It was such a wonderful experience, Andy went out of her way to accommodate my Mom who is 90 yr old and oxygen dependent , and made sure she cut her hair the way She wanted it. I really love Janice. She is a great stylist. I tell her what I'm thinking for my hair and she just makes it happen. And she is so easy to talk to. I hate sitting in a salon chair and not really clicking with the stylist because it makes conversation awkward. But Janice and I hit it off right away. The other ladies in the shop seem to be nice as well. They are fairly priced and have a great selection of salon quality products. What I really love is I can book an appointment through Yelp! I went yesterday for my first appointment with Vickie to get my haircut. She listened to everything that I wanted in a cut. It came out perfect. I washed my hair today and used the product I got from her. I was able to style it just as she did. Perfection!!!! Never had a stylist say they guarantee their work and come back if need any help. My wife and I moved to the Pacific Northwest a little over a year ago and live in Elma Washington. This past August we were at a car show in McKenna at Jim Bob's Chuck Wagon (a great place to eat) where we won the auction bid for two free haircuts at Hair Inc by a girl named Janis. Not only was she extremely kind, courteous, and friendly, but she was able to give us two tremendously great hair cuts. Even though we live in Elma, fifty miles away, it was worth the trip to Yelm to get the best haircuts we have received since we have moved here. We've now made arrangements for a follow-up haircut and we're going back. Thanks Janis, not only for your generous donation to the Wounded Heroes of Ft Lewis/McCord, but for the excellent haircuts. This also gives me an excuse to drive fifty miles to eat at one of my favorite BBQ restaurants in Washington State, Jim Bob's. I highly recommend Janis as an outstanding hair stylist. read more

Denise is our family's stylist. It started with my aunt a couple years ago. I saw her last year. And I brought my daughter, who has alopecia, to her, and she was happy to take on the challenge. And it was a challenge to make an 18 year old with many large and small bald spots, look as though she had none. Denise was thoughtful, took her time, and made my daughter look beautiful. My sister came to this salon and to get her first hair cut and this salon completely dismissed her and couldn't give her 15 minutes of her time to make her feel special. very disappointed in the customer service part. it was early in the morning they weren't helping anyone else the appointment was set more than a week in advance and then day comes they remember talking about the appointment but never scheduled it. I called to make an appointment for my 4 year old to get her first hair cut. They were very accommodating considering I have a difficult schedule to work around (or so it seemed). I scheduled my appointment 10 days out. We arrived for our appointment masked and 5 minutes early. When we texted to let them know we were there they said we didn't have an appointment. We went inside to figure it out and they didn't actually set said appointment. They then decided to set me up with another time that is more inconvenient. I took th appointment but will be canceling it after writing this. I dont want to take my family anywhere where they make my children cry. I have never left a review for a hairstylist before. Udually, I have miserable to merely forgettable experiences. Until Janice! She listened, asked questions. I brought pictures of the haircolor I wanted, and she nailed it. Everything i wanted was nothing mainstream. No neat colors, no foils, no layers. She didnt try to upsell me on anything. She took her time and didn't mind that I'm a " talk constantly to the stylist" person. I left feeling beautiful, and like myself again. It has been three weeks and I still love the cut and color. Janice got us in very last minute to do my daughters hair for a dance when I had checked in at great clips already. Great clips told me that having my daughters hair curled was to long of an appointment and refused to do it. In a panic I called Hair Inc she got her right in and did a great job! read more

They are so nice but the quality is bad. I had bad experience twice with two different stylists. The first the sides were not even but they did fixed it. the second time my bangs were three different lengths and middle is so short its so embarrassing especially when you spend so much. read more

FYI for those who live in and around Yelm, WA Hi, I just got my hair colored and cut at Hair, Inc. They had been recommended by another salon that does not do color. They recommended Janis as being great with doing color. Janis did my hair and she did a lousy job. She colored it twice and it took 5 hours, it still is not anything near what I asked for. When she cut it she still didn't do as I asked. She cut it too short on top and my bangs are way to long in front. The cut is not even on both sides. When she styled it I said I ware it in very soft waves and loose. I got curly with straight ends she said that was because she didn't have the right size of curling iron. After spending 5 hours in her chair I had a very painful back and had to take pain meds for 3 days. I was charged $150.00 dollars for all this. I went in and complained and was told that they would not refund my money not even for the color but she would attempt to correct the color but that the color looked great to them. I had tried to talk to the gal when she started to color my hair but she never really talked to me about my hair and it was like she had decided what it should look like and it didn't matter what I wanted. Her manager had told her what to do to color my hair and that was what she did. When I have had my hair done in the past they would spend 10-15 minutes trying to understand what I wanted and asked lots of questions. Her manager had spent 2 minutes talking to me the day before when I made the appointment with Janis. According to Janis the manager had told her how to color my hair. I will not recommend this shop to anyone, I would advise you to find a different salon unless you like getting what someone else decides about your hair. I am 72 and after this experience I understand why elders feel like they have no rights. They did not want to listen to me and I have no right to want my money back or use a different stylist than the one who had already made a mess of my hair. I went to this salon based on a recommendation through a Facebook Yelm chat group. I was given the name Vicky or Denise. Neither were available for Saturday and because I didn't know any of them, I let them set me up with Ashley. I normally use Gene Juarez, because I have got tired of having so many oopsies and they have always done me right and fixed all the oopsies that I figured I might as well use them. I was hoping to save a little money and not have to drive so far so I decided to give a local place a try. Boy did I make a BIG mistake. Not only did I have to pay them, but I had to pay Gene Juarez to fix the mess. I showed them a pic of my last foiling and I am not sure how I ended up with the color of rusted orange in my hair from the pic that I showed them. As far as the hair cut ...that was even worse. I was not getting a new style, just a few inches cut off because it was dead and just needed to go. The length wasn't the problem, it was the fact that is was cut at an angle and the ends were not even. Gene Juarez was shocked at the mess. I no longer have long hair because hey had to cut off more to fix the mess. It took two treatments to tone down the copper orange. Needless to say I will not be going here ever again. I did express that I was not happy with the color and was told to come back in a couple days if I still didn't like it and they would work on it. I had my hair done on a Saturday and did not realize how bad the cut was until later after the styling she put in fell out and I could see the ends. By this time they were closed and would not open again until Monday. I have to work all week and we are leaving for Canada for a family reunion....so this can't wait...and I don't think I would trust them to fix the mess. If they can't do a simple hair cut....NO WAY!!! Thank God Gene Juarez is open on Sunday and had some room to squeeze me. They are my saviors. Lesson learned....again. Tomorrow is Monday and I will talk to them about this and see what they have to say. read more

I had been going to the Gene Juarez in Tacoma for 8 of the 10 year's I've lived in Washington. I've always been told my hair is very difficult to cut and style due to its thickness and texture , and because of that I've had some horrific Hair cuts! A friend recommended Gene Juarez saying it was the greatest hair salon in Washington, so I went there thinking it was my only option. I can't say that they did a bad job on my hair. The colorist did great highlights, but my stylist seemed to think i needed a "modern hair style " because she said my hair was "boring and outdated" so even though I told her I was happy with my normal style ,I'd always end up with some weird style with crazy angles and Asymmetrical layer's that made me look like Cindy Lauper and it was horrific as it grew out. The worst thing was the prices for what were really average styles. I paid $140 for partial highlights and $60 for the weird cut! $200! I knew a member from my church had her own salon, and although I didn't know her very well back then, I used to admire her own great sense of style so I made an appointment with her. Her name is Vicki Yount. I instantly clicked with her and i loved the cozy, peaceful atmosphere there. She gave me partial highlights, and a great haircut and evened out the former, crazy layer's from GJ. she didn't have any problems with my "difficult" texture at all. Anyways, not only did i thoroughly enjoy my time there, I ended up with the prettiest, natural looking highlights and a cut that was exactly what I wanted.FOR HALF OF WHAT I PAID AT GJ! I left there feeling so much prettier than i had in forever, and I will never go anywhere else. read more

I have rather "difficult" hair that's long, thick and with texture issues that usually requires extra appointment time to complete and i've had previous stylists find it overwhelming, are unable or even unwilling to give me the color and style i've requested and it was so disheartening to pay a lot of money, and leave feeling worse than before going in. I was so happy when I finally found Vicki 5 year's ago who not only fixed the prior botched jobs, but gave me the most beautiful, perfect highlights i've ever had on my first appointment, and maintained that perfect color every time i've seen her. She also gives amazing hair cuts, takes time styling it so beautifully afterward. I always look forward to seeing her and know i'll be as happy and satisfied as always. She has a fabulous personality and makes the entire experience very enjoyable. I recommend her to everyone. She truly cares about giving her clients exactly what they ask for.
