food: can't go wrong with malatang! had it 3x in a span of a week LOL! i will say the soup portion is pretty inconsistent. it hit everytime though, super flavorful service: it STAYS PACKED. i'm not from the area, and malatang back home is never as busy. takes a while for your food to be ready, but not bad ambiance: plenty of seating, but sometimes it gets so packed that u have to wait

YGF Malatang definitely lives up to the hype! The restaurant was packed, but the atmosphere still felt clean, lively, and welcoming. I really enjoyed how customizable everything was, from the fresh ingredients to the different noodle choices, it made the experience fun and personal. The broth was the highlight for me: rich, flavorful, and comforting without being overly heavy. We got #1 which is classic herbal it's not that spicy as they say more on the light mild spicy. However, #6 has no spice at all, so it's perfect for the kids. We got the chicken broth for them with their favorite udon noodles (there's so many types of noodles.) We paid around $45 with two bowls, it honestly fed my family of 4 and my daughter can eat, eat! :P You can really taste the quality in the food. Service was also smooth and efficient despite how busy it was, and the staff kept things moving quickly. Overall, one of the best malatang spots I've been to so far. Great food, great ambience, and perfect for anyone who loves building their own bowl exactly how they want it. Ps. If you do a review here or Google they will give you a cute magnet or keychain in which my daughter got so she's very happy with her tiny noodle magnet.

Bowl with whatever you want in your soup

I've been here a few times now and it has always been very delicious. You start off by grabbing a bowl and adding everything you could possibly want in it, from different noodles, meat, and seafood. Once your bowl is full, you take it up front to get weighed and there you'll have your option to choose which broth you'd like, I believe there are 4 different options. They also have a variety of boba to choose from. Service is good, noodles come out quick and there is always plenty of seating.

Oh YGF, how I love this place. No matter how packed it gets, I'm still coming back. Even though I visit often, I wanted to share one of my recent experiences because it really stood out. You get to customize your own bowl here, choosing whatever ingredients you like along with your soup base and spice level, which I absolutely love. I came with a party of six on a super busy day, and the place was absolutely slammed. When we received our food, I noticed my broth had been switched--I had ordered tom yum, but I received beef bone broth instead. I brought it up to the staff, and they immediately apologized and took care of it without any hesitation. Even though they were clearly overwhelmed with customers lining out the door, they handled everything so kindly and professionally. After they corrected the broth and brought my malatang back, the manager even came by several times to check on our table. It wasn't necessary, but it was such a thoughtful touch and really made us feel cared for. Overall, amazing food and even better service, especially considering how busy they were that day. Definitely one of my go-to spots.

This is a malatang franchise located in a strip mall of Tukwila, close to the Westfield mall. It was packed when we visited, but we were seated right away. Malatang was essentially premade hotpot. You pick the items from the fridge and they boil it for you in the soup base of your choice. They have none spicy soup base and they will customize the salt level if you ask. Ingredients were fresh and costs $14.99 per pound which was a steal. Very family friendly and parking is outside.

Tldr: goto hotpot in the area. Tomato soup is my fave! They also have Boba Ambience: lots of seating but nearly not enough during the rush! Its very clean and organize. The seats are not my favorite, I prefer sitting in the booth. Service: super quick. Friendly, and helpful when you ask questions about anything! Food: I love the soup!!! I usually get tomato soup and I can't try anything else I'm stuck in tomato for now. It's 14.99/lb. Halal/veggie soup options if ur in a group and worried. You can also adjust the spice level.

YGF MalaTang is the perfect place to stop by during a quick lunch break. I love how easy it is to customize and order whatever you want here. This time around I brought my boyfriend to try it out. He isn't the biggest fan of pay by the pound, especially for hot pot places like YGF. However, we both did fairly well with how many ingredients we added in. I kept mine under a pound. His was under two pounds. It wasn't too busy when we visited, so we were able to snag a table without any issues. I will be coming back again!

Perfect comfort food! This place is a gem for cold days. You pick your ingredients and pay by the pound, so there's zero waste and 100% satisfaction. They have a huge variety of ingredients from fresh greens to seafood and specialty noodles. The Sour & Sweet Tomato base is a must-try--the broth is so rich and flavorful. For those who like something a bit more adventurous and spicy, the Tom Yum is a great choice. The restaurant is spotless, the service is welcoming, and the self-serve sauce station is a great bonus. Highly recommended for a clean and delicious customized hot pot experience!

Very nice little spot. Fresh veggies and good quality proteins. Some items were frozen, so that adds unnecessary weight to the entire bowl. The heavier the bowl, the more you pay. The soup base was average and a bit salty. The YFG in California tastes better. I still enjoyed the meal.

    Catherine T.

I love YGF. If you haven't tried malatang then give this place a try. It's always crowded, but we're always able to find a seat somehow. You pick out what food you'd like in your soup from the fridge and then you choose a soup when you pay. You pay by weight and the bowl is tared. I'd recommend getting the beef bone broth which is super flavorful and has a slight kick.

I have been to a different location before, so I knew I was going to like it, but this location is special! I noticed right off the back how much bigger this location was! Plenty of tables for people to sit at. I liked the accents of orange color and the tasteful decorations on the wall that didn't do too much. I was also pleased with the variety of food options available to put into your bowl from the noodles, vegetables, meat, seafood, and some exotic options too! It was almost overwhelming! They did a good job of getting the food out pretty quickly, even if it was a weekend! Definitely a favorite!

This is one of my go-to lunch spots - it's quick, easy, and has so many options depending on what you're in the mood for. I usually go for the beef bone broth, extra spicy, and build my own bowl with noodles, veggies, and plenty of meat. It's super customizable, which I love. Pricing is around $14 per pound, so it can be as light or as filling as you want. Perfect for days when you're either starving or just want something simple. The sauce bar is also a highlight - they even have recipe ideas if you're not sure what to mix. Service is always great. The staff are really helpful, especially when it comes to setting up tables for larger groups, and everything moves quickly. Depending on the time and crowd, it can be a quick in-and-out lunch or a more relaxed meal - but either way, you really can't go wrong with good soup and a great atmosphere.

This location is a bit smaller, but the food was a lot faster. There is no sushi bar at this location. I ordered the beef pho and spring rolls. The location is quite convenient for the area, the inside was a bit crowded and noisy, but it was a Saturday night. The bar area was tidy and there were a good number of seats open. The food took under 20 minutes to come out and was above average in taste and quality. We just went for food, I would recommend this place for their pho and spring rolls.

While searching for places to eat, we found Fortune Casino and loved the menu we saw (especially since so many places were closed by the point of midnight). There's an abundant array of tables inside and the ambience is definitely more on the divey side. Service was solid - the workers really took care of us - and the food was amazing. We ordered the following: - Pork Belly: DELICIOUS. An absolute heavy hitter after traveling. - Wings with garlic butter: Immaculate and so so tasty. We didn't know what to expect from this one but it changed our lives, haha. This place is 24 hours, so I highly highly recommend dropping by if you're in the area. The quality of the different Asian dishes here is amazing and it's definitely legit (this place puts all the Vegas casinos with "Asian" restaurants to shame!). Can't wait to return here!

How does Xiaolongbao create soup out of "thin air"? The…read moresecret to the origin of Xiaolongbao lies in a core technique: "pork skin jelly" (aspic). Long before modern gelling agents existed, ancient chefs discovered that simmering pork skin releases rich collagen, which solidifies into a gelatinous jelly once cooled. This jelly is then minced and folded into the meat filling. When wrapped in the delicate dough and blasted with high steam, the solid jelly melts back into a rich, savory broth. This clever culinary science gave rise to the famous 12-character dining mantra passed down through generations: "Lift it gently, move it slowly, poke a window, and sip the soup." "Din Tai Fung is a renowned catering enterprise originating from Taiwan. I actually had the privilege of speaking with the founder once. Din Tai Fung is most famous for its near-strict production standardization. For instance, each xiaolongbao is mandated to have exactly 5 grams of dough and 16 grams of filling, and must be precisely pleated with 18 folds. This meticulous craftsmanship is the core secret behind how it successfully promoted this Jiangzhe-originated delicacy to the global stage." Ambience: I've always held a theory called the "Storefront Strategy"--to catch people's eyes inside a shopping mall, you need a massive, dynamic facade. Having chefs crafting dim sum live behind the window serves as an excellent live promotion; it imprints the brand onto people's minds. The overall environment here is fantastic. Service: Top-notch and elegant. Flavor: To be completely honest, the flavor profile here differs vastly from what you find in Asia. I've conversed with many chefs, and there is no "secret recipe." Every single one of them told me: "Just use a heavy hand with the seasoning, and it will taste good." Broccoli: Cut into perfectly uniform sizes, making the presentation look exceptionally clean. It's stir-fried with large garlic slices to release the aroma, resulting in a relatively light flavor profile. Xiaolongbao (Soup Dumplings): Packed with rich broth, and the dough wrappers have a pleasantly chewy texture, though the flavor itself is remarkably bland. Shumai & Steamed Cod Dumplings: Both suffer from the exact same issue of being under-seasoned, though the portion sizes are quite generous. Fried Rice & Zha Jiang Mian (Fried Sauce Noodles): This is where it flips. I recall these staple dishes having rather large portions in Asia, but the mains here are served in tiny portions--hardly enough for one person. Zha Jiang Mian: Having lived in Beijing for 20 years, I believe the issue lies in the preparation technique. Any paste or sauce-based product demands repetitive, rigorous processing. Take yellow soybean paste (Huang Jiang), for example: it must be steamed first and then fried repeatedly to fully unlock its flavor profile and allow the aromatic molecules to continuously volatilize. Sauce bases--much like the soup bases for Sichuan hot pot--require time and the chef's continuous stir-frying to reach their full potential. Unfortunately, the Zha Jiang Mian here is also very bland.

But they lose 3 stars from me because they use some kind of industrial strength cleaning chemical to wipe down the tables. Hard to enjoy your meal when all you can smell is the same chemical they use to mop the floors at QFC and in my apartment building. Seriously terrible chemical smell while you eat. If they are using a spray bottle to clean at the next table, you'll get a cloud of harsh cleaning chemical up your nostrils while you eat. I've had to rinse off and wiped down my own table with a napkin dampened with tea or water in order to enjoy my meal. When I mentioned this to staff, they were dismissive and haven't changed a thing in over a year when I first brought it to their attention. They should only be using something like quat sanitizer, that doesn't smell, to clean the tables. NOT something that is used for floors or bathrooms. and on a side note: if you decide to mop underneath another table while people are dining next to it, please say "excuse me" or just wait. Instead of almost hitting people in the head with a mop handle without saying a word. Also not great for a dining experience. I have worked in restaurants and F&B management. I know something about these things. You shouldn't use anything on a table for diners that you wouldn't use on a food preparation surface. How many times has a dumpling got away from you and bounced around on the table and you snag it and consume it, because you assume the table isn't being cleaned with floor cleaner? If you agree with me, please say something to the staff, and maybe they'll eventually listen. This is a real shame. The food quality is quite good. Probably best dim sum in South King County. I might just do take-out from now on. There are other high quality Chinese and Asian dining options, that's the bright side of living in this area. But if I'm doing takeout, I might as well just go to Dim Sum House on Beacon Hill (much more reasonable prices and good quality).
