Horrible experience. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the place but the employees and service is terrible. My family and I came to here to get groceries and after we were done shopping we wanted to get food. My mom who is handicapped, uses the electric wheelchair and the man who claims he is the manager took the electric chair while we were eating. When I asked him why he stated for it to charge but I informed him we weren't done using it and he still argued with me since we weren't currently shopping in the grocery store, the wheel chair needed to be charged. WARNING !!!!! I came in to eat at the food court and there was a German cockroach on the floor crawling right by the seating area. I could only imagine how many are in the cooking area. Get only what necessary that you can't get at Jewel, Aldi, or Marianos. Sometimes I get things because I don't want to make a second stop. When I don't , I almost always regret it. Produce needs to be checked and thrown out daily but they must leave them out for days. We bought some bibim nameul which are veggies used for bibimbop. It was so rancid we could eat it that night. Same with the seaweed salad we bought which was very overpriced to begin with. Had almost an alcohol like flavor. It was bad. Yesterday check out the veggies I got because I wanted this to be my one stop shop.... Ugh.... Update 8-11-2019 So beware of you lose a receipt and return something, you must use all or more than the amount in the certificate. They won't let you use partial of it anywhere. I bought some $27 dollar mats that didn't fit my kitchen and happened to misplace my receipts.. so I got a large credit. Well had I know this stupid policy I would have asked for two separate certificates. So they wouldn't let me use any of my store credit cuz I spent less. Forcing me to spend more here. Yeah for a Korean supermarket and food court in Naperville. :-( when it is compared to the the quality of Korean produce, items and food found at Niles. The supermarket itself is only slightly smaller than the Niles' H Mart but it carries the essential stuff we expect from H Mart. So not much issues here. The 3 stars in this review is essentially for the food court. I was told not to compare to the Korean food in Niles and came in without high expectations. After having our dinner here, I agree, it falls short. We bought food from three stalls, sushi, Tofu soup and a plate of Chinese fried flat noodles. The taste of each of these were actually decent. The sushi were deep fried and the tofu soup came with lots of sides. However, the sushi and tofu soup only provided the bare minimum of what you expect, the sushi has a bare minimum of avocado and salmon inside, Tofu soup is literally just tofu (where's the egg?). To top off the experience, the service at the food court really lacks any passion, energy or concern for the clients. The other stalls' servers were either on their phone, absent from the counter, or ... (let me try to put it nicely) ... just don't care. read more

Shopping-wise this location has nearly everything you will need as far as Asian groceries, fruits, snacks, and miscellaneous item. It's almost like a Mitsuwah except on a smaller scale and minus the gift shops. They could do more with all the space that they have over in the Food Court because right now, the food and bakery section only fills about 40% of the actual surface area. Speaking of food court, today was my first time trying out the foods in the cafeteria. I noticed that they had a Bakery section, which has very good pastries and sweet bread treats by the way. However, the price is a little steep. Fortunately for them, being in the suburbs, I don't have many Asian bakeries to choose from when my cravings call for a green-bean paste bread so I was willing to fork over $6 for a section. But comparatively to Starbucks prices, their pastries are a good deal. Next to the Bakery were other ethnic food stands: Vietnamese Pho, Filipino cuisines, Sushi/Japanese, Chinese (Korean), and Korean foods. I can't be sure how authentic these foods are but if your stomach start growling in the mist of grocery shopping (which can happen), you can stop by for some eats here. I didn't want to try Vietnamese because it was too risky. I know my Vietnamese foods and I didn't want to be let down just yet. Besides, I saw one bowl that had broccoli in the Pho and I didn't feel so inclined. The Chinese section had mostly bento box combinations and soup varieties with names that sounds more Korean than Chinese. Today, I was here with a girlfriend and I had the red spicy seafood noodle soup. It wasn't too spicy as I had expected and the flavoring was alright but the broth was nothing impressive. They gave me 1 oyster which was really chewy and I questioned if it was cooked. They had small pieces of squid and maybe 2 shrimp in total. The rest was red broth with kim-chi flavored cabbages and carrots. My girlfriend had the Bento box with Bulgogi beef and she said her meat was somewhat chewy. The presentation was nice and they gave her some variety but she have had better. Here's my overall review for Hmart: 4 stars for shopping (has a big selection and offers tastings) 3 stars for the eats (decent, not the best and not the cheapest) 3 stars for the general customer service (note: they close at 9pm). I would rate it over as a 3.5 but Yelp doesn't give me the choice. Regarding the last part about customer service, don't buy anything late at night if you aren't sure if you will like it. I got something that ended up costing more than I thought at check out but by the time my receipt was rung up and I wanted to return, they told me that their customer service is now closed (even though their store was still open) and if I wanted to return, I can come back tomorrow. read more

Huge Asian grocery store with tons of seafood, produce, meat, noodles, frozen foods, snacks, knick knacks, etc. I saw some pretty rare items in the produce section: -Black tomatoes -Asian pear -Star fruit -Lots of tofu Hmm...there were more, but I can't think of their names. I've picked up some blue crabs here before that's pretty good. They have good deals on noodle soup bowls and a large selection of them to choose from. They carry one of my favorite snacks - Lotte Waffles...so buttery crispy delicious. This store has a whole aisle dedicated to certain foods that I didn't think would take up a whole aisle like the seaweed aisle, mushrooms aisle, and kimchi wall! They also sell appliances and home goods (rice cookers, space heaters, cat slippers, rice bins, pots and pans, and junk that are fun to look at. The prices are good and sometimes cheaper than the smaller grocery stores. The food from the food court is decent. I grabbed some Filipino breakfast from here once but wasn't impressed. One lady was kind of rude but this other guy was overly helpful- but I had to google a picture of what I was looking for because he didn't speak English well. Cashiers seem to be all Asian. It drops stars from me. It is because when I have to wait over 10 minutes to get some service at customer service when they see me waiting at the desk is a negative experience for me. A cashier lady did see I was there and finally helped me out she was busy herself doing cashier work it seems they might be a little under staff for a busy weekend. I was glad I got service to get my reward points but I felt stupid standing there for a good 10 minutes looking like a moron thinking Asian should have some customer service and me being Chinese doesn't make me feel good. A bit smaller than the Niles location but still has an excellent selection of Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and other Asian goods. You won't find some of the nicer home-made items here and there is less choices of swimming fish but their selection of dry and frozen items is very impressive. This is especially useful if you're looking for noodles, frozen dumplings, or rice cakes. It's also nice how Korean / Chinese / Japanese goods are sitting side by side so you have the choice of directly comparing products (a lot of items are pretty similar in all 3 cuisines, especially if they are rice or noodle products). There is also plenty of parking in this area and tons of great restaurants nearby. I wish they'd open a location in the north or northwest suburbs but until then, the giant assortment of items here will keep me coming back to Naperville regularly. read more

Bring your own shopping bags! Came here in search of yummy and convenient food. That is most certainly what we found. I decided to come here after we walked around Naperville. Hmart is always reliable. I knew that getting kimbap and bulgolgi for dinner wouldn't be a bad choice. Fruits inside looked a bit dead. Other than that, everything seemed fine. We got a lot of food to go from the food court. There was a bit of a language barrier, but the food was good! I do wish I could have tried the Filipino food station as well, but it was closed early. The food we got here was good and even though we got it to go it still came with banchan and rice. There is a nice display of the foods you can order at the Korean food stand so you can see what you will be served in case you are not familiar with Korean food names. I like to pick up items at this location that I normally don't see in grocery stores near my neighborhood. Their produce is nice, but there will be hit or misses like any other grocery stores. The dry goods section is wonderful. It's always stocked with items such as wood ears, mushrooms, gog, noodles, and etc. The fresh seafood isle isn't that impressive, they don't have a lot of selection, or maybe I've been going on bad days. I haven't paid much attention to the meat section but from a quick glance there's always staff members organising and restocking new meat products. The snacks/ drinks isle is great. I enjoy the sweet aloe or yogurt drinks. One thing to keep in mind, be careful when you purchase pickled items in large glass jars, they are faulty, because I've had several experiences where kimchi juice was leaking from the glass jar. At first I thought it was me buying a bad jar so I tried to be very careful when handling the jar. No it happened again recently this 1st week of May. I've learned my lesson & will stick to smaller portions in the plastic jars instead. Overall the store is ok. Food quality almost always fresh, packaged well, clean, and organized. Carries wide variety of foods. No issues at the cashier register and its service. Though 50% of time there was long lines with only one cashier register, but they usually open up another line. Plenty of parking. There is a Korean food court adjacent to this supermarket. This is perhaps one of the best Asian grocery stores in the area in terms of variety, selection, and size. The convenience of doing grocery in this store is there is a Costco right next to it. All you need pretty much can be done through both Costco and H-Markt. Amazon Fresh across the street will soon have grand opening. There is an Aldi Grocery Store one block away. There is a Hong Kong Supermarket in Yorkshire Plaza, Aurora, IL (6 miles away) that is comparable with a Chinese food court. Two things H-Mart can do differently: 1) Under "Contact Us" section of H-Mart homepage, the webform to submit feedback did not work nor provide an email. If no info provided, what's the point of listing "Contact Us"? This would come across as if they are not really open for feedback/inquiry/suggestions. 2) A small subset of products carried by this particular H-Mart failed to carry flagship products before offering special varieties. For example, Nature's Soy. Most common products would be both "Sweetened" and "Unsweetened" soymilk, especially Sweetened soymilk being most popular. Unfortunately, the sweetened soymilk was missing or out of stock from the shelf while other flavors were available. This feels like going into an Apple Retail Store trying to get an iPhone and none is available or going to Google.com and the search engine does not work or logging on to Facebook with FB feeds and all connections disappeared. Highly recommend having the flagship products available before expanding to other varieties/flavors. read more

This H-Mart has everything you need to cook up any authentic Korean dish and has fresh bonchon served daily. They stock up on various cuts of meats, with my regular purchases of the ribeye steak and LA kalbi short ribs. The marinade on both are always perfect; flavorful, smoky, and not too salty. I wish they had some in-house restaurants like some of the other locations, but is not the case. However, I'm grateful that this location is available in the west suburbs. read more

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, H mart that's closer than the crazy Niles one? Yes please! So I've been to the one in Schaumburg and was disappointed because it was tiny compared to the Niles location. I just assumed that Naperville's H mart would also be small. But it wasn't!! It's just slightly smaller than the Niles location, which I was super thrilled about! Pros: The produce selection was smaller, but still had everything I needed to make my Thai dishes. And while each department didn't have as much stuff as their larger location, it surprisingly had more unique items. At least I thought so. For example, I couldn't find tapioca pearls (bubble tea) at the Nile's location but found them here. There's a mini food court with some decent looking stalls. Also, it wasn't even busy around noon on a Saturday, which is a dream for people who hate large crowds at grocery stores. Cons: But because it's not as busy here, some of the produce looked kinda wack. I had to do quite a bit of searching to find some Thai eggplant that wasn't completely wrinkly and mushy. Yes, this place smells like straight up old, warm fish but there's just so much awesome crap in here that I can't give it less than 4 stars. Their tofu section is Buh-Nanas! Any they have every kind and flavor of tofu that you could ever want... they even sell some of the same brands as Whole Foods but for much, MUCH cheaper. My Dad took me here to explore and pick out some stuff and we ran into some pretty crazy crap... like unrefrigerated petrified black quail eggs, lots of spiky weird fruit that smelled like feet and that I had only ever seen on an episode of Jon & Kate plus 8 when Jon takes 2 of the kids to the Korean grocery store and Joel starts smelling the fruit and making funny faces... I'm a frequent h-mart shopper and can't begin to describe my disappointment with this location. I walked in during lunch hour to grab a quick bite to eat and take care of my grocery shopping. There food court is on a MUCH smaller scale than the location I typically go to. They had 4 selections to choose from, of course, I went with sushi. I ordered one roll and one hand roll. It was eh. The roll had good flavor, but the sauce on top killed it for me. I tried to remove t the best I could. With the hand roll, I couldn't handle the smell of the seaweed. I took one bite and thought I was going to be sick. I didn't eat it. Little did I know, it actually made me sick a few hours later. Once lunch was over, it was time to move on to the store. It was very dirty and didn't have the normal produce I typically find at the niles location. To be completely honest, I walked around looking for my items and ended up leaving all together because of the filth. I can't imagine purchasing food products in such an environment. I wish I would have seen the store because I had lunch there. Not planning on returning. read more

It's interesting to note that this location and the Niles location are almost exactly the same distance from my house. Yet the way traffic works, this one feels like it's closer. I'm not sure how or why. I think it might also be faster to get to for me. At any rate, it's a huge Korean grocery store complex that also stocks a few other choice Asian items. Loads of fresh produce (both organic and conventional), a huge selection of fresh mushrooms (seriously impressive, and very well priced), and a fresh food section for all those banchan you may not feel like making yourself, but want to have around for meals. House-made kimchi and various pickles are good, too. There's also a large housewares section for your pickling crocks, stone pots, Korean BBQ pans, and other equipment. Their meat and seafood is some of the nicest you'll find in this area. There are plenty of tanks in the seafood section with live fish (and other seafood) swimming/crawling/ambling around, so you know it's as fresh as it can be. The expert butchers will prepare the fish for you any way you like, as well. Here is where you'll find thinly sliced beef and pork for shabu-shabu, or nice oxtails, or even a beef heart. The supermarket portion is great. The food court portion isn't as good as the one in Niles. Bini Bakery is the anchor, which is good -- can't go wrong with pretty much anything they sell. Their baked goods are sheer delight -- to the eyes, hands, nose, mouth, and stomach. They also sell bubble teas at this location. As for non-baked-goods, there's a Filipino food stall, a Chinese food stall, and a Korean food stall. I've eaten at the Korean one several times and enjoyed everything I've had. You get good food at a great price, and endless cups of free barley tea. Is it the best you'll ever eat? No. But this is one of the only food courts I'd ever feel good about eating in. The parking lot could be repaved a little but it's large and provides ample parking. The store itself is fairly large as a whole but is smaller than their location in Niles. Wide variety of produce, meats and poultry. Most the cashiers here I believe speak Korean as I believe it's Korean-owned. Can't say much on customer service since I've never needed help here, but overall the atmosphere is pretty friendly. I do feel at times they could do a better job of cleaning their floors particularly as a reference towards safety, but the store as a whole is pretty tidy and organized. If you want some fresh produce (most of the time!), give this place a try - especially if you're looking for those meat cuts and spices. Short of Chinatown, this would be the best place to be. read more

Would give a four star rating a year ago but seemed they didn't maintain it too well. I'm a regular here for past 3 years. Where else you could get the live fish and lobsters for $7 or less per pound? But the fresh produce is not as fresh as I would like and as inexpensive as it used to be. What I would buy from here other than live seafood: Korean noodle soup, Korean hot pepper paste, Korean Pancake Mix, spices, and dry noodles etc. I would pass some fresh produce like string beans or lotus roots which looked like they have been there for a long time and ready to be threw away. Last time, I got a box of Fuji apple but 2 of them are rotten at the bottom when I got home. The appliances like rice cooker are at least 40% higher than an online vendor. I am slowly going back to my Chinese grocery store closer to my house for rice and fresh produce as the price is reasonable and the service is much better. I was trying to explain I wanted Citrus Tea in English to a Korean staff in HMart but he had no idea what was that. The customer service was not very nice when I had an issue with the price on one item. I will still go back here but really hope it will get better on the quality of fresh produce and the services. read more

You can find many Asian vegetables, fruits, mushroom, nuts, different kind of rices, instant noodles, kimchi, etc. There is large section of Korean bowls, pots, and kitchen appliances. Also, there is a large produce section filled with fruits and vegetables. There are lots of Asian fruits and vegetables that you would not normally see in a chain grocery store. You can also buy many varieties of rice. There are lots of options for coffee, noodles, spices, drinks, and SO MUCH MORE. They store sells a lot of oriental drinks, snacks, creams, products, etc. The store has a large meat section. The store is also equipped with a seafood section with live lobster, crab, and fish. They sell geoduck, which was a surprise because I never see them in other stores in Illinois. Not only is this just a grocery store, there is a plaza connected to it. The plaza has a full food court and lots is mini stores. There were lots of beauty product vendors. Overall a great experience. read more

H Mart is outstanding. They have a wider selection of Asian foods than Mitsuwa up north. Their fruits and veggie displays are excellent. Their meats are carefully packaged and you can get precut and seasoned for the kinds of Asian dishes you wish to cook. Fresh fish, shrimps and more are on display. You don't have to be Korean, Japanese, or Chinese to love the way H-Mart presents its foods for sale; but, even if you are, H-Mart is the only place to go. The Asian food court inside the store is nice for a lunch time snack. The bakery within the food court has such nice baked goods, too. H Mart is the best Asian grocery store that I have ever seen.
