The waiter came and took away empty plates, replenished water and replaced our grill plates in a timely manner. We ordered 2 Combo A's and 1 Combo B which was $15.99 and $19.99 respectively. Each combo comes with 1 appetizer, seasonal veggies, salad, rice, kimchi, lettuce, miso soup, dessert and the different types of meats that comes with each combo. Everything tasted quite delicious and honestly this was a ton of food for the price. They might've made a mistake and gave us 2 portions of their beef since we ordered 2 Chicken Combo's and 1 Beef combo but we somehow ended up with more beef than chicken. If I do had to nitpick, I would say that the pork belly and their beef slices were really thin but at this price, that is to be expected. There were names of meat parts that i never heard of (I am Japanese born Japanese) and some words don't make sense at all - so we chose not to eat any from Yakiniku menu, as it did not seem authentic. And also - the grill is electric - not charcoal or gas. Ummmm. So, Shanghai bites. We got - braised beef noodle - XLB - SJB (regular pork & pork with shrimp and green peppercorns) Beef noodle was very disappointing. It was supposed to be "Shanghai noodle " but it came with flabby egg noodle. Beef was very tender and soup was OK, but this noodle ruined my experience. Having this type of noodle in braised beef noodle is just like ramen with cappellini pasta. Didn't feel right. BUT Both SJB and XLB were delicious. XLB's skin was beautifully thin and pleated. A touch sweeter than my liking but nonetheless, the art/craftsmanship was worth the money and travel. SJB had a special combo, choosing 2 different kinds of SJB. Each comes with 2 pieces. Perfect for us (2 of us). They were impressive! Plenty of soup and nicely seasoned. I particularly liked the one with shrimp and peppercorns.
