We came on a Saturday morning to have some breakfast. There was plenty of seating and we were asked to find a seat of our choosing. There are a few booths as you enter near the cash registers and towards the back is open seating. It is decorated like a Mexico Hacienda With store Front façade. Our server came around to take our drink orders. They brought us chips, salsa, and a side of chorizo beans. They were so good. I placed an order for a Tampequeña, which includes carne asada, two enchiladas of your choosing of Red or green. I chose Red with chicken. It was covered in bell peppers, onions lettuce on the side. It also came with the rice and beans. It's known to be a pretty big plate and I couldn't finish it, even though I wanted to because it was really good. My Friend ordered carne en su jugo. It surprisingly took longer than expected. It was the last plate to arrive. They may have forgot about it. They brought us flour tortillas which are fairly large. They're OK In my opinion. I recommend this place for an authentic Mexican meal. read more

Let's just say for Sunday late breakfast you're gonna get the full experience. Mariachis were in full force and blaring the music like a full blown quinceanera. The food is solid, the service is about what you'd expect and the vibe is typically Stockton. Have I had a better breakfast experience? For sure but I think this place has a strong following and there are probably some signature dishes I have yet to discover. My go to is the deli next to the restaurant where you can get pints and quarts of your favorite foods like chili Verde, refried beans, and some Mexican rice etc. I'll probably try this place once more as I gather better Intel on their signature dishes. It's like going to Nena's in Stockton where you know the tortillas are phenomenal and you have to find a favorite dish and stick to it. I just wanna be fully transparent while making this review. I have been coming here for 10 years weekly. My kids absolutely adored this place. It was on their top three choices every single time. They recently were purchased and are changing the name to Canela Y Comal. While some of the food tastes the same, All of the salsa are different. And for my eight-year-old that is a big deal for him. Not sure if they will be in my running top three moving forward unless they decide to go back to some of the original traditional recipes. The food always hits the spot! You can expect a homey, well-made dish! My favorite dishes are: the Tampiqueña, flautas, red chicken enchiladas, chilaquiles verde, and all their caldos (various soups). Make sure you order your café de olla - it's a must! Service can be a hit or miss, but as long as you're aware to lower the service expectations, then you should have a good visit. This is a pretty good Mexican restaurant that offers a pretty large variety of menu items. I specifically like the birra tacos. It has a interesting ambiance that kind of feels like a jungle and a backyard barbecue. But the core is a little bit old. But that's okay. That's what gives the restaurant character. The food is really good. Has a lot of flavor. I think they might have thousand lb bags of salt in the back because that's how good the food is. I've tried the fajitas, burritos, tacos and enchiladas so far since I've been to this place a few times and I would recommend this place if you want good Mexican food in the city of Stockton. The service is always on top of it and fast. The last time I went there I swear we got our food in 5 minutes and it's not as if the place was empty. The service is absolutely terrible here. First of all, no one greeted us when we walked in, second my daughters plate took the longest to come out since the server had forgot to write it down. After, I told her multiple times what I wanted off the kids menu she still did not write it down in her little book. Third, no one ever came to check in on us for any refills on our coffee or to update us on my kids plate. When I asked how much longer it would be for my daughters plate the lady rolled her eyes. Super rude and unkind. Lastly, upon paying I noticed they overcharged me for a plate I never ordered and an extra drink. When I corrected her she seemed irritated about giving me my refund. If you follow my yelp reviews, you know I only post if it's extremely good or extremely bad there's not enough stars in here to show how good it was. First of all, the ambience is very nice, very traditional Mexican. It's in the corner of Waterloo kind of hard to get to the entrance but once you're inside, it's great. Now let's get to the meat and potatoes or the beans and tortillas of the food. I had Huevos divorciados which I guess interpreted is divorced eggs? now I understand, one has red sauce one has green sauce. Get it? Divorced? Anyways, my daughter had the chili Verde, oh and the tortillas are delicious like I said in the post the size of man hole covers. The service, the minute you walk in they pour your coffee, water whatever you need and they're very attentive. I can't say enough about the food. I was there on Saturday but let me tell you Wow. First off, I want to say the service was good, I been here before but I never see this new guy he was great, he greeted us at the entrance well manner, he dressed professional. He found us a table provide us with a menu took a drink order and he also check on us often and he make sure we were provided everything we asked for. Impeccable Service. I've been to quite a few Mexican spots around town and this is by the far the best one. I've been blown away by the way we were made feel like royalty it was amazing even though the food took to long I feel that if it wasn't for this guy checking on us and been honest an apology's for the delay we would had walked out BUT he was great. An to the manager you made a grate choose on hiring this guy he definitely need a raise and the other employees should learn from him. There were many staff members ignoring us when we entered. We were seated and promptly given homemade chips and salsa and our beverage orders were taken. I noted they have nopales listed as an add-on item so i asked if it was possible to get a nopales taco since i do not eat meat. They said no problem. I could have ordered a salad but they definitely acted like this was going to be fine. So we eat all of our chips and salsa and drink all our drinks and nobody comes to offer refills or bring our food. There was a party going on but there was definitely a lot of staff and other tables were receiving plenty of attention. So a good thirty minutes after we order a lady comes over (possibly the cook, not our server) to bring my dining partners food and to ask me what i ordered because they didn't understand. I would think that if they didn't understand the order they would have asked our server or asked us when the order got to the kitchen, not after making the other meal for my table. We had went a few weeks ago to a baby shower at this specific location. The food was good so we thought we'd give it another try. We were not disappointed both the husband and I ordered a three item combination. There was so much food and it was so good. Our waiter was amazing. If I had to have a downside, it was that it took a little longer than we would like to order and to receive our food. But with that being said, the food was most definitely worth the wait. Young server in pink sweatshirt just cleaned menus and let the phone ring like she couldn't be bothered while the older woman serving was solely handling all the tables and phone calls by herself. Hacienda Sahuayo is hands down my favorite authentic Mexican food. Yolis holds the place together like glue. She is the best server in the whole entire place. She's extremely humble and nice (if you are lucky enough to have her serve you). If you go on Saturday or Sunday morning expect a wait for food. The place is probably bigger than the kitchen can handle, but the food will come, and it will be delicious. Be patient. Chile Verde and Chile Colorado is the best in town. My kids demolish two baskets of home made chips every time. The salsa and bean dip is a perfect appetizer before your meal. Mariachi's on Sundays is a nice touch, so expect it to be loud. If you come during the week (they are closed on Wednesdays) they usually aren't as busy and the food will come in a timely manner. Enjoy this little gem. read more

Service is horrible. If you want to have lunch make sure you are there around 9 am because that's how long your food will take. The food however was delicious and I absolutely loved it! If I ever go back it will be to go for sure. Homemade flour and corn tortillas! Refried beans are very good. Salsa has too much cilantro. Today my hard shell taco was broken when it arrived. The chicken was a grilled chicken breast chicken breast but no flavor. Stars are for the homemade tortillas and beans. My hubby loves it here he often orders the torta cubana and loves it! It was a party of 16 of us. We waited a 30 min to be seated. The menus came fast but to take the order, we waited about 45 min. Two members of of our party were not asked what they were ordering. another 45 to an hr. later the food was arriving with the exception of 3 people in our party. One of them did not get any food. except the chips and salsa, Salsa was no good. The couple that their order was not taken and another sitting across from me. The food did not looked too bad but sad to say, the beans, the rice were all bland. My Chile relleno was not cook. It was raw and they just dipped it in egg butter. it was terrible. If they had ran out Chile relleno, it would have been better to say so. Over all, bad service, bad food. read more
