I love taro milk tea so would've drank it, but I HATE boba so I told the cashier it was the wrong order which he made it seem like I was wrong. I could hear him talking to the worker in the back about the drink and I don't know what the worker told him, but I heard the cashier loud and clear saying "What am I suppose to do then? Went back here while I was in the area and had the Ice milk w/ Coffee Jelly and honey boba and the Grass Jelly Ice milk w/ honey boba. I'd have to say the coffee jelly was good though I wish it had more of a coffee kick. I want to say that out of all the Half & Half locations, this one is probably the best. I used to frequent the one on Gale because parking is a bit easier, but the drinks always taste diluted. Just visited this one again and curing Covid-19 times, I called ahead to place my order just to avoid having to wait in line. The cashier took my order and even asked in how many minutes I would arrive. When I got there, I paid and my drink came out 30 seconds later. Got my usual brown sugar milk tea, K got the Bo's Coffee, and they were delicious and refreshing. Even he commented, unsolicited, that his drink tasted better and had more flavor than the previous one we had gotten just a few weeks ago from the Gale location. This place is a hit or miss. If you come during their busy times expect to wait longer than 20 minutes for ONE DRINK. Not only did I have to wait longer than 20 minutes for one drink but they did it incorrectly. Sadly these drinks are a bit over price/pricey so I decided to not suck it up and let them know that the drink was wrong. Well that kid was not happy about that. He gave me attitude and even had the nerve to ask the cashier to see if she remembered what I ordered which made me feel like he was accusing me of lying. Please! I had already wasted my time there that the last thing I wanted was attitude. He did end up remaking my drink but no apology at all. I know it's early, but no line = boba faster. It's a win win. My favorite boba to get is the Lychee Green Tea with the new Q ball boba. The parking lot isn't too small so I've never had any trouble with it. I love that the menu has a wide variety! I've tried a few drinks here, and unlike other boba shops, they're very consistent with the flavor of the tea and the texture of the boba. The iced milk drinks, especially the ones with syrup such as the strawberry one, tend to be on the sweeter side. Other than that, their flavored tea and milk teas are always made to perfection in my opinion. My favorite is the osmanthus oolong milk tea, which is very light and has a perfect balance between the milkiness and tea flavor. P.S. This is actually one of the worst Boba places if not THE worst I've ever been to. These are strong words considering I've been to a few really bad places (One place hygiene so bad I found a fly in my drink, another was a legendary place known for closing 3 times and rebranding cuz' despite their godlike location/interior the drinks always suck, and the last where I was the only customer but I had to watch the employees fumble for 30 minutes to make one drink; the wrong drink too). Anyway, one of my friends who used to go here regularly 3 years ago said this place was amazing, so since we're back in the area, we decided to give it a try. So first things first, I check yelp and the recent reviews are pretty mediocre which is already a big red flag. Then next, I read the reviews that say the prices of drinks rose from 3 dollars to 6 for a regular and I'm like, damn-- 6 dollars for a drink means they must be really good or overcharging the shit out of people. Now, price isn't an issue if the drinks are good, but these were straight up trash. My friend ordered for our group of 3, so we ended up getting taro milk green tea, thai tea, and green tea. Green Tea - Somehow disgusting and fucked up, friend took a sip and said he was tossing it. I tried too, it sucked. Thai Tea - It's beyond me how you fuck up a basic staple. This ended up tossed as well because my friend is picky, but it was at least borderline drinkable, but not enjoyable. Taro tea - Same as the thai tea above, but I just drank nearly half of this because I'm a dumbass who hates wasting money. The "taro" was actually disgusting, I have no idea what the fuck was up with the taste and texture. The drink was once again, drinkable but not enjoyable. If I weren't somebody who is dumb enough to always try to finish his food/drink, I would have dumped this immediately too. On the plus, the portions of drinks were pretty big but what the fuck does that matter when everything is bad? Out of 3 drinks, 2 were tossed in the garbage after a sip and none were enjoyable. My friends ended up going to Aroma Tea and buying 2 more cups of boba for themselves; it was actually good. Honestly, I'm just really surprised this place is still in business. At least for T4 in Walnut Creek, it's the only place within miles so they can be mediocre as they want due to total lack of competition. But this place, what the fuck? They literally have NOTHING to offer. Boba Guys has fresh boba, some places have fresh fruit, other places put themselves to exceptional levels of hygiene/customer service(think free exchanges if you don't like your drink level of service), others give easy options for customization(Think T4), some are amazing hangout/study spots, some rely on gimmicks to improve the uniqueness of their drinks, some are really cheap because the cost to produce most teas is nothing, some have unique options, but this place literally offers nothing. You are paying a price premium to get nothing in return. The good reviews from this place must be from the same people who think Burger King and Olive Garden are good. After hearing all the hype about Half & Half, I finally tried it out. I honestly didn't think it was that great. Maybe I didn't order the correct drink here, but it didn't stand out to me. I ordered the lychee green tea with boba. I could barely taste the lychee... It just tasted like watered down green tea. I was pretty bummed. The boba is pretty good though. Unfortunately, it's not often that I can frequent this fine location. Although, I have been coming here for years whenever I was in the area. I first recall trying half and half years ago when my good friend brought this immense cup of milk tea to the library ( that's right in the library... we were such rebels) and I've been hooked ever since. First thing I noticed visiting was that the Plaza now sports at least two new bobba-like stores. The competition has become fierce and I don't know if it was because we went rather late or because of said stores but it's a lot more empty than I remember. Regardless, I still very much enjoyed my milk tea. It was just the right combination of flavors and aside from the new style cup everything was as I remembered. The service was pretty good as the young woman at the register was friendly and helpful. The only thing I found odd was that it did take a little longer than I expected to get our drinks as we were one of the few orders. There is no sign that's eye level saying to stay outside. They have their wooden chair with a small sign stuck to it saying one group allowed inside only with grammatical errors. I didn't see it until I walked OUT the door because who really looks down at their feet. I only looked down so I wouldn't kick the darn thing in the way because it was a one way walkway and one door. Was the sign made for out 4 legged friends? Because I'm pretty sure they can't read. Because that's the height of the sign, no one can see that... Even with a phone order you have to wait in the normal line with everyone else regardless of you placing an order or picking up...even after you wait in that line for the phone order you still have to wait after you pay...what's the point of saying we will be there at X time when they ask and not have the drink ready? They have great boba here. It's chewy and comparable to the Taiwan ones. One of the fascinating discovery was the sesame balls that my friend recommended. I'm not sure how to explain what is so good about it, but it is a great addition to some honey lemon tea. One of the thing I have to ponder about is the wait they make us go through. Regardless of how many people are waiting, there is an average 10+ minutes before receiving your order. My go-to place for cold drinks on a hot afternoon. Much better than the older Lollicup or Quickly establishments. Come here for milk teas, boba, and pudding drinks. They also have a tea menu, but their iced milk drinks are much more popular. Minus one star for retarded parking lot. I like to park behind Petco to avoid having my car being scratched by the bad drivers around here. There's more room parking space. The store itself is squished between Cold Stone and Phoenix. Lots of selections. Boba quality is good. Feels like it's about $0.50-$1.00 more than it should be when comparing to competitors. Like their stamp card program. read more
