Enjoyed a weekday lunch recently while in town. Amazing service, fantastic food, & great prices. I had the half shell salad and shrimp po 'boy. It was delicious. I love their house made vinaigrette dressing on the salad. The salad was fresh and filling. I shared it with my husband. The po'boy contained a generous amount of fried shrimp, along with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. I got it with mayo on the side. My husband had the uptowner steak sandwich with jalapeño hush puppies. He really enjoyed his food too. Minor item...they need to do some heavy cleaning of their chandeliers as I really noticed the dust on them. We have eaten here in many occasions and always have had a great experience. Good service and great food until tonight! We arrived around 5:40PM and joined the waitlist. There were a number of tables downstairs and we prefer those. We were a party of five. Hostess said they were waiting for a table to clear and we said OK even though there was plenty of room to combine a four top and a two top. After waiting 40 minutes, the waiters began putting tables together for two large parties downstairs and still no table for us. It became obvious that those tables had been reserved even though Half Shell has a no reservation policy! We finally took a table upstairs and the service snd food were outstanding as usual. Upon leaving I informed the manager on duty that we nor anyone we know will return until they institute a reservation policy. The manager admitted that those tables were reserved on orders from higher up! Again, I'll be sure to tell all of our friends about this situation. read more

Easy walk from Boa Rivage casino, I have maybe two martini a year as I'm not a vodka drinker and this one did not disappoint! Oysters were amazing, shrimp were a little soft/ limp, then Was not a fan of Red fish with sauce and bacon but I think a personal preference.I didn't care for the actual fish. Had my birthday dinner here & had a great time overall! Grilled oyster sampler was phenomenal as was our blackened & Parmesan crusted Mahi Mahis. I ordered the jalapeño hush puppies & fried okra & my wife got a side of the mashed potatoes and Caesar salad. For dessert I got a chocolate martini & blueberry cobbler white chocolate cheesecake. Service was fine, great ambiance. My only critique is the blueberry cheesecake was supposed to be served with a compote but they ran out so they served the cheesecake by itself, which was a little disappointing because it was dry & plain & looked nothing like the picture they advertised without the compote. We were not told in advance that they were out of the compote & our server caught it & brought it back to ask the manager after we had eaten half of it. It was at that point they said they were out & brought it back out to us half eaten while still charging us the full price for it... Good customer service/management would've offered to take the item off the check or offered to replace it with something else because this was an error on their part, but nothing was done which was disappointing, especially for my birthday dessert. It had just a tad too much creole mustard. The Half Shell salad was good-if I ordered it again I would drop the avocado. I should have asked what was in it. It was a little over dressed, and I usually get dressing on the side for that reason. The entrees were very good. We had a kids chicken wiyu fruit, and they were fresh pieces not garbage. I had the shrimp and grits. It was well done. It could have had a tad less sauce, but it wasn't swimming in it. Hubs had the red fish, and the sauce was a little too oily. We went to the one in Biloxi. It was my birthday. The lady that was seating us was very rude. I told her I did not want upstairs. And where did she try to put us. Yes. Well I told her again and she keep saying well you only waited so many minutes. When we finally got our table after being talked to like I was a child. The waiter was very slow. The food was not what I expected. We have one here in Lafayette La. The first time we tried it we were not impressed. My sister in laws bragged about the one in Biloxi. There is no way to order something small here. I had the royal redfish with a side of cheesy grits. When in Biloxi you MUST have the royal red shrimp because it is a local delicacy that is a much sweeter shrimp with incredible flavor. I order my food over the phone.When I got there, I walked to the bar area to pick up my order. It was two waitresses and a manager standing behind the bar. No one greeted me or turned around for at least 10 to 15 minutes when the waitress finally came over, she asked me if I needed it help. I told her I was there to pick up my order. I paid for my order. when I got my food, it was cold. The pot pie was so soggy. The grits were about three spoonful so was the mashed sweet potatoes. Overall, the food was not good.
