The food was good, however the place inside was a little dirty. Would not recommend eating inside the establishment. The service was just okay. Never had Hawaiian BBQ before. When we asked questions about the food the waiter didn't really answer them and told us things that were just wrong. The Food was a 10 out of 10 though and I will be coming back with my family regardless 100% worth coming back to

Wow! Spicy island chicken was delicious! It was a good amount of both chicken and rice and the perfect after gym lunch! I don't live near Salinas but if I'm back in the area I'm definitely coming back here! So good!

Spam Musubi, and the Chicken Combo with Island Fire Chicken on the left, and "BBQ" Chicken on the right.

Food? I LOVED the flavor of the "BBQ" Chicken and the spiciness of the Island Fire Chicken. So moist! The portions are HUGE! I ordered a Chicken Combo and Spam Musubi to go. For my combo I asked for Island Fire Chicken instead of Chicken Katsu. When I got home to Prunedale, everything was still piping hot! The combo comes with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. The chicken, which is very saucy, was laid upon a bed of raw cabbage. The heat of the chicken caused the cabbage to be pleasantly wilted. The chicken thighs were cut into strips, marinated and cooked into moist yumminess. The "BBQ" was more of a teriyaki sauce that was surprisingly not sweet but still very delicious. The Island Fire marinade was very good. It tasted of pineapple and was pretty spicy, although, again, not sweet. I really enjoyed the marinades NOT being sweet but this is not typical of Island cuisine. The macaroni salad was swimming in mayo. Atypically, there was no fresh and crunchy component; no green onions, no celery, and no carrots. Also, the macaroni salad contained no sugar. The next time I order it, I would ask for double the cabbage, hold the macaroni salad. When I nuked it the next evening for dinner, I quickly stir fried chopped cabbage, chopped onion, and sliced carrot as a side. Delicious and still so moist! The Spam Musubi was a very large portion but the Spam wasn't fried in shoyu, and the rice was not well seasoned. You get two large musubis for around $7. Although I wasn't impressed with my bite when it was fresh, the next morning, I popped it in the air fryer for 5 minutes. OMG! The ends of the roll with crispy rice, and the crisped nori wrapper dipped in teriyaki sauce was a taste sensation! Loved it! Service? The young woman greeted me appropriately and helped me efficiently. Ambiance? The place was clean, but the furniture was rode hard and put away wet. The ceiling fans were rotating even though the high today was 62 degrees. It's a good thing the food is served so hot, because the frigid temp of the restaurant would chill it quickly. Happily, there was no mindless music assaulting the customers!

Made an online order at Haiku Hawaiian BBQ. They were really quick with the food! Overall the food was good. I would say, the Katsu was a bit too fried that it became too hard. I'd definitely recommend the bbq chicken and short ribs!

We ordered Spam Musubis (pictured). Absolutely delicious! We also ordered crab ragoon, they were also very delicious. We ordered a plate of the Hawaiian BBQ Combo and the BBQ Katsu Mix. Our favorite was the Hawaiian BBQ. Both plates came with a nice big portion. The staff were very friendly. We ate outside due to having our dog with us. The tables in the outside area were nice and clean.

We loved this Hawaiian place. The restaurant is small but has several tables for eating in. Their menus are easy to read and understand on their tv monitors. We ordered the bbq chicken n beef combo and Kalbi Ribs combo. The teriyaki and fire sauce are very delicious. We loved their spam musibi made authentically. It was very tasty. We loved this Hawaiian fast food place. Huge portions and fast friendly service. You will love the food.

Beef chicken combo. Macaroni salad hiding.

I was grateful to find a Hawaiian place while on the road. Service was friendly. Portions are generous but the teriyaki really needs more caramelization while on the grill. It didn't have much flavor. I enjoyed the Spam musubi.

This is my first time here and the food is fantastic. Very friendly customer service and quick. I would eat again, yum, yum!

The lady, Sonja never mentioned it, just told me I could sit anywhere. Ordered the filet, and while , yes it was pricey, it was good! Beans bread and potato were as well. The salad was , well, a salad. Nathan took my order, everything came out in in decent time, but what bugs me more than anything, is when your server, or anyone for that matter, never swings by, within a given amount of time, as you are eating your meal, to check in, see how everything is. Not once did I even see my server walk down our area. The only time he showed up was after I finished. To offer dessert. It's such a small, but important detail, when I dine out. Just wanting someone to swing by, check in. Easy. I wanted to ask if I could pay for a side of their special bbq sauce. Saw it on the menu, it sounded interesting. Never got the chance. Oh well. The tip reflected the service. An interesting end note, that left me confused was when another employee handed me my cheque, it had Sonja's name in it, not my servers name who was Nathan. Maybe it's nothing. But it struck me odd. Would I go again. Sure. The food was good. I'd like the option of giving it a 3.5, but yelp does not present that option. Maybe it was an off early evening for the service.. I'll give it a go again, next time I'm in town.

They didn't start arriving for quite a while and multiple drinks were incorrect. It was well over an hour before our food order was taken. We were almost two hours in before the food started arriving. The salads that came with meals were good. A number of folks ordered the bisque and after some entrees were already being served to some, our sever said they were out of bisque, but making some more. About a half hour later the bisque came and everyone said it was cold. I'll just describe my meal, but there were issues with others as well. I ordered the halibut ($44). It was served atop mashed potatoes and asparagus. The potatoes were cold. The fish was a very thin filet (was it even halibut?), breaded and grilled. It was so hard and dry I had to use a knife to cut it. It was mostly breading and not much fish. If we were not guests of the dinner coordinator, I would have sent it back.. Our group understands the challenge of serving a big group, but this was beyond unacceptable. Is there any management oversight? Who's training the kitchen? We were seated for over three hours just to get through our meals, with no appetizers or deserts ordered. The restaurant was not busy for inside seating either.

We have tried different things on each visit and everything has been quite tasty. We have sat outside on the patio, so cannot speak to the inside other than restroom, which was fine - probably could be a little cleaner near bathrooms. Salmon with piccata sauce - really nice portion, it was quite large serving. The sauce was thicker than I am used to having, almost gravy-texture, but very flavorful. Delicious fresh veggies and I think it was a mashed potato (this was 2 weeks ago). French dip sandwich - hubby thought was spot on, really nice size. Only issue were his fries were a bit soggy. Calamari appetizer - LOVE this - it is really tasty, I prefer the tartar sauce with it, but the calamari is a really nice texture and tastes very fresh. Chicken tenders for kids - this is where I would knock them a bit, says panko crusted, these were not. They were identical to ones we get at Costco, which are great - really nice quality, but these were not what was expected. Fries again were soggy, so kind of a miss on the chicken tenders and fries. Hamburger - delicious my son said, toasted brioche bun was a nice touch. It was cooked well, decent portion as well, not too small and not too large. Steak and shrimp - while the steak was flavorful, it was thin, just slightly thicker than a flank cut. Shrimp were fine - overall it was a 3.5 out of 5 per the hubby. Pepperoni pizza - interesting. It tastes totally fine - its just felt like the dough was more focaccia? not pizza dough? The pepperoni were plentiful, not spicy (which is sometimes good for littles), and cheese was fresh. We enjoyed, but I think we are just spoiled by New York style. Desserts are hit or miss - cookies and the brownie have a really good flavor, but crumbly - like almost too crumbly. You hold and it falls out of your hand. They were out of coconut cream pie - so my hubby got a lemon pie, it was fine. The waitstaff has always been pleasant and attentive! We will hopefully be back on Friday!
