Food is good, service is not. My wife ordered a dish that did not mention fish in anyway on the menu. She does not like fish and when she took the first bite all she tasted was fish. She asked for me to try it, i like fish and it tasted overwhelmingly of fish. She took one bite and said she did not want it. When we got the bill we were charged for the dish. When I asked for it to be taken off they refused and told us if we don't like something we should tell them ahead of time. I explained a main ingredient such as fish should be put on the menu, they disagreed and made it seem as if we had done something wrong and told us when ordering we should tell them all the things we don't like. I have never had to explain things I don't like at a restaurant because they may put it in food and not list it on the menu. We will never go back. read more

I've been wanting to try this place, ever since we moved to the Novi/Walled Lake area. I finally was able to talk my boyfriend into going today, and to be honest; I was kind of disappointed. I got the Lo Mein with chicken, a mild plus spice. Unfortunately, it didn't wow me. The texture of the cabbage kind of threw me off. It wasn't as crunchy as I would have preferred. There just wasn't as much taste as I was anticipating. Spicy, to a point, but no distinct flavor. My boyfriend got the drunken noodle with chicken and again, it was mediocre. Although, I will say the sauce was interesting... A good interesting. The service was nice, though! I will give them that! I kind of had higher hopes for this place. My false hope were also swayed by the amount of people in the restaurant when we picked up our food. With that being said, I'm a firm believer in second chances in the food industry. I would give this place a second chance. I want to dine in next time, to see if maybe the food will have more taste FRESH out of the kitchen, rather than driving it home. I called for carryout yesterday and a message told me they would be closed for a few months for medical reasons, hope it is not too long. I did get carryout a few times and I was not disappointed. The Gang Gai is very good, as was the Curry Pad Thai. Have had the Pad Khing and it was loaded with ginger, I really enjoyed it. I thought their Pad Prik was a little on the bland side. The spice level was good. I like it hot, but not too hot, so medium plus was perfect for me. read more

Been wanting to try this lakefront Walled Lake spot. Got Chinese take out from here on a Sunday Night. Friendly and helpful on the phone and about 20 minutes to pick up. After a small mix up with our order which was promptly fixed and received a complimentary appetizer for the trouble. We had a Shrimp dish and a Chicken dish along with egg rolls and sticky rice! The food was packed nicely and was all hot, good, and sauced well... Nothing stood out as great but definitely willing to try again... Would like to try Thai selections! read more

The Chamber of Commerce suggested them, and I'm glad they did. Family run business. Father does the cooking, and will make just about anything however spicy you like it. Excellent service and prices are very reasonable. They are temporarily closed as Father needed surgery. I hope they re-open soon. I would call first. Great egg drop soup with homemade noodles. Family owned small business that is worth your patronage. The family is genuine and works hard honing their craft. I have eaten here a handful of times and haven't found anything I don't like. They are allergy friendly and will make triple sure before telling you if a dish contains something you can't have (upon request of course). Take the time to eat here and you'll understand. Then, you'll be back with more friends to share the experience with. If you can, go at off peak times due to the cozy dining room. Take out is always an option as well. read more

Excellent thai and Chinese food!!! In my opinion it's the best in the area. We get takeout from here a couple of times a month. The masa man curry is delicious as well as the tom kha soup. I crave it whenever I am sick. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is because the seating area isn't the best in the winter. However it is great for takeout. And also a great place to eat outside and look at the lake in the summer when it's nice out. read more

To go order from Haang's Bistro last night. I ordered a Yum Neau (Thai steak salad) that was on their Facebook. What I received was a Thai steak with green and bell peppers. I hate peppers so I took it back. I was told that I should have ordered using Yum Neau and not Thai Steak Salad, but the Facebook stated (thai steak salad). NO, the owner said, that's just the description....Really, I thought the description was (BBQ steak mixed with cucumber, tomatoes, and onions marinated in lime juice, chili and Thai special seasoning), as listed on Facebook. I was told to never come back again, go elsewhere and she threw the money at me. OMG, this was from the owner! My kids order from Haang's all the time but my $ will never be spent at this business again. The food is great but the owner need to learn how to respect their customers. read more

This business has changed hands a few times since I've lived in the area. I noticed it reopened recently. We finally gave this place a try. The menu offers Thai and Chinese. We did take out and placed an order in person. The woman who took the order was very nice! When we wanted to substitute one veggie for another, it was not a problem, and there was no extra charge. They even state on the menu if you can't find what your looking for, just ask. We both ordered Thai dishes. Mine was with brown sauce, my wife ordered a curry dish. Both were excellent!! I had plenty of chicken in my dish, and they didn't skimp on the shrimp for my wife's dish either. Veggies we fresh and flavorful. I'm very excited to have an excellent Thai place walking distance from my house. They have outdoor seating for those nice days (we should have done that) and its right across the street from the beach in Walled Lake. These new owners deserve to make this place work. If your in the area, please give this place a try. They offer a very reasonable lunch menu (around $6.50-$7.50), and even dinner can be done under $10. A SOLID FOUR STAR place!! Try it!! read more

I came here on the recommendation of a friend and two friends of my husband's. It was great! I got the vegetable (red, coconut) curry with tofu and he got the general chicken. What a disappointment! My favorite restaurant has made the decision to charge their customers for using a credit card REGARDLESS of cost. They charge $.89 for your debit card and 4% for Credit Cards. I think it's a terrible decision and let them know I will be going elsewhere. Too bad... read more

There are a lot of mediocre Thai restaurants out there and even more downright terrible Chinese places, fortunately Haang's is neither of those. It's not an uncommon fusion of cuisine, but Haang's does both well. Their Pad Thai Curry (my personal favorite) is excellent and all the other Thai dishes I've had have been very good as well, my one minor disappointment on the Thai side is that they don't do Praram Long Song (chicken with peanut sauce), which is my wife's favorite Thai dish. The Chinese dishes are very good also, but be forewarned that you won't find your typical "meat X with random vegetables in brown sauce." Most of Haang's Chinese dishes are just a little different than what you'll find at other places and are all the better for it. The decor is pretty standard, but the space is cosy and the service is accommodating and friendly. The one low point for me is that I've found the appetizers to be a little uneven. While I recommend the dumplings (which are quite good and big enough to make a meal on their own) and the spring rolls are decent, I've found the Chinese-style egg roll to be bland and tough (it's smaller in diameter than a typical egg roll, closer to a spring roll, which is probably why) and the chicken satay to be bland and dry with a peanut sauce that's lacking in flavor (which is disappointing, as being of Indonesian descent, satay is near and dear to my heart). All-in-all though I can't really complain, since skipping appetizers just leaves more room for their fantastic fried rice. Overall, I definitely recommend Haang's Bistro to satisfy both your Thai and Chinese cravings. read more

Small restaurant across from the beach in downtown Walled Lake. Not much seating and the dining area was pretty warm on a hot night. Food was fresh and tasty and entrees were pretty large for a relatively low price. Dumplings were the size of a regular baked potato. Website says kid friendly but they have no kids menu. Just enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Haang's Bistro. Ordered Pad Thai Curry with chicken (spiced medium) and Pad Ped with Shrimp-also medium (awesome!). Soup to start was also excellent. This is not what I expected when I went out for a meal. I came in to grab some food with a few buddies, we all met outside in the back parking lot and came to dine in. The waitstaff was very rude and impatient. It was almost impossible to get a refill on our drinks. Out of the 3 of us who ate 2 of our meals were cold. The bathroom trashcan was overflowing with paper towles that were spilling over onto the floor. The kicker of the entire thing is when we went to leave, there were 2 tow trucks outside hooking up to cars in the parking lot. One of our cars had already been hooked up to by a driver I guess because they thought we were with some local car show going on. Then My other buddy and I had to chip in to pay the $100 towing fee. I guess having a nice car when there's a car show nearby gets your car towed. Kind of a shady gimmick if you ask me. Michigan law states tow truck drivers have to give you a receipt once you pay them, and that never happened. Sounds to me like there might have been some back door deals going on and the tow truck drivers were just pocketing the cash. I'm not very happy with my over all experience at this establishment. Super good local place, we always come here so I should finally write a review. We've had the spring rolls and egg rolls, but the crab ragoons are the best. All the curry's are delicious, but my favorite dish is the curry pad thai noodles. The Chinese food is also yummy, general and almond chicken (sauce on the side) are amazing, as well as the other noodle dishes. The boba is OK, a little sweet for my taste, at least somewhere around here has it. BUT my favorite part is that when you get medium or hot it's consistent and they don't tone it down (I like spicy). The servers are very friendly. The food is always tasty. Beware the "levels of spiciness" because each chef has his own idea. And if you order MILD and get MEDIUM, they will not remake the dish, you are stuck with it, so be warned. My wife orders her Pad Thai-Chicken with "no-spice" just to be safe. Their Tom Ka Gai soup is really very good. look for coupons, too. BTW, we enjoy eating in the restaurant, even though seating is limited. read more

The Pad Almond tasted like spit water, never again. Very rude staff as well. The parking is the worst!!!

They have great food and in the summer the view of the lake is great. So glad they were able to open back up.
