I was so excited to find a Habit location in Midlothian. Went nearly EVERY weekend throughout most, or maybe all of 2024. Loved it! And the place was friendly too. The man in charge - I think he was the manager - was really welcoming and was great at his job! The location was VERY well run. Skip ahead to sometime mid-2025 till now, and it's a totally different experience... but NOT in a good way. Now all ordering is done by self-service kiosk. (like at McDonald's.) They had introduced those a while ago but there was also a traditional human order taker too. Now you can stare at kitchen staff and NO ONE working there will make eye contact with you. No one will take your order. There is virtually no human contact here anymore. The feeling you got before by the former manager, who made you feel welcomed, is completely gone. It's very sad. The food quality has slipped a little too. And the time it takes to get your order has increased. It is no longer a well run ship. And for that reason, I stopped going in late 2025. I go to Five Guys instead, which still values customer service and has humans welcoming you and taking your order. Please get your act together, Habit. Get a new on-site manager, up your game again, and get rid of the self-service kiosks. Bring back human customer service. If you do, I'll be back. read more

Service was good and interior is extremely clean. Food is extremely mediocre for the price. You got 2 sliders for the price of almost 10 dollars. As soon as you take a bite you understand how mediocre this meal is. The onions want to be caramelized but in reality theyre just burnt. The patty has absolutely no flavor and the meat was tough. Time for an updated review! Came here on a weekday for lunch. Right when you walk in the door the staff greets you and the hospitality continues throughout your visit. From walking me through salad toppings to sharing their favorites, you get first class service here. The barbecue chicken salad is my go to and it is always made fresh and a generous portion. They have a drive thru, as well as indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas. Definitely a go-to for us! read more

When I saw The Habit Burger Grill about to open in sleepy little Richmond I was ecstatic. I'm from Fullerton, CA where they have fourteen locations within a 10 mile radius of 92831. All that means is I know how it's supposed to taste. My first visit was on October 9th, 2019 *before* the global pandemic and it was a complete disaster. Whoever was running this location in late 2019 needed some serious backup. Thankfully something happened and I'm thrilled to say they've worked out ALL the kinks and are running like a well-oiled machine. My photo from 2019 versus 2022 is proof of just how far they've come. The flavors are nothing short of majestic. The signature Santa Barbara Char is utterly fantastic. Their regular char burgers are outstanding. For all my RVA readers, ditch Five Guys and go here! You can get a superior burger, fries, and a coke for $15 not $22. The word isn't out yet so there is never a line. I walk right up to the counter and order my little slice of heaven. This is my first time seeing the Habit on the east coast. I see them everywhere in California!! First and foremost, The customer service was amazing !!!! The young man at the register was well mannered and patient with me as I browsed thru the menu. I ordered the double char and added American cheese and bacon. So delicious !!! I also ordered French fries and chicken bites. Everything was fresh and well flavored. I chose ranch for a dipping sauce w. In terms of friendliness, the team members went above and beyond. I was super impressed with my experience. Ordering a low-carb burger was great because the lettuce made it easy to eat handheld. The only downside was that for the price, the burger patty was quite small. I thought the flavors were great, but I would come back anyway. It's so nice to have options other than French fries. I ordered on the app and today was the first time I ever ordered and I was very excited to try your establishment. I got a message from the app stating that my order was ready when I went to go pick it up. It was not on any of the shelves that Was labeled As online pick up. I proceeded to go to the counter and waited about 10 minutes before anybody acknowledged me, but there were people there and when I asked the general manager, Alex, he told me " DoorDash drivers gotta wait". I explain to him that I am not a DoorDash driver. I am a customer that ordered through the app. He pointed to the pick up shelves and said that my order was there. I told him it wasn't there. He proceeded to tell me well then cancel the order somebody took it. I'm not remaking it. I asked him why he wouldn't it. It wasn't my fault that the order was taken by someone else. He then said "I'm not gonna remake it for you, you piece of sh#%t?!" I proceeded to tell him I don't want to cancel my order. I am very hungry as this is my lunch and I'm on my lunch break. He did not acknowledge me after that. Finally, a team member by the name of Alexxis Came up to me and asked me what did I order? I told her what I ordered and it was sitting right on the counter waiting to be put on the shelf. She gave it to me and he did not even say sorry for the miscommunication or misunderstanding. I and my husband decided to take the 30 minute trip to The Habit Burger Grill after seeing it on Joshua Weismann's YT channel where he compared fast food burger joints. I'd never heard of it because it's a mostly west-coast chain but sounds like it is very popular there. We visited in late afternoon and we were almost the only customers so it was very quiet and peaceful with some good tunes playing. I am picky about restaurant cleanliness and I'm pleased to say this one hit my standards. The only thing I could nitpick was that the ladies toilet paper holder was in need of repair. We got a buzzer to let us know when our meal was ready and we sat in a large booth, but we had only a short wait of under five minutes! The Food: We shared a barbecue bacon char burger, double char burger with cheese, onion rings, and a banana wafer shake. I was tired and hungry as it was around 5 and we hadn't had lunch so when we spread out our yummy looking food, I could NOT wait. I even forgot to take a pic of mine before I took a bite. I am usually a ladylike eater but I DESTROYED my meal! Elbows on the table, sauce on my face, and completely enjoying the food, the company, and the ambiance. Oh! And the food looks like it is pictured in the menu! No false advertising here! The onion rings are breaded not battered and while I prefer battered, these were so crispy and delicious. The cashier offered ranch sauce to go with them. I'd never even thought to try ranch with onion rings and if you haven't either, you should! I loved it! The banana wafer shake had a mild, but real, taste of banana and the Nilla wafers crumbled over it was so nice, like a banana pudding twist. The outstanding part of the shake was oddly the whipped cream topping which tasted and felt marshmallow-y. It was divine....and this is coming from someone who despises sweet, cloying, or artificial flavors. OVERALL: I will be back. I've seen this place compared to Five Guys who I'm very familiar with as I used to be paid to eat there, but I like The Habit more based on this visit. The burger flavor and experience is close but the onion rings, shake, and service are superior here. I just wish there was one closer to me. I went through the drive in line and the guy told me my total for my order. He reported the total and then took the card reader from the window for me to tap my card on it. He didn't hand me a receipt. However, I was charged more than the amount stated. When I questioned them about it, the guy said "Oh you must have accidentally hit tip." I explained there was no way possible I could have done that, I simply touched my card to the reader. He then told me they couldn't refund the difference and said I'd have to fill out paperwork. He said we can offer you a free burger. I said, "no, I'd like the unauthorized amount of money to be refunded!" Then another guy comes to the window and said he could offer a free burger. And again; I said no, I'd like unauthorized amount of money to be refunded. At this point, he hands me a stack of quarters that was worth $3.25, which is more than what the actual tip was. It then occurred to me that these guys are stealing from the company. I filled out a form for someone at customer service to call me back. This is completely unethical practices these men are doing and I think people should know about it. If you go through the line, make sure to check your actual amount you're being charged for and ask for a receipt! Not ok, Habit Burger. I won't be coming back again! read more

This was my first time eating anything from here and it was fantastic. I got a Charburger with cheese of course and fries and drink. Upon arrival at the drive thru the employee was very kind and took my order without me having to repeat myself several times. I had to wait for about 2-3 minutes for my burger which was worth the wait because I like my food fresh. The burger was so perfect. Very juicy and cheesy. They were not stingy with the pickles or lettuce. It has a very light char taste to it which enhanced the flavor. The fries were HOT and CRISPY. I'm obsessed with this place now. I am not a huge burger fan but I'm glad to see more chains we see on the West Coast coming to the Richmond area. My son loves coming here for the double charbuger with cheese and onion rings. I like the Santa Barbara chicken salad and the little ice cream cones. Also, it's refreshing to see a fast food joint with other options like the ahi tuna and vegetarian sandwiches. It's always clean and the staff is very friendly--two qualities that aren't always present in fast food restaurants. In fact, the manager gave my son a coupon for a free burger on Halloween.
