We were looking for a quick order so we didn't have to cook last night. It was decent. I got the chicken tenders and fries while my partner got the wings. The chicken tenders were fried in a pretty good batter and she had no complaints with the wings. My only complaint is the drinks didn't come in a can and were in plastic cups which isn't sanitary at this time. Other than that, it was what's to be expected from a Crown Fried Chicken. I reminisced on my younger days in NY, eating at this spot. read more

Terrible service. Take out customers made to wait while Postmates, UberEats and DoorDash always taken care of first. So if you're not a person with a smart phone, a credit card and the ability to pay a service fee then you're not getting food. Didn't think I'd see class warfare in a fried chicken shop but there you go. Also, at least one worker packing food with his mask around his chin. Wings with a side of coronavirus anyone? read more

Horrible customer service. Zhari the owner of the location in hyattsville was not trying to assist me with my order. I placed it online and door dash automatically changed my address to DC. When I called to cancel neither my order in dc I was told the only option I has was online. I went online and the only assistance they only had a phone number to call that was no longer in service. I have ordered from this place a total of 3 times since being in DC. The first time the food was good. It looked and tasted delicious. I ordered a second time. Items were left off my order. I tried to contact the but they only have an email that NOBODY responds to. I order again and now they leave LOTS of items off my order. My waffle was saturated in grease or SOMETHING. The chicken and waffles are so delicious. The waffle is the perfect blend of doughy and sweet. The chicken is always fried golden and goes so well together but my favorite is the chicken and rice with cucumber sauce. I get it every time I'm in the area. Came here last night and I usually don't do reviews if I didn't like the food. I only liked the fries, they gyro was okay but too much sauce in it and not enough meat. This is a place you go to off the late afternoon drinking all day and you don't notice it's not that great. The service was nice at least and people like it cause it was a line so it probably was just my order. I mean I did get a gyro at a chicken spot. Not sure if I would try again. This is 3 blocks away from me and I come here when I get the late night munchies. I regularly crave fried chicken. It is one of the best foods on the planet. I haven't been to the original in NYC, so my review is only based on what I've experienced here. The chicken is juicy and has always been pretty consistent. "Always" means about 8-9 visits in my 5 months of living in the area. The breading is crispy and light, not too heavy. Here is what I was surprised by...their waffle. It is chewy, soft goodness with the right touch of sweetness. With their fried chicken wings, it makes for a heavenly combo. Their battered fries are also pretty good...crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and good flavor. Their banana pudding leaves more to be desired. It has that really fake banana flavor. There are real banana slices in it, but that artificial flavor in the pudding is a little overwhelming. Mac and cheese is bland and watery. The prices are fair and I've gotten pretty good service every time I've gone.l read more

A friend of mine raves about this chicken shack that is just steps away from his row home off of H St. So I finally got here and was pleasantly surprised, however there was a bit of exaggeration on his part. The wings are kind of small which is good I guess, because that may indicate that Crown is not trying to pump you with hormones and the place is clean. Just so you know, there are a cast of characters that hang around this spot day and night, so if you're not the one to engage strangers that sit around and talk sh*t ; that just might crack at you to see what you'll do then don't come here. All eyes on us hard.... they knew I was NOT in the mood. But for the most part pretty good wings, but not the best I've ever had. Good thing is, you can get waffles here. This place is open almost all day and night. Mac and cheese not that authentic. So basically if you can fry your own chicken and you have access to real mac n' cheese this place is not going to excite you as much. But if you happen to be hanging out on this side of town and need something to soak up the alcohol on a late night.I would say stop in. read more

So I don't know why I'm just finding out about the shrimp quesadilla but you will never order chicken again once you've tried it! Mac n cheese is better then most places but not worth the constipation that comes after. This is the ONLY REASON I'm giving it 4 star. Yes, the chicken wings are pretty small, but good seasoning and taste was what sets them apart from the rest! Ordering the chicken accompanied with the waffles would be a really good match. The waffles were pretty big and just the right amount of butter and add your syrup to get that full southern chicken and waffles taste. One waffle is more than enough for one person and 3-4 wings should fill you up. On YELP, it states that they are open to 5 am most days, but it really depends on the flow of people in and out of the place and the amount of food that they have left to actually cook. A couple of tables are inside with a few bar stools, but I would take my food and run back home to get your grub on! read more

Crown has the best fried chicken in town. Every time I order from them, it's been a delivery order, but their chicken and sides are so good. You have to get the biscuits. My last order forgot to include them and I was so so disappointed because they're so so good! But I'd still go back because their service and quality of food is from the heart. 100% recommend their fried chicken, biscuits, and collard greens. Ordered last night via DoorDash. I was served the nastiest, greasiest and most overcooked chicken ever. Honestly, it was beyond disrespectful. The thought that an employee selected & packed those specific pieces for a premium (delivery) paying customer shows that H & Chicken has no regard or respect for their customers. No employee would even eat those chicken pieces if offered for free at the end of shift. Both chicken legs looked as if someone had taken a one bite from each and then refried them. The chicken wing was so small there was hardly any meat. The thigh was dry all the way to the bone. The breast wasn't overcooked however it was saturated in grease. I will warn everyone I know not to waste their time. Again, I'm offended and will never order from here again. read more

Went there this am. Places an order online for pickup. Upon arrival, I walked to the pick up area and was ignored. Another customer walked in and was helped. So once the older lady finished assisting him, I politely said "excuse me, I am here for a pickup as well." Ignored again. She proceed to take another customer's order. So when she complete with him, I reminded her that I was here to pickup an order. She asked what my name was only to hand me the bag that had been sitting there the entire time I was in the restaurant. Food was cold and the chicken was small. read more

Me and my girlfriend came here on some late night grub hunting. I had the Philly and the Mac and cheese. I will say that Philly was so good. Def better than the Philly I had in Philadelphia. But that's for a different review...anyway you should def come here bc the chicken is crispy and good and their serving size is pretty good. Spent an extra day in Washington DC staying in a hotel in Chinatown and was given the suggestion of eating at Crown Fried chicken, glad they did. Chicken was very crispy with a lot of flavor and the waffle was crispy and had a very homemade taste. Have to say was the best chicken and waffles I've had in a while. read more

Not the Crown of old. Been going here for years and as of 2 years ago they changed. They changed when the area started to be heavily gentrified. They remodeled ( good idea) but took away items that I liked getting from them. Certain juices were no longer apart of the establishment and food like warm sweet potatoes pies!! Food is still good, good prices, but they took away items that were home runs for me. Thanks GENTRIFICATION. read more

The lovely service I have always received, whether at the bar, a table, or a…read moresofa, has been consistent though a decade of visits, as has the engagement of this charming bijou of a cafe with the surrounding neighborhood. Although probably first established while Friends was still on the air, Tryst has kept up with the comings and goings of Adams Morgan, reiterating itself with changes in the local culture and the arts, which are often on display. The building itself has a narrative to it, but it's the centrality of this respite from 'everywhere else' that makes Tryst stand out, lets it occupy memories of comfort and hospitality in my mind, keeps pulling at me to visit time and again. If it wasn't for Tryst, I doubt professional and personal lows would have turned out so rosy, in the end, for me.

With their extended hours, expansive food and drink selection, and cozy vibes, you can easily hole up in Tryst for the entire day. Personally, I've visited Tryst more time than I can count, and at literally all time of the day. I've definitely taken full advantage of Tryst's extended hours to fuel many, many late-night study and work sessions. I love how cozy the space is, with their slightly worn but super comfy couches and armchairs, dim lighting, and ambient cafe music. The staff is super friendly; you can either order from the counter if you're taking your order to go or just snag a spot and wait for the servers to make their way to you.
