So they have been around for a few years and this is the first I have been in when we are home visiting family. This is one where I wish you could give 1/2 stars because it's not quite a 4. We started with the pretzel sticks and they were really good and came with cheese and honey mustard. I ordered the jersey dog with fries, there was a mixup and my order didn't get ordered with the other 3 orders at the table. They were very quick about fixing the issue. The fries were awesome! I didn't care for the taste of hot dog, I would get the NY dog the next time, since it's all beef and was really good-I tired the husbands. The bun needs some help, maybe steamed or grilled. It was pretty dry and frankly I think maybe had been frozen or refrigerated because the bun it's self was cold. My husband ordered onion rings and they were delish! Hot dogs are good. The pulled pork sucks. The sappy country music ballads blaring really damaged the mood. Everyone complained but he was too busy chatting on his cell phone to change it. The poor cowboy singing those whiny sh*t songs...well I hope someone shot him. read more

I've been here twice now and I love it. The food is great for a hot-dog and burger joint, and the beer selection is top notch. They had beers I can't find in a couple of my favorite bee-focused stores in Cleveland. Service was great both times. The bar tender was especially attentive to us on our first visit and took care of us quite well since we had no clue about a few of the beers in the cooler. I've only had the hot dogs and burgers, so I can't speak to anything else, but I was quite happy with the flavor of our selections. I didn't see anything wrong with the food or drink prices. Some of the beers can be double the cost of a Bud, but that's what happens when you opt to drink a micro brew. read more

Service was fast and friendly. Loved the concept of regionally unique hotdogs. I do wish my New Jersey "ripper" was actually ripped; it was merely wrinkly and a bit crispy. We came pretty late after a long day and weren't expecting much to be open but the server here welcomed us in and was actually excited to have some customers! Stopped in on a whim, first time back in Sandusky in 4 years. 10 pm bartender was excited to tell us KITCHEN CLOSED . after ordering a drink 3 young women walked in and grabbed a table and they were greeted with KITCHEN IS CLOSED AND WE HAVE NO SERVER. mind you there were 6 people sitting at the bar including us. Of course the girls were smarter than us and immediately left.. Well I had low expectations going in, thankfully. The food didn't take long or anything it just seemed our waiter was throughly mad we were there. We were up Sunday, 4/19 to catch a concert at the Sandusky State Theater. We got to the Tony's @ 5:45 since they're walking distance to the theater. We sat down and were greeted by a cordial waitress. We ordered drinks and got busy in conversation. We placed our food orders and started waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting. By 6:30, our glasses were empty, and our food still hadn't arrived. By 6:40 our friend had to leave, as he was one of the performers at the State. He asked to cancel his order, but please get ours. The waitress informed us there were problems in the kitchen, and she had called the manager in to assist and get things straightened out. At about 6:45, my sandwich (a so-so Ruben) and my friend's cancelled hot dog showed up. It took until 6:54 for my wife's sandwich( a pulled pork that magically turned into a bronco burger) to come out. The only saving grace of the whole ordeal, was that the waitress took care of our check. I can honestly say this ranked in the top 5 worst dining experiences I have ever had in my life. If the waitress hadn't commpted everything, I would say this was the worst. She let us know it was her 2nd day working there, I hope she finds some place better to work. read more

The bartenders are friendly and the drinks are great but the food is horrible. Several times we sent our meal back because it was burnt to a crisp and greasy. Clearly the cook has a bad attitude or just clueless about how to create a palatable meal. read more

I love Tony's Hot Dog, usually. I work for an area law firm and we all are fans of these fantastic dogs. That being said, I went for a late lunch--service AND food was pathetic. The infamous "New Yorker" Dog I ordered was delivered with burnt saurkraut and the "dog" that snaps when you bite it was missing..."waiting on a truck, they ran out and got some all beef...." I wish I had been told this before I ordered. The staff here (today) could use a refresher in customer service. read more

This is now our second time going to HDT's, our first experience was much better than our most recent. Our waitress was somewhat rude and didn't go out of her way to make her tables feel welcome. When I ordered off the kid's menu for our 1 year old, (nowhere were beverage options printed on the menu), I asked "can he have a milk for his drink?" and was simply told, "No". I asked "No? Really?" and was told "No." No "I'm sorry we don't carry that" or "I'm sorry we don't have that on our menu but I can offer you the following options...". It made me feel embarassed and ruined my experience. If you're going to offer a Kid's Menu, which I understand this is a bar and they don't have to, make it kid friendly. The fruit cup that came with the Kid's cheeseburger was literally a Del Monte Fruit Cup. read more

Just want to start off, it was a Tuesday afternoon. The dining area had only two people at the bar, far from busy. It took over forty minutes for our dishes to arrive. We sat in the back dining room due to having an infant with us, due to the high bar stools in the front. We didn't mind the back location, we did mind when our food finally arrived that our napkin caddy, ketchup, malt vinegar.......every condiment on our table was empty. It doesn't end there, EVERY table (five to be exact) all the condiments were empty!!!! The bathroom was NOT clean, some weird alarm went off and it took about five minutes for an employee to thankfully type in a code to stop the noise. The food was okay, but when spending 7.95 a dog you would only hope the pretzel bun wouldn't chip your front tooth. My husband is a high established chef in South Florida and I have been in hospitality for numerous years, from our point of perspective......spend your hard earned money elsewhere!!!! read more
