I can't even describe what a nightmare I had at this place. I've gone here for a couple years, and they gave decent haircuts at a decent price. This last time, however, changed my entire view of this place. Despite wanting a very simple haircut--a blunt bob around chin length--the hair stylist completely butchered it. Joan missed chunks of hair, split my part down the middle without asking me, and cut my hair to noticeably uneven lengths. The hair on my right side was obviously longer than my left. She spent less than 10 minutes cutting my hair, and she didn't even finish blow drying after she finished. I left with damp hair! I went back today asking for a touch up, hoping that this time was just an off day for the stylist. However, she spent less than 5 minutes fixing her botched job, and there were still chunks that she missed when I left. I had to cut them myself when I got home. When she tried to even out the right and left sides, she just made my hairline jagged and uneven. It looks like a 1st grader took scissors to my hair. I'm never coming back. I can always trust her to give me great ideas if I want something new or if I come in with something in mind, I know she'll give me honest advice on whether or not something will look good on me. I trust her whole-heartedly and that means a lot when it comes to my hair. I always love the outcome when she's all done. She trims, cuts and colors exactly like she says she's going to. Go here for Katie! My previous hair dresser messed up my hair with an uneven cut and a brassy ombré. I first came to this place to accompany my sister-in-law and Katie told me she wanted to fix it. After initially toning and deep conditioning my hair, it immediately looked better. Katie does amazing work and is very honest on if the style and color you want will look good on you. She has toned, cut, and styled my hair multiple times since. She's the go-to girl if you want to fix your "botched" hair or if you just want a regular cut and style. I've been going to Katie for over 6 years and she's done fantastic with my hair. We met at another salon and it was love at first sight. She used to work at different locations but have always kept in touch with her clients even after she moved. She's been at hair west the longest. My advice to you is that if you want your hair cut, dyed, styled, etc; you will have to make an appointment with her. She does not take any walk-ins. She's sweet and professional and will give you what you want but of course will tell you the truth if she doesn't think it will look good on you. I have referred friends and my mom to her. Well, I could never run out of good things to say about Katie Duong. I drive all the way from Glendale to go and see her since I moved out of town. I've been seeing her now for about 8 years. She is completely experienced and knows how to style, dye and highlight hair amazingly. She is also the only person that I've found that can wax my eyebrows with the exact shape and thickness that I want. You know, there are just some people with and inner sense of style and that is Katie. Honestly, I wouldn't go to anyone else. It's worth the drive. Got my hair done by Katie yesterday and I am very very satisfied with her work. She's simply the best! I had blonde-ish/yellow-ish hair for a loooooong time and wanted something different. She did her best and an excellent job with dyeing my hair and matching it up with the color of my roots. Plus, she gave me kinda like a "hot oil" treatment to bring my hair back to life. Ugh amazing! She's so sweet and would really take the time to give you a very satisfying experience. I'm happy that I got my hair done by her and would definitely be coming back here from now on for hair care needs ;) she only takes appointment/referrals so make sure to call ahead of time, she DOES NOT take walk-ins. First time here. I had to take my mom to get a haircut. It was only $20 for cut and blow dry! Yolanda was a great hairdresser. She took her time and was very precise. She loves her work and clients and it shows from the work of perfection she does. My review for Katie has been a long time coming. I first went to her for my wedding hair. I took a big risk and she came through for me! Katie is the best!!! What's great about her is that she does your color in a way that will last you months and months, so even if you neglect to get a touch up, no one will notice... not even you... which is why I myself neglected to get my hair done for almost a year ... and ppl were still complimenting me to the end! I've referred my mom, my husband, and my sister in law to Katie, so she's become almost like our family hair stylist. Lol! So we all look fabulous thanks to her! The last time I went to see Katie she changed my hair color from my lighter wedding hair color to a more ash brown. She listened to what I wanted and took careful note of my request and executed it perfectly! I have been getting so many compliments on my hair color and cut. ... I wish I could give zero stars. I cannot rate the service just the lack of customer service. I walked in at 540 pm as it says walk-ins welcomed and they close at 7. There's 2 customers in chairs and one stylist talking to one of them. Was my presence acknowledged? No. She made eye contact and turned right back to talking. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because it was her customer talking. So I waited. She made eye contact again and quickly looked away so I stood staring straight her. After a minute more she finally said "Can I help you?" I indicated I would like a hair cut and she stated she would be right back. She came back with another stylist and said they were both busy and if I could come back the next day. I politely declined and went on my way. She could have taken 30 seconds to tell me this when I walked in and not wasted 5 minutes. Maybe they should indicate that appointments are preferred and walk-ins are iffy.
