and clean interior; great selection of food, from sushi and salad to seafood and meats for grilling... All you can eat! The only thing is when you're in a booth, it's hard to flag for help because the waiters can't see you, but the servers are all very friendly.

Very busy Japanese BBQ place at Leslie and Finch. The Front of House staff was friendly, he was busy too but was so attentive. We had the same experience with our server. The meat came out quickly. Great quality cuts! I also loved the seaweed salad. I could eat 10 of them in a row. There is a 2 hour seating limit but I felt it was enough time for 2 people. The place is also well designed and is bigger inside than it looks. Will definitely be going back for any special occasions.

(4 out of 5 stars) Visited Takumi Japanese BBQ in North York, a newly opened location that has been nicely renovated. The restaurant is large, modern, and comfortable, with many private booths that offer good privacy -- ideal for small groups or couples. We ordered the All You Can Eat Dinner for Two ($91.88). The highly promoted AAA Prime Beef Steak, limited to two pieces per person, was disappointing -- not tender and lacking in flavor, though perhaps we overcooked it slightly on the grill. Most of the other dishes were much better. The garlic shrimp, squid, red boneless beef, and lamb were flavorful and enjoyable. The cold tofu and seaweed salad were good appetizers, though a bit too salty. The Miso soup was ok, 6/10. The Onion soup has no taste 1/10. Desserts, however, were underwhelming. The vanilla ice cream cone had a coarse texture -- more like homemade shaved ice than smooth ice cream -- and the mango pudding lacked richness and flavor. Overall, Takumi offers a pleasant setting and decent variety, but the food quality was uneven. I'd rate it 4 out of 5 stars -- worth trying once, though I'm not sure I'd return.

Just visited Takumi new location at North York and loved everything. The meat were super fresh and well-marinated, and the interior design is very beautiful, cozy with enough privacy for charting and gatherings. Staff were friendly and attentive too. Definitely a new favourite spot and I'll back soon

I'll give it a 5 star. Food is great, ingredients are fresh, you get good portions to start with. Basic service is there. You get your order in, dishes come up timely, and they make the rounds to clear plates. The grills are hot and they have more surface area so it needs to be greased, otherwise the meats get stuck quickly. We put down some pork belly to get things going and it was a lot smoother. They have beef fat available but it wasn't automatically provided. Ventilation is built into the grill itself, so the smoke never leaves the grill area, so you don't leave smelling like you got bbq'd. This is compared to other BBQs where they have vents above you. We were offered to exchange grills several times, which is nice. I like that there are a lot of non marinated beef options. Meats are thin enough to grill fast, but not too thin. The salmon in particular was well seasoned. For drinks, I ordered a watermelon juice. You can literally watch them blend up your watermelon behind the bar, so it's as natural as it gets as far as fruit juice is concerned. Dessert was very good. The creme brulee was very light, very creamy, and not too sweet. They seem to be opened recently so maybe some things are not as optimal.

Came here for dinner for 4. It's still soft opening so I give it some grace. I called beforehand but they do not take reservations if you're not a party of 6 or more. The food came out pretty quick as there wasn't many tables. I think the duration of our time there there was only 3 tables including us. The grill definitely was powerful however, please don't let your server put it to max, our food burnt so easily and the fire was so strong that hot oil from the meats was splashing everywhere which is a hazard. Meats were average, the steak were really tough to chew after the first round and the pork belly was literally all fat with barely any meat. However, what's disappointing was the service, it was almost non-existent. It was super hard to find a staff and they rarely checked up on us to clear plates or see if we wanted to order more. Overall a disappointing experience.

Such a WONDERFUL service and food quality , we had a great time there and will definitely recommend

Really enjoyed our experience at Takumi. You grill the food yourself, which makes it fun and interactive, and everything we ordered tasted great. The meats were good quality and cooked nicely on the grill, and the sushi was really flavourful and fresh. Everything came out at a good pace, so we never felt rushed or overwhelmed. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, making it easy to enjoy a laid-back meal. Service was friendly and helpful without being overbearing. To top it all off, the soft serve taro ice cream at the end was the perfect ending to the meal. Prices felt fair for the quality and experience. Definitely a place I'd come back to and recommend.

Since we've been here multiple times already, we're familiar with what cuts of meat we like and no longer have to get their beef meat platter. Also love that they currently have new BBQ dishes that are so good! Lemongrass Dai style beef plate 100/5 - LOVED this. This new BBQ dish was so packed with flavour and has the perfect beef marbling. So good we got this twice! Original Wang Galbi 5/5 - Delicious galbi with bone still on. Garlic Beef Plate 5/5 Sweet Soy Beef Plate 5/5 Qiquihar Special Meat 5/5 - Dish comes with cilantro, green onion and onion. Cold Noodle Soup 5/5 - This is a must get since it's so refreshing with all the BBQ meats. Korean style bibimbap 5/5 - LOVE this - comes with tuna and an assortment of other ingredients to mix together. Overall, I can't emphasize enough how delicious this place is. Their meats are high quality and I love that they're all marinated differently so you can really taste the difference in flavour. DIY sauce bar on the side. Great service as well - servers are always around to get you what you need. Definitely worth checking out for sure!

The restaurant is located inside the Empress Walk Mall and they do offer free parking for 2 hours so make sure you validate your parking ticket before leaving. The inside of the restaurant was modernly decorated and seating was very spacious and comfortable. The washrooms were really clean as well and service was exceptional. The waiter came and took away empty plates, replenished water and replaced our grill plates in a timely manner. We ordered 2 Combo A's and 1 Combo B which was $15.99 and $19.99 respectively. Each combo comes with 1 appetizer, seasonal veggies, salad, rice, kimchi, lettuce, miso soup, dessert and the different types of meats that comes with each combo. Everything tasted quite delicious and honestly this was a ton of food for the price. They might've made a mistake and gave us 2 portions of their beef since we ordered 2 Chicken Combo's and 1 Beef combo but we somehow ended up with more beef than chicken. If I do had to nitpick, I would say that the pork belly and their beef slices were really thin but at this price, that is to be expected. Unfortunately for dessert, they didn't have soft serve so I opted for their creme brulee which was so soft, creamy and delicious. I just wished it was a bit bigger. I tried my coworker's mango sago and it was creamy with just the right level of sweetness and wasn't too tart. I would highly recommend this place for their lunch combos but it's only available between 12pm-4pm on weekdays. These combos are great options for people that don't necessarily want to do their AYCE menu but still want some Japanese BBQ. I'll definitely come back and maybe try their lunch or dinner AYCE. Overall though, it was a fantastic lunch and all 3 of us were really full.

Only good quality meat tastes this good. The coleslaw was good . The secrete ingredient in the dressing was mango. Don't worry if you don't like mango. You don't taste it, it's just part of the background flavour and creates a flavour profile that is amazing. Same with the potato salad, tiny bits of mango in it, it just blends with all the other ingredients to create something really special. Service was excellent, I think it was the owner, but judging by the place, all the employees would be as knowledgeable and helpful, I diols mention, the wings. Very good, the honey garlic sauce dripped of onto the plater, I loved dipping the fries in it. We tried the hot honey on the side. Normally I don't like the spicy, but even with the kick it had, it was very good. The price point was very good. Even with the recent increases in price, it more affordable and higher quality than our regular spots closer to home. We had the feast for 2 for $75. It could have fed 1 or 2 more. We loved it. Cleanliness was excellent and exceptional. Looking in the kitchen, I've never seen a cleaner place. The only negative which is a positive for us. The sausages were not ready. My husband was disappointed, but it's good to know the food is that fresh and probably why the rest was so good and so fresh and flavourful. This is a place we will be coming back to and would recommend
