10/10 - A Must-Stop Every Time I've been coming here ever…read moresince I was little, and it's one of those places that never disappoints. Every time I'm anywhere close, I make it a point to stop, and this trip was no different. I was driving back home to North Carolina and had to make one last stop because it's just that good. The food is always fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The sandwich was perfectly toasted with fresh ingredients, plenty of parmesan, and an amazing sauce, and the fries were cooked perfectly. Everything tasted just as good as I remembered. Service was a 10/10 and wonderful seating options MUST GO!!!

Even after the 2021 rebrand, it still held on for a while, but something in the last 5 years at the main office has completely lost touch. They expanded to three locations: ; downtown, Tybee, and Hilton Head, and in the process the whole identity fell apart. The menu has been gutted of its originality. The "OG" items are now overpriced, portion sizes have been cut in half, and the original sides that made it special are gone. What used to be a simple, order-and-sit-down experience is now chaotic. You're herded in by an overstaffed but somehow still disorganized team of high-turnover employees with zero consistency and very little emotional intelligence. There are always way too many staff for the number of customers, yet service somehow keeps getting worse. Last night was the final straw. We tried the Tybee location first, waited 30 minutes just to be seated, only to be told they were basically out of everything and could only do drinks. So we drove to downtown. Same exact thing. Out of sausage. When we asked if we could just remove it or substitute it, we didn't get a simple no, we got an "absolutely not," because apparently everything is pre-mixed and nothing can be adjusted. Even worse once we sat down. It took 15 minutes just to be asked for drink orders. A different server came over, introduced himself like we were starting fresh, and then got visibly annoyed when we said we'd already ordered water and a soda. From there it just kept getting more awkward. At one point he bumped my cup while I was literally lifting it to my lips and told me to "watch out" while he was placing food down. He took forever to check us out and finally bring our soda to go, and ended the night by saying, "just so you know I'm faster than the other girl," like we were in the middle of some weird staff competition we didn't sign up for. On the outside it still looks like a fun Savannah staple. But once you sit down, you realize you're no longer a local guest, you're trapped in an overhyped tourist operation that's completely lost what made it good in the first place.

So I backed out, drove over a few spaces down and then pulled back into another parking spot. When my kids and I walked in, we were immediately greeted by a man as he was sweeping the store. That's one thing of the first things I noticed that it was really clean and organized. I asked him if the store was new and if it had just opened. I have been to Viet Huong quite a few times, as well as visiting the countless other businesses in that complex and this was the first time I had noticed Al Maddineh Halal Meat & Grocery Market (AMHMGM). No, he said, we have been open for about a year and a half now. Whoa! Really?! I have never noticed it before! - What you will find - I found the "Shan" brand that I have previously seen it at an Indian grocery store. It seems to be a variety of boxed spice mixes for various dishes like Kofta and Vegetable Masala. I actually bought a couple of them at the Indian grocery store upon that owners recommendation on Tandoori chicken, but I have yet to try them. Anyway, they have quite a variety of flavors of that brand. They also have bulk spices, dried pastas, canned goods and pita breads. They have a milk section as well as a refrigerated section where I found Labna!!!! It's probiotic and it's so good with really any fruit. I had some figs so I scooped out some labna and drizzled maple syrup because (a) Canadian side and (b) I didn't have honey. I am so glad I found this gem here! And of course the Halal Meat. There was a customer there at the time of our visit and the butcher was working away at cutting it the way she requested. The meat looked fresh and I've included the price list (see pics). They don't have any meat displayed in glass fridge cases, so I am assuming they butcher the meat upon request? There is also a small section of prayer mats and scarves there as well. I love discovering ethnic grocery stores and finding cool new food items to try. I also love seeing the different packaging of the same products we get here! Note to self for future - try some of the cheeses.

A good selection of Middle Eastern and Indian dry spices. My hunt for turmeric is over. I would like to return to purchase lamb. Himalayan Curry Kitchen in Richmond Hill is hands down one of our absolute favorite restaurants…read more The service is always warm and welcoming, and the food--every single dish--is nothing short of phenomenal. We've celebrated so many special moments here, from Diwali to my son's first solid food (butter chicken, of course!), and it's become our go-to spot for both the lunch buffet and countless family dinners. There is truly something for everyone on the menu. My personal favorite is the paneer makhani, while my kids are obsessed with the butter chicken (I can't blame them--it's incredible). The chicken tikka masala, curries, and kormas are all rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. My sister and I can't resist splitting the chili paneer, and we never sit down without ordering a few vegetable samosas and plenty of garlic naan for the table. It's just as delicious when ordered on DoorDash--which we do often! My only complaint? They're closed on Mondays, and for whatever reason, we always crave it on Mondays. If you're looking for authentic, flavorful, and consistently outstanding Indian food, you can't go wrong with Himalayan Curry Kitchen. It's a true gem in Richmond Hill, and we feel lucky to have it close by.

The second time was the Weekend Buffet. The variety of options was great... all the Indian staples were well prepared and tasty. My personal favorites were the goat vindaloo, and the tandoori chicken. There were many good vegetarian choices as well. This is nearly a 4 star visit, but the service was solidly average. The waiters came around, but at one point I had a small mountain of used plates and bowls on the table. The restaurant itself was clean, but not overly so. Overall, Himalayan Curry Kitchen is worth a visit to fix those Indian food cravings.

Then we ordered a shepard salad. They didn't have to do this, but it was very nice, they split it in to two for us. The salad was really good, it was chopped and loaded with flavor. I thought my wife was getting a gyro, at the last second she went with a falafel pita instead. It tasted good but she said the texture was bit funky. Awsome fries! Me, I had lamb chops, it was served with asparagus and rice. First the rice , a normal sized portion, and it tasted good. The asparagus, cooked perfect, also incredible good. Finally the lamb chops, OMG, cooked perfect, tasted great. Loved the lamb chops! We finished it off with some baklava. The whipped cream on it was different, but it was good. I would like to thank out server, she was wonderful and made it great meal! See ya in Ft Lauderdale

I love Mediterranean food, no matter where from, and know that every type is just a little different. We started with a shepherd's salad and server, without asking, had it split in the kitchen. So nice and thoughtful. The salad had great flavor and my husband and I loved it. We would have both preferred slab feta or even crumbled feta instead of shredded feta. Personal preference but we still loved it and we could taste the feta, so it wasn't a deal breaker. My husband has the lamb. He loved it. It wasn't a plate full of rice, which he also appreciated. The pricing was reasonable and the lamb was cooked perfect. I had the Falafal sandwich. I would have preferred tahini vs tzatziki but it was tasty. The Falafal was a little mushy for my palate but still good. They came with steak fries - my favorite kind of fry! We ended with the baklava. Every baklava we have ever had is different and we LOVED it. I was so full and was only going to have 1 bite, but that wasn't my story. Our server was amazing. She was friendly and helpful. She asked where we were from and recommended a few restaurants in South Florida for us to try. The restaurant can be fancy or casual - your choice. They made us feel welcomed and we enjoyed our meals. We would definitely go back next visit to Savannah - and there will be many more trips if our daughter ends up going to SCAD.
