For my birthday yesterday, my husband suggested we try Hacienda San Rafael (not sure why it's just called Hacienda on Yelp). We had a commitment for the evening, so we went for "Linner," between lunch and dinner time. It was a quiet time, which worked out well for us, as we received plenty of attention from Guillermo, who I believe is the owner. We were there during a time when we could order off the brunch, lunch, or entree menu. Lots of choices! My husband ordered the flautas with beef (they have chicken listed on the menu, but since everything is from scratch, they were able to adjust). He declared them delicious. He said they were nice and crispy, and he loved the sauce! I knew before I arrived that I wanted Mole enchiladas. They have four different kinds of enchiladas with a choice of fillings: chicken, pork, beef, or cheese. I chose pork. These enchiladas were served with the mole on top, a very pretty presentation. He told us that the mole recipe came from his mother! And, they were delicious. Both meals came with a nice little dinner salad. And, because it was my birthday, Guillermo gave me dessert. I had flan, which is served on top of a sauce. I think he said it was passion fruit. Complex flavors from start to finish! The flan had a delicious coconut flavor. Both my husband and I savored it. There are so many items on their menu that I want to try, to see their own creative twist. They blend different Latin American flavors, so it's a Latin fusion menu. Can't wait to go back! read more

I went here with two other people and so we tried about 6 different options and all were quite good. The flavors and execution were there and the service was okay the only thing keeping this from a 5 star is that the portions were quite small for the price but maybe that's a good thing because it makes you want to come back and try them again. read more

Fernanda, was friendly and very informative on the menu. We started with the empandas ground beef, chicken and corn with cheese a ramakin with chimichuri, very distinct flavor with aji pepper. They were all fantastic. The dough was very crispy but soft and delicious, as was the fillings. I had the enchiladas de suiza, recommended by Fernanda. The ground beef enchilada had diced carrots and potatoes. Yummm! The chicken one was so moist and tender, the creamy sauce was full of flavor with chilies, cilantro, tomatillo, can't forget the Swiss cheese. On a bed of Spanish rice and beans. What a fantastic flavor. The dining area seemed like a farm house. I had a michilada with Modelo. Patty had two tacos, Rajas with corn and cheese, trompo de perco complex flavor palette, delicious according to Patty. I didn't get a bite. See the picture. Stupendous! This new little place is charming and delicious. Everything we tried was so well made and tasty! We had tostones to start and they were so flavorful, I inhaled mine! We shared ribeye and sweet potato tacos and an mole/suiza enchilada plate. All were amazing, I liked the sweet potato tacos best. We were stuffed so we took most of the enchilada home and had flan for dessert, which was just the right texture. Visited Hacienda for the first time today with a group of food savy friends. The service was spot on, and the chef's discriptions and recommendations were spot on. Excellent Mexican and South American dishes. Menu offered enough choices, real choices to satisfy the pickiest palate. All the Beef was especially good. So glad we stopped in yesterday. Christmas Eve day the place we thought we were going to was closed so we took a chance here and it worked out so well. We just wanted a small lunch so we ordered lightly. I had a carne asada taco and a beef pupusa and my husband had the ribeye taco and a carnitas arepa. All of that was so special. Tasty bits of flavor and tender masa made for a special lunch. With that in mind my husband just had to order the Flan. Very happy that he did. He has been searching for a flan as good as one in North Denver for over 30 years. Yesterday he found it here. We don't live in Longmont but will stop there whenever we can. My friend and I were tired and hungry after shopping. At 7:30 we pulled in to the new restaurant, Hacienda San Raphael. So happy we did! We were greeted at the door by the owner, Guillermo and his invited in to the quirky and lovely space with mismatched tables and dishes. The food and service are the real stars. We ordered a rib eye taco to died for. Melt in your mouth! And a causas de pollo (crispy flavorful mashed potatoes with chicken on top) so yummy. Just enough spice. We also shared plantain empanadas for dessert. Jose was our server. What a wonderful young man. The chef, Raphael, came out to check on us. Fab service and great food! No updates, no apologies, no water refills, no chips or salsa to hold us over -- just silence while multiple tables around us got up and walked out. We stayed hopeful, but that was a mistake. When I finally asked for our food to-go (because we couldn't wait any longer), what I received was completely inedible. I threw it straight in the trash. That's how bad it was. Bland, overpriced, and honestly felt like a slap in the face after the wait and the lack of service. No compensation. No ownership. No care. Terrible food, worse service, and zero effort to make things right. Unfortunate is putting it mildly. I won't be back. Leaving 2 stars because things can always be worst. read more

I wish I had taken photos of the dishes the night I went. This place is exceptional. I went here with my parents a few weeks ago. The proprieter was charming as he told us about the mix of Argentine, Cuban, and South American dishes that they serve, along with the carnitas that they prepare daily. We had an appetizer with plaintains and carnitas that was so good. I tried three of the empanadas. Each one was delicious. My husband is vegetarian and found many choices on the menu, including two different tacos, empanadas, and several other items. My dad tried the enchiladas and the enchilada sauce was pretty special. Presentation and atmosphere were also really great. I can't wait to go back. I expect this place to be difficult to get into soon. Go now while it's still easy to get into. read more
