My wife called a couple of places to get information. Dan, the owner of ADK Pure, returned her call several minutes later, and was the only business that returned her call. I explained to Dan the problem I was having with my old water softener and the actions I'd taken attempting to extend its life. We were in agreement that it had reached the end of its useful life. We were able to schedule a visit for two business days later. Dan arrived on time and assessed the situation. He was personable and provided answers to all my questions. He tested our water to determine its hardness. He explained that he would be able to install a new water softener the following week and could send me a voucher/contract by email. Upon paying 50% of the cost, he would then book the project. The payment over the internet through QuickBooks was efficient and secure. Once again, Dan showed up on time on the day of the installation and completed the job in several hours. He replaced the old shutoff/bypass valves, some of the piping, input the appropriate settings on the control device, and supplied four bags of salt crystals. He cleaned up after himself and took away the old water softener for disposal. It's been a few days now since the installation and everything is working fine. We can notice the improvement in the water quality and there are no leaks. We received a follow up phone call to see how everything was going and Dan said he'd be contacting us in another six months to schedule a visit to make sure everything is working properly.

They were friendly to talk to on the phone, arrived for the estimate and job work on time, and were professional. I was satisfied with their work and the cost for both systems (including discount) seemed reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. EDIT: our icemaker stopped working after the installation and we assumed that they had forgotten to hook it back up to the system. That turned out to be incorrect, and instead there was apparently too much are in the line that took a long time (weeks) to purge out. During this time they came and looked at it again, modified the plumbing to shorten the feed line, and even offered to order and install for free a pressure tank in the basement to correct this. But... after about a month for whatever reason (again, I assume the air in the line is now gone) our icemaker works fine without the extra pressure tank.

The $200 diagnostic charge was steep, but I was not prepared for what was to come. After identifying that I had a faulty flow meter, the technician replaced the part (a plastic housing and impeller no larger than a cell phone) and told me that the office would send the bill after they look up pricing for the part. I almost fell off my chair when I received a $900 (yes, NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS) bill several weeks later. I suppose it was partly my fault for not getting a full quote before authorizing the repair, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be facing a charge of almost $1k to replace a single part. I tried contacting the office via email and phone, but never got anyone besides the customer rep that scheduled the service. Emails went unanswered, phone calls unreturned, and when I contacted corporate the Operations Manager for the area told me he was in NJ and that I needed to contact the local office. Needless to say, whenever this system needs to be replaced I will not be going with Culligan but rather a generic system that can be serviced by any plumber and not require exorbitantly priced proprietary parts. I'm happy with the system and service, but wouldn't recommend unless you have money to burn.

Five stars for Culligan. Why one star? ACQUA FINANCE is the company that financed our $5500 purchase at zero interest. Never was late with a payment in three years. I made the last payment Days ago. Happened to check my bank account today and was stunned to see that Acqua Finance continued to withdraw a payment from my account. Called and they refused to talk to me claiming my wife was the account holder. We spent about two hours of phone time and MAY be getting a refund In 2-3 weeks! Called the bank to block them in the future. Must pay a bank charge of $35 for each block. Avoid ACQUA FINANCE. I asked why something so reasonable as my request for an improper withdrawal was so problematic for them. They said they must follow their process. I mentioned my review was not going to be good when I wrote it. The supervisor said, "we get that all the time. " That alone is frightening.

Kelly indicated that he may not be able to get the filters, and that he thought the web page I ordered from had been removed. I received an email on June 10th, stating I was getting a refund in 3-5 days. I finally had to call back on June 19, as I had not received a refund. Kelly then cussed as me, and blamed me for ordering from a web page that wasn't supposed to me there, then hung up on me. There's a reason this is a mom and pop shop, and based on my experience they won't be in business long.
