I dunno what happened to this spot. Maybe new management/owner, but it's gone downhill in the last year or so. I have really given it way too many chances, but I think I'm done. it's been disappointing every single time. The drinks are decent, but there's really no excuse for how long it takes to fulfill orders. During my recent visit, I walked in and noticed there weren't any employees anywhere so that worried me....first thought was "here we go again....ill be waiting a while." I used the kiosk to order and I still haven't seen any staff making drinks or acknowledging the nice lady who was waiting to order or ask a question. She eventually walked out looking super irritated. About 8-10 minutes passed and I was still waiting....for one drink. An employee came running in and headed to the back and that's when another person emerged from the back. Now drinks were finally starting to be made. There were a few people there waiting for their orders as well. I waited another 10 minutes for my drink. Don't even get me started on how hot and uncomfortable it was inside... I hope they really figure out their issues with efficiency & customer service because waiting 15-20 mins for a milk tea with boba is pretty ridiculous. read more

My drink was good and not overly sweet. It was a papaya frappe but I didn't really taste papaya. It had a faint coconut taste to it so I'm not sure if coconut water or milk was added. There wasn't any fruits in my drink or pulp fibers. I think their fruit drinks are either from concentrate or syrup flavorings. The way my drink was blended wasn't thorough. I had many ice cubes that were not crushed. When I finished my drink there was at least 5 ice cubes sitting on the bottom of the cup. The lady helping me was nice and made the drink quick. I had a hard time hanging out there because the seating area was small and the music was a bit too loud for me. Parking: parking lot available and shared with other stores. Hawaii POG with boba: orange juice with other fruit like passion fruit. Thailem Lime mint with boba: bit tart because it's lime instead of lemon, sour and sweet like lemonade. Popcorn chicken (spiciest level): bit salty depending on the chicken piece. DIGUSTING MOLD IN THEIR DRINKS AND THE SERVICE IS SLOW!I'm pretty understanding when it's just one person working but it took 30 minutes just 2 drinks. No toppings or adjustments just a basic To top it off the drinks weren't even good. Very basic and flavorless. Not impressed given that there's plenty of other boba shops close by that are muc h better. Also, there's mold at the bottom of their cups. As far as the Drinks being super good, the games and the atmosphere is welcoming. I didn't get greeted or spoken to at all until the transaction was done. It would have saved us some time if the person behind the counter would have told us to order from the kiosks and that's the only way because the sign said something along the lines of saving time which seems like an option. Fix the customer service or create a sign that says "Must Order Here" and not make it seem like an empty space without being busy the person can't take the order. read more

Before visiting my family in Walnut wanted to check out this boba shop since it's on the way there. I don't know what's going on the building says Uncle Tea but my cup says FULI which I believe used to be in Glendale. Anyways I stopped by around 1:30 on a Sunday. This plaza isn't that busy considering they have a lot of restaurants and shops here. There was only one worker helping with ordering and making drinks. Boba shops should have a minimum of 2 employees. Maybe there's one in the back making food orders. But employee was working hard on everyone's order and even greeted everyone. I ordered from too good to go app to see what they would give away. I checked in when worker was done making order from previous guest. Got 2 drinks, I didn't ask what it was but tasted like some iced peach tea with blueberry popping boba. Their cups are super cute with the capybaras, I also like their straws. Wanted a boba after dinner so came to try this place out on Friday. First things first it's really small and hot in here. I was sweating by the time I started ordering. There was one worker behind the counter. Seemed like he had a lot to do. No smile or anything when taking our order but he also wasn't rude. I ordered a Thai tea and a taro smoothie. It was alright. Uncle Tea was one of my favorite tea shops during the pandemic, so I was excited when I returned and saw that they had remodeled their storefront and menu. I had the opportunity to try three of their specialty teas, all of which were good for the simple fact that they weren't overly sweet. I'm usually someone who drinks my boba at 25-50% sweetness, and I was happy with my choices at their regular sweetness. My favorite that I tried was the Thailem, which was super refreshing and probably tastes great with boba! My least favorite would probably be the Coconut Throne because I didn't love the texture of the coconut pudding, and the flavors of the drink were super subtle. I also tried their waffle "Cheese slippers" which is exactly what it sounds like I'm not too keen on cheese, so I liked that it wasn't an overload of cheese inside. The batter was typical for a boba shop waffle, not too sweet and pretty light. All in all I'm happy with the changes that they've done at Uncle Tea and I'll definitely be back to try more. read more

Uncle Tea is a solid boba joint hidden in the Walnut area. I tend to come here if I end up passing the Amar and Nogales intersections. Prices are fair in today's market and the drinks are pretty tasty. They have a cashier, and a tablet for self service. I usually get one of their milk teas such as the oolong, since it is my favorite. The store itself is pretty spacious with a couple of tables to sit at should you choose to dine in. I stopped by Uncle Tea in West Covina after a massage next door because I noticed a steady stream of people going in and figured why not, but honestly the experience left me shrugging more than anything else. I tried the waffle and asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream with it since the other option was going to take almost 20 minutes, and the guy working there, Max, was hesitant at first but eventually gave it to me. Max was genuinely nice, probably the highlight of the visit, but the waffle itself came plain with no sauce or toppings and when I asked about it, he said people just come for the waffle taste which felt kind of anticlimactic. The waffle was just okay, nothing I'd crave again, and the taro drink with boba started off tasting like it had no flavor at all until both my friend and I agreed it wasn't sweet, which would've been fine if that's what we ordered but we just asked for a regular one. At least the service was quick, though it wasn't really busy, and the restroom situation was odd with a cramped, messy vibe in the back. Eugh, I REALLY dislike leaving 1 star reviews and I generally only do so if I feel like the business was disappointing or even upsetting in any way shape or form (think business owners or employees tryna fight me), but the fact that we had to throw out like 90% of what we ordered here was super NOT GOOD. I HATE wasting food like that. I'm generally not a picky eater either and I'm usually the designated "human trashcan" for when I hang out with friends and we have to finish a lot of food or not everyone's a fan of what we ordered. I couldn't do that for what we ordered at Uncle Tea and I even deferred this role to my father who is the OG designated "human trashcan" and even he couldn't do it. Now THAT is saying a lot. We got the: 1) Thai Green Tea: -Ordered this with less ice and half sweet but this is still so grossly scathingly sweet. I couldn't even take more than 2 sips of this and it wasn't even salvageable if I added my own fridge milk to this. Sadly had to be tossed out completely. 2) CocoMelon: -Tasted weirdly overly ripe, like the melon part? -Mix that with the thick sweetness of the coconut milk (also asked for this less sweet), just made it unappetizing. This was another drink that had to be tossed. 3) Coconut Slush: -Perhaps it's the slushie part with the ice mixed in that watered this down enough to be drinkable. Once again adjusted sweetness but still pretty sweet. Not great either way, unfortunately. 4) Ube Creme Brulee: -The best of the bunch. Made with real ube. -Also, once again pretty sweet even with adjustments. Definitely more of a dessert than a drink with the thickness and sweetness level. Had to dilute this one only because we wanted to drink it. -Although this was the best of the bunch, it would pale in comparison to other boba places that serve something equivalent. 5) Cheesey Egg Rolls: -I regret getting this so much. It was a unique fried snack that I haven't seen anywhere else so I ordered it but aside from splitting one of these egg rolls between 4 people to initially try, we had to toss out the rest. -Super greasy and oily due to the outer egg roll wrapping and how fried it was. It's just instant noodles inside but it's not seasoned or flavored at all. These cheese is just some regular cheddar shredded cheese I'm sure. -There's this weird bitter, somewhat "ripe" taste to these. I'm not sure how to explain it other than imagine something you left out in the heat or sun for a bit too long and it's not longer good to eat. Disappointing and very unappetizing. 6) Fries: -Soggy and sad, but were alright after air frying them. -I'm sure even in their prime they'd just be alright. 7) Yangoon Mix: -It's 6 fried dessert rangoons filled with fresh banana and taro, dusted with powdered sugar. Also very oily, but of all that we ordered, it was not so bad. -Liked that they used real fruit and taro at least. Of this entire order, we only finished the fries completely after tossing them in an air fryer at home and the deep fried desserts. My brother and I tag teamed the ube creme brulee after diluting it with milk. Although this place is pretty close to me, I'd trek out the extra couple of blocks to other boba options nearby. read more

Got the Ube Mess with Sea Salt foam. It comes with boba and I asked for half sweet. Saw it was a new and popular item on the menu and it was my first time here so I went for it. I'm not sure if it was because I asked for half sweet but the ube flavor wasn't very present. It almost immediately melted into the milk and the drink was just white. The boba was chewy but didn't have much flavor. The sea salt foam was decent. There was only one cup size which was equivalent to a large at most places and came out to ~$6 so it wasn't too expensive. Drink was overall just ok. I've been coming here on and off for the past year and a half and always got Coconut Thrones and this drink is always so delicious. It's not too sweet and coconut taste is solid unlike other places where its watered down. Yesterday I took my mom to Dr Galvan, dentist in the same plaza and I ordered the Matchango. Its was out of this world, one of the best Ive ever had ( my other favorite is Matcha mango drink isl from Motto) . Again not too sweet and the flavor balance of mango, matcha and mango was absolutely perfect. This place is always clean including the bathroom. The only thing with this place is there's always a wait 10min+ before you get your drink. I had a chance to watch the 2 young ladies make the drinks yesterday and they do take their time to make them. They were very precise with measuring and making sure the drink is made well. I don't mind the wait if Im getting perfect drinks each time. I ordered my mom Mango Passion fruthie which she loved. When the first time arrived, I thought that the tea shop did not offer customer restroom, so I was disappointment, but then wanted to drive around so I went in. After I ordered, I had the urge to ask why they don't offer the restaurant to the customer, then the cashier explained that actually they do offer a restroom to the customer, then no bathroom sign was specifically to let public know that it's not free for non-customer to use the restroom due to some difficulty with either food restaurant in the same plaza who is the customer continuously coming here to use the restroom for free. so they DO HAVE RESTROOM FOR CUSTOMERS! The Seatings are limited but good enough to sit down and get some work done a couple hours! Perfect for me, who always on the computer and in need of new w environment eventually few hours! Came by here after having lunch at XLB to grab some boba! My friend and I came right when they opened and there was a line already out the door so this place has been pretty popular the last few years since it opened! Drinks that were ordered: 1. Ube mess milk tea 2. Strawberry matcha milk tea Our drinks came out pretty fast after we ordered and I thought that the ube mess had a good amount of ube mixed in with the milk tea to make it on the more heavy side but that was something I was craving at the time. I will say it veered to being a little milky for my taste but once I mixed it, it was great and delicious! My friend also enjoyed her drink and thought that there was a good blend of strawberry and matcha and that it wasn't too sweet for her but just right! Their decor is simple and there are plenty of tables to sit at and I can see myself studying here for a couple hours when I need to. They also have several games on the side that you can play with your friends or family! Drinks here are a little on the more expensive side but I would say you are getting quality drinks for what you are spending!
