We have been customers at their Goffstown NH location since they bought out Putnam Fuel, it's been over 25 years we have used that company. Fast forward to today when they refused us when I called to schedule a maintenance appointment. What kind of company after 20 plus years being a loyal customer says they will no longer provide service to my boiler because I don't buy oil from them. Stupid move Haffner's. The customer service rep said they have had this policy for over 3 years, funny you guys had no problem servicing our boiler those 3 years till today. Called Haffners in Templeton MA. For a routine service call to clean my burner. Guy came and left. That night I started smelling a strong oil smell it was late so I went to bed. Woke up to no heat in the house and a text from my tenant saying there's a strong oil smell in hallway. So I go down stairs to basement and I hit the reset button and the burner starts up but a lot of smoke is coming out of burner so I know something is seriously wrong. I call Haffners and tell them I woke up to no heat and the house reeks of oil. Also my tenant tells me the outside chimney has dark brown smoke coming out of it. So the girl on the phone tells me there gonna have to charge me to come back out. So I'm thinking I didn't have any of these issues before haffners serviced my burner. So I thought maybe the oil smell will burn off and I can avoid another bill. (Repritable oil company's don't charge customers for a call back meaning something wasn't down currently for my burner to be serviced and me end up with a burner I can't keep running and a really strong oil smell) so I waited a whole night hoping my burner would burn off the strong oil smell and maybe I can get my burner to stay running with the reset button but NOPE. Next day I called service and spoke with Keith about the issue but instead I got attitude and no thinking about what's going on or what's wrong that I don't have a burner that will stay running so I googled "Why would I smell a strong oil smell after a service cleaning and this describes my situation exactly ​A heavy oil smell combined with dark brown or black chimney smoke indicates incomplete combustion, where the heating oil is not burning completely. This is likely caused by a clogged nozzle, dirty filter, poor airflow, or an improperly adjusted burner, causing excessive soot buildup and producing harmful carbon monoxide. It's negative 2 outside and I'm on my 2nd service call saying my burning won't stay on. The guy that came out from a 4am service call from me was absolutely amazing and professional explain everything to me and fixed the issue with now no worry of my burner shutting down. GRANTED MY BURNER IS FULL OF SOOT FROM HAVING A BURNING THAT WASNT PROPERLY SERVICED TWICE MIND YOU. Haffners has the audacity to bill me with everything there put me thru from sending a service guy that clearly didn't have knowledge or how to properly adjust the burner so the oil would burn properly and not leave me with a burner full of soot and a strong oil smell. I feel like if that 4am service guy came out to service my burner I'm 1000% sure there wouldn't have been a call back and I wouldn't have had all the emotional distress of worrying I wasn't gonna be able to heat my house and my pipes might freeze because of the extreme cold temps and on top of that dealing with Haffners that clearly don't care about there customers and how there left and more worried about getting that money. The service guy that first came and serviced my burner also decided with letting me know he changed my fuel pipe and charged me an additional $300 without letting me know. Car wash I HAD a monthly wash subscription. For 2 years I kept telling them the right side brushes were closer than the left and it would fold in or out my van mirror. They said they would report it but nothing. Then I went through the other day, when I went to wipe my glass and mirrors, I was missing my right mirror completely. THIS IS A VAN WITH BIG HEAVY DUTY MOUNT MIRRORS. It broke the thick mount completely off. It's not a flimsy car mirror. So I put in a claim when the attendant saw it. The manager said to also BUT because Haffner's was sold to what I heard was a big corporation they said the warning says not responsible for mirrors etc. THE OLD COMPANY WOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THAT. THIS BEING SAID, I HAVE GOTTEN RID OF HAFFNER'S AS MY OIL FILL anymore. AND STOPPED MY SUBSCRIPTION FOR WASHES OBVIOUSLY. I can't bring my van through a car wash anymore because the mirror is taped on till I can save 250 to have a used one put on. Now I have been telling all my contractor friends and there are now 13 contractors, 8 with vans and 5 with pick ups going to other car washes including 3 monthly customers. BEWARE! read more

I have been using Haffner's as my oil provider for quite a few years and have not had one single issue! They have always been prompt with their deliveries and are very good about getting to me as soon as they can when I have run out (not on auto delivery...just my own personal preference). They lost yet another customer with bad customer service - Haffner's bought the local Plaistow supplier Victory Fuel more than a few years back and their prices seemed okay...but since then the prices were erratic year round, the office girls are not at all courteous and suddenly refused to deliver our fall fill up this year unless they could come into my house for tank inspection first? They were my exclusive supplier for 5+ yrs, not sure what this intrusive demand is about and was told it's just their policy? No thanks, there are too many other decent suppliers for home heating oil in town, I'll gladly spend my several hundred dollars elsewhere this season and I'll stop by their gasoline as well read more

My elderly parents are on automatic delivery and ran out of oil while my mother was alone for a few days. She can't use the stairs to get to the basement where the oil tank and furnace are located. I called the answering service. She took my the needed info and never called back or dispatched a technician or delivery. I called again later in the morning when I never heard from them. And there was nothing on record that my folks needed help asap. It's currently forty one degrees out! And my folks are on a monthly budget plan to boot! I have been a Haffners customer for 5 years. They recently filled my propane tanks (which they own) and after the deliver was completed there was a strong propane odor in my basement. I called to report it as advised in their safety guide - they came out to check and few days later $129 service call fee. I've had haffners at my house this week twice. 2 different techs.$ 300.00 later problem still going on. Now they say I have to setup a estimator to give a me a estimate to change out my hot water heater. Why didnt they diagnose the problem before replacing the water feed, expansion tank, and relief valve twice on my oil furnace.. a simple couple steps can isolate the issue like these turn off the feed and return from the boiler to the tank and the feed and hot water out to the house drain the pressure in the storage tank and you have no problem with the boiler it definitely is in the storage tank. Why wasnt this done from the beginning? The FIRST service call? To isolate out the "parts being replaced" I was taken adavantge of. Be careful. We've been pretty disappointed since our former family-run fuel provider was bought out by Haffner's. We received NO information about changes to service or procedures or fees upon the switch. They hit us with a new annual "maintenance fee" of $125 for the tank. What's worse, is our former company always told us to wait to call until our tank was down to 20 percent. On Friday I called Haffner's to order, and was told they only come to our area once a week (on fridays) but that if they delivered that day I would have to pay a $100 "same day charge" even though they never advised us of any change in ordering/delivery procedure and were likely driving RIGHT PAST our house anyway. I asked if they would waive the fee this one time since they never informed us about changes, and they refused. So now we are praying we don't run out before next Friday. The ONLY reason I'm giving them two stars instead of one is because I feel badly for the lovely woman I spoke with at the local office who had no authority to help. Entirely unimpressed with their business practices so far and will be looking to change to a new provider. read more

Auto delivery set up earlier in the year, called at 30% 11-27-2020 to make sure there was no issues. Told I would be delivered first week of December. called today @7:30am on12-14-20 no propane, no call to inform me that the lifeline was severed. This is not Haffner's any more, there is no care or concern. it is now 3:30 pm and no response. If they manage to solve my fuel problem before 7:30 am 12-15 I will give them the nod for this terrible service and increase the abysmal rating they have. Worst customer service ever!!! God forbid you ask to speak to a manager, they are never available. Do not sign up for a budget plan! The will over estimate your usage. I understand that the credit is applied to the next years budget plan, but when they screw up and over estimate, you are left with a several hundred dollar credit that they are gaining interest on! When I complained about the usage estimate, I was told the person who did it last year is no long with the company. I wonder how many others were screwed up by this person. I ordered oil on a Sunday for emergency service. The driver showed up and came to my door and advised me I should have shoveled him a path. No one has ever advised me of this or had a problem delivering oil in the past when there was snow to walk through. I apologized to the driver and he advised me that he would try to make the 150ft walk through the snow with the hose but if he slipped he would go home. He walked back to his truck, moved it to the area where they always park and didn't get out of his truck to even attempt to walk to the side of the house with the hose. He instead called the office to tell them that he wouldn't be delivering and they called me. The driver was very unprofessional and rude. I understand that it's a Sunday and maybe he's grouchy that he got called out, but I'm sure he also understands that if I'm calling on a Sunday and I'm paying an emergency fee that I'm probably out of oil and can't heat my house. The two people I dealt with were very unprofessional and rude. I have this all on camera and will be sending to the corporate office as well as changing companies. read more

This is a review of the Corperate offices of Haffner's... I used them for one season for heating oil.... I will NEVER do business with them again, First they can't get delivery addresses correct. Second they can't get mailing addresses correct. Third they never left a statement on how much oil was dropped. Fourth, I asked for furnace repair and it took them two months to get back to me. I have been fighting with them for 7 months. And I still have not seen a bill or a statement on how much was dropped. I must talk with them monthly and they still can not get it right! They may be able to pump fuel into your car. DON'T let them pump fuel into your home! read more

We bought our house last January and they said they had to inspect it b4 a oil delivery. OK, NO PROBLEM. It passes they deliver and deliver and deliver. They OVERFILLED the tank and it leaked on my basement floor. I called and they were all apologetic. Service guy came out about 4 hrs after I called. He fixed the problem I think. He wasnt even gooing to clean up the oil till I said something. Then..... he charged me for the clean up. WTH??? They made the mess. Needless to say, all set with this co. I have had Haffner's for over 50 years. They have always serviced my furnace. This year they cleaned my 13yearold oil furnace and later on it would make a terrible noise when it started. I would worry every time it started. Since I did not get a contract this year from Haffner's I called another company. They took a video and a month after the Haffner cleaning it was dirty. But biggest problems were furnace was set at the wrong setting and the wrong nozzle was inserted. The new company changed the nozzle to the correct one reset the settings to conform to what the manufacturer advised and cleaned the furnace again. No more noise. Bye bye Haffner's read more

On top of that when you call customer service you can NEVER get the same answer twice. If you need to heat your house, break up your furniture and burn it. I just ordered oil, tank is bone dry and about to run out. Very cold weekend coming up, and they won't put in 100 gallons. They couldn't hear the whistle. I have children and they are going to freeze this weekend and they didn't care. My tank is 350 gallons and they won't put in 100 until I get it fixed. On a tight budget and they wanted 125.00 just for the tech to come out and look at it, this doesn't include parts. I've been getting oil from them since 2002, can't believe they are going to let me run out of oil. Also they took the check I left for them and hit it right away, 259.90 and all they gave me was 10 gallons. I just called my bank and put a hold on it and that cost me 30.00 dollars. Hired them to replace a 40 year old oil tank. Much faster appointment than another company I called. Came right out next day to give estimate. Excellent scheduling of actual replacement. These guys worked their butts off and coordinated everything with old tank removal and replacement and were done exactly on time. Had it inspected as Haffner's had to get a permit with the town. Inspector said they did a great job. I am very happy. Price was reasonable. read more

Gas stations and car wash district manager is really rude. If you use the car wash and something breaks there answer will be there's a sign that says enter at your own risk we are not responsible. Really if your machines breaks on my car that I paid a little over 50 thousand you going to tell me at your own risk. This company use to be about customers now it's all about making the most money. My co workers, friends and family use cumberland farms amazing customer service and the respect there management has for customers is amazing. Most staff are amazing they very respectful at haffners but management aren't. I've used Haffner's for heating oil delivery the past two years. I am happy with their service. Their online order form is a bit archaic, but when I needed a copy of past bills and fills, a complete order history was sent to me within a few days. I like that you always get the next day (or same day if early) service and you don't have to be home. I wish you could use a credit or debit card, I think it's the only thing I use use a written check for, even the mortgage is auto-deduct or bill pay from the bank. The customer service is nice when I had to call to reschedule one day. Their prices seem to be the best I've found in the area. I am not on any of their plans; I just order oil as/when I need it. I will continue to use them unless I find another company with more competitive rates. read more

I do not leave negative reviews. This will be the first. Haffner's let me run out about 10 years ago with a paid pre-buy contract and I have not been back. I have since been with small town, local and fantastic Victory fuel and I do not think I ever got below 1/2 tank. They were great. I always either pre-bought and if not I had a credit card on file. A few months ago I realized that Half-in-the-wrapper took over, and service issues began. How difficult can it be to keep an oil talk full?? First thing I did is call in a credit card advance payment (not a card on file) so there would be no excuses. Fat chance. I called two weeks ago to alert them that I had less than 1/4 tank and I wanted a fill. The office person said I was on the schedule for next week Tues-Wed. That week came and went. I called Friday to insist on a delivery, (they have my $$) I was told I was on the schedule for that day. Another no show on a zero degree day. Yesterday I was running an errand and calling around to see if another oil company might have a truck in my area and can drop off 25 gallons or so and I saw a half-in-the-wrapper" truck about a mile from my house so I was relieved. another no show. We are on fumes and using electric heaters for all but one zone where the pipes will freeze. I am going to buy 10 gallons of diesel today at the pump and notify the attorney general on Monday of Haffner's misuse of consumer funds. read more

I would not recommend ever! Their costumer service is the worst I have ever dealt with and they're rude. I actually was hung up on by one of the owners. They cancel appointments and seem to only work when they want to. Also they gave me a hard time when they had no electric lift to use. Do contractors not use ladders anymore??!! It's called labor. After I got my furnace replaced from another company that was less expensive, would not deliver oil because they said I had to have a permit. We have been haffners customers for heating oil for over 5 years. Today, we needed our tank serviced due to smelling the oil. The tech came out and said 1. We needed a new tank 2. The line from the tank to furnace need to be replaced and then shut down everything so we would no longer have a leak. We decided to get a second opinion...all we needed was a new cylinder that holds the filter...seriously the tech could not fix that so it would not leak! Yes, down the road we need a new line from tank to furnace but no hurry...my understanding is that these technicians work on commission and will try to sell you everything! I will never get oil from them again! They will not get another dime from me! Buyer beware!!! read more

Terrible customer service. They don't care about you or your family. You're just a number and a check to them. I have been a customer of them for four years, but now I'm done. Already just signed with another company. Ordered oil on a Tuesday morning. Next day delivery guaranteed--ya right!? Still had no oil by Wednesday evening. Called them, as I have two small children and a storm was coming. Still no delivery Thursday and they delivered to people who ordered AFTER us. Literally in the same neighborhood. Finally ran out of oil. Continued to call them and explain my concern as my baby is only nine weeks old and temps were to go below zero that night. Finally delivered on Friday night after multiple calls, and when we got angry with them they threatened to terminate our account. No problem, Haffner--we are done with you anyway. Okay so I'm going to give the good news first. Their prices are very competitive. It took an act of Congress to get my service switched from the previous provider, Roy Bros. I was plagued with an underground tank (not by my own choice) & I was robbed from the advantage of shopping for competitive pricing. The gentleman who helped me sign on was a great advocate & Haffner's pricing was over $1/gal cheaper. No brainer right? Now for the bad side. Office staff often don't feel very helpful. I became disabled in 2013. Anyone who has ever had to go on SSDI knows you have a 5 month waiting period with zero income. Regrettably this set me up to get very behind on my bill but I paid in full as soon as I was able. So they place me on a prepay plan. No cash, no delivery. I understood. I went without propane when it was freezing outside. Yes you read that right. They had no issue allowing a disabled person & their son go on ice. Fast forward nearly 4 years later. I have my usage established but no balanced payment plan available. Ok so I ask for a review & what's that? Crickets. Customer service from the gals isn't their strong suit. Nor is being advised of their route schedule - so if you run out of fuel - too bad. read more

The company employees are all rude and arrogant, None have last names or supervisors, none will listen to you. They are trying to extort money from me to pay for propane they say was in the tank when I moved in a rental. They say this money was refunded to the previously court ordered evicted tenants. No documentation of verification is shown. No agreement to pay for such balance is shown. They threaten to report to credit bureau and collection agency if not paid. Save yourself such problems and go to reputable companies. I switched to a major company and now receive propane in a dependable manner at 14 cents less per gallon I may be wating time by writing this review as they don't care what anyone writes but hopefully it will save someone the frustration I have had to endure from these rejects. read more

Terrible. I ordered oil using the online form and I received an email from Haffner's saying there was a failure to deliver the email and also a confirmation of the order. Which is it? So I left my check taped to the front door and let my husband know to expect a delivery and they would be inspecting the oil tank. My husband said I heard someone come, take the check and leave without doing any delivery. I called the company first they said they didn't have the order and then they said we do but haven't put it in so it wasn't our people that took the check. I had to call and stop payment on the check which cost me $30. I cancelled the order. Never again. read more

I do not write very many good reviews but I recently switched propane companies to Haffner's because there price was so much lower than what I was paying. Unfortunately I have a buried propane tank which was owned by the other company. So to switch companies Haffner's had to come out and dig up the other company's tank and install their own. Rene, Peter, Tom and Mike were all very good. I had issues trying to switch previously and they made it happen with minimal inconvenience. They even had to come out a second time because of my town inspector not being available (not their fault at all). I would highly recommend them. I was pleasantly surprised what I thought was going to be a pain in the *** was quite painless thanks to them. read more
