Plenty of beers on tap with a full kitchen. Great way to have lunch after playing a round of golf or practicing at the driving range.

Shrimp fettuccine! Lots of shrimp, delicious!

I had been waiting at Mel Rapton for my car to be serviced so I was taken next door to the cafe at Haggin Oaks for lunch. I was served shrimp fettuccine. There were lots of seafood options and since it's Friday during lent, I was very pleased. It was $10 and it was delightful. Generous portion of shrimp, pesto with asparagus. Add a portion of garlic toast and I was very pleased.

Two eggs with potatoes and toast for 5.50.

I've only had breakfast here, but each time the food has been decent and the prices tolerable. There is absolutely no reason to go out of your way to come here, but there's also no reason not to stop here for some food if you are out on the course or the terrific driving range.

Had a philly cheese steak here last Saturday. Comfortable environment, excellent service and delicious food. No complaints.

Imagine my glee when I saw all their fabulous food in Instagram. Sadly, their current hours mean I can only visit Friday nights and weekend mornings. Never the less, we got there as soon as they opened on a Saturday morning to a quiet restaurant. We could leisurely place our orders without the stress of a line of hungry people behind us. Since we were 3 very hungry folks, we ordered several dishes to give us a taste of their food. We got the Kai Gata which is a breakfast dish with eggs and Chinese sausage served with a fresh baguette. We also got the Kopitam Breakfast set which includes soft boiled eggs, crispy toast, sweet roti with condensed milk and black coffee. While we were skeptical of this combination, it was a pleasant surprise. We also got roti with curry, coffee ribs, and a Gado Gado salad which came with a peanut dressing and crispy shrimp chips. Every item was delectable and scrumptious. Unfortunately they were out of the pandan cold brew which we were curious to try. I guess that's a good enough excuse to come back again, not just for the drinks but the other items we didn't get to try. The decor is funky featuring brightly colored walls with geometric patterns. It reminded me of 1960's Mod Squad. It's not a large place but there is outdoor seating available too. Come early because within 30 minutes of opening the cafe filled up quickly. We could only find street parking which wasn't so bad because we got there early.

On the weekends, their hours are limited so come before they close at 2p! Freaking love the service here. Owned by a family who are Thai, the owners really give off the mom and pop shop energy in the best way. They're so nice, attentive, friendly, and GENUINE. They're the type of people who will remember you! It's one of the things that can make Sacramento feel like a community, not just a city. Ok, ok, onto the food and drinks! It's my goal to try everything here that's not chicken. (I personally avoid chicken for personal reasons lol.) Their Thai coffee is so good. Reminds me of Thai tea and I like it without an extra shot of espresso for it to be on the sweeter side. Their Moo Ping (pork skewers) were decent and their tamarind with rice powder dip is classic and so easy to finish. Their burger is a classic cheeseburger paired alongside Thai Lays potato chips. It's a staple for me, I've had it twice and WILL be ordering it again when I'm in a burger mood. Their chili oil?!?! I NEED A GALLON OF IT! It has spice, flavor, and pairs so well with all the items I've tried. I like their beef curry with the little roti cut up. I definitely can consume a whole big bowl of it. Located on the corner of O and 14th, you'll find this cute spot with the pink umbrellas. It's a spot in Sac that I hope stays open for decades. If I'm not here on the weekends, check on my mental health.

You now order from a kiosk menu, which has photos, descriptions, and current prices. It was quick and easy. I ordered Ye Beg Alicha, which the menu describes as a lamb soup. I would refer to it as a stew, exactly what I was hoping for. It was a large serving of many, small pieces of lamb, in a spiced, buttery stew and comes with a small salad. It was delicious. My husband had the veggie platter, which came with Cabbage Wot (cabbage, plus a few carrots and potatoes), Miser Wot (spicy red lentil stew), Gomen Wot (collard greens), Shiro Wot (chickpea stew), Kik Alicha (mild split pea stew), and a small salad. He's not a big fan of collard greens, but ate and enjoyed everything. He found the Miser Wot particularly spicy, which he appreciated. Both our entrees were served on a large piece of Injera, and also came with 3 rolled up Injera pieces. We both love their Injera, which has a perfect sour flavor, and the texture of 100% teff. It takes a while to get the food, but I like the fact that that means they cook from scratch with fresh ingredients. As mentioned, Injera (darker and sourer than other Ethiopian restaurants we tried) is a good example. Service was warm and welcoming, as they state on the web site as a goal they strive for.

Fast forward today, and wow!! Everything in the meal for this week that I ordered (see photos) was full of flavor! I was blown away and sooo full, after savoring every bit, that I needed to save some for another day. The duck spring rolls and ginger cranberry chutney were so delicious that I wished I could have more! The Thai grilled chicken was juicy and PACKED with mouth watering curry spices and flavors, while being perfectly paired with the ginger noodles. The ginger noodles had a kick, and I am a weakling when it comes to even mild spice, so I was relieved by the rolls that balanced out the noodles and chicken. I have enjoyed many scrumptious baked goods, including my fav breakfast biscuit sandwich with eggs and lemon squares, made by the students and sold in the Oak Café, so it was such a treat today to finally be able to enjoy their cooking talents for my lunch also. I look forward to another pleasant meal cooked by the talented ARC students, and cross my fingers for a dine-in reservation in the future!
