I am in love with their chicken tender and waffles dish. I usually order it when I come here. The waffle is soft with a lightly crispy outside; their chicken tenders are flavorful and not dry. Along with the food, they give plenty of syrup and condiments to go with the order. For the freshness and quality of the food, the friendly service, and affordable prices, it's a great casual eatery in the H street area. They also have a good cheeseburger from my son and husband's reviews, but I may have to try that next time. That is, if I can resist ordering my to-go meal here. I see a lot of really bad old reviews, so I'm wondering if they hired different people or if management has changed since then. read more

I feel like Crown Fried has to have some of the best fried chicken wings in the city, they're perfect and inexpensive. I've picked up from here, and have also ordered via uber eats. We always get the chicken wings and waffle. It's so good. It surprises me every time we order how consistently good it is. It's quick, and cheap, but also tastes really good! Also, we definitely order a box of chicken wings if we're ever going to a gathering, or have people over. Everyone always compliments how good the chicken is, because it's that GREAT! read more

Decent food only if you're picking it up yourself. Delivery orders are consistently delayed or missing an item, making the delivery experience doubtful/lackluster. For today, the $8+ dessert I ordered is missing from the bag that was stapled shut. Delivery service will only reimburse for dessert. Had I known I wouldn't get my dessert, I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. So I have to eat the delivery fees, tax, and tip that accounted for the dessert myself. Not only that, but the number on their website and delivery bags is out of service, so you can't even call to ensure they make anything correctly. I won't be ordering again. read more

I have ordered food from H&Chicken a few times via DD. Ordered chicken and Mac and cheese. Most recently I ordered whiting fish with fried. The whiting was really good. It is better than the chicken. The chicken, fish, fries, and Mac & cheese are all seasoned well. The food was not hot but lukewarm, probably due to the distance between the restaurant and my home. Received food in a timely manner considering distance. Will definitely order from them again. read more

Probably the BEST fried chicken I have had in DC BY FAR! Not greasy at all and made with fresh ingredients. The mac&cheese was made individually (not made in a big pan!) with so much flavor. This seems to be the same place but it has definitely made improvements. They have a new name, sign, and some new and friendlier staff. The chicken tastes similar to me and so do the waffles. We ordered in person and it didn't take very long. My waffle was great and had butter on it (not shown in the picture). It was melted! The wings were crispy and fresh. I have been wanting to try some dishes from this place for a while and when DoorDash had 50% off next three orders this place is definitely on the list. First of all, you come to this place for greasy food: fried chicken, tenders, fries and what not. They are generally good about those dishes. But I think the star of this restaurant is actually their NY-style chicken over rice! The white sauce tasted really good so did the chicken! This is especially great because a similar establishment for NYC-style halal food in Georgetown just closed for good. Portion is big as well and it came with a naan bread that is sliced in four. I read from other reviews they open until 4AM! That is just a plus! read more

I have never gone in, but I work at a hotel overnight and they're the only food place that stays open late and delivers! Not only that but every time I order whether it be for me only or me and my coworkers the food it always great. It takes about 20 minutes to get to us and the food is still hot and fresh. I always recommend them to the guests that stay at our hotel and need a late nite bite to eat. read more

How may I best describe the waffles at H & Chicken? The word "fluffy" comes to mind, along with "buttery, warm, and heavenly". This was the best waffle I've ever tasted in a restaurant--and it cost me about $3! The collared greens are $4, but are fantastic as well! I have limited experience with soul food, but know enough to appreciate the rich and satisfying taste of these doctored-up veggies in their most decadent state. I would recommend H & Chicken to anyone looking for a quick, easy, and fun treat to brighten their day. If I find myself in the Union Market area again, I would love to eat here again. read more

I don't know how the food was still hot after a 25 minute Ubereats ride to me, but it was! The chicken is great with a really crispy crunchy coating -- a little less salt would only help. And it's just as good cold the next day. The waffle was big and light and fluffy but didn't come with any syrup or butter. The Mac & cheese is beautiful to look at, with a perfect golden surface, and happily it tastes as good as it looks. Seriously -- if you love m&c, get some extras or you'll be sorry lol. Unfortunately I didn't get the coleslaw I ordered so I can't speak to that. The red velvet cake was a pass, too salty... although the frosting was great! The wings are small as hell and they don't give you extra wings to accommodate for the tiny wings. I spent about $30 for two meals . It was so small I thought it was a kids meal. You're better off going to Popeyes down the street. The Mac and cheese is grainy and lacks flavor. read more

I was driving down H Street looking for Popeyes chicken and discovered this chicken joint after I passed Popeyes by. I stopped since it looked clean and it was new to me. As I walked in I was greeted by a young lady with a smile. The chicken looked really delicious as I gazed at the pictures that were posted all over the carry out. It even smelled great. As I drove home it smelled so good I could hardly wait to open the box and commence a hurting on that bird. It was ok. Not bad. Not great but decent. The lemonade/iced tea /Arnold Palmer was the prize. It was perfectly sweet and tart. I wanted more. The young lady put an extra piece of chicken in my chicken box. I wish she had given me a large Arnold Palmer instead. Next time I'll be sure to stop by and get a large Arnold Palmer. read more

We ordered food through Uber Eats and were not disappointed. Everything was hot fresh and well packed. We both ordered a 3 pc with 2 sides and a fountain drink. The chicken was very well seasoned, the roll was soft, the collard greens were on point and the Mac was baked and super cheesy. Neither of us could finish all 3 pieces of chicken, for the price this was super filling and worth it. The chicken was also super crispy as well. The banana pudding was ok just needed more wafers. Warning No Phone Number, complaints not welcome. When they first opened I was served hot, well seasoned chicken and delicious Mac and cheese. Fast forward to the opening of a 2nd location and it's been a miss each visit. It's rare that bad management is enough to tip a good restaurant into a one star category but here we are. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich online (no orders by phone), and selected mayo/lettuce/pickles from their very confusing online order system. Picked it up, got home, and it had cheese on it. Assuming it was a mistake, I called and requested a new one. I then ended up in the single most bizarre phone call I've ever had with a restaurant worker. To be clear, she was a professional and super nice, but the management and policies here are bizarre. I was told that I should have assumed the sandwich came with cheese, despite the fact that cheese is not standard on a fried chicken sandwich, the picture didn't have cheese in it, and there wasn't any indication in any online text that it might come with cheese. And because I had left the store, nothing could be done. The woman I spoke to even admitted that she totally understood why I was confused, but that her manager was strict about it. Y'all. I know you're under new management and trying to spruce up your image. But don't pick dumb hills to die on with what could otherwise be loyal customers. Google led me to Ted's, which is both a sit-down restaurant, but also a cafe/bakery in the front. I had an iced Americano, and asked for a tiny, tiny splash of half & half. I also had a strawberry "poptart". The "poptart" was pretty good. When my coffee came out, it was white. Literally, white. It was whiter than the iced chai latte with whole milk that my husband had gotten. I had to send it back. I asked for it just black this time around, because I just didn't trust them to get "a splash" right. They were willing to do it, which was nice. The coffee was good, but it just wasn't what I had originally wanted.

The woman working there was an absolute sweetheart and helped me a ton when I felt a little overwhelmed by all the menu options. She was patient, kind, and gave great recommendations. Overall, really delicious food and a welcoming experience. I would definitely return.

Although probably first established while Friends was still on the air, Tryst has kept up with the comings and goings of Adams Morgan, reiterating itself with changes in the local culture and the arts, which are often on display. Personally, I've visited Tryst more time than I can count, and at literally all time of the day. I've definitely taken full advantage of Tryst's extended hours to fuel many, many late-night study and work sessions. I love how cozy the space is, with their slightly worn but super comfy couches and armchairs, dim lighting, and ambient cafe music. The staff is super friendly; you can either order from the counter if you're taking your order to go or just snag a spot and wait for the servers to make their way to you.
