It's actually unfortunate I have to give even one star. This establishment deserves 0. My mother is on vacay here with me and needed her hair washed and brushed. What did she get? SHAMED! Another curly haired girl getting shamed for having knotty hair. My mother told Connie ("stylist") to please detangle her hair with the conditioner still in her hair and Connie did not listen. Instead she washed it out, sat my mother in the chair, looked at her knots and said "I don't know what you're going to do about this. I dont have a special brush for your hair." WOW! So after the rude remarks she proceeded to rip my mothers hair out with a paddle brush and no leave in conditioner while continuing to inform her that she needs to brush her hair and remove the knots prior to coming. NEVER coming back here to someone who blatantly SHAMES different hair textures. read more

LINDA Zarick at Hair It Is is teriffic! Offering a coupon deal for highlights with a cut is what brought me in and I'm glad I took a chance! I had to drive nearly 30 min and was glad I did. I read the Yelp comments before purchasing and felt even better after she called me right away to schedule. I don't really have complicated hair, but do have a particular style and way I want my highlights to look. I don't like weaving back in the low lights of orange or brown and she did exactly as I asked. I even told her the type of brush that works best with styling and she not only listened, but HEARD me. I came in on a Monday and it was great because it wasn't loud or busy. We had a lot in common so it was fun to chat it up with someone new, but my perception is that Linda wouldn't impose conversation on anyone not in the mood or would just get down to business if on a time schedule. Linda has a lot of experience with AVEDA products and has had extensive training but even without the coupon deal, I think her prices are fair. I think services in this economy should be fair, not "cheap" with crummy results or as ridiculous as so many stylists are with $50 haircuts and $125 highlights that, who cares what the result are, the sticker shock alone in this economy is enough to make one cry! My previous review got filtered, so I wanted to add it again(: I have been getting my hair done by Lisa Landers at Hair It Is Etc. for a few years now, and I think she is the absolute best! I have never met someone so patient, thorough, and talented! She is a fantastic listener, and really has a discussion with you during your consultation to give you exactly what you're looking for. I can tell that she truly cares about her clients and wants them to be happy. I had some really bad roots coming in while she was out of town not too long ago, and she referred me to Farrah, another stylist in the salon, who was equally as amazing and kind. As far as I've seen, all of the girls do amazing work in a really cute space that's affordable while still being very chic. I would definitely recommend Lisa (and Farrah), especially for color. Lisa was able to squeeze me in yesterday and brighten up my blonde right before my vacation. My hair feels so healthy and looks so pretty; she never makes me feel rushed and I always enjoy a relaxing, pampering experience. Thank you Lisa & Farrah, you are the best! read more

Do not not NOT go with ashley to get your haircut. I had an appointment at 12 and she was nowhere to be found, when she finally showed up she did a really bad job. All I got was my bangs cut, I did a front fringe, and she didn't even part my hair before she cut them. There was stray pieces of long hair in them, and they were uneven. She didn't put any form of heat protectant when she straightened them, she was overall really bad. If I wanted to mess up my hair I could've done it myself. read more

They didn't have time for me right away, but told me they could get me in in an hour and 15 mins. So, I went home and had lunch, then came back. They took me back right away. Sarah has been spoiling my hair for a few years now and she is amazing! I love going in and being able to totally trust her judgement on what direction to take my hair. She is an ENJOY educator and an expert on makeovers. I also love not having to worry about my super curly hair ending up too short or oddly shaped. I love getting color done by her because she does color that does not need to be touched up 15 minutes after you leave. I always look trendy and can wait a few months in between touch-ups. I've been a client of Michelles for over 12 years. This salon had a complete makeover when Michelle took it over. It has a warm, friendly feeling. Its absolutely gorgeous. All of the girls are very sweet.....whether you are their client or not they make conversation with you. All of the girls are very customer oriented and always drop what they are doing to help someone. I think it says a lot about a salon that they have no walk ins for 2 days....means the girls do a great job and are always busy. Most of all....you get what you pay for!!! I think a woman's hair can make or break their confidence. This is the first salon I ever went to about 6 years ago. I came in on Christmas Eve for the first time, and Jessica took me back and even stayed late to finish my hair how I wanted it. I have gone to her since then besides the occasional spur of the moment decision to dye my hair myself (in which case I go back to have her fix it). The salon has definitely changed over the years, but Jessica has remained a constant. She is always on time, and quick with hair. I've never noticed the staff being rude to me as others have said. My one small complaint is that when I lost Jessica's number and had to call the salon no one answered for two days, so I had to stop in to make the appointment. I just got a Color, Cut & Brazilian Blow Out from Kristina at Hair It Is. This is the first time I can say, I'm loving the way my hair looks! My hair color was a yellow, brassy blonde and she was able to tone it down to get it to the color I was trying to achieve! I also have A LOT of hair, and it can look dry and frizzy sometimes, but after the blow out that she did, my hair looks soft and straighter than its ever been! I have been going to Hair it is for a while now and my hair stylist is Lisa. I get my hair color done there. Lisa is professional, courteous, efficient and I have never walked out of this salon disappointed. Recently, I had hair extensions put in place and I am so happy with the result! I was worried that they wouldn't match or that they would feel uncomfortable and Lisa supported me the whole way through. Very gentle and informative. I LOVE the look of my hair! I got so many compliments on how beautiful my hair looked and no one questioned me at all about the change other than to say, "You are having such a good hair day!" The salon is always clean, and beautiful and every time I go there, not only does Lisa treat me well, the other stylist say hi and ask me how I am doing. Cindy has done amazing things with my skin, she always knows just what I need when I come in to see her. She is gentle and very informative about skin care. I got married a year ago and I came to Cindy prior to my wedding day on a regular schedule to be sure my eyebrows and skin were at their best. I walked in on a whim after seeing the salon and was able to be taken in for a haircut almost immediately. I saw Tawnya and absolutely LOVED her. She was super friendly and has a ton of experience. I was surprised to find that they have a ton of services available and that makes me excited to go back for other beauty salon needs (like getting nails done). It's definitely set up well and I feel like I got an excellent personal experience. The environment was low-key but professional and everyone seemed to know each other. It's a place that people seem very loyal to and I am excited to go back. My hair cut was amazing! I went from having really long hair to just above the shoulders and Tawnya cut and styled it perfectly. I often have trouble with hair cuts/dressers because my hair is curly/wavy and often unmanageable, but Tawnya handled it like a pro. I could not have had a better experience.
