Yes, I came back with photos this time. As you can see, I didn't make it past the first bite, but I promise I will next time LOL I absolutely love this place. The service is always so amazing and friendly. The food is so fresh and mouth watering. I barely made it out of the parking lot, and I surely didn't make it down Capital Blvd. I'm always supportive of a family-run establishment and Mona can have my money when it comes to my belly any day. I can't wait to bring my Mom here to try the food!

Mona is a sweetheart and was very welcoming and you can tell she puts a lot of care into this place. That being said, I would rate the food here good, not great. I may be wrong but the rice that came with the meal seemed like one of those boxed mixes and maybe not as authentic as what I've had in the past. The chicken kabobs were great and the hummus is very tasty. The soda machine was down the day we were there and they had limited options for drinks so we had to walk over to the Papa John's a couple doors down to spend $3 a pop on a couple diet sodas. Also, the menu is really off putting because of all the items that are crossed out with sharpie or revised pricing written over what was originally in the menu. When you walk in and see that on top of the soda machine being out of order it makes you wonder about the quality you are receiving. I gave it a four because I think Mona is putting decent, mostly authentic food out, but had the food been any less the stars would have dropped quite a bit based off of what we experienced.

Ordered delivery. I don't know what this is, but it's not Greek food. TL;DR: Taziki's is the better move. Anyway, I tried: + Chicken Gyro Sandwich + Lamb Gyro Platter + Shawarma Platter - this was decent + Chicken Kabob Platter + Chicken Fingers Basket with fries + Mozzarella Sticks with fries + Large Greek Salad - good + Grape Leaves (3 pieces) + Orzo & Feta Pasta Salad + Tzatziki with Hot Pita - awful, like salad dressing + Hummus with Hot Pita - good but had something really spicy in it + Babaghannouj with Hot Pita + Baklava - this was strangely the best thing we had, would recommend Very confused by their amazing rating - maybe we just caught them on an off night?

A late lunch and a very empty stomach, we stumbled upon Mona pita. And got to meet Mona herself, who is absolutely so kind and wonderful. We were not sure what to order, so I asked her for her favorite recommendations. We got to try the lamb platter, and the chicken kebab platter. We also got a side of falafel, and of course for dessert... Baklava. The chicken was juicy and tender and flavorful. It came with a great side of yellow rice, and a Greek style salad. Pita and hummus also! A great value for a nice platter of food. The lamb was very delicious, same sides on that platter as well. The favorite was the Tahina yogurt dip that comes with the falafel. I would highly recommend getting extra cups of that and dipping everything in it! A great find if your belly is empty, and you want some delicious Mediterranean style food.

Hot, Fresh, Delicious! Ordered delivery through an app and the food arrived nice and hot, even the fries were still crispy. Lamb and chicken shawarma were both delicious. Hubby and I grabbed takeout earlier this week because we didn't want to cook. I had the shawarma platter + fries, and he had the mixed kebab platter + shawarma sandwich. The place was empty when we went in to order, and the lady behind the counter immediately greeted us and began taking our order. I've had the platter before, so I knew what to expect and wasn't disappointed. The only thing I would've changed was more dressing on the salad. I couldn't really tell if there was any on it because it just tasted like lettuce all throughout. I love the garlic aioli and the chicken was hot and moist. Pita was soft and hummus was yummy. I will say the real star of the show was hubby's shawarma sandwich. He let me try it and wow!! I had to go back for more. I was kind of disappointed I didn't get it for myself. This place is rated highly most likely because of its location, which seems to be a small town. Not many other Mediterranean spots around from what i see with a quick search. All in all I had a platter and some falafel. The platter a nice portion but the food was extremely vinegary, almost inedible. Maybe some other offerings will do them justice. read more

Greatly disappointed. Being from the Illinois area I certainly did not expect the food to be fantastic but at least good. It was not. I ordered a lamb pita and it was the worst I've ever had. Mostly was given bread (pita). The meat was cut as if there was a shortage. At 1PM, I believe not. Only two people were sitting ing the restaurant. I specifically went here because of the reviews and my preference not to have frozen/pre-sliced meat. You don't make it 10 years in a hole-in-the-wall shopping center without being something special. It's hard to win me away from my favorite Mediterranean eateries, but Mona did it! Clean, convenient, friendly, delicious. It's not the most elegant dining experience out there and doesn't claim to be. The focus is on the food and the positive attitude, and rarely misses the mark. Omg so I read the reviews and this place seemed pretty good. I came for lunch and ordered the Sharma Platter with a side of falafel. It was delicious! Everything was tasty and fresh. After a long car buying experience nearby, we were hungry happened upon Mona Pita - OMG we are SO lucky. I never would have guessed that in this unassuming strip mall I'd find such delicious hummus and baba ghanoush - and I seriously think the best falafal I've ever had in my life (painful to say, after having Aviva by Khameel in ATL in that spot for like forever ... but this is superior). The service is delightful, the food clearly carries the love and the talent of the chef ... the only fault I can give it is that the ambiance is totally underwhelming ... but that's OK as my eyes were closed most of the time anyway, savoring the food! read more

Chef and owner Mona has been serving Mona Pita patrons since 2013. Mona prepares authentic Mediterranean food using her family recipes. Panysaurus over all is a very cool place (either location) but they have drastically different vibes - which in my book is a good thing. The Raleigh location has a smaller footprint and doesn't have the same outdoor patio vibe. The dinning area is a bit small but turn around is quick and there is plenty of space to stand and socialize if you're just there for the beer. I really love Ponysaurus beer, their pilsner is nice but their kolsch is my favorite. The Raleigh location menu has lots to choose from, we had a margarita pizza with pepperoni, hummus and wings. I can't recall what was in the hummus but we practically licked the bowl and the wings were a big hit too - note the Durham menu is a bit scaled down but one thing that's consistent with both locations is the amount of pita that came with the hummus. There is nothing worse than getting a huge bowl of hummus and only a few pieces of hummus or chips. Both locations knocked it out of the park - plenty of WARM pita for everyone. Service was great, we did't wait long and the tables were turned over quickly. They use a mobile app for ordering food which makes ordering fast and efficient and the food is delivered to your table - which I must note came out very fast.

Wow, this might be one of the best restaurants in Raleigh! I stopped in for a business dinner and…read morewas really excited to finally try one of Ashley Christensen's restaurants. Parking can be a bit challenging as you'll either need to find street parking or in a open lot near by. The restaurant itself is located in a historic building that once was a funeral home and also was also a tax practice in a different chapter. The restaurant feels very upscale but there isn't a strict dress code. The kitchen is open as well if yo prefer to sit along the kitchen and watch the chefs cook. When you order you'll have to place everything at the same time but they'll pace it out to your table. For drinks, I ordered the In Gold Blood (Bourbon, amaro, Fino sherry, banana, golden raisin) and the head in the clouds (Vodka, Falernum, strawberry, pistachio). Both drinks were excellent and extremely easy to drink. You'll definitely want to start with the sourdough bread, NC Oysters (Roasted NC oysters, chili butter, preserved lemon gremolata), and fried NC shrimp (Fried NC shrimp, buried garlic aioli, pickled green tomatoes). All of the appetizers were excellent in their own way. The bread and butter just complemented each other so well, the oysters were well balanced and almost seared where they weren't chargrilled but partially still raw, and the fried nc shrimp has a nice contrast of flavor with the pickled green tomatoes and fried shrimp. For the entree we split the Prime-aged Delmonico (ribeye; and was served in a red wine jus, and topped with sea salt and peppercorn). The steak fell apart as you bit into it. For sides, we ordered the crispy potatoes (Crispy potatoes, Italian chili crisp, piquillo peppers) and Brussel sprouts (Embered Brussels sprouts, apples, lardon vinaigrette, almonds). The steak and potatoes were definitely my favorite. The Brussel sprouts were good but a bit on the salad side where they were still a little hard. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake (Basque cheesecake, strawberry compote, olive oil shortbread) and the Sticky Toffee Pudding (Sticky toffee pudding, embered vanilla ice cream, benne seed brittle). The sticky toffee pudding was so warm and was excellent. The cheesecake also had a nice balance of flavor and the strawberry compote combination worked perfectly. This is by far one of my favorite meals I've had in Raleigh and you definitely need to go here if you are in the area.

While the food left me somewhat underwhelmed, the cocktails were exceptional, among the best I've had in recent memory. The standout was the Over/Under, a beet-infused gin take on a Negroni. Absolutely phenomenal. The earthy beet notes were subtle but present, complementing the bitterness of the Campari, the floral qualities of the gin, and just enough sweetness to tie everything together. Every cocktail I tried was excellent, but this was the clear winner. As for the food, it never quite reached the same heights. The beef tartare was the best dish I had all evening. In fact, I found myself enjoying it more on the accompanying sourdough bread than on the rice crisps it was served with, which ultimately justified ordering the bread. The "pickled egg yolk" was an inventive twist, essentially replacing both the raw egg and cornichons found in a traditional French tartare. Clever in concept, but the pickling process seemed to sacrifice some of the creamy richness that the dish could have benefited from. The rice crisp accompaniment is also part of a trend I've noticed at several restaurants and one I'm not particularly sold on. They're usually too brittle to hold much tartare and often end up scattered across the plate. I find they work better crushed into the tartare itself than as a delivery vehicle. The oysters were the biggest disappointment of the meal. Heavily drenched in butter, they felt one-dimensional, with the lemon zest providing the only real counterbalance. To be fair, this is likely intended as a shared dish, and as a solo diner consuming the entire portion myself, the richness may have become more pronounced than intended. The gnocchi delivered deep, satisfying flavor and were impressively light, though perhaps a touch too soft for my personal preference. As I glanced over at the roast chicken being served to the couple next to me, a sense of ordering regret began to creep in. What ultimately elevates Death & Taxes is its hospitality. The service was genuinely five-star. Every dish was explained thoughtfully as it was delivered, and the bar team struck that perfect balance of attentiveness and conversation, making a solo diner feel completely welcome. Their warmth and professionalism raised this experience from a three-star meal to a four-star evening. And they are all 5 star.

Even the guava cookie had a very faint fruity flavor and mainly tasted like sugar. Many times I have noticed that the unique flavors are just in the frosting not the cookie itself.
