For the foreseeable future, they are closed from 3-5PM to replenish and restock due to their recent social media fame! We got here at almost 4 and Peter came out to chat with us about their 3-5PM break. Apparently they have been around for about a year but recent viral social media posts got them a lot more attention. We decided to wait in the car as we were wanting to try their baked potatoes. The Balboa was out of stock when we got there, thankfully that wasn't something we wanted but I remember seeing in the social posts as a recommendation. I decided to go with lobster "Nantucket" and the hubby went with the "Big Bear". We each got a side, mac and cheese for me and pork green chili for him. The restaurant was clean, the service was amazing. The food oh so tasty, who knew 1lb of russet could be so creamy. The Nantucket comes w 4 oz of lobster meat and the big bear was filled with brisket and bacon. Definitely understand the hype but then again, I don't know anyone who doesn't like a good old baked potato. 3.5 stars. The Mac and cheese is a must get! The big bear brisket potato was good but ate through the toppings pretty quick and left with a lot of plain baked potato afterwards. I'd probably order a side of butter or sour cream next time for the rest! The soda machine was out of all options except 3 so that was unfortunate as well. read more

Wow! Heard about this place on IG. My daughter, SIL, and I went today - along with EVERYONE else! I was the 2nd person to enter when they opened. My party wasn't their yet, so I bought a Pepsi. When I turned around, there was a line out the door!!! And then the wait began. Apparently everyone saw something on social media and showed up! Ok. Good location. Very creative menu. Took my dad here for his birthday. He loves baked potatoes, so this was a special treat for him. First time for all of us here. The place is small and has decent amount of seating. They also do have patio seating. Natalie provided excellent service and kindness. She helped us on how to order and their menu. My dad got the lobster baked potato and loaded it. I also got the lobster potato, but stuck to more on the plain side. My mom got the pulled pork and loaded her potato too. We all got the combo meal and all got Mac n cheese sides. FYI, the baked potatoes are pretty hearty. Their lemonades are delicious. The baked potatoes were very hot, soft, and fresh. Mac n cheese was good. Everything tasted so savory. The cookies were a perfect little touch of subtle lemon and sweetness. We all loved the place and look forward to coming back and trying other potatoes. This place is never open when the website says they are. You can not order on line or a delivery service even on the days it is actually staffed. I'm not sure how they stay open. This is a franchise and I'm pretty sure their operational policies are not standard. I get it's a family business but if you treat it like a real business and hire not family then you could be making money on vacation not just spending it. read more

Arrived at big bear potato, nice small establishment very clean and nice little decor. Went with my grandchildren and my son and we each ordered our potatoes. My grandson and my son ordered the Lobster Maine my older grandson or the Ralphie and I ordered the great divide. My son also ordered the big bear to go. Man, the potatoes were big, but the ingredients that was on top of each one was awesome. It was very fulfilling. I could only eat one, but you also got a side order of macaroni and cheese, which was really good. So I would recommend going there. It might be a long drive, but it's worth it. If we get a chance, I know we'll go back. Hopefully they'll get other locations closer into town because we came from Aurora. and I can't forget the owner came to the table held conversation. What an unusual concept. I read an article in The N. Y. Times about jacket potatoes commonly served in England for lunch, stuffed with various fillings. I happened to be in Longmont Colorado and heard there was a potato restaurant there- Big Bear Baked Potato. Reading the reviews on Yelp, it went from many 5 stars and many 1 star. The low ratings were because they often run out of potatoes! How can they allow that to happen? Potatoes have a long shelf life & don't need to be refrigerated. So out of curiosity we phoned in an order and when we got there they said they had run out of potatoes! But since we had called in the order ours were already prepared and waiting for us. The potatoes were beyond delicious! Huge and each one was enough for 2 meals. Stock enough potatoes and open up more locations. A few friends have ranted and raved about this amazing new restaurant in Longmont so we made the drive up from the Springs. IT WAS WORTH THE LONG DRIVE! The moment you walk inside you're greeted with a cheery holiday atmosphere and mouth watering aroma of food. EVERY single item ordered in my party was scrumptious and filling. The Great Divide had easily the best pork green chile I have ever had and that's out of Hundreds. The portions are perfect just enough to fill you up and still leave a snack as a left over. The service was great. Very thorough explanations to any questions we had about the menu. The sides were all great too but the baked cookies were French Bakery level of taste and quality. I can't wait to come back and try even more items on their menu. The place was very clean and you could tell all of the ingredients were fresh and the potato was cooked to serve. Now, I hate to call out small businesses... but today I have to complain, publicly. First world problems, I know. I drove an hour up to to Big Bear Baked Potatoes in Longmont. We came at lunch time, 1230ish. The place was packed (so it must be good.) Waited 25 minutes in line to be told they're out of Potatoes. Really? They said they'd have more in an hour.
