The atmosphere is amazing. Some people were wearing suits just getting off work and my fiancé and I had on active wear. We all fit in just fine here. The food was great and the bourbon selection was absolutely crazy. They had multiple flight options to choose from so if there's a bourbon you usually enjoy you can choose it's flight and most likely try a selection of theirs you haven't tried. Tiffany, our waitress, was absolutely incredible. Bathrooms were incredibly clean. Staff were incredibly accommodating as a whole. We're not big fancy food eaters so we stuck with the Wagyu burgers with Pimento cheese fries as an appetizer. I ordered mine medium and it came out perfect; nice and juicy. My husband ordered his medium-well and it came out very well done, but he said it still tasted good. They also didn't put any toppings on his, only cheese. He had ordered it with ketchup and Mayo. The sweet potato mash was akin to a sweet potato casserole and was delicious. My sweet potato fries had some type of coating on them, and they too were really good. The pimento fries were good, but not $9 good. The portion was equivalent to a side of fries at most restaurants. Ranch was Hidden Valley style. I'm a ranch lover and I would think they would have made theirs in house, but that was no biggy, we still really enjoyed the meal. Our waitress was wonderful. We did mention my husbands burger issues to our waitress after we got the check as we didn't want any discount, just to give feedback. She said it was actually a pretty common mistake. For $16 they should be able to not mess up a burger, but as I stated it was still good and my husband said he would get it again. He's one of those that will not send food back. He could order chicken and they could send a piece of fish and he would just deal with it. They made the chix sandwiches without skipping a beat (originally just grilled chix meal). Homemade fries. Buffalo chicken dumplings were good. While exploring local downtown Charleston restaurants on a sleepy Thursday we happened upon Hale House and discovered that's where all the activity was! Our short wait was worth it. I travel a lot for work and I tend to eat dinner by myself often. One of my biggest pet peeves is when the server rushes me out the door. That is what Hale House did to me. The food was ok, nothing to write home about but there weren't many choices in the area. I started with the fried mozzarella because it looked really good on the website. It was nothing special. I did like the chunks of stewed tomatoes in the sauce the mozzarella was laid on. I followed with a house salad. A bed of wilted iceberg lettuce, a few half slices of cucumber and tomatoes. They didn't have Italian dressing or even a balsamic vinaigrette so I went with plain oil and vinegar. In the middle of eating my salad, the entree was brought out. Come on really, let me eat the salad paid for first. I had the prime rib. It was cooked ok but a bunch of gristle. The french fries were cold. Ok, so I proceed to eat the entree and finish it. I then went back to my salad. That is when the server came over and started to remove my plates, utensils and even the leftover salad dressing. All this while I still eating. Then she asks if I left room for desert. Maybe she should have waited until I was finished eating first. I'm sorry but this just rubs me the wrong way. It is not even like the food was great. I don't think I would go back. It was the same quality meal that a Texas Roadhouse or Outback except those places don't try to rush a single diner like Hale House did to me tonight. read more

The staff was just amazing, our waitress was Tiffany and she was helpful and very sweet person. The managers we very helpful with staff and making sure everything was running smooth. The drinks were great, I got the black cherry mojito it was perfect! Husband got the peanut butter whiskey and he was blown away with the flavor. The grilled chicken was juicie not dried out and the sweet potato mash was the best thing we had. Next time we will have to save room for desert. read more

The service was excellent. The sirloin I ordered well I will be honest, I ordered it med that was fine, it was the toughest sirloin I had ever had at any restaurant. The marinade was definitely to salty as well. I would have rather had a prime rib but they didn't serve it on Tuesday. The ambience is good, but if it's a cold day and you are near the door, they have no wind break and the cold pours in.The salad was good and the red potatoes I had was as well. Had a dinner and drinks here Tuesday with family to celebrate an achievement. I love the elegant but laid back atmosphere. The speak easy is a nice bonus too. On to the food...Crab cake and shrimp cocktail apps were both fabulous. Dinner dishes were equally great! I had the caprese salad with salmon, my son had the prime rib sandwich with au jus and loaded pimento fries, and my husband had the wagyu burger with sweet potato fries. We'd each definitely recommend any of them. They are doing a fundraiser this month with 360 vodka, so I ordered one of their 360 peach vodka creations to try and had to have another. My guys had bourbons cause Hale House has one of the best selections around. Courtney was our server and was friendly, attentive, and did a great job. Ask for her if you stop in. read more

I meant to write a review. Been here twice already and I think I'm already a regular customer. And everytime I go I have a good experience. My Dad is friends with a friend with the owner which is really cool. If you go the owner comes out every now and then to talk to customers which is really nice of him. I love the selection of whisky and bourbon. There is so much to chose from. I love that there is hard to get bourbons on the menu. Never been to a place that has such a big selection of whisky and bourbons. And I love that you can get mixed drinks with whisky or bourbon. And the Salmon is the best Salmon I have had at a restaurant. One of the best restaurants in the Kanawha Valley. read more

I wanted to love this place. The atmosphere was nice. And the Speak Easy downstairs was cool. But the food was not what I expect when leaving home for a meal. My salmon was completely raw in the center. And the sweet potato dish was just sugary and meh. It's was very hard to hear to have a conversation with my friends and service was just ok. I would probably give it one more try because as I said, I wanted to love it. read more

Strange to say but the asparagus is Mack Daddy! Some crispy mozzarella on top and Shazam! I had the Ahi and a filet for the main course, both were excellent. The mood and atmosphere are all too notch. Excellent cocktails to top it all off, but the height of the meal was the asparagus, it changed my day. read more

I know COVID is doing some weird stuff but why does one place serve you food on PLASTIC plates while the next is Fine Dining with regular plates? And your Bourbon might be slightly extensive you would never be able to tell by the way it's displayed, wait until those sloppy shelves break - what a waste. Your bartender doesn't even know some of the high end bourbons we were asking about. And I get an Old Fashion in numerous places and for a Bourbon Bistro you don't have 1 Large Ice Cube or Sphere but instead water down my Old Fashion with Ice Chips? Very nice, high end (for Charleston anyway) restaurant with a bar inside. Expect to pay premium prices for the food, but the beer is cheap considering it's downtown. Very nice looking place, with a professional crowd. This is the type of place that doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, nurses, and other professionals like to meet up at, and hang out. Most people there are well dressed, so if you go in jeans and a t-shirt you will feel out of place. Bartenders were nice and very prompt in their service. read more

Amazing venue ! Great food, great service, and even tastier dishes. I tried the "wagyu burger" & my company had a "drunken ribeye". (10/10). For starters, we had "buffalo chicken tenders" and the "wagyu meatball". The tenders were to "die for" and the meatball was superb. Our waiter was top notch, always checked us, always could be found, and our glasses stayed full. The restaurant itself was very clean, balanced, and it could get loud at times but it was well worth it. Will visit again!! read more
