I came to check out Haidilao after seeing the Meat O'clock AYCE $19.99 deal on TikTok! I had very high hopes since a lot of my friends rave about this spot. I've never visited before, but I enjoyed how quick it was to get seated and the simple and clean layout. I was a bit disappointed because the soup base and sauce bar had to be purchased separately, which was $3-4 for the sauce and ~$25-30 depending on the soup base you choose. I guess the $20 AYCE deal did sound too good to be true, but after trying all the meat I thought that the beef roll was the best option. The portions did come out very big and more than enough for two people to share. I also really liked the Tom yum soup base, and it came with a couple shrimp and mushrooms already. Overall the meat quality and service is great, but I'm not sure that I would pick this spot over the abundant AYCE hotpot restaurant in Houston with similar meat quality. My friends and I unleashed our inner big backs at haidilao for their meat o clock deal. From 8 pm until closing, you can get 5 meats, all you can eat, for only $20. This deal includes their angus beef short plate, Australian lamb shoulder, kurobata pork tenderloin, white prawn, and marinated basa fish. You just have to pay for the broth as well, and if you want to use the sauce bar. We were cheap and decided not to buy the $3 sauce bar, but I lowkey need sauce with my meat. The meat cooks very fast so don't cook them for too long or they'll be more chewy. My favorites were the beef and then the lamb. The fish was very tender but didn't absorb the broth very well. The shrimp had the shell on still and I didn't want to bother peeling it. They provide complimentary snacks as well. We used one of their secret codes to get some fried buns with condensed milk for dessert. The buns were like crunchy on the outside and pillowy in the inside. We had another secret code we wanted to use but apparently they now limit you to one code. Let me put you on some gooood hotpot. Apparently Haidilao is even fancier and more popular in china which is hard to imagine bc it already stands out amongst the other hot pot franchises here in TX. I've been to the location in Frisco (in the Dallas area) which I love but I've been to the Katy location 2-3 times now. This time I came with my dad, brother and husband and we had a freaking blast. You can't control the poor etiquette of other customers blocking you off from getting dipping sauce but the restaurant can implement a better system so that people don't have to wait so long and fight to make some sauce. But besides that- the meat quality is pricey but superb. So much better than Little Lamb. I love the meat broth it is so nice and light and fragrant - and I eat so many veggies and mushrooms when I eat here which is hard to do otherwise if you don't have such good soup and seasonings. Since this was Christmas time we all got extra little gifts which was sweet and they had an employee dress up as Santa and let customers spin the wheel to win prizes how fun! Everything was so delicious and tasty. Pro tip end the night with noodles and you have a whole dish of noodle soup! Wish they had desserts here but hey not complaining. I can't recommend haidilao enough. Ask for the noodle dance and if you're lucky you will have a pro like we did who flawlessly danced with the noodle. So amazing and fun. Despite being open for a while, the restaurant remains popular and packed and still requires long wait time if you didn't call ahead. This a la carte Chinese hot pot chain is known for its exceptional food quality, outstanding service and complimentary snacks and side dishes. The interior is modern and clean. You can order everything from soup base, meat and veggies to desserts on the iPad. A robot goes around and delivers the dishes. There's also a self serve condiment/side dish bar. The food selection and qualities are definitely better than other AYCE hot pot spots in town, and the soup base tasted authentic, however it is on the pricier side (a typical visit will end up to be north of $50 per person). It can get really busy so I think having a reservation could be helpful although we are able to walk in on a Saturday night but that's because the winter storm was coming here in January 2026 The servers were friendly combinations were very clean. We didn't spend the extra 399 per person for the sauce bar. I felt like if we picked really good sauces cooking the meat in there and the vegetables. It should taste really good and that helped to be true note that the pictures on the iPad are smaller in quantity than what you got between my wife and I and her eight-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter. We had 15 entrées or 15 dishes if you will between vegetables and meats and we definitely over ordered. I would encourage you to check out their secret phrases and make sure that you show those two the server to be able to get some free items, they brought toys for the kids with it. That was a really classy move. There's a couple things that were wrong with the bill, but they were polite, courteous, and made some adjustments as needed. They accidentally charges for the sauce bar which we didn't use overall great experience would highly recommend and definitely when I go back probably could've done with eight dishes versus the 15 that we had although I did walk away extremely satisfied, but just absolutely full. You'll have to investigate how this compares to for instance XiaoLongKan, I can't speak to that anymore than to say that I've liked them both immensely. And the birthday celebration was so wonderful and special, he even gave us some of their homemade rice pudding, I think it was, and a bag of goodies to take home. We got one of the spicy soups and they gave us this cute little fan to help cool us down. The food was so delicious and fresh! Inside was so clean and pretty. Our Australian friend was talking about Haidilao and how it was so popular in Singapore due to the wait, the entertainment and the food! Apparently there is usually a long wait, but the Katy one allows reservations up to parties of 8! Though beware their biggest table barely holds 8 comfortably, I think 6 is the best at most for comfort. 2 on each side of the table. The corners of the booths are almost wasted space. I wish there was a corner table to hold our drinks so that the table could hold all the food items and sauces for the hot pot! The food, we opted for 4 different broths! The pork stomach in a chicken broth, I liked this one the least cause honestly it was a bit bland. The stomach was not seasoned and not very tender. The tomato broth was one of my friend's favorites but I found I didn't enjoy the tartness as much. The golden broth, I believe it was chicken based with pumpkin to give it a golden look.. it was slightly sweet but also tasted like a good pork soup, this one was my favorite! The last broth we got was the Tom yum.. also a table favorite because it was the strongest broth in terms of flavor. All the meats and veggies were fresh and came out quickly. The dancing noodle was fun and the noodles very fresh. I ordered the lychee lemon juice as a drink and it was refreshing and delicious! I finished it before the food even came out. My favorite soup base is the tom yum one, and I have yet to find another place in Houston with tom yum soup as good as this. All the other ingredients are really fresh as well, but is pretty costly. I would recommend coming during one of the sales/promotions that they have going on to really get your money's worth. The sauce bar is an additional cost, but it also has really great selections and some nice appetizers that switch from time to time. We went here for dinner last night. This is not our first experience with Haidilao. We've been to 2 locations in southern California. I would say the food was for the most part very consistent with how it tasted in California, in other words, great. We tried 4 different soup bases (house pepper-flavored spicy, the pork bone based spicy, Thai tom yam kung, tomato). I really love the flavor of the pepper spicy but wish I could tone down the spice level a bit. My daughter really liked her tomato based. The pork bone and tom yam kung were okay and certainly did their job of providing the hot broth to cook the protein/vegetables. For protein, we got 3 different types of beef (rib eye, brisket and beef belly). All were very good to great and I would order all of them again. The only ding would be the Dan Dan noodles. At the California locations, I remember this being the best Dan Dan noodles I've ever had. While the one I ordered last night was good, it didn't live up to what I had at the other locations. I have been coming here since their grand opening. Service is always there, although the inside can get quite crowded. I highly suggest getting reservations as the wait times can be quite long. However, there's a nice outdoor waiting area where they offer snacks and iced water. Broths are always good, meat perfectly sliced, and many options where you order on an iPad. They even have sauce suggestions on what to do at their sauce stations. If you come later on in the day, you might not be able to order the drunken noodle where they have a short performance in front of you. The downside... parking can be hard to find as the parking lot is quite small and shared with many other businesses. Also, the wait time is always long. It's pretty packed even on the weekday during lunch, we had to wait ~20 minutes, then it took an extra 20 to get the food. One note for the restaurant is definitely making pricing more transparent/upfront) I haven't been to an a la carte hot spot spot in a hot minute so when I saw the prices for bean curd at $5.99, I was flabbergasted. Fortunately, my dad and I were drawn in by the weekday lunch special, $1.99 Angus beef (note, only 4 orders max, though I'm not sure if that's 4 at a time or 4 per visit). They let you choose your soup base, from 1 to 2 to even as many as 4. We got the pork broth and spicy pork broth. Both were great, my dad complimented them and opted to take the leftover broth home. A plus was they helped to ladle it in takeout containers, great service! The dessert soup (red rice/bean) is pretty decent, not too sweet and fairly thick! Restrooms are nice, and there's a decent amount of parking in a popular block of other businesses you can check out if you're waiting, I recommend the Kinokuniya bookstore! Therefore, I ate by myself, and they have an option for you to eat one soup or two when eating alone, which I really liked. They have four squares total, so if you have a large party and wanted to try various broths, that would be a good option, too. They have many options of broths, meats, and sides for the hotpot. I got the gold soup pot and pork belly and chicken soup pot. The gold soup is chicken base and was heartier, whereas the pork belly and chicken broth was more light and peppery. I really enjoyed both broths and did not adjust it. Everything was on an iPad, so it was easier to order more. They also have a huge sauce bar with a variety of sauces, spices, etc, to your liking. My only complaint was that my server and dancing noodle man never came. From what I have experienced, the dancing noodle man takes FOREVER to come out, and I am always done with my soup by the time he does. I wish they had an option for you to get the hand-pulled noodles without the dancing man.
